Hello everyone, welcome to this week in Stupid for the 6th of December 2015.
As always, if you find anything you'd like to see in this week in Stupid, please tweet using hashtag TWIS or post it to r Sargon of the CAD and I will find it.
So where to begin?
I guess we should start with police probe as fat cards dished out on the tube.
This is exactly as it sounds as well.
Police are investigating reports that female passengers on the tube have been handed printed cards saying they are fat and ugly.
What the fuck are the police gonna do?
What crime has been committed exactly?
Cara Flourish claimed that she had been given one such card and called it hateful, cowardly and could potentially upset people struggling with their confidence.
Well, I mean if there is the potential for upset, then I think we definitely should call in the cops.
I mean it's right that you went to the authorities because someone gave you a piece of paper or card with words on it that you didn't like.
That's you are exactly right to do that.
This is not a total waste of police time.
So here is the offending piece of card.
Overweight Haters Limited.
It's really not glandula, it's your gluttony.
Our organisation hates and resents fat people.
We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves.
We disapprove of your wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed.
And we do not understand why you fail to grasp that by eating less you will be better off, slimmer, happier, and find a partner who is not a perverted chubby lover.
Or even find a partner at all.
We also object that the beautiful pig is used as an insult.
You're not a pig.
You're a fat, ugly human.
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I need a safe space.
So I'm not surprised that this woman not only went to the police, but Sky News went to the hassle of reporting on this.
So Miss Flourish posted it on social media, and in another social media post, she said she wanted people to share the note to express their outrage.
Of course she did.
But the question is, who exactly is outraged?
Because it doesn't appear to be Miss Flourish.
She says, I am not upset myself.
I'm smaller than the national average.
Sure you are, sweetheart.
And not exactly obese.
Not exactly.
But this is hateful and cowardly, and could potentially upset people struggling with confidence and eating disorders.
Well, when we find someone who is upset by someone giving them a piece of card on the tube telling them that they are fat, we'll, well, we won't care then either.
But we will care even less when it's someone who's not even offended by this.
Another passenger, Sean Thomas Knox, said on twitter that he saw a girl apparently being given the same card.
He tweeted, young man just got on train at Oxford Circus, gave printed card saying you're fat to overweight girl.
He jumped off.
She read it and cried, that is so tragic.
One like equals.
One prayer, do your part.
What the fuck could she possibly have been crying over?
I mean, it's not like it would have been news news to her that she's fat, surely.
Mr. Knox called it a random act of pointless cruelty and described the man as a hipster, smartly, trendily dressed, and with a beard.
Well it seems that we get a better class of hipster in London than they do in San Francisco.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said, we are aware of leaflets being handed out on the London Underground and would urge anyone who received one to contact us.
Steve Burton from Transport for London which runs the tube said, all of our customers have the right to travel with confidence.
This sad and unpleasant form of anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
Well, I've got a message as well.
If you receive a card saying you're fat on the tube, you have a few options.
You could start to lose weight, which means this couldn't possibly happen to you in future, or you could put the card down and stop giving a shit what some twat on the tube thinks.
And on the subject of not giving a shit what other people think of you, man who called feminist writer Clementine Ford a slut on Facebook loses job.
This is of course just the latest in a long line of people who feminists have campaigned to get fired from their jobs because they have said things to them on social media they do not like.
A man has been dismissed from his job at Merritton Apartments after calling popular feminist writer and Fairfax columnist Clementine Ford a slut and sharing racist jokes from his personal Facebook page.
Now I'm going to be the first to agree that this guy is probably a complete asshole.
He's probably a total tosser.
The sort of guy you really wouldn't want to spend any time with because he's simply an unbearable cock.
Michael Nolan, who had listed himself as a supervisor for the business, wrote the offending comment under a post shared by Ford on her public Facebook page, which has close to 80,000 followers.
This comment was left on the thread of a screenshot of a man publicly saying that I would gibber less with a cock in my mouth, Ford posted.
Calling me a slut in response to that is baffling, unless this man genuinely believes women who speak out against abuse need to be taken down.
Why should I put up with that?
Well, you shouldn't put up with that.
What you should do is block the guy.
And if you really feel like you have been genuinely abused, you should either report the post to Facebook so they can take any disciplinary action against the poster, or you could contact the authorities who actually have laws against this.
But you didn't do either one of these things.
You decided to stalk through this guy's profile, find where he works, go to the hassle of finding their contact email address, and then sending them an email telling them, ooh, taddle-taddle-taddle.
That's what you decided to do.
That makes me think you are not so much offended that you have been abused or the victim of anything, but someone who was looking to exercise her power and make a big deal out of something.
In an update, Ford told followers that the Meriton Group had contacted her to confirm it had investigated the matter.
Meriton Group does not condone this kind of behaviour.
Michael Nolan was removed from the Meriton site on Saturday the 20th November pending an investigation, and he no longer works for the Merrittan Group.
And so to the Merrittan Group I would say, fucking duh.
He wasn't acting in some official capacity when he was making jokes on his private Facebook page or insulting a woman online.
That wasn't him acting as a representative of your company.
And as much as I disagree with frankly calling women sluts on their own Facebook pages, I don't see the point of that.
No good will come of it.
You know, it's an insult, that's all.
It doesn't help.
It doesn't advance any arguments.
It just ends up theoretically getting you banned, but if you do it to someone particularly vindictive, it can end up getting you fired.
But this should serve as a warning to people just to, look, you are dealing with people who won't even think twice about taking this sort of action.
So don't put your personal information on your Facebook page.
The chances are she wouldn't have been able to find it if it didn't come up under the person's name saying what they did.
She says, I did think about it before I did it, and then I decided that no, these men don't get to just go around leaving these kinds of comments and attempting to degrade women just for the hell of it.
Why should they get away with it?
Why should there be no consequences at all for them?
Okay, hang on, stop you there.
Actually, they do get to go around leaving these kinds of comments.
They have every right to do so.
And you have every right to block them and remove them from your social media presence.
You have every right to report them to the arbiters of the social media platform to see if they want to take further action with that account.
These are the consequences for leaving insulting messages on someone's Facebook page.
What makes you think that it's right to be a little internet vigilante and try and up the stakes?
I mean, have you learned nothing from Baha Mustafa?
If you start escalating these things, they will eventually come back to bite you in the ass.
And since Clementine Ford is a feminist, we get to the inevitable bit about hypocrisy.
Where she posts jokes on Facebook and Twitter, like, can you ever really wash a slut's vagina though?
As for the detail, there's just too much wear and tear in there.
I want to make it clear that there's absolutely nothing about the word slut that connects that story to this story about feminist porn star James Dean.
Now, you may have heard of this guy because he's been reported on before, such as this article from 2012 in The Guardian.
And you might be wondering, yeah, well, how exactly does a man reconcile being a porn star and also a feminist?
Someone who has sex with women for money literally objectifies these women so they can be filmed having sex to be sold to horrible, horrible men under the male gaze.
I mean, if it was a woman doing it, okay, fine, because that could be sex positive and empowering, but this is a man, part of the oppressor class, who is literally profiting from the objectification of women.
I think feminists think that this is okay, because despite the fact that what he's doing is something they would object to, he's literally the toehold in an entirely new industry that feminism does not yet have a chokehold over.
He is the first male feminist porn star, as far as I'm aware, and I've never heard of any others.
They even say this in the article about him.
Despite many people believing male porn stars to be misogynistic, the reality is they tend to be men who enjoy the company of women.
Well, that doesn't mean they're not misogynistic.
The fact porn films sometimes require performances from men that can be perceived to be misogynistic does not necessarily mean the films or the actors are misogynistic, except that they are men who are profiting from and therefore exploiting women's objectification.
But like I said, I think that feminists are prepared to overlook this because as like an outlier in an industry where feminism has no real influence, it gives them an in.
And I think that ideologically they're prepared to accept that in order to obtain the right to say, oh well this is feminist porn.
This is how feminist porn stars are.
Dean has even left productions because he didn't like the premise of the film due to it being in his opinion I suppose misogynistic.
He then goes on to describe what BDSM feminist sex is like.
This girl and I are having awesome sex and she likes to get slapped in the face.
The sex isn't punishment, it's BDSM lifestyle and they make it super clear it's the girl's fantasy.
And now I don't know about you but at this point I'm thinking mm-hmm so how long until he gets accused of rape?
Probably on social media.
I'm guessing Twitter.
And shortly after the tweet had gone viral, a couple of her co-workers and probably close friends would also make the same accusation.
And of course, none of them would have any evidence for this at all.
But being feminists in the court of public opinion, they will not only expect to be believed, but they will expect this guy to have been convicted by the accusations.
And of course, he will lose his job and be ostracized from his community.
And the answer to that question is three years.
So on November the 28th, ex-girlfriend and ex-colleague Stoya decided to go on Twitter and accuse James Dean of having raped her.
That thing where you log into the internet for a second and see people idolising the guy who raped you as a feminist.
That thing sucks.
James Dean held me down and fucked me while I said no, stop, used my safe word.
I just can't nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.
Now, I am of course sceptical of these accusations, not just because they are accusations and we need to presume the innocence of the person being accused.
I'm also skeptical because instead of going to the police and giving a factual account of what happened, this person has taken to Twitter and given a very emotionally charged account of what's happened.
And while 10,000 retweets and likes doesn't seem like an awful lot, that actually does translate into millions of impressions.
So millions of people have become aware that this person is accusing James Dean of having raped her.
Now, I'm not saying that she's making this accusation to enhance her own profile online, but that is going to be the consequence of her making this accusation.
And if there's one thing feminists like doing, it's rallying to a hashtag to defend an individual by victimizing another.
Following the accusations, the hashtag SolidarityWithStoyer began trending on Twitter, with people responding to her claims and retweeting them with messages of support.
In addition, the editor of The Frisky released a statement that Dean's regular column in the publication would be axed.
And of course, since they had the hashtag, this is where the feminist hate mob comes in.
Porn star Stoyer accused fellow Sakes icon James Dean of rape, igniting backlash against him on social media.
Stoya supporters took to Dean's Instagram over the weekend, bombarding it with hundreds of negative comments, most of which I will simply assume is a reflection of the person writing them.
Your personality is ugly rapist scum.
You deserve to be castrated.
And as I predicted, the porn industry groups cut ties to star James Dean amid sexual assault claims.
Because why not?
Why not try to perpetuate an ideology that can destroy a man's career and friendships and entire online life on the very word of a woman?
Oh yeah, and did I forget?
Two other porn stars had come onto Twitter to make similar accusations.
And the thing is, I don't think there are any criminal allegations against Dean.
I don't think he is being charged with anything.
All he can do is go on social media and say, hey look, I didn't do this.
This isn't true.
But she gets hundreds of times more coverage than he does.
Because this is the danger with what's going on here.
They aren't looking for legal ramifications.
They're looking for social ones, which are different but no less effective at destroying a man's life if they want to.
And there is no recourse here.
I mean, what is ever going to happen to Stoyer for making these accusations?
The man has been completely socially discredited and destroyed.
And he has lost all forms of income without a single criminal charge.
If you aren't terrified by that, then you must be a beneficiary of it.
And honestly, it's one of the reasons why indoctrinating children into feminism bothers me so much.
This listen and believe mentality is not only bullshit.
It is bullshit that can hurt people.
Men in particular, but I don't really see why a woman couldn't be the victim of this kind of treatment as well.
So when I see a headline like, every 16 year old in Sweden to receive a copy of We Should All Be Feminists, I think, well done, Captain Sweden.
Fucking well done.
Listen and believe, you bloody manginas.
The author of this book is also critical of modern masculinity.
We teach boys to be afraid of fear, of weakness, of vulnerability.
I'm not really surprised that it's Sweden pushing her book on everyone.
I mean, I'm not saying that that's a massive windfall for this woman, but this is probably going to be a massive windfall for this woman.
And the author also thinks that feminism is about justice.
Just so we're clear, the definition of feminism has changed conveniently to conform to her subjective preferences.
You know, it is becoming more difficult not to simply see people who say that they're feminists as bad people looking for a way to express the negative sides of their personality.
But not only be able to express them without any kind of social backlash or censure, but actively be rewarded for it.
I know that not every feminist has adopted the sort of Marxist view of feminism.
That men are an oppressor class to women.
Women are second-class citizens.
They have always been oppressed by men, and therefore it is acceptable to hate your oppressor.
But the ones that do are so loud and so obnoxious and simply vile.
Feminists have got to understand that what they were saying about Gamergate actually does apply to feminism as well.
The only difference being we actually know these people are feminists.
And the same set of Marxist principles are being applied to race relations in the United States.
I mean, just look at the social media reaction to the shooting in San Bernardino.
Two suspects were announced.
So what happened next?
Social media just exploded.
They used a hashtag that was a misspelling of the name of the city to start saying things about white men that would never be said about black women.
Or white women for that matter, or probably black men.
But no, but because everyone knew it was a white male, it's always a white male doing these shootings.
This is okay.
Because events that happened before you were born, that you have no control over, are now going to be what defines you.
It's even better than original sin because it doesn't require a talking snake.
So it's okay to be racist and sexist to white men in this way.
Because let's be honest with ourselves, it's always white men shooting up the place.
That's just what they do.
And do you know who made a really great point about this?
Chenk Yuga from The Young Turks.
In fact, he didn't just make a great point.
He went on a rant of apocalyptic proportions.
It is us.
So this is what I'm terrorized by.
We've got all this nonsense debates about Syrian refugees here.
What Syrian refugees do we have in the country?
What terrorist attacks have they done here?
None.
None, right?
You want to talk about probability and statistics and who's likely to cause you harm.
It's us.
It's us.
It's the mass shootings day in, day out.
What is it going to be in your neighborhood?
I guarantee it's coming.
Okay?
You want to be scared of something?
Be scared of something rational.
The mass shooters.
They're everywhere.
They're in Oregon.
They're in California.
They're in New Jersey.
They're in Texas.
They're everywhere.
They're in Colorado.
They're everywhere.
We are the terrorists.
We are the terrorists.
We're terrorizing ourselves.
How many times are we going to allow this?
It happens every week.
Now it happens several times a week.
And we're held hostage by the NRA and our goddamn politicians, the Republicans and some of the Democrats.
Nope, nope, I'm not going to do anything about it.
As people get butchered, massacred over and over again in the country.
Let's go invade countries based on terrorist acts.
There's non-stop terrorism in the country.
Non-stop mass shootings.
Dozens at a time killed.
Our children are massacred in Connecticut.
And we don't know a goddamn thing about it.
Oh, why?
Because the NRA greases some politicians.
Have you no bounds of reason and decency, man?
Fuck the NRA.
How dare you, man?
They're killing our kids.
They're killing our citizens.
What are you doing?
Oh, Ted Cruz takes money from the NRA.
Joe Manchin takes money from the NRA.
These guys, oh, no, no, we can't do anything.
Look at how corrupt our politics is.
Over 80% of NRA members say, for God's sake, do a federal background check.
I've NRA members, okay?
Let alone over 90% of the country.
But we don't have a democracy.
We have politicians who are systemically corrupt.
They're all bought.
They're bribed.
Every single one of them.
They're bribed by the NRA.
So they, well, I don't care how many of your kids die.
I don't care how many of the citizens die.
I don't represent them.
I represent the people who write the checks.
NRA writes my checks.
Screw you and the citizens.
I'm going to let the terrorists rampage throughout the country.
That's what we have now.
This is not a democracy.
God damn it.
The federal background checks over 90% of the country.
What does it take?
What does it take?
This isn't a fucking democracy.
You sons of bitch, corrupt assholes, and they're murdering all of us.
They're murdering us all across the country.
You know who's next?
You're next.
Your community is next.
Wherever you live is next.
It's not the Muslims.
It's not the terrorists.
The shooters of San Berdino were ISIS supporters Syed Farouk and his wife, Tafsheen Malik, which I'm sure will affect the narrative not one jot.
So while he happened to be factually incorrect, let's give him a hand.
That was grade A fear-mongering from Cheng Yuga.
You're next.
I mean, that's that's Bill O'Reilly levels of fear-mongering, Chen.
Well done.
You've finally made it, fam.
And don't get me wrong, I'm in no way a fan of the platitudes that the right wing are putting out either.
The endless platitudes are completely pointless, and I would rather them say nothing at all.
However, if they have to say something, I would rather them say something as benign as this than go off on a rampage about how bad white people are.
But don't I get it?
It's us!
It's us!
We're the terrorists!
Anyway, after the progressives were finished shitting the bed, MSNBC and CNN decided they would go and visit the apartments of the people who are suspected of this crime.
Which led to the baffling and cringeworthy investigation by the media, who claimed that they were let in by the landlord of the apartment, holding up passports and IDs and things like this.
I mean, actually putting this information out on a live broadcast without it being censored like it is here.
And you would think that that would be maybe a crime zone the FBI wouldn't people have access to, and the FBI didn't think they had access to it.
This is despite the fact that an NBC spokeswoman has said, oh no, this is fine.
The FBI have approved this.
And it turns out the landlord didn't say they could go in either.
Apparently they rushed and kind of broke in, apparently using a crowbar to gain access.
And then went digging around the family apartment, finding, you know, the photo albums or, you know, copies of the Quran as you would expect in a Muslim household.
And then rummaging through like the kids' stuff and picking up IDs and showing them on camera, as I said.
But the stupidest thing was an Associated Press article on the New York Times.
Stories of those who survived the mass shooting in California.
This story has been corrected to eliminate the section attributed to Marie A. Parker, a social media account that led AP to a person who used that name and claimed to be a witness later posted the anecdote was a hoax.
Really.
So let's hear the anecdote.
What were you suckered in by?
Parker said she had sprinted for a nearby building where she hunkered down with a handful of other people, some of whom were hysterical or crying.
Among them was a woman who had encountered the gunman in an alley as he prepared for his deadly rampage.
He told the woman not to move or anything.
When she asked what he was doing, he replied, for necessary ethics, according to Parker.
The woman said he had a strange emblem on his shirt with the letters GG on it.
I'm honestly becoming more impressed with the trolls.
They are managing to do this on a more and more regular basis, and the press keeps fucking falling for it.
And then looking like complete fucking morons.
I mean, I didn't realise that Sam Hyde was part of Million Dollar Extreme when I was making my video about the universities, but at least I didn't accuse him of being a fucking terrorist.
But here is where the progressives really impress me, with just how low they will go.
San Bernardino killers were radical, ISIS-loving monsters, but one of their victims was just as bigoted.
I am just in awe of the total lack of class on display by Linda Stasi here.
I mean, I don't know who she is, I don't know anything about her, but I can't imagine anyone who isn't a total piece of shit writing this article.
And I really hate to do this, because this is the sort of thing that you will do at the drop of a hat.
I mean, you're doing it now.
And it seems to be projection, and what you're complaining about is the guy's political leanings.
He's right-wing, he supports the NRA, he's anti-Islam, and he's vocal about these things on the internet.
That for you is enough to write, it's okay, one of their victims was just as bigoted.
But you know, bringing this to light really doesn't do you any favours, because it sounds like you're making the case for him being right.
He was killed by Muslim terrorists.
So his screeds against Islam, as you put it, don't sound so fucking irrational, do they?
And I don't want anyone thinking that I support demonizing Muslims because of Islamic terrorism.
I don't.
And you know what?
I actually agree that ideological Islam, political Islam, is a problem.
I completely agree.
It's totally illiberal.
I can't agree to almost anything about it.
But that doesn't mean I think that we should demonize all Muslims as if they are total fucking ideologues.
They obviously aren't.
So many are Muslim in name alone.
This is one of the reasons that I am in opposition to Britain deciding to bomb Syria, which it did do this week.
Now, I am in opposition to this, and mainly because I think bombing places creates more problems than it solves, especially if you don't have an army to go in and occupy the territory after it's been bombed.
So I'm not going to comment on that now.
But what I am going to comment on is David Cameron accusing Jeremy Corbyn of being a terrorist sympathizer because he is against Syrian airstrikes.
Cameron, don't you have a fucking pig to pork or something?
That's a fucking ridiculous thing to say and only an idiot would say it.
David Cameron appealed to conservative MPs to give him an overall parliamentary majority in favour of military action in Syria by warning them against voting alongside Jeremy Corbyn and a bunch of terrorist sympathizers.
Really, Cameron, that's where we're going.
We're going not only with slander and guilt by association, but we're also going down the George Bush path of foreign policy.
You're either with us or you're with the terrorists.
What about, let's go back a bit further, let's get to the Hermann Goering.
Just, you're not being patriotic enough.
We can get them to do anything if we use the right tactics.
And well done, Nikki Morgan, for towing the party line.
That didn't make you look like a fucking moron.
Listen, you chuckle fucks.
Everyone knows that bombing creates collateral damage.
I can't believe I have to say this, but we're empathising with the native Syrians who are being oppressed by ISIS that you are going to blow up because they are being oppressed.
Is there a preferable way?
Well, I guess off the top of my head, I would just say in principle, sending an army in would actually be better.
Not only would you actually be able to effectively prevent ISIS from taking action by occupying the land with troops, but there is at least a chance your troops aren't just going to shoot innocent people.
Whereas we know bombs are going to murder innocent people because a bomb is indiscriminate.
Anyway, like I said, I will talk about this later and I can see this being something that people will want to contest with me.
And finally, activists charged with making Twitter threats to black students and staff at Keene University.
Oh yes, this activist right here, the president of the Pan-African Student Union, left this rally about halfway through.
She apparently went to a computer station located in the university library, created an anonymous Twitter account, which she used to post the racially charged threats of violence against black students and staff at Keene.
She then went back to the rally and drew attention to the threats that she herself had posted.
These threats included her threatening to shoot every black woman and male at the college, obviously posted anonymously.
Apparently the university has its own police department, which I'm sure is very necessary.
And then a Facebook post said the campus would remain open despite the threats, because they were nonsense.
And although the Twitter account was shut down the following morning, many students at the university said they feared for their safety.
Because yeah, why the fuck not?
