There are four days left to fund the government, but lawmakers in the House took a snow day today.
Does that mean they're confident the deal, the spending deal that is on the table, will pass?
Is it going to pass?
Is that why they took today off?
I don't really think one has to do with the other, Katie, to be honest with you.
The situation, the movement right now on this short-term spending deal is in the Senate.
So House leaders didn't really need to be physically in Washington for this process to move itself forward.
We do expect the Senate to take the first step, a procedural step, toward passing this continuing resolution.
It could take until Sunday if even one Senator holds up the process, which would get us past that Friday deadline.
But there is the expectation that there is enough votes in both the Senate and the House to pull this all together in time to avert the worst consequences of a government shutdown.
But they do need to get back here to Washington to make that happen.
And now House members won't be back here till tomorrow at the earliest, Katie.
Is this still just a stopgap measure?
Yeah, it's very much just a stopgap measure.
It's really just punting the larger conversations about passing these 12 different appropriations bills until the early spring.
Right now it's a two-tiered system, much like we have already faced in the last quarter of 2023.
So there will now be a deadline of March 1st and March 8th, as opposed to this Friday, and then into the middle of February.
But that does give the negotiators more time to work through this top line number that all the sides have agreed to.
The real issue right now is with House Republicans.
They still remain angry with Speaker Mike Johnson for cutting this deal with the White House and with the Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
They still need to fill out the details of this budget agreement.
But there's the real possibility, Katie, that once they get to that point that these appropriations bills will have to be passed under suspension, meaning that they need two-thirds of House members in order to pass them, because they won't make it through the House Rules Committee because it is stacked with some of the most conservative members of the House because of the deal that Kevin McCarthy made to become Speaker.
So while there's optimism that they'll ultimately get this done, there is still a number of hurdles that stand in the way before they get to that and final passage.
Yeah, and there's also a question of what this means for Speaker Johnson's future as Speaker of the House.

They've raised a ton of money still, and of course they're coming in hard for President Trump.

But the three big things that it does is continues the construction of the border wall, the security system, the fiber optics, the cameras, the lights, and the roads.
The second thing that it does is it puts in statute a piece of legislation that I've introduced, the 117th and the 118th Congress, Remain in Mexico.
So all these folks that are coming in claiming asylum have to remain in Mexico.
And then the third thing it does is it directs ICE to get back to conducting their raids and deporting people.
If you do those three things, you will have an incredible impact.

If you want to come and opine to that, and tell me your changes on that, or even parts of it you don't like, but you must opine to that.
Don't give me another bipartisan Lankford thing.
He's working with Schumer and all these open borders amnesty guys over there, and we're not interested in what Biden has to say because that's not a bill, it's another proposal.
Why is leadership not hammering that every second?

2, it is lying in the Senate right now.
We have sent over seven of our appropriation bills.
That is what we should be taking up and saying, what are you going to do to counter our offer of H.R. 2 and the seven appropriation bills that we have already sent over to the United States Senate.
And we need to tie those together.
We have a unique opportunity here.
I am tired of hearing the talking heads, okay, or the Senate talk about, here's our red line, Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell get together, okay, and the people that they're trying to bring into office, and they say, this is a hard stop for us, we're not going to take up HR.
How come when the Senate makes that proclamation, then it's, we're being difficult, we're being obstructionist.
But when the House of Representatives passes legislation, and we send it over to the Senate, that we feel compelled to go back over and negotiate ourselves, against ourselves.
Ridiculous.
I've negotiated for many years, many contracts, many agreements.
You don't negotiate against yourself.

If they suspend the rules, they go around us, everything that we fought for, that you fought for back in January, if they go around and suspend the rules, if we can get That number of patriots, okay, the 70 to 90, if we can get that up to 140, then even if they suspend the rules, we can stop that legislation.

That's why I continue to connect the two issues together, and we should use one on leverage for the other.
But when we see the BRICS nations, we see China, we see Russia, we see Brazil, we see the South America countries working together and already starting to recognize other currency, we've got a problem.
The only reason it hasn't folded to this point is because, quite frankly, we're the healthiest person in hospice.
I mean, we're in hospice.
We're sick.
Everybody else is a little bit more sick than us.

Within just a couple of hours of this historic win by President Trump in Iowa, the largest win in Iowa caucus history, about three times.
And today, President Trump, instead of starting the day in New Hampshire, had to be in court on this absolute nonsense.
Remember, President Trump's attorneys actually made a motion to join these two cases, but the judge denied them, just like he's trying to deny the president the opportunity to defend himself against false accusations.
But, of course, the president continues to speak, continues to speak truth to power and be very, very direct that he does not know this woman.
He's never met her.
Photo line doesn't count.
He's never touched her, and he has nothing to do with her whatsoever.
And she's trying to sue him for defamation for saying that he's wrongfully accused.
So if we want to live in a country where people can no longer say, I did not do this, then they can go and support Roberta Kaplan, a Democrat operative, Reid Hoffman, the founder obliged him to the way, way, way radical Democrat donor and the plaintiff.
But the reality is, we want to live in America, a country where everybody, from President Trump to any American walking the streets, can say, I am wrongfully accused and here's why.
And that's exactly what happened in this case.
And Alina Hobbit, she delivered that message beautifully today in her opening statement.
I thought nobody's taking it for the other side.
Given by a lawyer who is the former law clerk of the judge.
Given by a lawyer who's the former law clerk of Judge Kaplan, I thought it was very uninspired, but if you just think of the conflict of interest there, that's a direct violation of ethics canon 3 for federal judges to have that kind of conflict of interest.
But of course, in the Rick system, where everybody's coming after President Trump with these election interference hoaxes, that's what happens.
But President Trump continues to win, continues to beat him back, and he's on the march.
He should be in New Hampshire any moment, and he's going to deliver another powerhouse.
Powerhouse address, again on the heels of the historic win yesterday in Iowa.

Okay, hang on with me for a second because I want to talk about the graciousness, the humility last night, total class act.
I want to talk, don't bury the lead on Reid Hoffman.
Reid Hoffman, one of Nikki Haley's biggest donors, funding this.

Are you telling me President Trump in front of this jury can't sit there and either can't testify or can't say, can't have his lawyers say that he did not do it just because the judge or the jury found that they found the fact that they believed he did but he can't still profess his innocence?

Well, a separate jury in front of the same judge, who completely unlawfully, and that case is being appealed unlawfully, denied President Trump the right to bring in facts from the case, which the woman doesn't know what day this alleged incident, which never happened, she has no knowledge of the day, the month, the year, the decade.
She's never been able to tell a straight story.
The judge, in that first trial, put every kind of roadblock against President Trump's attorneys.
She went on CNN and said, no, no, no, this is Donald Trump.
It was sexy, the fact that she's changed her story a million times, the fact that she called her African American husband an ape, the fact that this exact storyline about a similar made-up situation was ripped From a Law & Order episode, which happens to be our favorite show, all of this was not let in by Judge Kaplan.
What did he let in?
Completely prejudicial and irrelevant.
The Access Hollywood tape, two other women who were some of those discredited—the discredited claims from the 2016 campaign, including that ridiculous one from the plane.
That trial was a hoax.
And President Trump has been steadfast and absolutely direct that he did nothing wrong, that he's wrongfully accused.
And yes, in this trial, the judge is trying to prevent him from getting that message out.
But President Trump, again, will not be intimidated.
He will not be denied.
And he continues to speak the truth to power very much, including on his truth account.

Some of the developments look amazing.
Just walk us through.
You know, you got Fannie Willis in free fall in Georgia.
You got Jack Smith.
This thing looks like it could be pushed back years.

You're going to end up with the one they never want to do, Alvin Bragg fiasco.
But just go, tell me, get the audience up to date on exactly what's happened with Jack Smith and what's happening with Fannie Willis down in Georgia.

I mean, again, just to continue for one more second on this.
Remember, this is the same case where the plaintiff said, oh, I have a dress.

And then when it came out that the dress had no connection to the president, she begged the judge to not let the dress into evidence because, again, this spooks her claims.
And what did the judge do?
Went right along with the plaintiff and their mischaracterizations.
It shows that it's a rigged system.
But again, President Trump continues to win, if you look across the spectrum.
The Florida case, there's going to be a scheduling conference there in early March.
Judge Cannon just denied the special counsel their request to make President Trump tell them whether he's going to use a specific defense and advise a counsel defense.
Judge Cannon said, absolutely not.
I am not going to be making you have the president disclose that ahead of time.
So that was a flat denial of the special counsel.
Of course, in D.C., you've got the continued fight on presidential immunity.
And how can you not have immunity?
And even in this case today, the judge said, well, you know, it's accepted law that former presidents can be sued.
Wrong.
Accepted law under Nixon v. Fitzgerald and Blasingame is that former presidents cannot be civilly sued and, as we've heard now from the D.C.
arguments, cannot be criminally sued.
Either there's full criminal and civil immunity for presidents, because otherwise you wouldn't have presidents.
They couldn't do their jobs.
You think Truman would have bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki if he thought he didn't have immunity or would Obama use drones if he thought he didn't have immunity?
We wouldn't have presidents.
And, hey, if there's no immunity, now let's see what happens after Joe Biden leaves office in terms of the southern border, in terms of our economy, in terms of Afghanistan and all the other disasters perpetrated by corrupt, crooked Joe Biden and his henchmen.
That's DC, that's Florida, and then Georgia.
Total disaster, obviously.
More and more information coming out just in the last couple minutes, coming out that that Farnyworth did allege, seemingly, according to the Daily Caller, pay her, I guess, boyfriend, lover, whatever they call him, more than she was paying other attorneys.
