Solemn Vow to Kill
00:01:55
|
|
| There were three men came out of the west, their fortunes fought to try. | |
| And these three men made a solemn vow, John Barleycorn should die. | |
| They ploughed, they sowed, they hurled him in through clots upon his head. | |
| And these three men made a solemn vow, John Barleycorn was dead. | |
| The Bible tells us in a New Testament verse of certain Jews binding themselves with a curse. | |
| They made a solemn vow not to eat nor drink until they had killed St. Paul that night. | |
| In Jerusalem's jail, Paul, with no clue of the murderous tale, the Lord stands by and says, Be of good cheer. | |
| You're going to preach at Rome in a whole new sphere. | |
| Then they let him lie for a very long time till the rain comes and they fall. | |
| But little son Paul sprung up his head and soon amazed them all. | |
| The cursed causes shall not come. | |
| God's wisdom orders these all that the plans of man will fall. | |
| Paul's sister's son, like a man, told the captain of the band. | |
| Takes the child by his head, and says, "This shall not stand! | |
| Prepare a troop! | |
| Move horses from the stalls! | |
| Out of harm's way, I'm sending St. Paul!" | |
| And they let him start till his summer come, till he looked both male and warm. | |
| But little Sir Paul, he grew a long beard, and so became a man. | |
| The moral of the story is this a solemn vow with a religious twist is bereft of God's wish. | |
| Making sacred another man's death is nothing short of devilishness. | |
| Religious fervor is turned into sin when split from true righteousness. | |
| Here's my altar call. | |
| Give your life to Christ. | |
| Make a solemn vow. | |
| It's righteous and it's right. | |
