So I thought it'd be interesting to find out who's watching my videos, what you guys are like, and so I'm using the YouTube analytics and a few surveys that I've done.
So at time of recording, my channel has 320,000 subscribers, and my videos have had over 72 million views, and I get about 5.5 million views a month.
My audience is overwhelmingly male, with almost 94% being men, and 6% being women.
About 42% of my audience is between 25 and 34, with 18 to 24 being the second largest age bracket, and 35 to 44 being the third.
Just under 4% of my audience is less than 18 years old.
These people mostly live in the first world, with the top 10 locations being the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
And there seems to be a remarkably consistent spread of the age demographics across these countries.
It's roughly the same for all of them.
To find out the broad political leanings of my audience, I asked them to perform a political compass test, and then tell me the results on a survey that only allows one entry per IP address.
Over 34,000 people gave me their political leanings, which included an attempt at brigading from 4chan, but to be honest with you, I don't think this had much effect.
55% of my audience falls into the libertarian left quadrant, with another 35% falling into the libertarian right.
Only 4% of my audience is authoritarian left, and finally around 7% of my audience are apparently right-leaning authoritarian.
However, this was the category subject to brigading from 4chan.
I wasn't expecting any brigading, so I didn't think to take screenshots of this as it was going along, but I was monitoring the survey as it was being filled in by people, and it was, before the brigading, 4% authoritarian left and authoritarian right.
So, 4chan, you managed to get 3%, I think, on this survey.
Well done.
I also asked my audience to do a religious affiliation survey, which got over 54,000 responses.
Over half of the respondents said that they were atheist, with another 15% saying they were agnostic, making nearly 75% of my audience that is non-religious.
The Christian denominations made up around 17% of my audience, with 6% being non-affiliated deists, around 3% were Muslim, and 1% were Jewish.
Specifically practicing religious Jews rather than racially.
So there we have it.
The average audience member for my channel is an adult man who is an atheist and a left-leaning libertarian who lives in the West.
I'd like to thank everyone who took part in the surveys and who supports me on Patreon and just takes the time to watch my videos.
I really appreciate it.
And I think a special shout out needs to go to that one person who was too lazy to answer a one question survey.
Seriously though, thanks everyone for taking part and I really it's been really interesting to know the general composition of my audience and frankly I'm actually really not surprised by any of these results.
In fact these were the general impressions I got from my audience as I've been carrying on with my channel but it's nice to be able to demonstrate it with some data.
