| The House Homeland Security Committee will formally begin impeachment proceedings against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. | ||
| CNN's Lauren Fox joins us now from Washington, D.C. | ||
| And Laura, what details do you have? | ||
| Yeah, we are learning more information that in this new year the House Republicans are planning to forge ahead with an impeachment against Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security. | ||
| Obviously this comes at a really complicated political moment for House Republicans and for the Congress at large. | ||
| That is because right now there is bipartisan efforts in the United States Senate to try to reach some kind of framework agreement that could actually improve border security along the U.S. southern border. | ||
| Those talks have been hard fought. | ||
| They've been going on for weeks. | ||
| And while they don't have an agreement yet, they are trying to reach one in order to pass this larger supplemental package, which would include funding for Ukraine and Israel, as well as money for the U.S. southern border. | ||
| But this dynamic now that the House Republicans are planning to move forward with this impeachment proceeding against Mayorkas shows you just how hard it is going to be, even if the Senate can reach a deal, to get that deal through the House of Representatives. | ||
| So right now, this is a complicating dynamic, as the Senate is continuing those efforts, and they're in Washington working today to try to find an agreement on that bipartisan border security proposal. | ||
| But since the House Republicans have telegraphed for a while that they wanted to move in this direction, or plan to, now appear to be doing so, I think what my colleague Lauren was just talking about is the critical point here. | ||
| You are so deeply engaged in the border negotiations that are going on in the Senate. | ||
| Does this undercut any possibility of getting a deal onto the House floor? | ||
| Oh, I certainly hope not, Phil, and thanks so very much for having me this morning. | ||
| You know, yesterday I joined the bipartisan group of senators who are negotiating a solution to a much plagued, broken immigration system. | ||
| I was very privileged to participate in that. | ||
| Before I did so, I was hard at work in the office with my colleagues addressing the situation at the border and addressing the many other challenges that the Department of Homeland Security confronts. | ||
| And after I participated in those negotiations in providing technical and operational advice to the bipartisan group of senators, I returned to the office to perform the work of the Department of Homeland Security. | ||
| We have a broken immigration system that is the one single fact about which everyone agrees, and our administration is focused on solutions, and we're really pleased to join a bipartisan group of senators who are similarly focused on solutions. | ||

| They're talking about, you know, putting forward some package and having a 1% cut and funding everything, funding all the NGOs, funding all of it. | ||

| And more importantly, let me ask you, The folks that you represent, if we had a town hall there today, what would the good citizens of Missouri 7 tell us about the border? | ||
| What action would your constituents want to happen today? | ||
| They would absolutely ask or demand for the government to be shut down, until we shut down the border. | ||
| My citizens, when I talk to them about, do we face a government shutdown? | ||
| Do I allow it to shut down? | ||
| Their response is, oh, you mean that same federal government that's prosecuting Donald Trump? | ||
| The same federal government that's prosecuting the January 6th people, grandmas and grandpas, who were basically walking at the Capitol? | ||
| They have no desire to continue to fund this government. | ||
| I think that it's given myself, hopefully a lot of other members, the boldness and the courage to be able to say, we are not going to fund anything else until we shut down the border. | ||
| Congressman, last question. | ||
| What do you think about the spending? | ||
| We hit $34 trillion. | ||
| Since the time that McHenry, who's gone, right, and McCarthy, who's gone, cut that deal, it was $31.4 trillion face amount. | ||
| And we warned everybody, if you agree to this deal, you're going to have another at least $4 trillion of debt added by the time Biden's tossed from office. | ||
| At least minimum of $4 trillion. | ||
| Right now, I think it's $2.6 trillion, as of last night. | ||
| $2.6 trillion, including, in 100 days, another $1 trillion. | ||
| They're finally admitting to what the War Room said, not just about the face amount, but about the interest. | ||
| We said that we're going to have, immediately, be more than the defense budget, and probably be, I think, $1.25 trillion in interest expense this year. | ||
| They've just admitted, overnight, there's going to be at least $900 billion to a trillion. | ||
| What do your constituents in Missouri 7 say about the spending? | ||
| The spending is out of control. | ||
| For each constituent, they're in debt nearly $100,000 that they owe as their share of the federal debt. | ||
| That's why I ran for office. | ||
| I want to fix our deficit spending, and I don't want to return to fiscal sanity. | ||
| Look, if we don't do it, then as we talked about, we're going to see the collapse of the dollar. | ||
| This is something that we have never seen in the United States history. | ||
| It's something we can't We can't allow it to happen. | ||
| But we're at the precipice. | ||
| Steve, as you've mentioned, the interest rates alone are going to bury us. | ||
| And so we have to take a course correction. | ||
| And that means not being soft on this, not making small cuts. | ||
| We have to make significant cuts to our discretionary spending. | ||
| And we need to talk about some of the programs like Medicaid, We need to talk about some of the welfare programs like SNAP. | ||

| SNAP and all those, but Social Security, well Medicaid and definitely SNAP you've got to get into right away. | ||

| They're the ones driving this. | ||
| They're the ones driving the problem at the border. | ||
| It's the progressives that get all these NGOs and, quite frankly, the Republican donor class that you know puts pressure on every guy in Congress to just look the other way. | ||
| Why do you think Abbott had to have the bayonet to his back to try to actually allow to be passed by the patriots in Texas this law that tries to stop the invasion of the country, which he doesn't really want to enforce? | ||
| He's doing it half-heartedly because he has to, because of political reality. | ||
| It's the donor class that's in back of this, and the donor class is going to have to start paying for it. | ||
| We have to have, let me repeat this, massive tax increases for the super wealthy in this nation who are behind this. | ||

| They're the oligarchs in Silicon Valley. | ||
| They're getting away with this unscathed. | ||

| And as soon as you mentioned taxing, I didn't say... We need tax cuts for the working class, the middle class, and massive tax increases for the wealthy. | ||
| Massive spending cuts of discretionary spending. | ||
| Once you do that, and you show people that, hey, there is a program here, and you've cut out all this welfare overseas, you cut out the billions of dollars going to Ukraine, you cut out all this crap, We're doing around the world and all the woke and weaponized in the federal government. | ||
| Only then can you begin to have a conversation with the American people. | ||
| There's a little bit of Social Security and Medicare. | ||
| That's not driving this. | ||

| And the first chart I had shows the ISM index is still under 50. | ||
| Manufacturing is still shrinking for 15 straight months in a row. | ||
| Manufacturing, the stuff we make in the United States of America, you can picture that's the real economy versus the stock market gains. | ||
| And so I'll just read off the external Confirmation to show everyone that we are correct in the war room For the past years right right off the bat. | ||

| Oh, yeah. | ||
| Yeah. | ||

| This is in stark contrast to the news you hear every night on the mainstream media that we have 7 percent economic growth. | ||

| And it's nowhere near. | ||
| It's going down. | ||
| Real wages for the average worker, not real incomes, not real incomes after taxes, real wages. | ||

| And so it's important to look at the real economy. | ||
| And so the conference board, which does the leading economic indicators, they have real GDP growth this year, 2023, growing at 2.4. | ||
| Third quarter growth was high. | ||
| And nominal growth, you just add the inflation rate to real growth. | ||
| So 2.4, the nominal growth, add three or four, and it's at five or six. | ||
| We expect it to slow to 0.9 in 2024. | ||
| Boom! | ||
| You want to know why the Fed is hinting at the Trump put, the Biden put? | ||
| Easing monetary policy when we still have inflation because of that number right there. | ||
| The conference board expects GDP growth in 2024 to be 0.9 and just 1.7 in 2025. | ||
| That's not acceptable to them. | ||
