Time Text
Brzezinski is long gone, but his legacy lingers on.
His grand chessboard has gone awry, where knights and rooks are making a U-turn.
All roads now lead to a post-West order.
Foreign Minister, the summit is happening in Helsinki.
President Putin, President Trump together.
Is this the post-West world order that you talked of in the past?
Has it now arrived?
Well, I think we are in the post-West world order, but this order is being shaped, and it will take a long time.
It's a historical epoch, if you want.
Zbigniew Brzezinski, joining us now is Dr.
Zbigniew Brzezinski. Thanks for joining us.
Thank you very much. The argument in the book, if I try to paraphrase a little bit, Is that the United States, in order to oppose forces of what you call global anarchy for the sake of world stability, needs to maintain its dominance in the world for a generation or even longer.
And the key to this dominance is Eurasia.
Eurasian strategy for the United States essentially, you say, will determine whether or not it remains preeminent.
What is America's Eurasia strategy right now?
Let me just add that in the book, I also say that American preeminence may not endure indefinitely.
If schizophrenia is a mile marker, then America's descent has already begun.
For with Pompeo bumping Trump and Mattis backpedaling Bolton, America needs to get a grip.
It's a crisis of leadership.
Knee-jerk reactions to a changing world steers a sinking ship.
In fact, if we conduct policies that are unwise, that are historically, so to speak, out of tune with the times, we could fumble the ball, so to speak.
And I'm afraid That to some extent, that concern is now being validated.
Checkmate! Just before he died, Zbigniew warned that the US must find points of participation with Russia.
Not as a policy of parity, but as a strategy for preeminence, where diplomacy secures dominance.
But hatred makes a country blind and batty.
If Russophobia is a Jewish disorder...
President Trump has failed time and time again to stand up to Vladimir Putin, despite the assault that he carried out on our democracy in the 2016 elections.
Russia is engaged.
Mr. Putin has not slowed down.
He's engaged here.
There's real concern about what he'll do in the 2018 elections.
And the President of the United States is not taking action.
Then, fumbling the ball means another team picks up the pieces.
After five or so centuries of domination of the It's not very easy to adjust to new realities when there are other powerhouses economically, financially and politically.
Russia certainly would like to be an independent world player, independent in the sense that we don't want to violate any international law norms.
But the decisions which we would be taking on the basis of international law would not be influenced by pressure, money, sanctions, threats, or anything else.
They're not stopping Putin.
Like Cardin says, Putin's engaged.
Not in our elections, but in his own Eurasian tech.
Roll over Brzezinski, your chessboard's rolling back.
The five nations that border the Caspian Sea say they've reached agreement in principle on how to divide up the oil and gas resources of the world's largest enclosed body of water.
Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan say the bulk of the Caspian will be treated as a common resource that they will govern together.
And the five say it will be given a special status, No agreement was found on the more contentious issue of where the seabed border should be traced, but Russian President Vladimir Putin nevertheless welcomed the principle of regional governance.
It fixes principles of military-political cooperation of the member states, he said, and guarantees the absence of the armed forces of non-regional states.
Roll over Brzezinski, your Eurasian dream is another team scheme.
The Caspian is believed to hold some 50 billion barrels of petrol and 300,000 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
Checkmate on steroids.
Brzezinski's kings and rooks have been bagged.
Eurasia's riches are Russia's, and her allies shake hands.
That's what happens when psychos run America.
Just like madmen throwing tantrums all over the chessboard.
It drives rivals together and a new epic gains ground.
Dominance means ability to manage.
Being embroiled is not the same thing.
Management is not the milieu of morons.
