truthradioshow.com Shalom and welcome to the Dan Bedanshaw on truthradioshow.com and welcome to the book of 1 Corinthians So guys, if you miss Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, they're in our playlist guys.
So this is an in-depth comprehensive study of the book of Corinthians, 1st Corinthians, and we're going to do chapter by chapter as we always do.
And today we start with chapter one.
So if you're new to the series, guys, what we do is we do a specific Bible study approach.
Like the rest of the videos we do, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
Very important to do.
So let's do that right now.
So Jesus Yeshua Messiah would come before you and we ask for forgiveness once again for the sins that we've committed today.
Many trespasses, transgressions, abominations.
Or anything that, you know, we've done wrong, Lord, we ask you for forgiveness.
And Heavenly Father, we ask you to write your word with the Holy Spirit, write your word upon our hearts today, which is 1 Corinthians chapter 1.
And we ask you to comfort everybody that needs comforting and protect us all from the forces of evil.
And please give us divine wisdom and understanding of your scripture today.
In your mighty name we pray, amen.
And we read the scripture in context, because context is key.
Very important to understand this, as we say over and over again.
Unfortunately, a lot of false religions and a lot of churches out there, in general, do not read the scripture in context.
And this is why the Bibles misunderstood or took it basically the wrong way.
People use it to their advantage, taking scripture out of context, which is wrong.
False religions do this all the time.
So let the scripture interpret the scripture.
Let the Holy Spirit work through you.
And don't lean on your own understanding.
So, let's open to the Bible, guys.
1 Corinthians chapter 1.
So, we begin with Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sargentus, our brother.
And unto the church of God, which is in Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints.
With all that and every place of call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord both theirs and ours.
Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
So obviously this is Paul making this letter to the Church of Corinth because there's some issues going on right now in this time period here.
There's some issues going on in the Church of Corinth that Paul is very concerned about.
As you'll see coming up here.
And I thank my God always on your behalf.
For the grace of God, which is given you by Jesus Christ.
Because Jesus Christ is that grace.
That we may get a second chance here, we may get a chance at everlasting life.
Because, you know, plain and simple, let's face it.
You know, without Jesus Christ, I think all of us would be going to hell.
No doubt about that.
And that in everything, you are enriched by Him in all utterance and all in knowledge.
Of all knowledge.
And even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you.
So the testimony of Jesus Christ is confirmed in us, absolutely.
It's through the Holy Spirit.
And you believe in Him as the Messiah.
That He shed His blood for us.
That whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3.16, right?
So that you come behind in no gift, waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So who shall also confirm you into the end?
That you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So who else is going to confirm you?
Nobody but Jesus, plain and simple.
So God is faithful by whom you were called unto fellowship of his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you shall speak the same thing, that there shall be no division among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind, in the same judgment.
Now, like I said, Paul's very concerned about what's going on in the Church of Corinth.
This is why he's writing this letter to them.
Because there's division in this church.
And if you really look at it today, guys, how much division is in the churches now?
Instead of having just one faith in Jesus Christ, what do we have?
40,000!
4-0-0-0-0.
40,000.
Four, zero, zero, zero, zero.
40,000 different denominations of Christianity.
Everybody thinks they have the right religion or the true religion, Catholics do.
Episcopals do.
Baptists do.
And they take the Word of God and they manipulate it.
As we just talked about earlier.
Taking Bible verses out of context.
To fit their religious dogma and agenda.
There's major divisions out there.
There's dispensationalism.
People twisting the Word of God.
We got this all over the place, guys.
And yes, the Bible says we're not supposed to have division.
Does that mean we're just supposed to keep our mouth shut when we see somebody twisting the word of God?
No, that's not what that means.
In other words, we're all supposed to be on the same page.
If every one of us right now were to follow, doesn't matter what religion you are, drop your religion, follow the Bible.
That's being on the same page.
And you know what causes this division, guys?
It's religion.
Cause everybody thinks they're in the true religion, and these religions have the thing called religious dogma.
Now what is religious dogma?
Religious dogma is an agenda that they push.
They take scripture out of context, and they push, most of the time, another doctrine.
The Catholic Church, they got the Catechism.
When the Bible says, don't turn the itch in the ears to doctrines of men or devils.
You got the Mormons with the...
The Book of Mormons, you got the Watchtower, you got the Book of the Dead, you got so many other, you know, the Quran, all these other doctrines.
Instead of just listening to the Word of God, religions, that's religious dogma.
And this is why there's massive division.
Instead of us just saying, yeah, I'm not a Catholic, I'm not Episcopal, I'm not a Baptist, I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
This is what I constantly preach.
People ask me, oh, what's your religion?
I'm gonna say, I don't have a religion.
Oh, I thought you were a person of God.
Well, I am.
You don't need to be in religion to be a person of God.
People don't understand that.
They can't comprehend when you see this stuff.
Because it's simple.
If you're a follower of Jesus Christ and the Word of God, you don't need religion.
There's massive division because of this.
Instead of us just listening to the Word of God, But no, you gotta join a religion, listen to a pope, you gotta listen to a bishop, you gotta listen to this fancy pastor that's all over TV.
Instead of just simply reading the Word of God on your own, while the church being unified with the Bible.
And if you wanna know how churches, if they're unified with the Bible, churches that celebrate the biblical feasts, not fake pagan holidays, Like Christmas leaves that have nothing to do with Jesus.
Churches that honor the Sabbath and keep it holy, as the Bible says.
Especially in the New Testament, we're supposed to keep the Sabbath.
But, again, when you talk about these things, you cause division.
And the thing is, it's not you causing division, because you're speaking what the Bible says.
It's the other people.
We're supposed to be no division, and we're supposed to be perfectly joined together in the same mind, in the same judgment.
So how do we get together in the same mind?
In the same judgment?
Simply, by reading the scripture again.
Without the input of the Pope, or some 700 Club clown, or whatever the case, or some religious fanatic.
See, what we did here, we already did 10 verses now, right?
What we did here, religions never do this.
They'll take one verse, and you can interpret it 10 different ways.
When you take one verse in context, all 10 people are going to come up with the same interpretation, because you don't need to interpret it.
It's simple, you know, clear as day.
That's why it needs to be read in context.
So this is very important to understand what's going on here, right?
This has happened in the Church of Corinth back then.
It's definitely happened more than ever now.
With this huge division.
You got people out there telling you the Ten Commandments and you don't abolish.
When the Bible says no such thing.
You got people telling you that there's going to be a secret rapture.
When Jesus says he comes immediately after the tribulation, you got people telling you all kinds of crazy stuff.
That Jesus came back in 70 AD and all was fulfilled then.
No, none of that's true.
When you read the Bible, you can clearly see, you don't need to interpret, it's easy.
Especially when you got the Holy Spirit working through you.
So what does it mean, again, to be in no division?
If we have no division among us, perfectly joined together in the same mind as those of us who read the scripture.
We don't rely on religious fanatics.
And like the Bible says, you challenge every spirit, everybody.
And I always encourage people to challenge me.
See, a liar, a false prophet is not going to tell you that.
False prophets are going to say, oh, this is facts and that's it.
You don't have to challenge it.
Now, a true man of God would admit when he's wrong, and I've done that many times, a true man of God would tell you to challenge them and read the scriptures for yourself.
That's what we're supposed to do.
And especially as people teach the scripture, we have a major responsibility.
We need to be humble, And accept correction.
This is why it's important.
When you read the Bible context, you don't have to worry about any of that because it's clear as day.
The Holy Spirit reaches out.
So again, because I beseech you, brethren, I urge you, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, that there be no division among you, that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment.
So, that's what I'm calling out for people to do today.
And how do we do that?
Again, avoid religion, avoid religious dogma, like dispensationalism, the prosperity doctrine and all that.
Avoid all that.
You read the Bible from the Word of God directly.
Through the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ.
Empowered by the Father.
And you'll never go wrong.
And if we all do that, guess what?
We will become A people of no division.
We will become a people of the same mind.
And the same judgment.
Very important, guys.
For it had been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are in the house of Claw, that are contentions among you.
And, like today, there's contentions among us all.
All these people's walks of life are in different origins.
So you can see Paul was dealing with the same problems we have today.
And in fact, today it's worse because we have 40,000 different denominations of Christianity that we have other religions and cults that think they know better.
Newsflash, God knows better.
So now, this I say, that every one of you said, I am of Paul, and I am of Apollos, and I am of Cephas, and I am of Christ.
Is Christ divided?
He's asking, is Christ divided?
Was Paul crucified for you?
So he's asking the people.
Because there are people out there at the time saying, I'm of Paul, I'm of Apollos, I'm of Seppias, and I'm of Christ, right?
So he's asking of his people.
Is Christ divided?
Of course not.
And he's saying, am I divided?
Was Paul crucified for you?
He's saying, was I crucified for you?
Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
He's asking the people this.
Because he's division here.
Then again, people say they're Paul, Apollos, Sisypheus, and of course.
And he says, is Christ the writer?
Good question, right?
Which he's not.
Was Paul, you know, himself there, crucified for you?
Of course not.
And were you baptized in the name of Paul?
In other words, were you baptized in the name of me?
Of course not.
And he says, I thank God that I baptized none of you but Cyprus and Gelas.
Lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name.
Someone's saying I never baptized anybody in my own name.
The baptism he did do was in the name of Jesus Christ.
And I baptized also the household of Stephanas.
Besides, I know not whether I baptize any other.
So for Christ has sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made non-effect.
So, the wisdom of words, in other words, he's saying, is because these people out there, they call themselves... I forget what they're called.
Yeah, the name for these people up there.
These are people who speak, and people revere them.
Which is called a philosopher, right?
And people looked up to these people because they have words of wisdom.
That's not going to save you.
So if you relied on that, then what he's saying, Jesus going to the cross, it was for nothing.
And right here where it says, for Christ sent me not to baptize you, because I know people take things out of context, he's not saying, okay, not to get baptized.
Before somebody jumps the gun and says, oh look, baptizing is not required.
He didn't say that.
He said he's not baptizing people.
His job was to preach the gospel.
Yeah, certain apostles, their job was to baptize.
Certain apostles, their job was to heal.
Certain apostles, like Paul, their mission was to preach the gospel.
Just like us all here.
I mean, you got street preachers out there?
God bless them.
You got people like myself who do shows and internet things to reach people all over the world.
You got people out there that write blogs.
Everybody has a different quorum for the Lord.
Because if we all had the same quorum, it'd be useless, you know?
He uses us and the team, like, so we hit every aspect.
So Paul, he's not saying it's not to get baptized.
He's just saying he's not there to baptize.
His quorum is to preach the gospel, plain and simple.
And he goes down with the words wisdom, right?
With philosophers and all that.
Yeah, don't listen to them.
Because if you listen to them, the whole point of Jesus dying on the cross would be for nothing.
And he goes on to say, for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness.
But unto us which are saved, it is the power of God.
Now again, context is key, guys, right?
And he's saying, the preaching of Christ to them that perish is foolishness.
Now he goes on to say, For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
And what is prudent?
Prudent is acting or showing care and thought for the future.
So, he's acting like there was a concern about their future.
Or your future.
So, again, he says, for it is written.
Talk about, when they say, for it is written, what do they talk about?
Jesus said this a lot.
Paul's saying this a lot.
For it is written.
Remember, the New Testament was written back then.
So what are they referring to?
You know, what a lot of these main churches say, you know, the Old Testament's, it's just, it doesn't matter anymore?
Really?
Because again, how many times has Paul said that in Romans?
How many times has Jesus said, for it's written, referring to Old Testament, Torah, and the Old Testament?
So Paul's reciting here the Old Testament.
Remember the Bible says those who profess to be wise are what?
the Bible says, those who profess to be wise are what?
Fools.
Fools.
I'll destroy the wisdom of the wise and I'll bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
You know, the people who worry about the future and all that stuff, right?
And he asks, where is the wise?
Where is the scribe?
So a scribe would be like a philosopher back then, right?
Where are these people?
Where is the disputer of this world?
Has God not made foolish to the wisdom of this world?
Of course he has.
And this goes on to today too.
This is great.
Guys, there's so many people out there, you know, preaching the evolution doctrine, and, you know, science proves, uh, you know, evolution, which science does not, and, you know, you could go a bunch of different things.
All saying that, you know, they're disproving God, you know?
You, you know, those are fools.
And they claim to be wise, right?
And yeah, God, he says, "Has not God made the foolish, the wisdom of this world?" Yeah, where is the wise saying?
Where is the scribe?
Where is the disputer of this world?
The people dispute the world, right?
Has not God made foolish the wiser wisdom in the world?
So he's saying God made fools of them.
And he still does.
For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God.
So the world that claims their own wisdom, right?
They don't know God.
It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Now, for the Jews required a sign.
Now, he goes on to explain this, before people take this out of context.
Goes on to explain what he's talking about.
This is why context is key.
Because you can take these two verses and be like, what in the heck is he talking about?
Now, he goes on to explain.
He says, for the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
So the Jews always want to sign some kind of a miracle, okay, to prove God.
And the Greeks just seek after wisdom.
They're like, there's a lot of philosophers that came from Greece.
But we preach Christ crucified unto the Jews a stumbleback and unto the Greeks foolishness.
So what he's saying, what we preach, guys, today in the world today, right?
What we preach The Jews think it's a stumbling block, because they don't believe Jesus is the Messiah, even to this day.
And the average people out there, they think they're all smart and everything, right?
To them, we're foolishness, when we preach about God, when we preach about Jesus Christ.
But unto them, which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
So he's offering real knowledge, real truth of Jesus Christ to both Jews and Greeks.
Which is everybody, yeah, basically describe it.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man.
So basically he's saying, and then now, let me just read this first, right?
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man, and the weakness of God is stronger than man.
So, is Paul saying that God's foolish?
Is Paul saying that God is weak?
Because I know a lot of scoffers would use this to say, oh, Paul's saying that God's weak and foolish.
No, Paul's not saying that.
He's speaking derogatory.
He goes, what you people think, you know, those people will call God foolishness, right?
Guess what?
Him being a fool to your level, right?
He's still wiser than you.
And the people call God weak, right?
You tell them, well, regardless of what you think, God's still stronger than you.
So those brainiacs out there that think, oh, evolution, you know, push evolution and all this other garbage, right?
They know better than God, and they think God's foolishness.
It's all foolishness, it's all made up, right?
Well, you tell them, say, guess what?
God knows better.
You think God's foolish, but guess what?
He's still wiser than you.
You think He's a weak God?
Yeah, He's still stronger than you.
So whatever you think is irrelevant, that's what Paul's saying.
He's not calling God foolish, he's not calling him weak.
He's just saying, you know, battling back with their terms.
For you see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called.
So he's saying that not many people, because they're caught up in the wise men, so-called smart men in the world yet.
They're smart in academia, but yeah, that's all.
It's hard for them to convert because they've been brainwashed.
It's not that they're smart, they're just more brainwashed than anybody else.
And men after the flesh, right?
If men live by the flesh, it's real hard for them to convert.
And not many, many people who are strong and noble are not called.
I'm sorry, called, right?
Again, for you see, you're calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, and not many mighty, and not many noble are called.
Not many of these people are called.
These are people of the world, he's saying.
Not many of them are called.
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.
And God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.
So, see what's going on here?
Again, he's not calling God foolish, or saying you're foolish because he chose you, or weak, no.
He's using, this is awesome, right?
He uses what the world thinks is foolish, right?
To confound these so-called smart people, right?
Just to really get at them, right?
Then he uses what the world thinks are weak, and uses it to confound things which are mighty.
So, guys, if you don't get this, what I'm trying to say to you, he's not saying God's these things, right?
But he's saying what the world thinks of these things, like, you know, the world would look at us today, right?
And think we're stupid.
They got all these degrees, the master's degrees, but we're dumb to them, right?
We're fools to them.
So, he's saying, you know, what the world thinks is foolish, yeah, God will use that to confound them, you know, to overpower them.
The same thing with strength.
So if you've got any questions about that or any of that or any of this at all I'll put it in the comment section and I'll get back to you if you need more clarity.
and base things of the world and things which are despised has God chosen yea and things which are not to bring to naught things that are not so basically he's just verified what we just said so what the world despised he's saying right Okay.
God's chosen you.
So the world calls you weak, guess what?
God's making you strong.
The world calls you stupid, God's making you wise.
And it's reversed.
Because the world, what they deem, like, you know, again, you could go to scholars or whatever, you know, academic people, right?
The world deems us as experts and all that stuff, right?
And wise.
And they deem you as a fool.
Because there you preach the word of God, right?
Well, God made it reverse.
Hope that makes sense to you.
And that no flesh should glory in his presence.
No flesh.
Because the glory goes to who?
It goes to Jesus Christ.
See, as he says, but of him you are in Christ, Jesus.
Who of God is made unto wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
That according as it is written, again, right?
That according as it is written, referring to what?
The Old Testament, the Torah.
According to the old scriptures, he that glorits, let him glory in the Lord.
So if you want to glorify, right?
Glorify in the Lord.
Don't do it in yourself, because yourself can't save you.
That's true wisdom.
and fair and award is the beginning of wisdom, right?
So again, right here.
Above Him, are you in Jesus?
Who of God has made us into wisdom?
So God's turned us into wisdom, because right now we're learning wisdom.
Something no academic, no academia can teach.
No college, no university, not even a church.
This is the real wisdom of the world, um, people.
The wisdom that the Holy Spirit gives us.
This is the real wisdom.
God has made us into wisdom and righteousness, and sanctification and redemption.
He's redeemed us, sanctified us as his children, and gave us wisdom and righteousness in his name.
Now according to as it's written, referring to the old scriptures, He that glorieth, right, be glory and glorify the Lord.
Let him glorify in the Lord.
So again, if you need more clarification guys, hit me up in the comments section.
So awesome, awesome study today.
