Can you share some advice?
I'm getting married this year, and me and my fiancé want to follow in the example of Christ.
What steps can me and him take in pursuing that?
That is a great question.
So I have several things to say, the first of which is a piece of advice that you'll probably not get.
One of the biggest reasons why marriages fall apart and why people file for divorce is financial problems.
You have to have the tough financial conversations before you get married.
Who's in charge of the money?
Who's going to work if you have kids?
What is your current financial situation?
How much do you have in savings?
Are you guys going to invest?
Are you guys going to be aggressive in your investments?
Are you going to take vacations?
Are you guys going to go out to eat?
Methodical, transparent, very let's just say provocative conversations around finances means that you will have a healthier marriage.
Talk early in your relationship about these things because people tend to avoid these conversations because they get too invested and they're afraid that these conversations might actually end up causing harm in the marriage.
So while you are in this fiancé stage, it is very important that you get premarital counseling.
got to find a pastor to do that.
But even beyond that, there is a checklist of like 50 And there's not even right or wrong answers.
But you have to definitely know who is going to be ultimately responsible for paying the bills.
I tend to think that is the man's job.
Not to say that has to be for every single family.
It might work for you guys.
It might not.
In our family, I'm in charge of all the finances.
It works great.
I'm in charge of the income.
I'm in charge of paying the bills.
It's great.
It works fine.
Other families, they have a different configuration.
But we established that.
We established that early on.
I'll be in charge of the money.
You don't have to worry about it.
You don't have to sweat about it.
You don't have to have any concern for it.
And so the finances in particular, because here's what happens when couples don't talk about it.
About a year into marriage, all of a sudden there'll be a conversation of, hold on, we don't have the money for that.
What do you mean we're not going on a vacation?
Or you don't realize how much debt that actually gets assumed into the family.
You've got to talk about, do you guys have student loan debt?
Do you have medical debt?
Do you have consumer debt?
You've got to put it all on the table.
You've got to have a come-to-truth, transparent conversation.
But understand, there is no my money or your money.
It's our money.
It's very important.
When Eric and I talk, there is no like, oh, I earned this, it's we earned this.
It is our money.
It is shared resources.
You are soulmates.
In the Christian view, this is very important, you must view your marriage as covenantal.
You see, a covenantal relationship is a very beautiful and holy thing.
It is sacred.
In the scriptures, there are five examples of covenants, and the marriage is the sixth.
There is the Noahic covenant, which God gave to Noah after the flood.
There is the Abrahamic covenant, which he made with Abraham.
There is the covenant with Israel, which of course happened with Jacob.
There is the Davidic covenant, which David, and then of course there is the new covenant with Christ.
This idea of covenant is that you don't keep score.
It's not about playing.
But I see more marriages fall apart on the finance question.
And then the other question, this is where premarital counseling should flush this out, but you guys have just got to do the work yourself as well.
Do you want to have kids?
How many kids?
And this is the other really critical, important thing that, believe it or not, so many young couples do not recognize.
I could do a whole seminar on this, by the way.
You have to know your spouse's nature.
This is incredibly important.
Is your spouse an extrovert or an introvert?
Do they want to have an open house or a closed house?
This is very important.
You see, you get married to your spouse and you're in that honeymoon phase and you might think, oh, I grew up where we open up the house and the whole neighborhood comes and it's great and all the kids are over and you constantly have people around and you...
There's no right or wrong answer, by the way.
I grew up in more of a closed house.
We didn't have a lot of people over all the time, and it worked great.
But I knew that there were people down the street where constantly there was just, that's the house where you went to go play, where there were barbecues, you went to the pool party.
It was an open house vibe.
You have to know that with your spouse, because all of a sudden you get married six months in, and there's people just coming over.
You're like, what is going on here?
I need my space.
And then the final thing I'll say, again, I could do a whole seminar on this, I could write a whole book on this, is you have to isolate what are acceptable vices in your relationship.
You must write down acceptable and unacceptable vices.
It's very, very important.
So, for example, if you say, hey, we're going to be okay with drinking alcohol, write that down.
But you say, how much alcohol are we going to be okay drinking?
We'll do only on Friday night.
Fine.
Great.
Write that down.
Of course, an unacceptable advice would be there'll be no tolerance whatsoever for pornography.
Obviously, I think that's a good idea.
Do that.
Another advice would be, hey, we're only going to watch TV at this time, and we'll try to stay within these rules.
And the guy might say, hey, I need at least Sundays to watch football and Saturdays to watch football.
With Erica, when we went through premarital counseling, it was like, hey, I need Saturday mornings.
During college football season, basically all day, I just need to be able to watch college game day.
I need to be able to watch Oregon.
I just need to be able to do my thing to watch football.
And she's like, great.
And to know the vices, specifically, is very important.
Not even vices.
Not even a good way to say it.
But it's, let's just say, carve-outs that are not always things you want to do every single day.
And then the other part, and this is where Dennis Prager got in a lot of trouble.
But it's a very important thing.
Very, very important.
And this drives the feminists crazy, okay?
Women, you need to affirm your man for being loyal to you.
Dennis Prager says this all the time.
It drives feminists crazy.
They're like, what do you mean you need to affirm it?
It should be normal.
There is a reason why adultery is in the Ten Commandments.
Men have difficulty staying monogamous.
And women should reassure and should affirm and encourage men.
When they are faithful, they should say, thank you for being faithful to me.
Thank you for continually building into our marriage.
Again, some women go nuts when I say this.
They say, well, I don't need to affirm my man.
Yes, you do, actually, believe it or not.
You do.
And if you don't, you do not know male nature.
God knew male nature so much, he built it right into the Decalogue.
So, Gracie, I hope that's helpful, but just kind of the other components that are find a great church, find a really good pastor, And, as Aristotle would say, a marriage is at its best—he would say a friendship—but marriage is at its best when you're not just looking at each other, but you're both looking at Jesus, when you're both looking at God.
When you make God the transcendent third, as Bishop Barron would say, in your relationship— You are lifting up the marriage where it's not just about yourself or about each other.
It's about something beyond that.
And that is what will keep the marriage together when things get on the rocks.
That is what will happen when things get a little shaky.
And going to church and having those agreed upon spiritual disciplines.
We do the Sabbath.
We're big Sabbatarians in our family.
It works for us.
Your spouse is a friend, a lover, and a partner.
And I'll be honest, some young men that I see online that are super, like, anti-marriage, they are so missing out.
It is an adventurous journey of depth and exploration and just kind of engaging in hookup culture that is so primal.
It's so just fleshly oriented.
It's challenging, but it is the greatest thing.
And so I certainly hope for you the best, Gracie.

I know Trump-Elon, last time they kind of butted heads, was around the H-1B.
Sort of the tech bro, right, that got brought into the movement this last cycle.
I think you're starting to see some of the more immigration, you know, legal immigration come under question.
Is it possible between now, maybe as an issue for 26 and 28, to temporarily suspend or pause H-1B program by executive order?
It is an option.
I think we should.
The challenge is this, is that the AI people, the AI community, they claim there is just not enough American talent to be able to source the AI boom.

Yeah, so can you riff on that?
I think that's not true.
I'm far from an expert.
I'm an expert on several things, not on this.
Do you think that is true, Matt?
Well, I think that the H-1B program was designed and it's understood to be for kind of gaps and holes.
In the labor force that we can provide to fill.
And it's become just a way to get a compliant labor force that will work for half the money and never complain because it will get deported because the sponsor will then leave.
And it's impacted our student loan crisis.
It's kept folks from starting families and buying homes.
It's slowed down our entire generation.
And it's it's with AI, as you were mentioning, it's only going to be expedited because there's going to be fewer opportunities to be had.
And so we need to maximize every opportunity we have.
And I think ending H1B program, except in those kind of lower skill kind of gaps and holes, seasonal workers, et cetera.
We need to shrink, if not NH-1B, but I think there is a conflation by some of the media.
It is not the genius visa.
I think you and I both agree, Matt.
Genius visa is fine.
Like a couple hundred super geniuses coming in.
You and I think that's legit.
That's fine.
high IQ physicists, like the top of the top.
I'm perfectly fine with that.
What H1B has become is a replacement of American labor for stuff that is like so abominable They're replacing, like, hairdressers and nannies.
Like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Like, this is not at all what it was architected for.
They use H-1B for entry-level accountants at insurance companies.
I'm sorry, Americans can do those jobs.
So, Matt, what line of work are you in?
I'm a medical device sales manager.

Well, and I hope your job's not replaced by H-1B, but we need to, it comes down to a fundamental thing.
Do you believe American labor should be protected, or do you think it should just be a feeding frenzy and just a major open border, just source of bedlam?
And they use H-1B for IT companies that are almost all H-1B staffers.
They're just a giant immigrant core, basically all from India.

So I was wondering if you could give me some advice on how to run the organization since I'm trying to get it off the ground.
Well, first of all, thank you for wanting and for being a Turning Point USA chapter leader.
My best piece of advice is be likable.
I know that this is a strange piece of advice.
You want to be well-liked on campus.
No one wants to join a political movement if you're cruel and angry.
This is where the left went so wrong.
You don't have to overthink this.
If you look at the left on campus, they're so unfriendly and unwelcoming.
You just want to kind of be chill.
You want to be cool.
You want to be friendly.
You want to be authentic.
You want to be open to other ideas.
You want to be firm in your belief system, but you don't want to be overly dogmatic in your present The first chapter that we had was at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
It's our 13-year anniversary yesterday of Turning Point USA.
I don't have time to tell the entire story, but so much of the conservative uptick on campus, thanks to Turning Point USA and the amazing Turning Point USA High School and College Chapter Network, partially is that...
They're sorority leaders.
They're fraternity leaders.
We have fun.
And it's also, we're not going to scold you.
One of my favorite words to describe the left is they are scolders.
They are like hall monitors that's constantly critiquing that you're not fully in line with the catechism of the left-wing faith.
We're tolerant in the truest sense.
It's fine.
It's a college campus.
Get over yourself.
It's fine if somebody doesn't agree with you on gay marriage or whatever.
And be firm in your beliefs.
Be steadfast.

So two quick thoughts, and I'm not going to give you the full answer, Melissa, because it'll take like an hour.
First of all, in the actual Epstein files that have already been released, Donald Trump was mentioned, but not in an incriminating way.
He happened to run a club that Jeffrey Epstein went to and then got kicked out of.
So just because you're mentioned in documents doesn't mean that you are incriminated in the criminal behavior.
But let's also just kind of use some of our reason here.
You're trying to believe that the Democrats who wanted to put Donald Trump in prison for 700 years, take away his business empire from him, be able to derail him.
They dispatched Fannie Willis and...
If they really wanted to embarrass Donald Trump, they would have just released this part of the Epstein files, and it would have just been potentially catastrophic for him.
So, no, there's nothing incriminating there.
And also, just so we are clear, Jeffrey Epstein's lawyer, David Schoen, has come out and has said Donald Trump has no incrimination whatsoever in any of the Epstein files.
It is an untrue attack, and I hope the two are able to reconcile soon.

But if you have demonstrated that you can assimilate, If you've demonstrated that you come here with skills, if you can demonstrate that you love the country, then we'll be open to that.
People will be more okay with skilled immigration when we've sent back the flood of illegals and the fake asylum seekers and the family migration flood of this country.
Besides my own opinion, though, let me tell you, Ashish, President Donald Trump is a very pro-legal immigration president, and so I think based on everything you've described about yourself, you have very little to worry about.

So we're just kind of fighting the battle out here and wondering what may happen.
It kind of seems a little ridiculous to me that we've got something like 15% of houses in Phoenix owned by these big real estate companies.

So great question.
That would address this.
So a couple things.
So number one, mass deportations means less demand for housing.
That's a big thing.
And so the Big Beautiful Bill will help with that.
Number two, your take-home pay will increase under the Big Beautiful Bill.
Middle-class tax cuts, child tax deduction.
So that will increase under the Big Beautiful Bill.
Number three, if we get a booming economy again, which I believe this Big Beautiful Bill does not cut as much spending as we'd like, but my goodness, we are going to see growth, then interest rates can come down.
And once interest rates come down, that will be the signal for mass home building.
And then finally, President Donald Trump will open up federal lands for homes, which we absolutely should do.
The federal government owns way too much land out west.
And by the way, I think we should really entertain banning these big conglomerates from taking up housing inventory.
I don't think that you, as a father of five, an American, and we have a social contract and a compact to you.
As a father of five, she has to compete against BlackRock for a home.
I think it's insane, actually.
I think that we should put you first and not have some big conglomerate swoop in with a cash offer if you're trying to get a house for your five kids.

In California, you kind of answered it with the other members' question, but how do we kind of unite?
I know Steve Hilton has his Golden Together, and Rick Grinnell has his Fixed California.
But if we could take the turning point action and what you guys did with Arizona and your door knocking and boots on the ground, how do we get that going in California better for next year's primary especially?
Because we've got to get a Republican across the finish line for the primary because we do top two here.
And it's not just the governor, it's across the board.
How do we get competent people into these offices?
I don't know if you're familiar with the insurance crisis we have going on in California.
It's terrible.
Our insurance commissioner, he, I mean, so what?
He's the first gay man to be in that office?
Great.
But he doesn't know anything about insurance.
It's terrible.
My insurance went up 52% this year.
Like, are you kidding me?
Yeah, but don't you feel better that you have a gay guy running the insurance commissioner?
Come on, diversity is our strength.
Progress is the end point.
I mean, it's laughable.
Maybe you want a qualified person, not just someone that has a gay pride flag.

So how do we get the message across to get competent people?
We need to stop voting for Democrat or Republican.
We need to vote.

So there's a lot of components to this.
Look, California is a long-term project.
I will be very honest.
We are not, at Turning Point Action, going to be heavily investing in California.
We're doing all of our youth stuff in California.
We've got to pick what states we're going to invest in.
Arizona is number one, number two, and number three on our priority list.
I do not want you to give up in California.
There is so much goodness in California.
People think I'm crazy.
I am more optimistic about California than Illinois.
I'm more optimistic about California than New York.
As long as California is a blue state, it is going to be incredibly difficult in the current margins that we have right now.
And look, it's kind of funny.
As long as California is a blue state, it's frankly better in some ways to lose it by 5 million votes than like 500,000 because those Dems and Libs haven't left for Nevada or Texas or Arizona.
But we're helping Steve Hilton in any way we can.
You guys shouldn't give up.
You should hold the line.
And long term, eventually we can flip California, but it's not going to happen overnight.
