Inside Blake Masters' Debate Night Beatdown of Mark Kelly with Blake Masters and Tyler Bowyer
With ballots being sent out in Arizona in five days, Charlie has COO of Turning Point Action, Tyler Bowyer, on the show to give the lay of the land, from door knocking, the latest polls, and the RNC's refusal to go all in on one of the biggest senate pickup opportunities in the country. They are joined by the man himself, Trump-endorsed candidate for US Senate from Arizona, Blake Masters, fresh off an incredible debate performance with his opponent, Mark Kelly, where Blake proved to Arizona voters why he deserves their vote. Blake unpacks some of Mark Kelly’s most ignorant answers, and shows once again why Kelly is nothing but a Schummer and Biden puppet betraying the values of Arizona voters. Buckle up, everybody, here.
We go.
Charlie, what you've done is incredible here.
Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses.
I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks.
I want to thank Charlie.
He's an incredible guy.
His spirit, his love of this country.
He's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created.
Turning point USA.
We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country.
That's why we are here.
Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com.
We're getting lots of emails on the Hunter Biden story we just covered.
It's really all about Trump.
It's all about 2024.
But we're going to shift gears.
We're going to talk about Arizona.
Tyler Boyer is here, Arizona expert.
We have one minute and then we have like a short break and then a five-minute thing.
What's going on with McConnell and Blake Masters?
Look, here's the download.
McConnell has done nothing here in Arizona.
Zero.
By doing zero, you're actually hurting us more than you're helping at all.
So, and part of this is because Mitch McConnell just can't get on board with the fact that Blake Masters is the best Senate candidate maybe in the country.
And he's scared of him and all that.
And that's going to get knocked off.
We're a team.
And Mitch McConnell needs to come in and invest big time in Arizona, especially with this in striking distance.
Yeah.
And so some people are saying, oh, we don't need McConnell's money.
I'm going to explain why you do and kind of how this whole process works and how hard it is to raise money.
The NRSC has said that they're adding a seven-figure investment, but we don't know, no specific seven-figure.
We don't know what it's going to be spent on, but it's a shift.
I mean, McConnell pulled out a couple of weeks ago and he's coming back in because this is a very winnable race.
Yeah, no.
So, I mean, Mitch McConnell months and months ago said that, I mean, basically that, oh, yeah, we're going to get involved.
And then all of a sudden did nothing in Arizona.
But the reason why this is important is because Mitch McConnell has been talking to donors for not just months, but years, saying, like, this is the biggest battle of our lifetime.
2024, Republicans are going to mop the floor with Democrats on the Senate level.
So this is the battle that's a great map.
We're going to fight now.
24 is a great map.
2022 is the tough one.
And he's been telling, and these people have been telling donors, like, oh, yeah, give me money as a leader so I can go help in the strategic areas.
Well, there's not a more strategic area to fight in than Arizona.
Arizona is the most strategic place, not just for 2022, which is the biggest battle in the Senate, but 2024, where, you know, it's argued, we've spent time on this.
There's four states that matter for the presidency in 2024.
And multiple of those states have Senate races again in them in 2024.
And they have Senate races today in 2022.
And we have to win and build the bench deep now.
And this Blake Masters win, which is inevitable at this point.
Look, the establishment doesn't want to wake up in January and have the grassroots say, you did nothing for us.
That's right.
And we still won.
And they don't want Senator Vance and Senator Masters.
And so I think they're, so let's just talk because some people say, oh, Blake's going to lose.
It doesn't look like that.
He's trending very well, right?
I mean, that's striking distance.
And Arizona is also a tricky state to poll.
In 16, they had Trump down in every poll and he ended up winning Arizona somewhat convincingly in 16.
Yeah, yeah.
And look, I think we're in a five-plus-five right now.
We keep talking about it.
We're at about a five-point margin on polling, you know, give or take.
And Carrie's right there.
You mentioned that.
I think Carrie's going to win by five or six points.
I don't want to be braggadocious, but it could be more than that.
Katie Hobbs is collapsing in real time.
Yeah, Katie Hobbs is an awful candidate, which is really a bad person, discriminatory, all those things, right?
Yeah.
Do betterazy.com.
Turning point pack is put out there.
It's really nice.
Do betterazy.com.
Yeah, we have billboards all across the state.
Just reminding people about how discriminatory Katie Hobbs is.
We're spending money at Turning Point Pack for these candidates.
We've spent more money than Mitch McConnell has in Arizona.
I don't know if that's true, but you know.
It's probably close.
Anyways, but here's the deal.
You can't go around telling donors forever that you're going to fight in the most strategic places and be the smartest entity for spending money and then not spend the money when push comes to shove over leadership battles.
And here's the facts: I have a lot of respect for the fights that happened in Washington, D.C. Leader McConnell did the right thing when it came to the Supreme Court battles.
This is on the same scale as the Supreme Court battle.
If we lose the Senate, we're going to be in a really bad position ahead of 2024.
But I think there's some surprises, right?
I think Herschel's going to win.
Ted Budd is going to win.
JD Vance is going to win.
Oz looks like he's got life.
Oz looks much better.
Oz is looking lively.
And that exchange that happened with him talking about his family was huge.
Very, very good.
And then Johnson, we were just in Wisconsin.
The energy is great on the ground.
Wisconsin?
We've been in Wisconsin four times this month.
A lot of work.
We have an incredible field staff that's there.
Brett Galazzo.
He does a great job.
Galaszzewski is incredible.
And I will tell you this.
You go through Wisconsin and you're like, how do these people ever vote for Democrats?
It's like.
We'll go to Madison.
I know, but like, no, throughout the state, the vast majority of the state, even like deep into Milwaukee, you're like, man, this just feels like a Republican state.
This is a conservative place.
I totally agree.
And by the way, Johnson gets the state.
He really does.
Yeah.
He's great.
Well, he's a real Wisconsin.
Yeah, there is a chance.
And I mean, I was saying this earlier.
The Democrat entire messaging is imploding.
Abortion is going down and down and down on the priority.
The economy, unfortunately, is collapsing.
OPEC is, you know.
Yeah, which I have a whole theory on how actually I think the Saudis are trying to get Democrats out of the way.
And I have a whole, you know, we haven't talked about that.
I don't support foreign interference in elections.
It's just the truth.
I think the Saudis are trying to stick it to Biden.
They don't like him at all because they're about to certify an Iran deal and all that sort of stuff.
But in closing here, Tyler, tpaction.com, at least for this hour, let's kind of just put a button on this: tpaction.com.
And you're feeling better, but people have got to get to work.
How many doors have you knocked on?
It should be the question, precinct, all that.
15 seconds.
We've got to recruit.
If you're not a precinct committee man, you need to become one in your state, particularly Arizona.
And we need you to come to Arizona.
If you don't, if you haven't, come to Arizona, help us knock some doors.
If you can spend a weekend just knocking doors in Arizona, we will take you.
We will bring in, we will feed you, we will clothe you, we will house you, and we will give you the materials to knock doors.
So please do.
Yeah.
And look, knocking on doors wins wars.
It's that simple.
So if you live in Oregon, you're like, oh, there's nothing I do.
Actually, you had a governor's race in Oregon.
That's not true.
But I don't know.
Maybe you live in a state where there's nothing competitive.
Look, in the good old days, we Americans argued about which policies to pursue to improve this beautiful country.
Charlie Kirk here.
Too often, we find ourselves arguing about whether or not America is great or not, or whether we should be ashamed or whether we should love America.
The reason for this is simple.
For too many years, too many of our schools have been neglecting to teach young people about our great heritage of liberty, presenting them instead a dishonest narrative of America as a fundamentally unjust or racist country.
Hillsdale College is winning in for America, the wonderful Hillsdale College, by offering a free online course, such as The Great American Story, A Land of Hope, Constitution 101, The Meaning of a History of the Constitution.
As we get closer to Constitution Day, September 17th, I encourage all of you to enroll in one of these wonderful free courses from Hillsdale.
And even better, encourage your friends and family to sign up too.
Begin your Hillsdale course today at charlie4hillsdale.com.
That is charlie4hillsdale.com.
Check it out, charlie4hillsdale.com.
What's interesting, I go back to Arizona also.
And Trump, it's so easy to dismiss.
He's crazy.
He's racist.
He's all these things.
And then when we have some of these better package candidates, you kind of go, wait a second.
If that's a message that's winning, that's where this country is.
I've been focused on the border since day one.
Okay.
To no great effect because we have a wide open southern border.
So if that's the best you can do, I respectfully request you resign.
Let's get someone in the seat who will actually secure our border.
Mark Kelly, if this is the result of Senator Kelly being focused on the border, my gosh, he's the most ineffective and worst senator of all time.
You or did you not vote to reject 18,000 more border patrol agents in the Inflation Reduction Act passage?
He's the 50th vote in the U.S. Senate.
Joe Biden needed his vote.
Mark Kelly a year ago could have dug his heels in and said, Mr. President, I'm not supporting a single thing, not a single spending bill, not a single piece of your agenda.
You never have to wonder which way Senator Kelly is going to vote because any spending bill that Biden puts in front of him, he will sign.
So yeah, we got the Inflation Reduction Act, and Mark Kelly was the deciding vote.
He hired 87,000 new IRS agents.
Mark Kelly voted to send stimulus checks to illegal aliens.
He voted to send stimulus checks to get this: violent felons sitting in jail.
Is that a good use of taxpayer money?
I don't think so.
Let's be clear: the greatest threat to seniors' retirement today is the massive, crushing inflation that Joe Biden and Mark Kelly caused.
He's called abortion demonic, a religious sacrifice.
I don't even know what that means, folks.
And the only countries in the whole world that support Senator Kelly's preferred no-limits extreme abortion policy are China and North Korea.
That sounds like a senator.
Yeah.
Blake crushed it last night.
And it's not just us that think it.
It's the whole conservative universe.
If you watch some very critical people, we're like, oh my goodness, Blake Masters is the greatest Senate candidate we have in the Republican.
Too bad we don't get more debates.
It seems as if that's the strategy.
Tyler Boyer is here.
If you're just tuning in from TurningPointAction, TPATION.com.
Also, Turning Point Pack.
Tyler's doing a great job running both of them.
But joining us on the program is the next senator from the great state of Arizona who had a phenomenal night.
I think he's going to get a huge surge from that.
And a lot of outside money is pouring in.
Blake Masters.
Blake, congratulations on a great debate.
That's not easy.
Good job.
It was fun.
You know, all I had to do was go out and tell the truth.
And, you know, Charlie, Tyler, do you almost feel bad for Mark Kelly?
Because what's he supposed to do?
His record is indefensible.
So we kind of had a feeling, yeah, he was going to struggle to defend it.
Yeah.
And I mean, this tweet from Tom Bevin, who I consider to be a very fair-minded guy from Real Code Politics, it's over.
I'm not sure how many people watched or will watch how much it will matter, but Masters was the clear winner of the debate.
Kelly made his points on abortion and social security, but Masters simply crushed him on inflation and illegal immigration.
I thought you made a really good point there where you were kind of in a very strategic way contrasting him with cinema.
And again, we're no fans of cinema here, but you were saying he could have been like a cinema-esque figure and said, Biden, I'm not going to vote for anything if it wasn't for border security.
Blake, I thought that was very effective.
What's the response been so far?
It's been good.
You know, I think we surprised a lot of people, especially people in DC who, you know, might have been tempted to ride off Arizona.
But nope, the more money Mark Kelly spends telling lies, the closer I get in the polls.
A poll just came out yesterday that had me down one.
Down one point right there.
I mean, it's neck and neck.
And I think last night, voters in Arizona and people are around the country, really, they saw this clear contrast.
Mark Kelly, like, I don't know, he might be a nice guy.
Like, I got to chat with him for 30 seconds before the debate, you know, but who cares?
That's not good enough.
He has been a rubber stamp for Joe Biden's policies.
I think I articulated this last night.
These policies have clearly failed working-class families, middle-class families in Arizona, and it's ruining our state.
And so I have a problem with that.
And I have a clear alternative.
And so I think people have a real sense of what's at stake in this election.
People are waking up and understanding that Mark Kelly is Joe Biden.
They're one in the same.
Yes, that's right.
Yeah, it's a third senator for California and a third senator for New York.
Tyler, your thoughts.
Well, yeah, Blake, I think you showed the clear contrast that he knows nothing about Arizona when it came to specific topics when he got off script about water issues.
I thought that was so crazy last night.
You had the libertarian, who is such a sham, saying that we shouldn't grow our own food basically in Arizona, which was the craziest thing I've ever heard come out of a libertarian's mouth that we shouldn't be self-reliant.
Yeah, right.
That's the new libertarian party.
Let's be different.
So the libertarian in the state believes that we should get our food from somewhere else.
He's a Democrat operative running as a libertarian to try to destroy Blake Masters' chance.
It also makes no sense, of course.
Like it's not just about feeding Arizona.
Apparently, that guy doesn't know that 90% of all the lettuce eaten in the whole United States in the winter comes from Yuma County.
That's right.
Yes.
Well, Democrats don't want us to eat it all.
Democrats just want us to starve.
They want us to eat bugs and starve.
But, you know, I thought the contrast was so clear with that.
What are some of your thoughts on specifically these issues that are deep issues that are deep rooted in Arizona that Mark Kelly from Houston doesn't understand at all or seems to not understand at all as you as you took him down that path?
Well, you know, we put him in a tough spot on the border.
I asked him that very simple question: like, Senator Kelly, have you done everything in your power these last two years to secure the border?
And I think it was a clever question, but it wasn't a gotcha question because it's just honest.
But hey, what's he supposed to say?
Yes, I've done everything I can.
Well, okay, congratulations.
Not good enough.
You're a failure.
And that's the direction he went.
The other direction would have been like to admit, no, I haven't done everything I can.
But then it's like, how can you even face the voters in Arizona?
Like, he's just not trying.
And of course, that's the real answer.
He just doesn't care about border security.
He cares about what Chuck Schumer tells him to do.
Emergency Food Kit System Solvency00:04:24
Right.
And what's so terrible about the entire thing is that, you know, they just get up and repeat the same old things that are not working.
By the way, you just mentioned this.
The more money they spend on these lies and attacks, the higher you're rising in the polls.
Yeah, it actually boosts Blake's name ID.
Yeah, because people just don't believe it.
So he had an opportunity, I think, to come in and say something different, and he didn't.
And so I think that's why he won resoundingly last night, which is incredible.
Yeah.
And Blake, I want to give you a chance to clarify.
I mean, Mark Kelly is a dishonest hack with DC consultants.
I totally agree with Tyler.
His lack of understanding of the water issues in Arizona show you that he's really not a senator for Arizona because it's a massive crisis here, especially with the population growth.
It needs to be solved.
But Blake, can you just clear up for our audience the social security thing?
Because even I got an email right here.
She says, Charlie, I'm a Republican, but I'm not sure about Blake because I keep on seeing ads about the Social Security.
This is one of the great dishonest moves of the left.
Blake, you love Social Security.
You want to expand it.
It's a beautiful thing.
You were just making a comment about solvency.
Here's a chance for you to talk about that.
Blake, what is your position?
Oh, absolutely.
Social Security is crucial.
We're never going to cut Social Security.
We will never pull the rug out from our seniors.
Period.
I'm looking for ways to save the system so that it can be around for my kids and grandkids, right?
We can never cut.
It's politicians like Mark Kelly who get in there and they can't stop spending money.
They're the ones that are threatening the system.
And so we're never going to cut it.
I think we should encourage young people to save with tax-advantaged accounts and all this, supplemental to the social security system.
But no, Mark Kelly's lying.
And look, I understand why he wants to lie about my position.
It's because he's got a guilty conscience.
He knows what he's done.
Yes.
Mark Kelly and Joe Biden are threatening seniors' retirements by having created this crushing inflation.
And it's his fault.
It's his fault that seniors are struggling in Arizona.
Full stop.
He knows it.
So it's just classic Democrat.
I think that's right.
Mark Kelly does look like a guy who hates himself.
I think he actually knows that he's done so much damage to Arizona.
He didn't look like a confident person.
He didn't look like a courageous astronaut to me, right?
He looked like a deep state bureaucrat.
Tyler, your thoughts.
Well, and to your point, Blake, young people are not putting more money in their pockets as baby boomers did, as even Gen Xers did, right?
Like my parents were old Gen Xers.
They had a lot more money and they were a lot more capable of saving money for the future.
And that's not just the Social Security thing.
Like you said, that's a supplemental future retirement thing.
And we are in it.
We're in a dangerous spot now at this point.
And we appreciate you being honest with the public about it.
It's BlakeMasters.com, BlakeMasters.com.
He needs to raise more money.
Again, this race can flip.
I'll tell you, Blake will be an unbelievable fighter in the U.S. Senate.
The trend is our friend.
The Democrats are collapsing in front of our eyes.
And Blake, I think you make a really smart point.
Inflation is robbing security by another means because if the dollar weakens, then all of a sudden that $2,500 or $3,100 a month that seniors are living on, that purchasing power gets destroyed.
It gets obliterated.
And so that is him cutting Social Security through another means.
It's a backdoor scissors to Social Security, is what it is.
Very smart take, Blake.
I think fixed income loses the most under inflation.
It really does.
Look, I don't feel too good about the coming months and years.
Do you?
That's why now is the perfect time to stock up on emergency food.
You're probably going to need very, very soon.
Listen, emergency food is not for the paranoid.
It is for the prudent.
My Patriot Supply is the nation's largest preparedness company.
They're currently offering a generous 20% discount on their popular three-month emergency food kit.
This kit gives you a wide variety of delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinners, snacks, and more, totaling over 2,000 calories a day.
It feeds one person for three solid months, but this sale ends soon.
Go to preparewithkirk.com right now and grab your 20% savings off a three-month kit.
This is an affordable way to build your emergency food stockpile while you still can.
If the day ever comes when you need to fall back on this food, it will be worth much more than what you paid.
I promise.
Go to preparewithkirk.com.
That is preparewithkirk.com, preparewithkirk.com.
And so you look at the top issues: inflation, crime, elections, and voting, jobs, unemployment, immigration infrastructure, abortion ranks one, two, three, four, five, six, seven on the list.
Border Ad Impact On Millennials00:04:04
You know, Mark Kelly really was, he wasn't able to give you an answer, Blake, was he, about how he decided not to vote for more Border Patrol agents.
It's a huge issue here.
I mean, how are you going to pin that on him in the next 30 days?
He has a lot of money.
How are you going to get the message out?
Well, we're raising money.
We're on TV with an ad actually right now that hits him on that.
The ad is, you know, literally sitting at the kitchen table with my two-year-old.
And I just go through.
Mark Kelly rejected 18,000 more Border Patrol agents because what he really wanted, what he said yes to, was 87,000 more IRS agents.
And I think it's a pretty good ad.
I think it's still a really crazy, but true thing that happened.
It's like the Democrats caused a recession and then their fix for it is to tax you more, spend $700 billion and hire more tax collectors.
You almost really just couldn't even make it up.
And so I think getting that message out, it percolates, it sits with people and kind of reminds them, yeah, everything sucks right now.
It's the Democrats' fault.
And that's why people want to make a change.
Blake, I love your ads, by the way.
I think they're some of the best that have ever been really released amongst candidates with you and your family and your home.
And all these series of ads, I think, really make it.
I've had friends that are millennials, like we are, that are younger that have said, wow, that's actually made a difference.
I think that message that you're delivering of, you know, what are we going to do?
What are we going to tell our kids in 20 years when we look back and say we didn't fight for them?
Can you give a little bit more depth to that, especially with this ad you're talking about with the border?
Like what, yeah, talk a little bit to maybe some millennial families, you know, 30s and 40-year-olds that are maybe first-time voters really and paying attention to center races.
Well, yeah, you know, I think most politicians just sound fake all the time, unfortunately, whether they're giving a stem speech or whether they're in your living room advertising on TV.
It's just very scripted, right?
Because there's a handful of firms that usually write, write the copy and then the candidate says the thing.
And it's just, it's a little bit rinse and repeat.
And so we've always tried to take a different approach where, hey, look, I'm a real guy.
I'm not a politician, right?
I had a business career that I put on pause, but mainly I'm a dad.
You know, mainly I'm just trying to make it work, make family life work and raise three boys.
And I feel like I can relate to people in similar situations.
And it's not easy for anyone in this country.
I mean, I've been blessed.
I've worked hard and succeeded.
But I feel like, no, I'm in touch with our generation, millennials, right?
We have a long runway ahead in this country, but we're not children anymore.
In fact, a lot of us are having children.
And the problems that our families are facing because of Joe Biden, I mean, it just boils my blood.
So it's a pleasure to get out there in the political arena, but also talk like a normal person and say, hi, I want my, water came up in the debate last night, right?
It's an important issue.
I want my boys to be able to stay and choose to live in Arizona when they're my age in 30 years.
And you get the sense that too many of our political leaders, they're just not even thinking about five years down the road, let alone 30 years, right?
But when you have kids, it changes your time horizons.
It changes the way you think.
And so I think getting more young parents into politics would be a really good thing.
And so we just try to show glimpses of our family life and talk honestly about the issues.
And I'm glad to hear it's resonating with voters.
Well, and I'll tell you, as a dad, of three kids too, similar to you, where it's just like, you know, we're just trying to get by, getting our kids taught and schooling them and taking them to practice and to getting dinner on the table every day.
Yeah, this gas and groceries issue is number one for people our age.
I mean, it's crazy that it was clear last night in the debate that Mark Kelly had no understanding of that at all.
Young Parents Changing Time Horizons00:01:10
I'll say this, and Dennis Prager has been so helpful in this.
He has a great talk on this.
I want everyone in Arizona to hear this and send this clip.
People say all the time, well, Mark Kelly's a nice guy.
Nice people could do a lot of damage.
I don't care if he's nice.
He votes terribly.
He's done a lot of damage to this country.
I couldn't care less if he's a sweet person.
He's done a lot of damage to the state of Arizona.
Nice people, if they're not morally centered, they can wreak havoc on a civilization.
And that's Mark Kelly.
We need to fix it.
BlakeMasters.com.
Blake, wonderful job.
Keep the pressure on.
Come back on our program next week.
We're 32 days out.
Keep going, Blake.
You got the wind at your back.
Absolutely.
Ballots out in five days.
You're peaking at the right time.
It's really good.
Thank you, Blake.
Talk to you soon.
Take care.
Five days, right, Tyler, to ballots.
Got it.
Five days.
We're out.
October 12th.
That's actually good.
