DEI Kills, and the Texas Floods Prove It

The horrifying flood deaths in Texas were an act of nature...but also an act of man. Charlie explains how DEI priorities in Austin contributed directly to the deaths of more than 100 people in the Hill Country. He also talks to the White House's May Mailman about new legal offensives against Harvard and California, while Batya Ungar-Sargon talks about the radicalization of the left against ICE and against America. Charlie gives some great news about a crucial free speech case from the Biden years. We are in a state of national mourning as we should be.
And the Democrats are so despicable.
The Democrats are not lifting a finger to remember the well over 100 people that have died in Texas Hill Country.
What you are not being told by the media anywhere is that the death toll likely would not have been as high if it wasn't for DEI.
This Texas tragedy is just the latest example.
It's not just incompetence.
This is DEI working to undermine meritocratic institutions, and more people likely died than otherwise would have because of DEI.
Let me prove it to you.
In 2014, the Obama administration sued the Austin Fire Department about 11 years ago, Fire Union, for supposed racial discrimination, resulting in a settlement.
So the Obama administration was so worried that the fire department in Austin, Texas was racist, because, you know, when you're putting out fires, you got to make sure that you have a diverse fighting force.
All jokes aside, well, the pressure was on the city to prove its diversity credentials.
So a few years later, they picked Joel Baker as their first black fire chief.
He announced right away that promoting diversity is one of his top priorities.
They brought him in from Atlanta, and his priority was not putting out fires or being prepared for floods.
No, his priority was to make sure that the fire department was blacker.
Play cut 347.
This two-time fire chief wants to make a difference in the growing city of Austin and tells us he wants to start by bringing in more diversity.
It's important that the Austin Fire Department, as much as we can, reflect the community in which we serve.
But when you hire people based on race, you're not hiring based on skills.
So right now, Baker is facing a vote of no confidence by his union for, this is the key, for denying the pre-deployment of resources to Kerrville, Texas.
Now, Kerrville is in Texas Hill Country, which is west of Austin.
Austin has a monster fire department, and so his union, they wanted to pre-deploy resources to Kerrville, Texas.
But Baker apparently didn't act because of budgetary concerns.
Well, the only problem, the Austin Fire Department is fully reimbursed by the state of Texas for such deployments.
They tried explaining this to him, but he didn't quite comprehend the idea of reimbursement.
I don't think he knew the word reimbursement.
They decided, they sat down, they said, sir, this will be reimbursed.
And according to reports, is he didn't understand it.
The head of the Austin Fire Union, this is not me making up, said, quote, I explained the reimbursement process to Chief Baker last week, and he failed to understand this very simple concept.
You see, when you hire fire chiefs based on diversity, you get morons.
You don't get smart people.
Austin hired a DEI fire chief who could have saved an untold number of lives, but was unable to comprehend the simple concept of reimbursement.
You have to also wonder, there's another piece of tape here that we're going to play of the Democrats also saying that Camp Mystic was too white.
Literally, they said, oh, Camp Mystic was too light.
Other Democrat influencers are laughing and making light and fun of this online saying, well, all those Christian girls praying to Jesus, Jesus didn't save them.
This is the state of the wretched status of the modern Democrat Party.
But the Austin Fire Association has said that the fire chief Baker denied pre-deployment two days before floods began.
So they knew this flood was coming two days before.
Kerrville is not a major city.
It's growing, but it's not a major city.
And this is not random people accusing this DEI fire chief.
This DEI fire chief, that guy right there, he runs one of the biggest fire departments in Texas and one of the biggest in the country.
His own firefighters are accusing him of not understanding a very basic concept called reimbursement.
His own fire union is accusing him of this.
Let's trace this back.
This all started with the Obama administration.
Obama sued the Austin fire department saying, you guys are too white.
We're still facing the consequences of his disastrous DEI push.
And we here on the Charlie Kirk Show are one of the few programs that are actually covering this.
And let me say this as clearly as possible.
The death toll reaches at least 119 in the Texas floods with 173 missing.
This will be one of the most, the deadliest flooding incidents, catastrophes in the modern era.
How many people unnecessarily died because of DEI?
Well, you could rest easy because they say diversity is our strength.
And now those little girls are dead.
Those families are without their daughters.
But hey, you have a black fire chief in Austin.
You should be happy about that.

Okay, so Douglas Mackey.
Douglas is attorney came on the program, you might remember, because Joe Biden and his Department of Justice, one of the first things that he did, they decided to go after this poor young man, Douglas Mackey.
What was his crime?
Did he traffic children?
Did he burn down a Wendy's?
Did he shoot a police officer?
Did he murder his fellow citizen?
No, Douglas Mackey was the focus of the Biden Department of Justice because he made a meme.
PlayCut 345 up on screen.
That's right.
He made a joke back in the 2016 election.
We are now talking nine years later, Douglas Mackey is finally free.
And on the Twitter page, he said, avoid the line, vote from home.
Text Hillary to 59925.
A joke, of course.
Now, mind you, many Democrats have made this joke all the time, but they claimed that he was interfering with the election and that he was infringing on people's rights.
A KKK-era law that was a conspiracy to take away people's rights.
Well, legal experts say the following.
He got a unanimous second circuit ruling that his conviction was unjustified.
Even a Biden appointee ruled in our favor along with two George W. Bush appointees.
It's not as good as a rule we could have gotten.
The ideal ruling would have been, quote, there is no way you can take away someone's civil rights by posting a meme.
Instead, the court just ruled that the law in question requires a conspiracy.
And there's no evidence that Mackey was executing a conspiracy by posting memes.
But it's still a big win against one of the most sinister efforts of the Biden regime.
Now, let's just take a step back.
I know that there's a lot of people fired up about Epstein.
A lot of people fired up about all sorts of things.
If Kamala Harris would have won, this would have been 100x.
I know people don't want to hear it, but you need to hear it right now.
The Douglas Mackey being freed case is a great reminder and should be a reminder to you that we as a civilization dodged an enormous bullet.
We would be doing a show from a hidden bunker.
We'd probably be under indictment right now.
And you guys would be crowdsourcing my bail.
It would be dark times right now.
Homes would be raided.
Offices would be subpoenaed.
It would be a full-fledged police state that we'd be living in right now.
Instead, we get to have the freedom to have the Student Action Summit this weekend.
And yes, things can always be better.
I acknowledge it.
I agree with it.
And for people that are so fired up about what's happening, just understand there's a lot.
I'm having a lot of private conversations as well.
Not everything on the show is all that is happening.
But guys, take a step back.
Look at this Douglas Mackey situation.
You should count our blessings.
They would have done hundreds like this, thousands like this.
The entire Department of Justice would have been turned inward against the United States of America.
We know the police state that was popping up and emerging.
And praise the Lord, Douglas Mackey is free, and we can kind of rest easy that even though that things at times might not be exactly to the flavor or the taste that we would like, that we are in an unspeakably better position that President Donald Trump is in the White House.
Hey, everybody, Charlie Kirk here.

I'll see you there.
Joining right out of the gate, we have a terrific guest who's making stuff happen in the federal government.
I just want to get right to it, and we wanted to get her at the top of the show.
It's May Mailman, White House Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Policy Strategist.
May, great to see you.
May you have some news about California Title IX and also some Harvard subpoenas, and we need to keep the pressure on Harvard.
May, the floor is yours.
Walk us through it.
Yeah, so today, this morning at 9 a.m., we dropped a major lawsuit against California that would result in California losing $45 billion.
So it's funding for schools because California continues to violate Title IX.
Remember, Title IX says that you can have access to federal money, but you have to agree to a few basic things.
And one of those basic things is to not discriminate on the basis of sex.
If California is violating the rights of women by forcing them to shower and change with men and also compete against men if they're going to play sports, if they're going to play female athletics, then that is not equal opportunities for women and that violates Title IX.
So California has been warned repeatedly that this is going to happen and California is now going to get what it asks for.
So that is our big lawsuit this morning.
And so this is, I want to play cut 351.
This is when I joined the Gavin Newsom podcast when he wanted to have me on the show while his state is falling apart and I happily obliged.
This is 351 where Gavin Newsom said that, well, trans athletes are unfair.
So which is it, Gavin Newsom?
By the way, right now, Gavin Newsom is in South Carolina campaigning for the presidency.
He's in South Carolina, which of course, you know, the Democrats, they've decided to get rid of Iowa, get rid of New Hampshire because they were too white.
Not an exaggeration.
So South Carolina is now the new first state.
So Gavin Newsom is in South Carolina right now campaigning for the 2028 presidency.
Let's play Cut 351.
So like you right now should come out and be like, you know what?
The young man who's about to win the state championship in the long jump in female sports, that shouldn't happen.
You as the governor should step out and say no.
No, and I appreciate it.
But like, would you do something like that?
Would you say no men in female sports?
Well, I think it's an issue of fairness.
I completely agree with you on that.
So that's easy to call out the unfairness of that.
There's also a humility and a grace that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety and depression.
And the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue that I have a hard time with as well.
So both things I can hold in my hand.
How can we address this issue with the kind of decency that I think is inherent in you, but not always expressed?
So he's saying it's deeply unfair.
And by the way, just so we're clear, that man won the state championship, just so we are clear.
The man won the state championship.
So what is the ask in this lawsuit?
What would be considered a victory for California to protect women?
Because a lot of money is on the line.
What would be considered a victory here?
So one, they need to change their policies.
In fact, the California athletic group, the Interscholastic Foundation, asked the state for clarity because they heard this podcast.
They heard him say it was deeply unfair.
And they said, hey, are we still having to comply with California law, which makes us have to put men in women's sports?
And California categorically said, yes, you can self-identify into whatever category you would like to.
So California has specifically doubled down.
So they absolutely have to change that policy.
I think they thought they were going to be getting away with some sort of not at all response, which was if a man is competing, then another woman can also compete.
Like we can add an additional person.
It's like, wait, more people have to humiliate themselves.
That's going to be your solution?
It's like, have more women have to be exposed to this?
That's the opposite of a solution.
It also acknowledges you know the difference between a man and a woman because you only have to allow another woman if a man is competing.
So there is a sex difference.
You've acknowledged the problem and you've proposed basically the opposite of a solution.
So what they need to do is change their policy, then they need to restore obviously all of the awards.
And you know what?
Otherwise, we're going to take your money and we want back pay as well for all the years that you've been not in compliance.
And this is a great fight for the administration.
Number one, we ran on this.
This is one of our 20 campaign promises, which is no men and female sports.
Number two, it's California.
So there is so much money at stake here.
And then number three, listen, this is the morally right thing to do.
This is the morally right thing to do.
And so California, let me just be clear.
They are putting $45 billion at risk over the fight of having men in female locker rooms.
Am I understanding this is the hill they're going to die on?
That they're going to die, not on abortion, not on immigration, but they're going to die on men in girls' locker rooms?
Yeah, it's completely crazy.
You know, they like to say it's an 80-10 issue, but you and I know that that's just people who have to say it out loud.
If you were to ask people quietly, no one will ever know what's your position on here.
We're well over 90-10.
And so for, you know what the sad part is, is that these are kids too.
And what they're doing to kids to confuse them, are you a boy or are you a girl?
And then lie to them.
So this is the other thing.
Men and women's sports is, it's something visible.
It's something we as the American public can see.
But what's so dangerous about it is that this is social transition.
The reason why schools want to let men into women's sports is because they are trying to quote unquote socially transition them, which then those students go on to have chemicals and then those chemical students go on to have surgeries.
And so it's not just a burden on the women, which it is a burden on the women here.
It is this, this is the step toward a life of sadness, frustration, and attempting to live a lie that you can never play out.
And so if California wants to be compassionate, they want to show compassion to kids who are not doing well, who feel that they are in the wrong body either that or feel that they want to be cool or please their parents, and their parents want to, you know, say, I've got a trans kid because then maybe they'll get a bunch more dinner parties.
But either way, this is the opposite of compassion.
And so, what we are asking for is basic compliance with the law.
But we want the same thing from Harvard as well.
And so that's why today we announced that we launched some subpoenas into Harvard because they will not give us any information about what the Ford students are doing there.
And we have a lot of information that Harvard, one, discriminates against U.S. students.
You get punished if you're a U.S. student, but you don't get punished if you're a foreign student because then maybe you'll get deported.
So Harvard's problems continue apace.
Yeah, so what would you say is the pressure campaign against Harvard, I believe, is working.
And this is one of many different vectors of attacks.
Has Harvard been compliant or are they fighting the administration?
One minute remaining.
Yeah, Harvard had, just like every other university, just like Columbia, the opportunity to have a good relationship with us and say, you know what, we did not treat our Jewish students well.
We made Jewish students have to hide their identity.
And also, of course, we did discriminate on the basis of race.
Good luck to you if you are an American, white, or Asian student trying to get into our university.
They could have just said, we want to resolve our problems.
And instead, they continue to double down.
So Harvard, as the president has made note, they are welcome to come to a change of heart and start to comply with the law.
But until then, we would like to know what's going on there.
We would like to know about the racism that is happening.
And we'd like to know what the foreign students are up to because the foreign students are there with a program that is run by the federal government.
We'd like to know what's happening in our own program, which of course we have a right to.
The focus needs to be the violation of the students for fair admission.
Harvard is actively discriminating against white and Asian students every single day.
It is active racist discrimination.
May, great work.
And I think you went to Harvard, didn't you?
So keep the fight up against your alma mater.
Maybe I'm misremembering, but May, great to see you.
Thank you so much.
Thanks.
Hey, everybody, Charlie Kirk here.
Brand new year, brand new opportunities to change the world for the better.
It's easier than you might think.
You can save babies by providing ultrasounds with pre-born.
Together with the Sanctity of Human Life Month, we're going to save 35,000 babies to show the world that not only do we believe life is precious, but we're going to do something about it.
Your gift of pre-born will give a girl the truth about what's happening in her body so that she can make the right choice.
What better way to start this new year than to join us to save babies?
And $28 a month will save a baby a month all year long.
A $15,000 gift will provide a complete ultrasound machine that will save thousands of babies for years and years to come.
And will also save moms from a lifetime of pain and regret.
I am a donor to this organization, and you should be too.
Start this new year by being a hero for life.
Go 833-850-2229 or click on the pre-born banner at charliekirk.com.
That is charliekirk.com and click on the pre-born banner.
I'm a donor.
You should be too.
CharlieKirk.com, pre-born banner.
Joining us now is Batya Ungar Sargon, author of Second Class.
Batya, great to see you.
Sorry if I mispronounced the second part of your last name.
Great to see you.
Charlie, thank you so much for having me.
I have to say, I just feel daily more and more grateful to you for the service that you're providing our nation as an American, as a Jew, as an American Jew.
I feel so unbelievably indebted to you for the work that you're doing holding the moral center of this country.
Our great vice president, before he became vice president, gave an amazing speech, I think it was in March or May of 2024, in which he said that it's obvious that our foreign policy should be guided by the moral intuitions of regular Americans.
And when I hear you talking, that's really what I hear.
I hear that moral intuition of the average American, which is so good and so fundamentally misunderstood.
So thank you for everything you do for this country.
And thank you for having me.
Thank you.
That is very sweet and means the world.
And we will continue on this program.
Tell it like it is.
Tell the truth and not pander to fake stuff that is thrown at us.
So, Bacha, I want to get your thought here.
You're the author of Second Class, which is How the Elites Betrayed America's Working Men and Women.
President Donald Trump has remade the Republican Party into the muscular class party.
You and I have talked about that for some time.
But there's a new Axios story out that is going quite viral.
And we're hearing this from Democrats, quote, the grassroots want more.
Some of them have suggested what we really need is to be willing to get shot.
When visiting ICE facilities or federal agencies, a third House Democrat told Axios, quote, they want blood.
And there's a quote here that's about they literally want blood.
What's going on in the Democrat Party?
Are they becoming the Luigi Mangioni Party?
So as we've discussed many times, Donald Trump won because he captured that moral center where the vast majority of Americans are at.
It's anti-war.
It's pro-worker and socially moderate.
That's where 60, 70, 80% of Americans are at on every single issue.
And that includes being extremely hawkish on immigration.
And what's so amazing is that Donald Trump has made Americans much more so.
So CNN was forced to admit that back in 2016, only 38% of Americans thought that we should be deporting every single illegal immigrant.
That number is up to 55% in the lowest poll, as you tweeted, Charlie.
The highest numbers have it at 64% of Americans want every single illegal migrant deported.
And the reason for that is very clear.
Over successive democratic administrations.
Basically, they have instituted economic policy that disinherited working class Americans and their children and made it impossible for them to achieve the American dream.
But who could achieve the American dream was the millions and millions of illegal migrants who they were importing to undercut working class Americans' wages.
And of course, the beneficiaries of it, which are the credentialed class, that top 10% that now controls over 60% of the GDP.
This was very, very intentional.
They did it by NAFTA shipping good manufacturing jobs overseas to build up China and Mexico's middle class.
They did it when President Obama defunded vocational training, another great avenue to the American dream for working class people who work with their hands for a living.
And they did it by opening the border.
And effectively, what the American people said was, no more.
This is not right.
This is not fair.
This is not moral.
It is moral for a country to put its citizens first.
And for the crime of objecting to the disinheritance of their own children, they were smeared as racists.
They were called Nazis.
Trump was called Hitler.
And now this is just the latest salvo of the smearing of the hardest working Americans because they want their children to have a fair shot at the American dream.
And they've taken it so far, Charlie, in the face of this mass acceptance by the American people that Donald Trump actually is doing what they asked him to do, what they want him to do.
They are effectively saying we need to make a spectacle that is so horrifying that the American people will abandon what they know is in their own interests.
That's basically what happened.
So for 40 years, leftists were telling working class people, you're voting against your own economic interests when they knew, like, of course, we're not voting against our economic interests.
It's now become so clear that these migrants were against the interests of the American working class.
And so that argument has failed.
So they have to resort now to what they are hoping will be a bloody spectacle.
And they are literally sending their people out to commit violence against people, ICE agents, against officers of the state who are trying to do what the American people want them to do.
So it seems as if this is a trend.
I want to connect this with Zoran Mamdani, who is obviously an insurgent.
But I believe that the insurgency of Mamdani can largely be explained through economics.
President Trump is doing his best to fix a disordered and broken economic system.
But one of the main reasons why you see radical Islamists, and it doesn't have to be Islamists, but he is an Islamist, but radicals like Zo Ron start to pop to the surface is when a generation has lots of student loan debt and they don't own anything, they start to get uneasy.
Can you talk about how Republicans, who are the governing and the majority party, it's not enough just to oppose Democrats.
We should seek to understand what is the driving force of the disillusionment, the baseline that connects to the Zoron Mamdanis.
And at the baseline of it is economics.
100%.
Effectively what happened was you had a generation of young people who were lied to.
They were told, you will go to college and then you will have access to the American dream.
For a long time, that actually did work.
But what happened was you had, first of all, people in Silicon Valley who just wanted more and more and more H-1B visas.
And those H-1B visas imported half a million people to work in STEM, which undercut the actual pay that an American worker, an American engineer could expect to get in those industries because they had been swelled with migrants, I guess legal migrants in this case.
And as a result, American students didn't want to go into those industries anymore because what is the point in graduating with hundreds and thousands of dollars in debt when you're going to be expecting, you know, $50,000 as a salary?
It didn't make sense anymore.
But in many ways, this lie that was sold to them was you will graduate from college, you will make it into the top 10% as previous generations did, and you will be much more well-off and much wealthier than blue collar workers.
And Donald Trump was the first president in 60 years to really reverse that.
So in his first administration in 2018, the bottom 25% of wage earners saw a 4% wage increase, but the top 25% only saw a 2.9% wage increase, which means that he was the first president to shrink the gap between that credentialed elite, that caste that had been created by the Democrats of their new base after they had abandoned labor, and then labor, who were now the new base of the Republican Party.
So he sort of changed that.
He started to say, wait a minute, why are the hardest working Americans downwardly mobile?
And these people working in the knowledge industry who are basically a rentier class, who don't produce anything of value, are the ones getting rich.
Now, Joe Biden really put a stop to that with the open border.
That was effectively the point of the open border.
They were worried that if the wage increase of the working class continued apace, that this would lead to inflation.
And so they brought in 10 million people to undercut working class people in their places of industry, of work.
But right now, we're seeing the same thing happening.
The AI revolution is leaving a lot of these over-credentialed people who have recently graduated from higher education without job prospects because those entry-level jobs are being done by AI.
And meanwhile, blue-collar workers are seeing real wage increases because of all the mass deportations.
And so Trump is again flipping the script and shrinking that class divide based on a college education.
Now, the problem is, is that a lot of the education that these people got, education at these institutions of higher ed, we know that they teach them a lot of stuff that's built into this anti-American, anti-Western.
You see the love of Hamas on all of these college campuses, and it's very built into the hatred of white people, the hatred of Jews.
this is rampant in the woke ideology.
And so they get these degrees, they graduate, and then they expect to become very wealthy.
Crucially, they expect to be better off than working class people who didn't get these fancy degrees.
There's this inherent elitism and snobbery and contempt for the working class built into that education.
And so they are very disillusioned.
They are very angry.
But also, you know, some of them do have legitimate concerns.
If there is a group there that is willing to say, hey, wait a minute, like we need a populist revolution.
This could come from the left.
It could come from the right.
Why should we be divided?
We should all be working for that American dream for the most amount of people.
Like, great, join the movement.
The problem is, is that there is a lot of anti-American sentiment baked into this new, you know, leftist proletariat, if you want to call it, which leads to the trust fund socialism of Zaran Mamdani.
