Time Text
Thank you.
Thank you.
We're so thankful to be here doing a live stream this evening with myself and Brian Reese.
Brian, thank you again for joining me here on the DLC.
I'm looking forward to this one.
It's a very needed topic to discuss tonight.
Absolutely, David.
I'm glad to be here tonight.
The Hard Sayings of Jesus series.
And we've done two or three of these, or maybe four.
I think this is the fourth one of our series.
I'm glad to be here, Brother David.
And thanks for having me on here.
And hit that like button, folks.
Get the message out here, because this channel is fully dedicated for the doctrine of Christ.
And me and Brother David's just trying to shine the light out here in this dark world.
So yeah, I think this is our fourth episode, Brother David, of Live on the Hard Sands of Jesus.
I'm so glad to be part of it, and I'll give the floor back to you.
Yes, and we are going to have another, I think Monday, we'll have another episode of Season 9.
with Jillian and myself, and we're going to continue adding on to the hard sayings of Jesus, and we have a couple more series that we're planning for just the DOC channel, so we're going to be announcing more about that, and we're just getting warmed up here on this channel, and we're continuing to upload some of the old DOCs that Jimmy and I did.
So, you know, the doctrine of Christ is the most important thing in your life, and I'm just so blessed
to have a channel totally dedicated to specifically the cross, the doctrine, and the example of Jesus, and thank each and every one of you for tuning in this evening, and like I say, if you haven't subscribed, subscribe and share it out, and tell everybody that The Place for the Doctrine of Christ is right here on the FOJC Radio Doctrine of Christ series, and this evening
Brian and I are doing, as he said, this is the fourth episode of the series we're doing on the hard sayings of Jesus, and it focuses just on a certain phrase that Jesus said that is often misunderstood.
So this evening we're going to be focused on what Jesus said concerning being Lord of the Sabbath, and we're going to read the text in Mark chapter 2, and And we're going to begin in verse 23.
And it came to pass that he went through the cornfields on the sabbath day, and his disciples began as they went to pluck the ears of corn.
And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did?
When he had need and was a-hungered, he and they that were with him, how he went into the house of God in the days of Abathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat, but for the priest, and gave also to them which were with him.
And he said unto them, The Sabbath was not made for man, The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.
And that is the phrase that we're going to be meditating on and thinking about for just a little bit this evening.
And I want to read from William Lane's commentary.
He puts it pretty good, you know, and Jesus was the creator.
In the first chapter of John, it says all things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.
And if Jesus was the Creator, I guess He would probably know how to celebrate the Sabbath correctly.
But Mr. Lane in his commentary says, Reflection on Jesus' Act and Word, through which he established the true intention of the Sabbath and exposed the weakness of a human system of fencing the law with restrictions.
revealed his sovereign authority over the Sabbath itself.
With this word, Mark drives home for his readers the theological point of the pericope.
These things were written that they may understand Jesus' true dignity.
He is the Lord of the Sabbath.
And in our study this evening, we're going to see Jesus take back the Sabbath.
We could have called this Jesus Takes Back the Sabbath, because we see him coming head-to-head with the Jewish leaders, the Jewish religious leaders, and it's amazing to me, as we will go over several of these texts, the extreme hatred that the Jews had, and we're talking about the Pharisees and the religious establishment, they hated him so much over the way he celebrated the Sabbath.
And Jesus did not break God's law in any way, and when we look at the way Jesus celebrated the Sabbath, we're going to see the way that the Sabbath really should be celebrated.
I want to read something from Adam Clark's commentary.
Brother Clark said this on this text.
He said, The Sabbath was made for man, that he might have the seventh part of his whole time to devote to the purposes of bodily rest and spiritual exercises.
Now, I think those two things really epitomize that which the Sabbath is all about.
It's about actually resting yourself physically, and it's about spiritually refreshing yourself.
He goes on to say, and in these respects, it is of infinite use to mankind.
Where no Sabbath is observed, there is disease, poverty, and profligacy generally prevail.
Now, Adam Clark wrote this commentary in the 1700s, and he made the observation, and back then, England was a very strong country on observing the Sabbath.
Today, that's no longer true in America or in England.
And where the Sabbath is observed, God blesses those nations.
And you know, of everything that's wrong in this world today, our world is absolutely hurtling down the sewer pipe, and when all the people get together to think, well, I wonder what's going wrong with our world, I bet not many of them think about
The fact that the Sabbath is no longer honored, but the Sabbath is a blessing to a nation, and I have never had a person that has begun observing the Sabbath that doesn't have a glowing testimony on what a blessing it is to celebrate the Sabbath.
I agree with that, David.
You know, it's interesting too, um, you know, I used to do, you know, your traditional church and stuff like that.
So, you know, the holidays and everything, and then Sunday was Sabbath, right?
And, you know, and going to all that.
It was just it's just a really interesting thing interesting topic and then I see it observing it now as far as the way it is in 2024 it seems like there's a disconnect all around when it comes to even biblical narrative and then you have spoon feeding different types of traditions and ideology and it's causing people to stumble like literally stumble and then you know they have the you know there's so much fear and so much evil that's continually to
Take over society, and it seems like it's more dire to do these programs every day because people seem, and you know what's so interesting?
If you look on the internet of things, David, there's atheists, agnostic people that have literally claimed to love Satan, like straight up being just as demonic as you can get out, right?
Well, they're coming around saying, hey, there's something about the name of Jesus that's very profound.
I'm starting to wake up.
There's something.
I'm looking around and seeing all this stuff with the political gang and all this nonsense.
I'm starting to look around.
Things are coming off the rails.
You know, I'm in my reality, their paradigm and everything.
They're thinking, man, I really got to check up here a little bit.
And they're really, they don't have no clear view of what Christ is, but they're seeking him.
And I think that's so interesting.
I think it's so interesting.
It is.
And I've been saying something for a while now, and it's been proving to be true.
That in these days we're living in, we're going to see a lot of people get saved that we never thought we would ever see get saved.
And we're going to have people backslide and apostatize that we never would have thought would.
And that is certainly turning out to be true.
And we're coming into that time of the separation of the tares and the wheat.
Now, the thing about the Sabbath, that's why I want everyone to know I'm a Sabbath keeper, because Exodus 31, 13, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations.
The book of Exodus doesn't say, you know, this book will expire in so many years.
It's not a date on it.
We all understand that when Jesus came, he fulfilled the ritual sacrifices.
We don't have to do animal sacrifice, you know.
That's a good thing, we could all be thankful for, but the Sabbath is part of God's moral law, the Ten Commandments, and it has not changed.
It goes on to say, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations.
The fact that you and I keep the Sabbath, that's a sign that we are a part of the Israel of God.
In the Old Covenant, when God called out the Israel of God, he gave them the Ten Commandments, and that Sabbath was a sign that everyone knew those seventh-day Sabbath keepers, they were the Israel of God.
Well, that has not changed.
It is a sign between me and you throughout your generations that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.
In the book of Deuteronomy, 23, Deuteronomy chapter 23 and in the 24th verse, and we're going to see from this, and you know, we see in the, we're going to read some passages where the way Jesus celebrated the Sabbath
There was such hatred that literally, we're going to read a text where this is the time when the Herodians and the Pharisees decided to kill Jesus over the Sabbath issue.
And under the true Torah, you know, Jesus was keeping the true Torah and law of God.
The Pharisees were doing what was called their Oral Torah.
And the Oral Torah, their theory is, That when God gave the Ten Commandments unto Moses, that he gave a secondary oral teaching that Moses passed down.
Well, I'll just turn and I'll read a verse for you that makes that impossible.
In the book of Exodus, I'll turn to chapter 24, and the absolute hatred that the Jews and the people with the oral Torah had is just Disturbing.
But in Exodus chapter 24, it says in verse 3, And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments.
And all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words of the Lord which the Lord has said we will do.
And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord.
Now, I would ask our friends in the Hebrew Root Movement and in Judaism, what part of all the words don't you understand?
There's no room in the Word of God for a secret tradition being passed down alongside of the written Torah.
There's no such thing.
And in fact, the Scripture makes that absolutely impossible.
And yet, we're going to see the abject hatred, and there's a fellow In the Hebrew Root Movement, should I mention his name, many of you would know him.
And there's a series on his channel called Defending the Oral Torah.
Well, that's not what you want to do, because we're going to see Jesus headlong into conflict with these purveyors of the Oral Torah.
And this Oral Torah, when it was written down, and there was no Oral Torah, it's just the traditions of the elders, as Jesus called it, and this became, when it was written down, the Talmud and the Kabbalah.
Now, in Deuteronomy 23 and 25, we'll see that according to the true Torah of God, that what Jesus and the disciples did was not wrong.
In Deuteronomy 23 and 25, it says, When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbor, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand, but thou shalt not move a sickle under thy neighbor's standing corn.
So it was absolutely right and proper that if someone was hungry or was out, that they could absolutely do what Jesus did and pick some food there to sustain themselves, but it also said, you know, you're not to go in there and do a harvest, you know, but what they were doing here was absolutely not disallowed by the real Torah of God, only by the traditions of men.
Yes, sir.
You know, like I mentioned earlier, you know, it seems like the wheels are coming off, you know, these religion organizations, religious organizations.
And it seems like we've gotten so far.
It's like almost like an evil plan, a sinister plan for like, you know, New Testament church is what you hear around my neck of the woods, right?
New Testament church, right?
I'm a New Testament church, and we do away with the law, we do away with the Torah, we don't even accept the Old Testament.
So guess what?
There's going to be something that comes and tries to replace it, and I'm sorry.
And I think this is when the, you know, we're talking about great falling away time frame here.
We got people that are rejecting the Word.
And it's kind of, it's baffling.
You know, you got the Vatican, you know, taking and pulling and got all their tentacles and they're, they're playing, you know, Pinocchio, so to speak, and got all the wires, you know, moving the pieces around and literally making, you know, propping up fallen angels, propping up alien activity besides, and not even propping up Christ, they're denying Christ altogether.
You know, the Pope, oh Pope, you know, that's in power now, Mr. Francis, said that Christ died for nothing, David.
That is, you know, so where do we stand?
And people don't see that, you know, I'm just saying even our local areas, Indiana, Kentucky, you know, where we live, people don't even understand that.
And that's what blows our mind is how can you reject Old Testament?
How can you reject when it says Jesus is the right hand of the Father now?
Well, Jesus was at the foundation of the world when the foundation was laid.
Jesus was there with the Father and the Son.
You know, the Son, the Father, and the Trinity, right?
How can you reject?
How can you just say, well, that doesn't matter anymore?
I think it all matters, Brother David, you know?
Yeah, people reject it to their own damnation, and I love the quote John Bunyan My Puritan friend, about people in his day, there were even those that would throw away God's law.
Today, it's the mainstream.
And he would call those people, he says, those brain-sick individuals.
He would call them brain-sick.
And I think that applies.
And you know, and here's the way it goes.
I've got a New Testament church.
Oh, you want to observe the Sabbath?
Fine!
We'll agree to disagree and everyone go along and we'll get together and have us a bean denny.
And, you know, you cannot go along to get along.
With an error like that.
In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, there is certainly something coming down the road, Brian.
2 Thessalonians 2, 8, it says, then, it says, the mystery of iniquity in verse 7, doth already work, only he who knotteth will let, until he be taken out of the way, and then shall that wicked be revealed.
That word literally means Lawless.
Without mosaic law.
And literally, the Bible defines the religion of the beast as a lawless religion.
So, I love the New Testament, but I do not love a religion that will throw away the old.
Over and over, we like to say that we are whole Bible believers, and we shouldn't even have to fight and make a point of that, but because of this last day's apostasy, we have to do that.
So we will.
We absolutely will.
Many people, when they read the passage here and some others we're going to read this evening, they will say, well, lookie there, Jesus sinned, he broke the Sabbath.
No, he didn't.
He violated the laws of the Pharisees, which were different than the laws of God.
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, When we see the way Jesus observed the Sabbath, we see the way that we should observe the Sabbath.
In 1 John 3, verse 4, Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.
Now, if sin is the transgression of the law, and you say the law is passed away, how are you going to define sin?
No wonder there's so much confusion in these churches.
They don't know what sin is.
They don't know the boys from the girls.
They don't know much of anything anymore, do they?
Jesus never broke the Sabbath in any way, and every time we see Jesus and the wonderful things he did on the Sabbath, this is the lesson to us on how the Sabbath really should be celebrated, because Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.
He is the Creator.
He's the one that created the world and then rested on that seventh day.
In 1 Peter 2 chapter 21, For even hereunto were ye called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.
Jesus was our sinless Savior.
If Jesus had sinned so much as one time, He could not have been that lamb that taketh away the sin of the world.
But just like that Passover lamb had to be inspected, it had to be spotless.
Jesus was that spotless, sinless sacrifice for our sins.
It reminds me, David, of, you know, when Christ comes back, will you find faith?
You know, that scripture.
Yes, sir.
Isn't it interesting that we're supposed to be the salt of the earth, right?
We're supposed to be, well, we're supposed to be watchmen and watch, you know, watchmen and observant.
And God has not gave us the spirit of fear.
And I think when it goes back to Hosea, you know, Hosea verse four, I mean, chapter four, verse six, talking about that, you know, People are lacking knowledge.
They reject knowledge.
They don't receive it.
And it's kind of interesting.
So here's where I'm at.
It's really concerning.
There's this, um, you know, you have this AI component, right?
And all this stuff's coming down the pike, so to speak.
But then we have the living word, which is Jesus Christ, which we've been rejecting.
I'm not saying we have, but the world has been trying to bend and change and alter it, make all kinds, you know, the Pharisees have been all this stuff, right?
In the new time, in modern day time, I would associate those individuals, you know, like these organizations, you know, like these, you know, we've done programs before with We're talking about the Nazis, talking about that whole paperclip, you know, all the stuff.
Those people rejecting Jesus Christ.
They're trying to outdo Christ.
They're trying to be the Gilboreem, all these powers that be.
They took the lie.
They took the lie of the devil.
They have immortality.
Well, here's one that gets me.
I've just seen this the other day.
There's an organization, I won't say the name, but they've successfully AI has been disconnected from the internet and it can be self-aware without the internet brother David.
So let me ask you a question.
If the fallen angels left the first estate, when it talks about the book of Jude, the angels that left the first estate, and now they're migrating and manifesting themselves here, let's just have fun here.
If the spirits of the giants, if they want to take on an android body and use AI, they don't have to have internet.
Just think about what I'm saying.
When people can't understand the basic principles and the parables of Christ and the written word that's forever settled in heaven, and Jesus is the right hand of the Father now, and you don't understand that spiritual application.
When these things that look, you know, like very marvelous to the eyes, right, and it'll test you.
Should I should I participate in this stuff?
Will I enjoy this stuff?
And then at the long and you know with the and all on the back end of it you're you're missing the point.
You forgot because all these years since the 1800s people have been sending these false you know these false claims of rapture and all these different false teachings of men and bending and twisting the scriptures.
So guess what?
The AI is going to set up shop.
And people are going to start falling by the wayside.
And that is very, very scary.
And people are rejecting the Holy Spirit, which I've done before.
Brother David, years ago, I used to reject the Holy Spirit.
Even though he'd be talking and pulling me, I would reject him and say, I'll get back to you.
You kind of get what I mean?
So I've been there, done that, got that t-shirt.
But in the new things of technology and all these, it looks, you know, it's going to put a veil over your eyes.
It's all going to look marvelous, elegant.
You're going to think, man, that's awesome.
I got to put my money toward that.
And all those, all those years that you had on the earth, Christ has been like, I got this, I've sent this person, I've sent, the Holy Spirit sent this person, you know, I'm planting seeds everywhere, but you've rejected me.
And now we have this beast walking around, and it's abomination, and it's gonna damn you to hell.
And that's what scares me.
And that's why I'd like to do these programs.
But the Sabbath is very important.
But if we reject all these things, what does that leave us 100 years from now, Brother David?
Well, me and you are dead and gone.
What's going to happen?
And you can see the decline.
You can see it manifesting and people wanting to prop up the angels and not prop, and well, excuse me, prop up man and angels and not Christ.
And it, to me, that's, that's just, it's setting up the perfect storm to the, to a fallen way nature.
You know, we're already in bad shape, but it's really going to escalate.
Now also, too, an update.
Donna is still in the hospital, but she's still progressing.
So everything is good and on schedule there.
And one thing that I've learned from going up every day visiting and being around the nurses, and of course, If you're around Donna, you're going to get witnessed to, and we've had some really good conversations with a lot of the nurses and the doctors and the people that live there, work there at the hospital, and it's really amazing how much spiritual hunger and desire for answers there is out there.
And a lot of people that were in your Charles Stanley, Joseph Prince type churches, and just talking to them, it's really encouraging how much sense what we say makes to people.
People understand it's wrong to live like a dog and that you can live any way you want to.
I mean, you know, really?
It's okay.
You can throw half the Bible away.
People know that's not right, even if they don't understand why it's not right.
Our message is a simple one.
Come back to Jesus.
That the doctrine of Christ is the most important thing in your life.
And through focusing on Christ, we can understand all of the Word of God.
So we can be encouraged in that, that many, many, many people are turning to the truth.
And many, many more will.
That's why we're here.
In Mark the 3rd chapter, let's read another episode here.
Mark chapter 3, and let's begin in verse 1.
And he entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.
And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
And he said unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do evil, to save life, or to kill?
But they held their peace.
You know, and a lot of people today, is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath?
You know, they're afraid to say anything.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, And being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand.
And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored whole as the other.
And the Pharisees went forth, and here it is.
And straight way took counsel with the Herodians against him how they might destroy him.
It was Jesus doing good and healing on the Sabbath that made the minds up of the Herodians and the Pharisees that they're going to kill him.
You know, it's amazing the hatred that the people that held up this oral Torah and the tradition that the elders had for Jesus, and how nonsensical is it for people to listen to some guy?
I mean, if you can defend the oral Torah with what we have in front of us, and these guys, they, you know, we have, well, we're a New Testament church.
Well, they'll say, well, we're going to be an Old Testament Now, let's look at Exodus chapter 34.
disregard the new.
You know, it's crazy.
But you know, bless their hearts, they're about as smart as a cabbage.
You know, it's just pathetic.
And it is just so nonsensical to think that we can just throw out any part of the Word of God.
Now, let's look at Exodus chapter 34.
Exodus in the 34th chapter.
And let's read the 23rd verse. - Yeah.
Thrice in the year shall all your men appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel.
For I will cast out the nations before thee and enlarge thy borders.
Neither shall any man desire thy land when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God, Now, this is talking about the three great feasts of Israel, and the reason why I read this, we're coming in, we have the Torah laid down in Exodus chapter 20, and after that there were instructions given that pertain to when Israel would be in the land.
We could almost call them civil laws, if you will.
Now, thank God, we do not have to go to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast.
Most of us wouldn't be able to do that, would we?
But we can now—the Israel of God is in dispersion.
Therefore, we can honor the Sabbath and Pentecost and tabernacles, we can honor them in a Christ-centered way without going to Jerusalem, thank God.
Now, the things that were said about the feasts, that the way they should be celebrated when Israel was in the land, there's also things about the Sabbath that no longer apply because they applied only to when Israel was in the land.
And I'll give you, we'll give you an example of this in Exodus chapter 35 and verse 3, and it says here, "...ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the Sabbath day." Now, that's okay.
If you're in the land of Israel, you know, and there's a reason for that, you know.
You know, on the Sabbath, you don't, you know, you can bank your fire the night before and have the heat you need for the next day.
You don't need to be taking that time up doing that.
You know, just like, you know, you don't need to plan to do your grocery shopping on the Sabbath, because, you know, that's just clearly not what you want to do, to go out buying and selling and doing all that.
So there was a reason for that.
But if you were up in northern Canada, Or up in Alaska, you know, and you needed to kindle a fire on the Sabbath day and didn't do it, you could die, you know?
And they lose perspective, you see, that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.
The Sabbath is a blessing.
But there are people that would be so legalistic they would put someone in hell if they build a fire in Canada to save their life, you see.
And people totally miss the whole point of it here.
And when we go back, you know, to that which Jesus said, his acts of healing, and, you know, is it okay to do good on the Sabbath?
Yes, it is.
And on the same way, there's a lot of people that will play fast and loose, and they'll say, well, I believe in the Sabbath, but after they say that, they pretty much just do their own thing.
You know, that is not what we're talking about either.
We're talking about a very serious, heartfelt service of giving ourselves to God.
We're going to read some scripture that's going to bring that more into focus.
It helps out restoration too, you know, getting peace about you and joy and, you know, restore and having the rest, the rest you need, right?
And that's what I was making a point earlier.
You know, these things that come upon the earth, it's a distraction and literally God has given out like the herb barren seed, all this, you know, there's peace and joy and there's love and the God, the father of all has continued to keep giving.
And this is not the time to, you know, put it in neutral and watch it roll down the hill.
It's time to put it in drive and go on, you know, and really, really thrive.
And in the Sabbath day is very important, like I said, to be restored, be at peace and joyful and just, you know, start the new week.
And a lot of people take it to, like you said, full extremes, you know, like you, they'll be like, Oh, he's building a fire or whatever.
And all these traditions and, um, You know, they scoff at you, and they're like, well, you're doing it the wrong day, David.
And, you know, Brian, you're doing it the wrong day.
You know, that's not the right day.
You know, and, you know, these calendar times and everything, David.
And Sabbath day's Saturday.
That's the way I see it.
And I know that's the way you see it, too, Brother David.
Absolutely.
Absolutely it is.
And basically, let's look at some text on the Sabbath as it was given in the Torah.
Exodus chapter 20, verses 8 through 11.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
And these, by the way, they're the Ten Commandments.
They're not the Ten Suggestions.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
That means it's to be set apart for the Lord.
Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.
In it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son nor thy daughter, Thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger, that is within thy gates.
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day.
Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hollowed it.
And in its very most simplistic manifestation, we could say that the Sabbath is Work 6, Rest 1.
Work 6, Rest 1.
And as we've said before, do I know that when I celebrate the Sabbath this Saturday, am I in the perfect alignment from the first Sabbath and then every seven day cycles?
I have no way of knowing.
And I don't believe that I believe that if you're working six and resting one, and I'm not saying here playing fast and loose with anything, but that's basically what the Sabbath is.
You honor that seventh day, you work six, rest one, and in Deuteronomy 5, let's begin in verse 12, it says here, keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.
And you know, make it special.
It's a special day.
It's sanctified as a day for the Lord.
Six days thou shalt labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.
In it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates, that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
So here again we see that resting, physical rest, is a big part of the blessing of the Sabbath.
Physical rest and spiritual enlightenment.
Now, I think my favorite text, and you know, I don't like to micromanage people's lives.
I like, I tell people to be led by the Holy Spirit, and I'll remind them that His first name is Holy, by the way, And if you're led by the Holy Spirit, you will be led on how to honor the Sabbath in a proper way, how to honor the Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles, and all of the Moedims of God in a way that is Christ-centered and pleasing to Him.
And I love this text from the prophet Isaiah, and in Isaiah chapter 58, beginning in verse 13, If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord.
Now that doesn't mean that What you do on the Sabbath, you're not going to enjoy, because absolutely, you're going to enjoy the Sabbath very, very much.
But the difference here is from doing carnal pleasure and the pleasure that comes from setting something apart and experiencing something with the Lord.
Call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord honorable, and shout, Honor Him!
It's a day to honor Him, to say, We're obeying You, Lord, and we're making this day special because we honor You.
Not doing thine own ways, not going about business as usual, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words.
Then thou shalt delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
Now, what an awesome thing and what an awesome blessing that the Sabbath is.
If you will honor God on the Sabbath, I guarantee you, He will honor you.
And I know that in our listeners tonight in the chat, I know many of you, and I know that your Sabbath Keepers and Sabbath sanctifiers like Brian and I are, and I know that the testimonies would abound at the blessing that the Sabbath has been in your life.
The Sabbath is great.
I can't say enough about it, and I can't say enough about all of God's law, that when we are obedient unto the Father, the tremendous blessings that will flow from that.
Now in this text in Isaiah 58, 13, and 14, which I just love these two verses, and let's listen again to the blessing that God promises for sanctifying His Sabbath Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father.
Well, what does that really mean?
Well, let's look at a couple verses that'll help us to understand just what that means.
Let's look in the book of Deuteronomy, and let's look at Deuteronomy chapter 32, and let's look at verse 13.
He made him ride on the high places of the earth, speaking of Israel, that he might eat the increase of the fields, and he made him to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the flinty rock, butter of kine and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs and rams of the breed of Bashan and goats, with the fat of kidneys, wheat,
And thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.
And this is specifically talking about the abundance that God blessed them with and blessed their efforts in their agriculture.
And not only in their agriculture, but in everything they do.
You know, Brian, I believe that honoring the Sabbath will give you good garden.
I absolutely do.
This is exactly what that's talking about.
If you honor me, you'll ride upon the high places of the earth, and a big part of that here in this text is bringing forth an abundance of the things that we all need and enjoy to sustain life.
This is a big thing.
This is a huge thing, and this is a part of that marvelous Sabbath blessing riding upon the high places of the earth.
Yeah, David, I'm praying for a good garden this year, and I'm praying God blesses our garden.
Yes, sir.
I'm sorry, David.
No, you go right ahead.
You're ahead.
Well, you look at the herb-bearing seed in Genesis 1, right?
And you think about the Spirit of God lit up the world, and the herb-bearing seed started growing way before the sun and the moon came.
Like we're talking about tonight, the Sabbath day.
You abide in the commandments of God.
You understand the scripture.
You're not going along with the Pharisees' way.
You're not running around, running amok, worried about what time it is and calculating the star, what the constellation is.
You're just literally resting.
And then you're asking God to bless your endeavors, bless your effort.
Whatever you do, do it like you're doing it to the Lord.
Literally, blessings from God.
You literally get blessings, and I think that's interesting.
A lot of people don't even know, you know, as far as gardening, a lot of people don't even know what that is anymore, David.
No.
It's like a lost art.
Yeah, well I tell you around here, everybody's big time into gardening.
Now me, I'm not because I've learned I am terrible at it.
If you have any plants that you want killed, bring them to me, they'll probably die.
Gardening is not my gift.
And I think the Lord showed me that, so I won't even waste any time trying.
But I guarantee you, there's plenty of people around here God has abundantly blessed with the ability to garden, and it's such an important thing.
You enjoy the sweet potatoes, don't you?
Enjoy the sweet potatoes.
I enjoy the taties and the maters.
I enjoy it all.
And we've got some great friends here that treat us real well in that regard.
In Deuteronomy 33, 29, Happy art thou, O Israel, who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency, and thine enemies shall be found liars.
unto thee, and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
Now, that specific Sabbath blessing, riding on the high places of the earth, is expounded in the Torah as victory over your enemies.
So these are two tremendous blessings, and I guarantee you, if you teach the truth, you're going to have enemies.
This Sabbath blessing, and these are a couple good prayers to remember in your Sabbath prayer time, of the blessing of that, the, the fruit of the earth, and a victory over your enemies.
Now let's go to the 13th chapter of Luke, and let's look at another.
And you know, and when you, you, you people, you read your Bible, and you come across these intermittently, because they're all over our Gospels, But when you put them all together and you study them and you read them one after another, you begin to really realize how much these people hated Jesus.
I mean, they hated him, and you can see Jesus deliberately took them on.
He deliberately flaunted the—he had total disrespect for the oral Torah and the tradition of the elders.
He took it on, and he totally disrespected it because he had to do that in order to show people the truth.
And we're in much the same situation today.
We have to be totally disrespectful to the things that the churches hold most dear to their heart to show people the truth.
We have to just be very blunt to point the error out because it's so blatant.
Now, let's go to the 13th chapter of the Gospel of Luke, and let's pick it up in the 10th verse.
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
Jesus did a lot of teaching on the Sabbath.
So it's okay for me to do the midnight rite, I guess, on the Sabbath, isn't it?
Yeah, that's right.
And behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
And when Jesus saw her, he called her to come, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loose from thine infirmity.
And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.
And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, you know, sure, you got a woman healed, you got to get, someone's got to get mad, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, then said unto the people, there are six days in which men ought to work, and them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.
The Lord then answered him and said, Thou hypocrite!
How appropriate!
Thou hypocrite!
Doth not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to the watering?
And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound low these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?
And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were shamed, and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
And once again we see the hatred that exploded against Christ, and once again we see Jesus openly defying The Oral Torah and the Tradition of the Elders, that he might bring the truth to people.
Now, I want to read something here from a German fellow, probably none of you have heard about, his name is Leopold.
Leonhard Gopelt, he wrote a theology, the New Testament, and this section here is just so on point, I want to read just a little bit.
And it's considering, he really brings it into focus, because when we study, you know, and we've got the cross, the doctrine, and the example of Christ.
The cross, every blessing that we receive in our life is through our faith in the finished work of the cross.
The doctrine of Christ, which is the most important thing in your life, which you know it or not, those are, those red letters, the things that Jesus taught, And the example of Christ is the example of how he does things.
And in the ministry and in his taking on of the Pharisees and their oral Torah, we can get a lesson of how we are to roll.
It's not a go-along, get-along situation.
We have to oppose this because these people opposed our Lord.
I'll just read a little bit here from Mr. Goldpelt.
He said, Pharisee rabbinic Judaism ascribed to the Halakha the same authority it granted to the Torah itself.
And that means the tradition of the elders, that which became their Talmud and Kabbalah.
And he is so true, they hold this equal with the Scripture.
It says the Halakha was traced back to Moses as a secret oral tradition, which we've discussed, which is a total porky.
Jesus, however, drew a sharp distinction between Torah and Halakha in a way that provoked astonishment among his contemporaries.
We gave the one example where in the Torah it says it's okay.
to pick some corn when you pass through a field if there's a need.
And Jesus was absolutely defending the Torah and trashing that imaginary oral Torah and tradition of the elders, the halakha, if you will.
And this is what Jesus was doing.
He was drawing a distinction between the true law of God and the law as the Pharisees had made it up.
And that's when they said, we got to kill this guy.
And I tell you what, when you still take that oral Torah on, when you preach against the oral Torah, you watch who gets mad and you've got the Pharisees right there.
And like I say, this one fellow, I could drop a name, but I won't.
I'm just too sweet.
But this one guy on his YouTube channel has a series defending the oral Torah.
Really?
Really?
That's what you want to do?
Well, I don't think we need to pay any attention to you because you are just about as smart as a cabbage.
That's right.
And it's not a matter of physical intellect.
It's a matter of big time deception.
Big, big, big time deception.
Now, going on.
He says that some of the people out of the Amharez, the righteous Gentiles, did not observe the Pharisee right of washing of the hands was an everyday occurrence.
It became an issue only when Jesus as Rabbi and Prophet intentionally omitted this right.
And Jesus intentionally violated their oral Torah in front of people to make a point.
That these people were leading people astray.
And that's our Jesus.
Sometimes we really have to go against the grain to let people see the truth, you know?
And that's the good thing about what we're saying, that, you know, we're saying, hey, the Bible's good, all of it.
From Genesis to Revelation, the whole Bible is good.
And we're saying that Jesus is the way.
Jesus is the ultimate revelation of God.
We are saved by grace through faith through Jesus Christ, and when we do that, we're going to live right, we're not going to live wrong, and we're going to obey God's law.
It's a very simple message, and it's so right, it's really hard to argue with.
It really is.
When people argue against the authority of the doctrine of Christ, it's hard to sound too intelligent.
When you argue against, well, God's law, well, we don't have to obey God.
You know, it's really kind of hard to do that and make any sense.
They really work at it.
They write books to help explain that away.
But the truth and the power of the gospel is cutting home.
It's a lie.
It's a lie.
And people know it's a lie.
And the more that we preach the truth, the more people are coming to the truth and the realization that the doctrine of Christ is The most important thing in your life.
And David, what you just said is very simple.
It's very simple, and people want to make it into an intellectual thing, right?
Like, look how smart I am as a man or a woman.
And then write a book, and then before you know it, they fool themselves.
And then they're fooling their audience or whoever they're trying to reach.
And then they tear them away from literally far from the teachings of Christ.
We've seen it time and time again.
I think that's very, that's kind of a scary world we live in, you know, when it comes to that.
But thank God that the Word is still here and it's still rocking and rolling.
And that's why we love doing these programs.
And our response is just so, the response we're getting from our DOC channel and Underground Church and Midnight Ride is overwhelming.
It's just, Beyond what we'd ever thought we would receive.
God is honoring our humble efforts.
And it was good.
It's been good for me while Donna's been in the hospital to get real life interaction with people, you know, and really to be able to talk to people.
And I do it in a very loving, I, you know, I don't rail on them.
I share truth with them and I ask them questions, you know, and people understand.
That if they think about it, they get caught up in these personalities, but they understand, you know, the conscience of man knows it's not right to live any way you want to.
This just isn't right.
It's not right to throw parts of the Bible out that you just don't agree with.
You know, it's not right.
And that's our message.
Come back to the Bible, the whole Bible.
Come back to Jesus Christ.
Come back to the doctrine of Christ.
And realize that it's the most important thing in your life to understand everything.
Now, let's look, that reminds me, Brian, of a scripture in 1 Timothy chapter 6 and verse 3.
And a lot of people, we hear it all the time from the people who say, well, we're a New Testament church.
And they'll try to make a strawman argument that Paul and Christ taught two different things.
Now, in 1 Timothy chapter 6 and verse 3, this is the Apostle Paul, by the way, he said, And consent not to wholesome words.
And that word consent means to agree with, doesn't it?
If any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome words, comma, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ.
That's what we're talking about.
We're talking about the words of Jesus, the doctrine of Christ.
And Paul said if you don't consent to that, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings.
You know, Paul said if you don't agree with Jesus' words, how What could be more prideful than for someone to think they know more than Jesus?
Or for someone to think that what Jesus says is no longer relevant for us?
That's the pride of the devil, my friend.
That's exactly what that is.
And Paul said, if you don't agree with the words of Jesus, you don't know anything.
Because the doctrine of Christ is the most important thing in your life, and as that was put, and this is, I'll read you a scary verse here, this is a scary verse, this is one of them, we can't say this in church verses, it's one of, we could call this an invisible scripture.
In 2 John 9, Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God.
Period.
Full stop.
Now, are we Bible believers now?
Is it actually true?
How many teachers and preachers are there that you could listen to preach every sermon from now to when they die and you would never hear the doctrine of Christ come out of their mouth?
This, the only true biblical doctrine, is the doctrine of Christ.
It's essential.
It's essential.
If you don't have the doctrine of Christ, you don't have God, because Jesus is God, and he came to reveal God unto us by that which he taught.
Jesus said, the words that I speak are not mine, but they're the words the Father gave me.
You see, so I tell you what, this is not some kind of a little game that we just play.
It's like some kind of a religious smorgasbord where you just spin the wheel and just sample whatever you think's tasty.
This is life and death.
This is dealing with the souls of men, preaching the glorious gospel, to bring them to the only thing that can save their soul.
Acts 4 and 12, neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
John 14, 6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by me.
This is the straight and narrow gate by which you and I will get to heaven.
There is no other.
There is no other way.
Jesus is the way.
Believing in him as the cross, the doctrine, and the example of all that we believe and stand for.
My favorite scripture is John 8, 31.
Jesus said, if you believe in my sayings, you'll never see death.
That is what I stake my eternal, the destiny of my eternal soul is resting upon that very thing.
Now let's look at Mark chapter 7 just a little bit.
And in Mark chapter 7 verse 1, Then came together unto him the Pharisees and certain of the scribes which came from Jerusalem.
And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defile, that is to say, unwashing hands, they found fault.
Now this is the context of the seventh chapter of Mark.
It's about the controversy Of eating food, and this washing was a ritualistic Pharisee washing.
I mean, it was crazy the way they did it.
I mean, it was a ritual the way they washed their hands.
That's what we're talking about.
We're not even talking about eating with dirty fingers.
We're talking about doing a Pharisee ritual before you eat.
And Jesus and his disciples didn't go along with that.
And that's what caused this controversy here in the seventh chapter of Mark.
Once again, Jesus just absolutely, deliberately violating the oral Torah of the Pharisees.
Now, we'll jump down here And in verse 7, Jesus says, Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandment of men.
Now, that word vain, that means good for nothing, and that's something we should pay attention to.
Now, let's read the explanation.
Let's get in verse 14, and we'll just read a little bit.
There's something very important here I want to show you.
And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me, every one of you, and understand, there is nothing from without a man that entering into him can defile him, but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile him.
If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Then when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning this parable.
And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also Do ye not perceive that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him, because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught purging all meats?" And the Dr. Dave interpretation of that, it goes in one end and it comes out the other.
You know, that's the way it rolls.
And in verse 20, and he said, That defileth the man, for from within, out of the heart of men, proceedeth evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, and evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
All these things come from within and defile the man.
Now I want to focus on verse 19.
And I want to read that again in the King James, and this, well, the King James, it says, Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the drought, purging all meats.
Now, I want to read this in the New International Version, and this is a verse that I would use.
There was a time, many decades ago, When I was a pork eater and I used the NIV Bible, I was a pork eating NIV Bible toter.
Now, that's going back a few decades, but there was the time.
Now, when someone would tell me that it was not proper to eat pork, this is what I would throw at them.
Mark 7 19, which is totally changed in the NIV because it follows the apostate Westcott and Hort text.
It says here in the NIV, Mark 7 19, For it doesn't go into their heart, but into their stomach, and then out of the body.
In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.
That is not in the text in the New Testament.
That's not in our Bible.
This was absolutely added in in the apostate West Carton Hort text.
Let me read again the portion that was added in.
In Mark 7, 19, this was added.
In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.
Jesus didn't say that.
It doesn't say that in the text of Scripture.
But this was added in.
And it was added in by the devil, I'll just say it, it was added in by the devil to steer us away from the truth of God.
Now, Jesus is indeed The Lord of the Sabbath, and if we'll just follow Jesus, the real one, but you see, it's real clear that the Jesus here in the NIV Bible is not the same that we read in the King James, because this totally flips the meaning, and this totally does away with the food laws in Leviticus, which are still there for our benefit.
They are there for our good, and I'm going to do, very soon, we're going to do a Another little live broadcast just on expanding on this, because it's real important that we really have clear understanding about what Jesus said about defilement.
So I think with this, Brian, I think we're going to conclude our little teaching here this evening on the Lord of the Sabbath.
And as I say, this is one of the series we're going to do.
We're going to take A saying of Jesus like this we've done, eat my flesh and drink my blood, and different things that are just misused, and we're going to just focus on specific sayings, and we're going to just meditate on it and expand upon it until we really understand what it means.
So this Lord of the Sabbath is a very important thing, and the understanding of the Sabbath It's such a great blessing for us all, and I just want to say that I appreciate each and every one of you that has joined us for this broadcast this evening.
We are just so thankful and honored.
We talked, it seemed like, so long.
About being able to launch a YouTube channel totally dedicated to what Jesus said, and it's such a blessing.
We're going to continue the labor of love to expand and just deepen our study of Jesus, because I tell you what, Whether you know it or not, the doctrine of Christ is the most important thing in your life.
Brian, do you have any final thoughts on our study for this evening?
Actually, I do.
The little, you said the invisible verse, it got me thinking, you know, 2 John Well, it's only one chapter in that, but 2 John 1.9 that we referred to earlier that you referenced.
Yes, sir.
So, whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
So, I want to point this out.
I seen something the other day, well I see it quite often, and that's why I mentioned the AI component and all that extra data, extra features to the program here.
I kind of got a little bit off set of the Sabbath, but I thought it was important for it to go along.
But then, when you mention this verse, it does go, it really does kind of line up with the whole AI thing.
You know, Brother David, there's people out there that I have come across in my walk, Just recently and whatnot, and they believe in certain things.
They believe the whole AI component, the Mandela, all this nonsensical mindset.
Okay, so if you read this 2nd John 1-9 though, and whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God.
He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
So if you say that the Word has changed and altered and all this nonsense and mindset, So it's no different than when Constantine and you know, the old good old Vatican over there, you know changing the Sunday, well Saturday Sabbath to Sunday Sabbath.
It's no different.
It's it's you're saying that you know, there's all this debate online talking about that the the lion laying down with the lamb the wolf and all this other stuff, you know changing the scriptures, but that's 2nd John 1 9 brother David and That would be some transgression, wouldn't it?
Brother David, if you're going on this, and if you're saying that the Sabbath day has changed and all this stuff, deemed by the Vatican, deemed by this individual, right?
And Constantine was really big into, you know, changing to the heliocentric model and all this nonsense.
Lunar time and all this other nonsense.
And then when you get into, there's some people that I really do, I haven't talked to for a long time, but they believe in the rolling Sabbaths.
You know, like, hey, it changes here on Tuesday, right?
So what that does is a spirit of confusion.
Oh boy.
So when you're saying and you're mocking like for example people mocking us for literally reading the Bible and say well that's not true.
Everybody's so gun-ho for staying on the KJV.
Why would you say that?
Why would you go on any kind of train, jump on any kind of train, and say, oh, this is what I remember of this, and there's all this, you know, people are saying, well, my memory serves me correct.
I remember this as a little boy, da-da-da-da-da.
And then, it's so easy to be predictive programming, you know, and completely spoon-fed all this nonsense, right, over and over and over again.
Well, you'll believe it.
Like, you'll say, oh yeah, I do remember that false memory.
But then we got to learn, we got to understand that we're in a spiritual warfare, a spiritual, there's a spiritual applications to this and people seem to fall off of that and believe that that's not such things and that would go back into the Pharisees, right?
Saying, well, you don't do this, you don't.
So it's the same concept.
But when I seen you bring up the second John 1, 9, that really hit home for me because that is a thing, David.
So then you think about the AI application, And all this, and all this great falling away, and this reprobate mindset, and this discord thrown into the, you know, basically the wrench into the motor, and you refer to, you know, cabbage and other things like that, people are going to literally fall by the wayside.
And I think that's very sad that you'll take the word And you just rip it up into a billion pieces and say, well, this doesn't apply to my life now.
And then you don't remember, you don't even go back and look in ancient, you know, just not even that far long ago, there's sinister men changing things and altering the, you know, basically the setup for mankind.
But the Bible has stayed strong the whole of our time.
And then one thing I'll reference again, I'll bring it up in this program.
Jesus is the right hand of the Father right now.
And Jesus was at the foundation of the world when it was made.
And the sons of God, shout out for joy that the foundation was laid.
And Jesus and the Holy Spirit and the Almighty God was there.
So why in the world are we going to say in 2024 that we're so superior And we have all this knowledge, and it's the same dance, just like it was in the Garden of Eden, Brother David.
We think like we're gods and all this nonsense, and we'll say, hey, we're superior now.
We have all this knowledge.
Well, like I mentioned earlier, we're going to We have lack of knowledge.
We reject knowledge.
We reject the good knowledge, which we presented tonight.
Yes.
And having that Sabbath day, that restoration and rejuvenation of your mind, your soul, your spirit, and just being able to preach the gospel.
And like I said earlier, too, salt of the earth and these fallen angels and all these other wickedness, all this nonsense that's going on.
They're trying to make us stumble, but that is not what the Lord wants for us.
So, there's my take.
I really wanted to hone in on that verse, Brother Dave, because I haven't seen that one for a long time, and you got my gears running on that one.
That's a serious verse, and if that verse is true, and it is, There's a lot of preachers out there and a lot of eternal trouble.
There really are.
And I'll give you this short version of the Analyzation of the Mandela Effect.
It's a 100% demonic PSYOP and an attack on the Word of God.
That's exactly what it is.
I have the very first edition of the King James Bible in the Old English font.
The words have not changed.
They have not changed.
They're not changing.
There's not some little time-traveling devil changing the Bible in your nightstand.
You know, this is a huge demonic lie, and it's just nothing less than that.
That's all that needs to be said about that.
And I'm just so thankful, you know, to just be able to say tonight, Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.
He's Lord of all.
He will show you and lead you into all truth through his marvelous Holy Spirit.
And once again, just many thanks to each and every one of you and here that are part of this broadcast tonight.
Thank you so very much.
And with that, we're going to close out our broadcast this evening.
Just reminding us all once again, That whether you know it or not, the doctrine of Christ is the most important thing in your life.
So we just want to say high five and good night everybody from the EpoJC Radio YouTube channel.
