| Tuesday night at the U.S. | ||
| Consulate in Benghazi, a complex and highly dangerous situation. | ||
| Outside, an anti-American protest. | ||
| Then, a group of heavily armed militants, approximately two dozen of them, launched an attack firing rocket-propelled grenades. | ||
| The attack in Libya appears to be a very coordinated military-style attack. | ||
| This was not a demonstration gone bad. | ||
| This was a clear, targeted, planned event. | ||
| According to senior U.S. | ||
| officials, that ignited a fire inside the consulate. | ||
| American and Libyan security personnel officials say were forced to fight on two fronts. | ||
| The attackers on the outside, the fire inside. | ||
| Diplomatic sources are beginning to piece together what happened next. | ||
| Officials tell CNN Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi on a short visit from the capital Tripoli, along with Sean Smith, a 10-year veteran of the State Department in Libya on temporary assignment, took refuge in a safe room along with the lead security officer. | ||
| But the room became filled with smoke. | ||
| The officer left the room, they say. | ||
| When he returned, Smith was dead. | ||
| Ambassador Stevens was missing. | ||
| One official says Stevens and possibly others were trying to escape to the roof. | ||
| But then, confusion. | ||
| Officials say Stevens got out and somehow ended up at the hospital. | ||
| Unconfirmed reports say he may have been unconscious. | ||
| His body later was returned to U.S. | ||
| officials at the Benghazi airport. | ||
| Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised the Libyans who, she said, helped fight off the attackers and carried Ambassador Stevens' body to the hospital. | ||
| This was an attack by a small and savage group. | ||
| Not the people or government of Libya. | ||
| At this point, State Department officials believe the attack was planned in advance, but do not believe Ambassador Stevens was directly targeted. | ||
| Nicholas Burns, a former top State Department official, tells CNN U.S. | ||
| diplomats are facing an incendiary situation in the Middle East. | ||
| The cruel irony here is that the United States is well regarded in Libya, and there's a moderate government in place, and this is clearly the actions of an isolated and very small, but very vicious terrorist group. | ||
| And so we've got to protect ourselves from those groups, and we've got to go after them. | ||
| So, four killed, at least three wounded, and they are being taken to Ramstein Air Base in Germany for treatment, as are the remains of those who died. | ||
| Okay, so much misinformation and inaccuracies in that report from September 11th of 2012, the other 9-11 that we can never forget. | ||
| And remember, with all Hillary Clinton's lies, incompetence, malfeasance, Trey Gowdy and the Republicans failed to bring her to justice. | ||
| And remember that going into what the firefight we're about to have over the next three or four weeks on both the spending and the impeachment. | ||
| It can't be performative. | ||
| It has to be real. | ||
| The entire Benghazi investigation turned out to be nothing but performative, and Fox News was its Sunday night anchor. | ||
| Trey Gowdy is responsible for that. | ||
| Mo, this often gets lost on 9-11, but this is the other important 9-11 we can never forget in these heroes. | ||
| Walk me through the four dead. | ||
| The four that were killed in Benghazi were Ambassador Chris Stevens, U.S. | ||
| Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and two CIA contractors who were former Navy SEALs, Glenn Daugherty and Tyrone Woods. | ||
| And like you said, many focus today on what happened in the United States, our homeland attacks, but we cannot forget what happened in Benghazi. | ||
| We cannot forget these four heroes, and we have to remember them as well today. | ||
| Well, it's also about accountability and responsibility. | ||
| We gotta be brutally frank about this. | ||
| We don't have accountability of what happened in 9-11. | ||
| We don't have accountability of what happened in the Pearl Harbor. | ||
| And I've gone through every document they've got. | ||
| There's not real accountability of what happened in Pearl Harbor. | ||
| There's not real accountability of what happened on the Warren Commission. | ||
| A couple of people this weekend, upon my getter, said, oh, Steve's taking the misdirection play on the announcement of the Secret Service agent of Jackie Kennedy. | ||
| Far from it. | ||
| It's all of a piece. | ||
| The lies about Pearl Harbor, the lies about 9-11, the lies about the Warren Commission. | ||

| And Benghazi. | ||
| You never get the straight story, you never get the real facts, and nobody's held accountable. | ||

| Congressman Biggs, your response to that, is Mayorkas laughing at you and every member of Congress when he says your constituents, basically domestic violent extremists, are the biggest threat to the country today, sir? | ||
| Yeah, look, first of all, both those guys on there hate this country. | ||
| The two guys, the host and the guy responding, they hate this country. | ||
| And so, when Mayorkas says that domestic terrorists are the number one problem, and who are the domestic terrorists? | ||
| They're people who support an America First movement. | ||
| They're people who love this country, who will go out and stand tall for this country. | ||
| Mayorkas knows he's not going to be held accountable by this House Republican leadership. | ||
| There are many in Congress that would go after Mayorkas, and right now is a chance to prove it. | ||
| When this budget issue is coming up, continuing resolution, they need to go in and they need to say, we're defunding your salary under the Holman rule, and we're also going to bring forward an impeachment resolution. | ||
| Not just an inquiry, but an actual resolution against you, Alejandro Mayorkas, because you have committed acts that are undermining our sovereign territory, our sovereign freedom, and you, Secretary Mayorkas, need to be held accountable. | ||
| Congressman Biggs, there's a meeting, there's a conference tomorrow. | ||

| I think you guys have a press conference in the afternoon. | ||
| Where do we stand on getting all the appropriations billed like we were promised, all the cuts like we were promised, and making sure that we can pass the appropriations bill and a budget by midnight on the 30th of September, sir? | ||
| This is a clear breach on the part of Mr. McCarthy. | ||
| He's going to come through and say, well, you know, the Appropriations Committee didn't get it done. | ||
| They didn't get it done because he didn't lead. | ||
| They had nine months to get this done, Steve. | ||
| They should have had this done the end of June, got it over to the Senate. | ||
| The Senate could have two months to figure it out. | ||
| Then you have another month for a conference committee, then you deliver your goods. | ||
| They didn't deliver the goods, and now he wants what we call a clean CR. | ||
| He wants to keep the spending level at where Pelosi, where Schumer, where Biden want that spending level, instead of doing the responsible thing, putting out budgets that reduce this back to the 2019 spending level, so we can actually start turning down the federal government's spending. | ||
| So he's blown it. | ||
| And he should be held accountable for that. | ||

| He also says that if you guys force this hand on the budget, that if Biden shuts his own regime down, then we can't go forward with impeachment, that the government can't do it. | ||

| Congressman, the play that they're pushing on Fox News is that he needs a CR that's going to have the H.R. | ||
| 1 or whatever it is, the bill. | ||
| The bill's lovely, it's a nice bill, but it's purely performative because you know it's not going to get passed and we have enough laws. | ||
| It's about the execution of these laws. | ||
| Do you believe you and your colleagues Can create enough firestorm to actually defund DHS until the border is secure. | ||
| To actually defund the Biden regime and to force their hand until the border is secure. | ||
| Put this issue before the American people and let it be debated over the next couple weeks. | ||
| Not a new bill that has the H.R. | ||
| 1 associated with. | ||
| That's where they're pushing on Fox. | ||
| Oh, we need border security. | ||
| Actually cut the money to them right now until they actually stop the invasion. | ||
| I would cut everything else in DHS except for ICE and CBP because I've got to keep those men and women working. | ||

| We're trying to, myself, Freedom Caucus, we're trying to light a fire under people in our conference to understand how radical this is, how serious this is. | ||
| They talk like they know it's an existential threat, but they don't act like it. | ||
| You need to vote like you understand the existential nature of the threat of an open border where literally 10,000 people a day are coming across. | ||
| And as Ben said, a lot of them, all of them aren't vetted. | ||
| Nobody's vetted. | ||
| So we don't know how many are terrorists, how many are just hardened criminals. | ||
| We don't know how many are murderers, rapists. | ||
| You've got human smuggling going on, sex trafficking going on, drug trafficking, all of this stuff. | ||
| And we're having trouble getting people to say, well, gee, Andy, You know, we think it's Biden that should be, you know, he's responsible. | ||
| Well, then impeach Biden for Pete's sakes. | ||
| You have to take the steps to hold these people accountable or else there will be no changes because this administration is incentivizing everybody in the world to come here. | ||
| And the threat of Donald Trump being president, actually enforcing the border and deporting people would actually slow that down. | ||
| And that's what we need to get to. | ||
| You were part of the hardcore six, you've got the 20, then you guys add 70, the vote against the debt ceiling. | ||
| If McCarthy, to get his clean CR, has to rely upon majority leader, because he is, Hakeem Jeffries, to deliver a large amount of Democratic votes, should he remain, in your mind, Speaker of the House? | ||
| Well, Steve, notwithstanding that, I have thought he shouldn't be the Speaker for over a year. | ||
| Because what you're seeing is exactly what I predicted would happen. | ||
| I believe that it is inevitable that if he goes to the Democrats, you will see a motion to vacate. | ||
| If he doesn't put in place policies that hinder the Biden administration and doesn't reward weaponization, doesn't reward opening the border, doesn't reward taking and killing our energy leadership in the world, If we don't see that, then I believe that an MTV motion to vacate is inevitable. | ||
| The Democrats, why would they vote for a motion to vacate? | ||
| So I don't think he gets removed, but I don't think he should be there in the first place. | ||
| How united are the MAGA Republicans in this? | ||
| I think the MAGA Republicans are as united as ever. | ||
| I mean, you know, you got a core and then they kind of fringes off. | ||

| And the question is, how big is that core? | ||
| But I tell you what, if you love this country, you cannot stand by and watch failure after failure to stop The inexorable, the speedy trajectory off the cliff from this administration, we have got to stand in front of it. | ||

| And if we can't leverage the spending to stop some of this stuff, then the country is really probably worse off than any of us even imagined. | ||
