Sources just confirmed to CNN that the United States has seized an oil tanker that had been linked to Venezuela.
Now, Russia is responding to this seizure, saying they are the owners of this vessel.
The Trump administration has not acknowledged the Russian status, claiming the ship to be stateless.
But nevertheless, you can see the sensitive nature of the situation.
Russia had sent ships to track and maybe even protect this vessel over the last 24 hours.
The United States has been tracking it across the Atlantic.
It's the same ship that the Coast Guard had tried to seize last month near Venezuela.
They were unable to board it, and the ship changed course and fled.
But now, the breaking news, the United States has seized it.
steve bannon
This is the primal scream of a dying regime.
Pray for our enemies because we're going to medieval on this people.
You're going to not get a free shot on all these networks lying about the people.
The people have had a belly full of it.
I know you don't like hearing that.
I know you're trying to do everything in the world to stop that, but you're not going to stop it.
It's going to happen.
jake tapper
And where do people like that go to share the big lie?
MAGA Media.
I wish in my soul, I wish that any of these people had a conscience.
steve bannon
Ask yourself, what is my task and what is my purpose?
If that answer is to save my country, this country will be saved.
unidentified
Here's your host, Stephen K. Bannon.
steve bannon
It's Wednesday, 7th, January, Year of the Lord, 2026.
This next hour is going to be packed.
We're going to fit it all in.
I want to go back to Todd Wood.
So it's called the Escalatory Ladder.
Todd, you're very familiar with that.
Pete Hegseth, our great Secretary of War, that oversaw, once again, another precision military operation of incredible complexity.
Now, we are going to have a writer from the Daily Telegraph on at 5 o'clock that's broken a story that has people's head exploding about meetings that took place in Qatar with the vice president down there in Venezuela.
And she might have been kind of, how can I say this?
Maybe on the Trump team beforehand.
He's going to walk through reporting he has that backs up that thesis.
He put the story out and it's blown up.
Todd, but Pete Hegseth, who oversaw that, we had a quarantine.
And Rubio said it says, look, the way we're going to do this is use our naval forces.
We have, as President Trump says, a vast armada off the coast of Argentina off the coast of Venezuela.
We've had it there for a while.
It's a carrier strike group.
We've also got an amphib ready group.
I think there's 12 to 14,000 fleet Marines and sailors off there.
We're going to use that smartly with the quarantine to leverage their oil policy and other things.
And yesterday, we redirected $2 billion, I think 50 million barrels of oil to the United States of America and away from the Chinese Communist Party.
Today, Hegset says it's a blockade.
And in naval terms, as you know, that's an escalatory.
That's bigger than a, that's bigger than a quarantine.
At the same time, on the high seas, special operators, JSOC, seized essentially a Russian vessel.
And as you said, you believe that there are special operators on the vessel even before the helicopters came in.
A retired Air Force general has gotten to one of the war room engine room guys and saying, hey, tell Bannon and Todd, I think there's more than oil.
It's kind of riding heavy in the sea light and seas.
I'm thinking it's dropping off more than oil at various places.
He believes there's something else on that ship.
So walk us through what happened.
How was it taken?
Is this America?
Is this an act of war?
We go up the escalatory ladder.
Is this an act of war against Putin and Russia?
Is President Trump putting it on notice?
We're not going to play any games here, sir.
l todd wood
Steve, well, the op has been practiced a lot.
I mean, this is done in JSOC via exercise all the time.
So, well rehearsed, nothing new there.
I didn't see anything out of the ordinary with them boarding the ship via Helliborn assault.
And as I said, likely they were on board or close to it well before those helicopters got there.
As far as what's going on geopolitically, I see this in a bigger picture.
It's obviously hemispheric defense.
I mean, we're taking it's the Monroe Doctrine, Donroe Doctrine, whatever you want to call it.
But if you look at it from a bigger perspective, it may be a way to peace in Ukraine, right?
If we can get Russia and at least out of Venezuela and other areas in our hemisphere, then maybe there's a deal to be made in Ukraine for peace.
Europe doesn't want that.
And I see this is the big struggle is to get that war ended.
And we obviously are protecting our hemisphere.
So maybe there's a deal.
Okay, you know what?
You're going to get what you want in Ukraine, but we want you out of these areas.
steve bannon
But hang on.
I see what you're saying.
Hang on.
I see what you're saying.
The sector, but spheres of influence.
But just yesterday, and I've got Harnow, I've got a whole team coming on at five because we're going to address this.
We've got to make some time to do this.
In Paris yesterday, and I think Witkoff and Jarrett are over there dealing with, they're having meetings with the Syrians and the Israelis to bring to get that thing settled down.
Zelensky shows up.
They got a sidebar meeting.
And now I hear not just about American security guarantees, and the Germans were not there for the signing.
But the French and the British have essentially signed an agreement with Zelensky.
Now, the Germans are not party to this.
The Americans are not party to this, although they're leaking all kinds of information that we will be party to it to set up actual military hubs, I guess it's called, of troops, not a written security guarantee, not a contract, but near the line of contact with wherever the ceasefire is and wherever the Russian army is and wherever they agree, maybe they back up an inch, maybe they stay where they are, but wherever that line of contact, these military hubs will be up there with troops,
with troops of France who can't afford it and the British who can't afford it.
But this is what you're doing.
How can you say you can see any peace deal coming out of this?
Because the Russians are not going to agree.
They're not going to sit there and agree to have NATO troops, including it looks like this thing is predicated upon the Americans coming in.
They're never going to agree to that, are they?
l todd wood
No, and they better not.
I mean, we don't want to be in that war.
I've been screaming it for 12 years.
I don't think Putin will allow that, as you said.
And as I just mentioned, it's Europe that is standing in the way of peace here.
There's a deal to be made.
Europe doesn't want peace.
And as you said, the French and the British don't have the capability to put anything in there and sustain it.
The Russians know that.
The Russians will keep going until they get what they want if the deal is not made.
So I firmly believe the U.S. needs to completely back out of Ukraine.
And maybe this is a way to get that done with some kind of deal with Russia via Venezuela.
A lot of this is theater.
This could be theater.
You say the ship is riding high.
Maybe it is.
Maybe there was nothing in it to begin with.
Maybe it was supposed to be picking up oil.
I don't know the specifics of the ship, but I do know that Trump is making it very clear of what his priorities are in this area of the world.
steve bannon
They had expert after expert on last night.
It was really sickening on CNN and MSNBC.
And McFaul right there, in fact, in the cold open, we had that loudmouth that's been wrong on everything about Ukraine for almost, what, four years, three years, going on four years, dead wrong on everything.
More people dead because of loudmouths like this guy saying, I don't know why Trump wants it.
You know, troops on, it's not about troops.
Greenland will be look at to secure the Greenland-Iceland-UK gap, what we call it, that slot where Russian submarines would come out, both fast attack and boomers.
You could track them right away.
President Trump Brubio is now briefing people that, hey, it's not going to be military.
We're actually going to make a deal with them.
It's an indigenous population.
The Danes have never put any money in there.
The people have no economic opportunity.
We're going to make a deal.
We're going to offer to buy it.
We're going to offer to buy it from them and heck with the Danes.
And so now they're completely melted down on that.
And McFaul is saying, I don't know any strategic reason.
There's a huge strategic reason for Greenland.
It makes total sense when you think a hemispheric defense from the Arctic down to the Gulf of America and the Caribbean.
We got to clean out the CCP lake down there.
You talk about the Panama Canal, control of that, then all the way down to Latin America, where President Trump's cleaning up a place that needs cleaning up, particularly Venezuela.
What are your thoughts on this?
You think the Russians are going to sit there and agree to get all their troops and all this support at Mador?
Because Russia, in this regard, looks a little bit like a paper tiger.
And China, the CCP, this is a huge loss of face.
That's where they had their, I think the woman who's the interior ministry, she came up today and lit us up and almost said it's an act of war what we're doing and taking their and taking their oil, sir.
l todd wood
Yeah, Russia doesn't have the capability to fight us in this region, just like in Syria when they backed away.
They're tied up in Ukraine.
They have to focus on that.
What is going down, in my opinion, is the takedown of a large organized, massive organized crime cartel, if you want to say it.
It's not just the drug cartels.
And it's in Europe, it's in Ukraine, and it's in Venezuela.
And you're seeing both of those taken down.
And that is, I've called it many times before, the organized crime safe house in Ukraine.
They can do anything they want.
Same in Venezuela, and they were launching unrestricted warfare into the U.S.
So, what I see, that's the overall picture I see.
Putin is not a threat to Western Europe.
He doesn't even take Donbass at this point.
Yes, their military is much stronger than before the war.
Their stores of weapons are producing 10 to 1 what NATO produces.
And, you know, maybe in 20 years, they could approach going into the Baltics or something, but they're not a threat right now, conventionally.
They are nuclear-wise, but they are not a conventional threat.
And they're definitely not a conventional threat in our hemisphere.
I think Putin realizes that, and there's a deal to be made.
I'm going to keep saying that.
I want to see that bridge between Russia and Alaska and lots of commerce going on there and an explosion of wealth in North America.
That's what I think Trump sees.
steve bannon
Todd, there's a lot, you know, Tel Aviv Levin, they're all getting worked up now.
They want American interdiction with the Israelis, IDF, Mossad, into the situation in Persian.
I'm saying, hey, the Persian people look right, and the MULAs are firing on them.
They're showing they have no regard to it, the people out there, because the economy is in total collapse, as I said it was going to be if you just enforce the sanctions.
Now, the biggest one is not being enforced, and that is doing the same thing at Straits of Hermuz that we're doing off the coast of Venezuela.
And I've been there in those carrier battle groups.
It's so blocked up when they come out.
You can shut it down right there.
You can quarantine it right then.
Should we be doing shutting off the Mulas of their biggest cash flow like we've shut off the Venezuelans from their biggest cash flow of the regime there by just interdicting?
Start with a quarantine.
If you got to go up the escalatory ladder to a blockade, but no oil comes out from the Moolah's, no cash comes from the Chinese Communist Party.
Because if you cut off Venezuela and you cut off the Persian oil for the CCP, they're not going to be a lot of big talk about what they're going to do in Taiwan, sir.
l todd wood
Well, I'll say it again.
I said it on your show recently.
I don't want an American conflict in Iran.
That should not be on our table.
But I am told that there's going to be some military action.
I'm not sure who's going to be involved in it, whether the U.S. and Israel or both, but I'm told that is pending.
And, you know, yes, we should be shutting down the tanker flow long before we take military action.
And there's no hurry here.
Iran's not going anywhere.
As you said, I don't think the nuclear program is as far along as has been advertised.
And we need to just continue to put pressure on the regime and let the people on the ground in Iran take care of it, which they're doing.
By the way, in Western Iran, I can't pronounce the name Anaban or something like that.
A city was taken over by the civilians and the IRCG was thrown out.
So this is big news.
It's happening and it just needs to continue to happen all the way across the country.
steve bannon
Let the Persians do it.
Let the Persians take care of their problem.
They know the problems.
They know the economy.
They know what bad guys these Moodles are.
Let the Persians don't need foreign interdiction.
You particularly don't need Israel in the United States jumping in there because we're going to get blamed for everything and you're going to get sucked in here.
There's many ways to let the Persian people do this.
Todd, where do people go to all your news sites?
What's the central place they go for all the news?
l todd wood
CDM.press, put us in your scan daily.
We would really appreciate it.
Sign up for our social media.
We got deplatformed, lost a half million followers.
We're trying to rebuild.
So that would be very helpful.
Thank you.
CDM underscore press.
steve bannon
We all got deplatformed.
Good way to build it back.
Having great news.
Thank you, Todd.
Appreciate you.
l todd wood
Take care.
steve bannon
So we got Comer's Oversight Committee.
We've got there's a presser starting here momentarily with Caroline Levitt in the press briefing room.
And Bobby Kennedy and Brooke Rollins are going to be there.
So when you have the agriculture and Bobby Kennedy, that's make America healthy again, using both the food and the pharmaceutical, right?
Bobby Kennedy's doing such a great job there.
Big announcer the other day on vaccines.
Brooke Rollins, associate announced today, we're going to cut to that.
We've also got a lot more, so much intent.
We're going to get it all done.
And five o'clock, we're going to take a broader view and drill down about exactly what is going on in all, and particularly in NATO and Europe, Russia.
The complete meltdown as President Trump tries to basically build the construct of hemispheric defense.
He's been very upfront.
He's studied closely the debacle of Iraq.
And he is sworn to not allow those things to happen again.
And I think if you look at what's happening, it's very smart.
Particularly the CCP on their back foot right now.
Huge loss of face.
$2 billion of loyals to them redirected to the United States of America by the United States Navy.
In fact, Captain Final joined us tonight to talk about quarantines, blockades, all of it.
What does it mean?
Short commercial break.
We're going to return in the war room in just a moment.

You know, the understanding of geopolitics, national security, intelligence just doesn't make you a more informed citizen, help you understand the world more.
And we don't do this so that you're the smartest person at the little league game sitting in the stands or you're the smartest person at the backyard barbecue.
It's to make you a more effective member and have more agency in the mega movement, but it also can roll into your personal and your financial life, if you understand this.
It's one of the reasons we have Jim Rickards as one of our contributors, a great contributor.
Rickardswarroom.com.
He's got this newsletter called Strategic Intelligence.
It's based upon what he calls predictive analytics.
It's one of the reasons that Rickards is kind of revered among people, particularly in capital markets, that he has a real understanding because he's worked in this space for, I don't know, 50 years.
Predictive analytics.
And this is why Strategic Intelligence kind of has a renowned following, right?

So, Trevor Comstock, momentarily, we're going to go to, I think, hopefully a briefing in the White House briefing room.
Caroline Levitt has announced it.
Bobby Kennedy is going to be there in Brooke Rollins, which means it's a combination of what is really Make America Healthy again, the agriculture part and the food part and the medical part, the pharmaceutical part, which Bobby's been so good of kind of redirecting.
It's the whole reason you started Sacred Human Health, these kind of handcrafted products that you guys have done that have all the natural ingredients.
And quite frankly, we just gotten such great feedback from the audience.
What do you got for us today?
trevor comstock
Yeah, thanks for having me, Steve.
Good to see you.
A couple of things I want to mention.
Number one, we are still running our New Year sale all the way through today.
So just make sure to use code 2026 at checkout for 15% off any one-time order.
Again, that will be good through today.
And then also, I'm super excited to announce that we just launched our newest product, which is our Sacred Healing Salve.
It's already been selling super fast.
So I'm hoping that we don't have to list it as out of stock soon.
But either way, we're making sure that we keep up with inventory.
And just a little background on it.
It is handmade in small batches with organic ingredients.
And there's no artificial additives or anything artificial within it.
And I'll just, again, a little background on it.
What really makes the remedy so effective is due to the organic Comfrey, which is the main ingredient.
And Comfrey has been used for centuries to support things like pain relief, inflammation, bruising, and even tissue repair.
So it essentially helps your body actually recover and repair instead of just masking the discomfort.
So a lot of people like to use it for things like sore muscles, joint pains, sprains, swelling, as well as arthritis support.
So essentially, you just rub it onto any area of your body that needs pain relief.
It's like a salve or a balm.
So just a little bit goes a long way.
But we also pair the comfrey with other skin supportive herbs and nourishing fats to help soothe things like cuts, scrapes, burns, and even insect bites.
So it's incredibly powerful and versatile.
And again, it's great for your muscles, your joints, bruises, itching, cuts, and even eczema.
So similar to the tallow if you have a little bit of separation or inflammation.
steve bannon
Trevor, Trevor, Trevor, we got to bounce.
Where do people go to the website and contact you?
We got to bounce to the briefing room.
Where do people go, sir?
Today?
trevor comstock
All good.
Yeah, yeah.
You go to sacredhumanhealth.com and then make sure to use code 2026 for 15% off any one-time order and let us know if you have any questions.
steve bannon
Contact Trevor.
He's there.
He's a CEO that interacts with people, founder, interacts with people.
Thank you so much, brother.
Let's now go to the White House and briefly.
karoline leavitt
The Trump administration took strong action to bar hospitals from performing dangerous, irreversible, life-altering transgender procedures on children.
The Trump administration announced funding awards to states through the Rural Health Transformation Program, an unprecedented $50 billion investment established under President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill.
The Trump administration has also worked with 18 states across the country to ban junk food purchases using SNAP benefits starting this year.
And thank you for leading that effort, Secretary Rollins.
Additionally, President Trump took historic action to secure most favored nation drug pricing and secured deals with major pharmaceutical companies to massively lower the cost of prescription drugs.
And those effects are being implemented as we speak.
Americans are going to continue to see the result of these incredible deals the president cut.
And I know President Trump and this team behind me worked incredibly hard to lower those drug costs for Americans.
On Monday, the CDC adopted common sense updates to America's childhood vaccination schedule based solely on the gold standard of science.
This action empowers parents and physicians to make the best individualized decisions to protect our children while also restoring much-needed confidence in our public health system.
And as a Maha mom myself, I'm very grateful for that.
So thank you, Secretary Kennedy.
To build on this progress, the Trump administration is now updating federal nutrition standards and guidelines to ensure that Americans have the most accurate, data-driven information supported by science and hard facts, not special interests or partisan ideology.
President Trump has tasked two of the great individuals behind me, USDA Secretary Rollins and HHS Secretary Kennedy, with collaborating on this vitally important project.
And today they are here to officially unveil the 2025 to 2030 Dietary Guidelines for America.
These new guidelines are informed by the best and most reliable research on health and nutrition, particularly as it relates to the role of our diets in the prevalence of chronic disease in the country.
They are also these guidelines are easy to read and understand, so every American, young and old, can access this information that literally has the power to change lives.
But these are not just an updated guideline.
These are the foundation to all federal food programs in our country.
These new guidelines are going to update the food that is served to America's children in our public schools, to the plates that are served to our great men in uniform in our military, our veterans, and the food that they are consuming at the VA.
And these new guidelines are also going to impact nutritional programs for the needy in our country, such as WIC and Head Start.
Unfortunately, for decades, federal dollars has promoted low-quality, highly processed foods that lead to scores of long-term health issues, which means Americans have gone broke because of these health issues.
Faulty dietary guidelines of the past stacked the deck against healthy eating and food options for everyday American families, which has fueled the chronic disease epidemic and jacked up the health care costs of households across the country.
This failed approach in our public health system ends today.
When these guidelines are followed, Americans will be saving themselves thousands of dollars.
If we want to help cut health care costs in our country, we must become a healthier country.
According to the CEA, poor diet is the root cause of obesity, which accounts for $400 billion in medical spending each year.
A healthier America will lead to a more affordable America.
The new dietary guidelines from the Trump administration will ensure federal dollars go to real food to improve public health and therefore save the American people their hard-earned cash over the course of their lives.
So, with that, I am going to hand it over to Secretary Kennedy.
The great people behind me will give remarks and then we'll get into QA for the officials that are here on this specific topic.
They will leave because they're all very busy people, and then I will open it up to QA with the rest of you on the rest of the news in the world.
So, thank you, and we'll start with Secretary Kennedy.
robert f kennedy-jr
Thank you, Caroline.
unidentified
Thank you.
robert f kennedy-jr
Today marks a decisive change in federal nutrition policy, made possible by President Trump's leadership and the work of Mahamoms and public health advocates who demanded reform.
Today, in accordance with President Trump's directive, Rook and I will release the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025 to 2030, the most significant reset of federal nutrition policy in history.
These guidelines replace corporate-driven assumptions with common sense goals and gold standard scientific integrity.
These new guidelines will revolutionize our nation's food culture and make America healthy again.
For decades, Americans have grown sicker while health care costs have soared.
The reason is clear: the hard truth is that our government has been lying to us to protect corporate profit-taking, telling us that these food-like substances were beneficial to public health.
Federal policy promoted and subsidized highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates and turned a blind eye to the disastrous consequences.
Today, the lies stop.
The new guidelines recognize that whole, nutrient-dense food is the most effective path to better health and lower health care costs.
Protein and healthy fats are essential, and were wrongly discouraged in prior dietary guidelines.
We are ending the war on saturated fats.
Diets rich in vegetables and fruits reduce disease risk more effectively than many drugs.
Whole grains outperform refined carbohydrates.
Added sugars, especially sugar-sweetened beverages, drive metabolic disease.
And today, our government declares war on added sugar.
Highly processed foods loaded with additives, added sugar, and excess salt damage health and should be avoided.
As Secretary of Health and Human Services, my message is clear: eat real food.
Nothing matters more for health care outcomes, economic productivity, military readiness, and fiscal stability.
The dietary guidelines shape dozens of federal feeding programs, including Head Start.
These standards affect 45 million school lunches every day, meals for 1.3 million active duty service members, and food served to 9 million veterans in VA hospitals.
Today begins the work of aligning those programs with affordable, whole, nutrient-dense food.
Implementation requires coordination across the government.
I'm working with many of my fellow cabinet secretaries to deliver results.
I want to thank Bobby Mukamala, thank you very much, who is the president of the American Medical Association for committing to mobilize the medical community on nutrition.
And I thank also the American Academy of Pediatrics for partnering on this effort.
I also look forward to working with Dr. Jay Bhattachara and Dr. Marty McCary to fund and prioritize rigorous nutrition research at the NIH and at the FDA.
The stakes are measurable and severe.
A Johns Hopkins analysis estimates that 48% of every federal taxpayer dollar now goes to health care.
The CDC reports that 90% of health care spending treats chronic disease.
That means that 40%, 40 cents of every dollar that taxpayers pay in this country is going to treat diseases that could be averted through good food.
The United States has the highest obesity and type 2 diabetes rate in the developed world.
We spend three times more per capita than the European nation, European Union on health care.
Yet our life expectancy is five years lower, largely due to diet-related chronic disease.
Our childhood obesity rate is five times higher than countries like France.
One-third of U.S. teens have pre-diabetes, over 35% are overweight or obese, and 20% of young adults have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
77% of military-aged Americans are ineligible for military service because of diet-related conditions.
If a foreign adversary sought to destroy the health of our children, to cripple our economy, to weaken our national security, there would be no better strategy than to addict us to ultra-processed foods.
It's shocking that our own government helped to drive these cataclysmic changes in our diet.
The damage is real, it is preventable, and President Trump has ordered it to end.
If the United States reduced obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer's at Japanese levels, we would save approximately $600 billion a year.
About 50% of Medicare's projected long-term deficit or $5,000 per family annually.
Current policy worsens the problem.
42 million Americans rely on SNAP.
Our common purchases include sugary drinks, candy, and chips.
78% of SNAP recipients are enrolled in Medicaid.
And 90% of Medicaid spending goes to chronic disease.
These incentives raise health care costs and undermine health.
This must change.
The new framework centers on protein and healthy fats, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.
And you can see the food pyramid here.
It's upside down, a lot of you will say.
But it was actually upside down before, and we just writed it.
For the first time, the dietary guidelines directly address ultra-processed foods and set firm sugar limits in federal procurement, driving a significant reduction in added sugar in school meals.
I want to thank President Trump for his leadership and the partners committed to ensuring that federal food dollars support real food and better health.
Thank you.
And I want to introduce my partner and a friend, Brooke Rollins, who is an extraordinary collaborator on this.
brooke rollins
Thank you.
brooke leslie rollins
Well, good morning, everyone.
Happy New Year.
What an honor to be here.
brooke rollins
I think this is Caroline's first press conference back, and what a great way to start the new year, 2026.
brooke leslie rollins
I want to thank Secretary Kennedy.
Your commitment to the well-being of Americans is such a blessing to this nation.
We have been working on these new dietary guidelines really since almost day one.
Bobby and I were voted on on the same day and sworn in on the same day.
So I think the partnership from minute one has been real and extraordinary.
As Secretary Kennedy mentioned, America is in the middle of the worst chronic health crisis in our nation's history.
Over 40% of the roughly 73 million children in the United States have at least one chronic health condition, and nearly 90% of health care spending goes toward treating people with chronic disease.
Secretary Kennedy mentioned that, but it is really important to keep underscoring that fact.
This crisis is unacceptable.
It prevents Americans from living healthy and happy lives.
And for decades, decades, under both Republicans and Democrats, federal incentives have promoted low-quality, highly processed foods and pharmaceutical interventions instead of prevention.
As a result, nutrient-dense whole foods grown by America's farmers and ranchers have been increasingly displaced.
The Trump administration is acutely aware of this danger, and today this announcement is making a major step in doing something about it.
Thankfully, the solution is simple and should be non-controversial.
Eat real food.
This is the main message of the new dietary guidelines for Americans 2025 to 2030, which encourage households and schools to prioritize whole nutrient-dense foods.
That means more protein, more dairy, more healthy fats, more whole grains, more fruits and vegetables, whether they are fresh, frozen, canned, or dried.
We are finally putting real food back at the center of the American diet.
Real food that nourishes the body, restores health, fuels energy, and builds strength.
This pivot also leans into the abundant, affordable, and healthy food supply already available from America's incredible farmers and ranchers.
By making milk, raising cattle, and growing wholesome fruits, vegetables, and grains, they hold the key to solving our national health crisis.
And President Trump is mobilizing government to ensure families across America have greater access to these healthy foods.
In the past 12 months, inflation has slowed and wages have risen for the first time in five years.
Under President Trump's leadership, prices for everyday staples are declining and more help is on the way.
Recent data show that fruits, vegetables, dairy, and proteins, including eggs, pork, and ground beef, are becoming even more affordable every day for our American people.
American households enjoy the most affordable and abundant food in the world, and today's release only reinforces that reality.
A healthy meal is within reach for all American families.
These new dietary guidelines are a framework which is meant to be customized to meet the needs, the preferences, and the financial status of all American families.
For example, a meal including such items as pork or eggs or whole milk or cheese, tomatoes, other fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, whole grain bread, corn tortilla can cost today right around $3 for that meal.
$3.
And soon USDA will finalize our stocking standards, which means that those businesses in America that take the SNAP benefit, what they are required to stock in order to take that benefit.
By the way, that's almost 250,000 retailers across America.
That very soon we will be finalizing that rule that will mandate all 250,000 retailers in America double the type of staple foods that they provide for America's SNAP households.
This means healthier options will be in reach for all American families, regardless of circumstance, at levels never seen before in our country.
These dietary guidelines are foundational to so many USDA programs and their introduction marks the first step in connecting America's schools and dinner plates to the best of American agriculture.
Make no mistake, under President Trump's leadership, we are restoring common sense, we are restoring scientific integrity, and we are restoring accountability to federal food and health policy.
The new guidelines are all about putting the well-being of Americans first, exactly where it should have been all along.
This is the foundation that will make America healthy again, not just for those of us alive today, but for our children and our children's children and those coming behind.
I want to end by saying, God bless American families.
By the way, God must bless the American farmer and rancher.
steve bannon
Bobby Kennedy working together.
unidentified
It's unbelievable.
steve bannon
Everything you've been told about food, to me, you're healthy, wrong.
They're sorting it out.
Two hitters right there.
I love it.
Johnny Kahn joins me.
John, I want to get this song in this segment.
Look, you're already beloved for American Heart.
We play it every day in our A-Block, right?
Audiences loves it.
All the other songs you've come out with, people love.
Tell us about this new song that you're breaking today for us.
jon kahn
This new song is my response to losing my home in the Palisades fire.
And it was just the way I dealt with it, which is what I think good art is all about is sort of dealing with hardship in a way that's productive and universal to other people.
And although the song's particularly about the fires, I'm hoping that in a broader sense, that it moves people that have had catastrophic loss in their lives, whether it be death, illness.
I mean, the fires is one thing, but everybody deals with loss on a daily basis.
steve bannon
But this is a catastrophic.
And Johnny, I'm going to hold you.
Andrew Breipart's partner, the guy that every day we hear his great voice in that song, that moving song, the Tea Party anthem, American Heart.
Let's hear this on the first year anniversary.
Folks, today, one year ago was the Palisades Fire.
Let's go ahead and play it.
We're going to bring John Kahn back.
jon kahn
I know now I was the only one in my own way.
And somehow I'll find the will so I can find a way through the ashes, broken matches.
Nothing less than should have lasted All that matters now is where you turn Clear skies you can see for miles After it burns Where'd you go?
You left so much behind That you can't take with Cause you can't take what is mine And if I ever should see your face, I'd tell you, go back to hell, Cause that's the only place I won't look for you.
Wasteness Should have returned You can see
unidentified
down.
jon kahn
That beautiful rain Don't stop now And from those ashes can matches Something good.
In all that tragic, There's now eternal cause.
I can see John
steve bannon
Kahn, incredible.
Walk me through the song again.
This is it's the first year anniversary of the Palisades Everything you had, I keep telling people every dream you have is in their home every memory every dream you ever had was in that home, correct?
jon kahn
That's correct.
I was there for 25 years.
I grew up in the Palisades, went to high school there, bought my first and only home in the Palisades.
And I do want to tell the posse one thing, Steve, because it's important to me.
And that is that you were one of the first people to reach out to me.
And I'll never forget it.
I was sitting on my dad's sofa.
I had a pair of jeans, a couple of shirts, and that's about it, some guitars.
And I got a text from you and it said, whatever you need, brother.
And I will never forget that you texted me that.
And I wanted the posse to know that.
But this song, you know, this song came about, you know, it was very hard after the fires to even pick up a guitar.
It took me months, Steve.
And I would walk by them.
I'd never pick them up.
I'd never sit at the piano.
And then a few months later, I just sat down at the piano and this song came, you know, poured out.
And I think it's, it's kind of a, I'm talking to the fire in the second person, but I'm also telling myself, you know, as a conservative, we believe that when you get knocked down, you get back up and you keep swinging.
And even though in my heart I have no idea what I was going to do or how to deal with what I was facing, I was telling myself through this song and everybody else, hopefully, to get up, see the clear skies and know that you got a future and you're not going to sit there and wallow in this and you're going to figure out what you're going to do.
steve bannon
I'm going to hold you through the break.
Do people go to iTunes right now?
Can they download this?
It's available.
jon kahn
Yeah, it's on all the streamers.
You can find it on the link on my Instagram and Twitter and all that stuff.
unidentified
But it's on all the streamers.
steve bannon
Hang on for a second.
I'm going to hold you through the breaks.
On the first anniversary of the Palisades fire, John Kahn.
Johnny Conn, you're putting this out on the anniversary of this.
It's amazing you did the song in that short period of time.
I was going to have a bunch of guests.
You know, we have a ton of people on the West Coast that are close colleagues.
We've actually owned some property or supported people that own property in the Palisades before, but we had no good news to report.
It's been a disaster.
I'll deal with that later.
But the song itself is so movie.
I've noticed because you're our outsong in the A Block of the American Heart and people are constantly contacting me.
Steve, don't talk over American Heart.
Play the whole thing.
We love it.
The songs you did about President Trump and the comeback and the fight and now this song.
In your creative process, is it something that has to move you that you're just not writing, you know, traditional love songs or commercial songs, but the really your big hits or the ones you've really, you know, have become kind of anthems or things that happen to you personally?
jon kahn
Yeah, I think that's a common theme with my music.
I mean, it's, I remember when I came to Nashville, all the songwriters were saying, you know, don't come here and write about tattoos and pickup trucks.
It's not what you do.
It's not who you are.
A good buddy of mine, Jeff Steele, who's in the Hall of Fame, just said, write what you feel.
And I'm never moved to write a song unless I'm feeling something deeply.
For example, Fighter, I was watching, you know, a press conference after President Trump got convicted.
And I just shook my head and I was just amazed at the fortitude that this man has.
And I just thought, what a fighter.
And I just went to the piano and it comes out.
This song, like I said, I sat down at the piano and the depth of feeling I had, I mean, just to hit a note on the piano after months and months of not playing any music, it has to move me.
And you have to trust that.
And I think that any good song that you trust and you're not overthinking that comes from the heart is what resonates with people.
And I think that the common denominator that I would love the takeaway for my music to be is that we're all in the same boat.
We all deal with the same challenges in life.
There's only a handful of emotions.
And if you can crystallize that in a piece of work, then hopefully it'll resonate.
And just like Fighter was about President Trump's fight, if you didn't know that it was about President Trump, it could be about any daily battle that you're having.
And the same one with this one.
It's about tremendous loss and where do you go after the loss and are you going to give up or are you going to see blue skies or a light at the end of the tunnel?
And I think that's hopefully what resonates with people.
steve bannon
One more time.
Where do people go?
The name of the song.
How do they go to all the streaming platforms and download it right now?
jon kahn
The song is called After It Burns.
There are links on my Instagram, which is at John ConMusic, J-O-N-K-A-H-N Music, or Twitter at Mr. John David, which is M-R-J-O-N David.
And there are links at the top that have a link to all the streamers where you can get it, Amazon, iTunes, Apple Music, et cetera.
And I'm just, I've gotten great feedback from the people back home in the Palisades, and that's really what means the most and why I wanted to write the song.
steve bannon
Well, they need a pickup because everything has happened, not just the disaster and the tragedy, but there's been no real assistance.
I think only 600 permits of 6,000 or 7,000 disasters.
We'll talk about that another time.
Johnny Kahn, we love you.
Music's great, very moving, powerful on the anniversary of the Palisades fire.
