So what we do is in-depth, comprehensive study and, you know, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.
So what we do is a specific Bible study approach.
We pray for wisdom and understanding, so let's do that right now.
So Jesus, Yeshua, we come before you, and we ask you to forgive us all of our individual sins, trespasses, transgressions, or abominations that any of us may have committed.
And we ask you to purify us with your precious blood.
And thank you so much for everything you do for us.
And I'm forever in debt for you, and forever you've done for us to save us from sin, to save us from death, and to give us a place in the kingdom of God.
And Heavenly Father, we come before you, and want to say we love you with all our hearts and souls.
And we ask you to give us your divine wisdom and understanding, and give us the divine comfort of the Holy Spirit, to write your word upon our heart today in the books of Acts, chapter 8.
And we ask you to just comfort everybody and protect everybody from the forces of evil, And especially with these days and times and everything going on, we ask you to give everybody courage and wisdom and faith to withstand anything that's coming upon us.
In your mighty name we pray.
Amen.
So what we all do too is read the scripture and context.
Remember that context is key.
This is very critical.
Can't say this enough.
That's why we do this every video.
This Bible study approach has to be said at every video because we can simply forget this stuff.
And it's very important you do all this before reading the scriptures.
And let the scripture interpret the scripture.
Don't lean on your understanding.
I don't lean on mine.
Let the Holy Spirit work with us, guys.
That's what the comfort is there for.
So, if you've got a Bible, open up to Acts chapter 8. So, if you remember the Acts chapter 7, well, Acts chapter 6 for us, was about Stephen.
Stephen the apostle, the brand new apostle, right?
So he was put on a court and tested, you know, they tried to convict him as a criminal against the law.
And so long story short, they end up killing him.
The Jewish leaders end up killing him and Stephen was filled with the Holy Ghost.
And right at the end, to the people that killed him, he even said right at the end of chapter 7 here, He kneeled down and cried with a loud voice and he said, lay not the sin to the charge.
Just like the same thing Jesus did.
Forgive these people for they don't know what they do, right?
Stephen is just about saying the same thing.
And after he said this, he fell asleep.
Remember, he was full of the Holy Spirit and he was looking upon heaven, literally, and saw God and Jesus on the throne.
So, this is right after here, chapter 8. This is our video today.
This is right after Stephen passed away from being stoned to death, right?
So, and Saul, now, if you all know who Saul is here right now, right?
Saul is Paul.
He's not known as Paul yet.
Saul is a huge, huge persecutor against the Christian movement.
Right?
So, at the time, Saul is a very evil person.
So, and Saul was consented unto his death.
So, he's the one who's like, yeah, let's kill this guy.
He was one of the big names in charge of killing Stephen.
And at the time, there was a great persecution against the church, which was at Jerusalem.
The church is the people.
It's not a religion, guys.
It's not the Catholic Church.
It's not any of the 40,000 different denominations of Christianity or the Jewish religion.
It's not a religion.
The church is us, the followers of Jesus Christ.
Plain and simple.
We only answer to Jesus.
We don't answer to popes.
We don't answer to the clowns on the 700 Club or the false prophets on all over the television running around screaming like banshees.
You know, using Kundalini on people.
We don't answer to those people.
We answer straight to the boss himself.
Jesus Christ.
So there was a great persecution against the church that was in Jerusalem.
And that they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles, right?
So these people scattered abroad, those are called disciples.
Remember, there's hundreds of disciples.
The Apostles is the 12th.
At the time, now it's back to 11th.
Because Stephen was...
He was actually the replacement for number 12. And, yeah, he's dead now.
Because he replaced...
He replaced Judas.
I almost forgot his name.
So he was a replacement for Judas because Judas betrayed Jesus.
So now they just killed him.
So Paul was consented to his death.
So a devout man carried Stephen to his burial and made a great lamentation over him.
So basically prayer and all that stuff and just did a nice service for him.
As for Saul, later becomes Paul, one of the greatest apostles there is, but right now he's just an evil guy.
So as for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entered into every house and hailed men and women committed to them to prison.
So everywhere Saul went, he led a little charge there, and he was going after Christians.
Going right into their houses, arresting them and committing them to prison.
Just for believing in Jesus Christ, right?
And therefore, that they were scattered abroad and went everywhere and preaching the word.
So all the disciples of God, Jesus, went all over the place.
They were scattered abroad, except for the apostles.
Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them.
And the people with one accord, again one accord means doing it together, as one, gave heed unto those, which is a warning, unto those things in which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
He gave heed, in other words, went into these things.
And listened to them.
And hearing and seeing the miracles that he did, right?
And for the unclean spirits, which are demons and familiar spirits, right?
Crying with a loud voice came out of many that were possessed with them.
So people who were possessed, right?
Anytime they went near Jesus at the time when he was alive...
Well, on the earth, I should say.
He's always alive now.
But when he was on the earth, yeah.
And now, Philip having, you know, Philip and the apostles having the Holy Spirit with them, every time a clean spirit, somebody possessed, went near them, they started screaming.
And they were cast out.
And many taken with palsies, there's a different disease here, and that were lame, which they call lame, which doesn't mean what it means today.
You know, laymen simply like mental or some kind of a handicap back then.
And they were healed.
So people were possessed, had palsies and all kinds of diseases and all that, and were, you know, some kind of a handicap, whatever, were all healed.
And it was great joy in that city.
But it was a certain man called Simon, which before time in the same city used to use sorcery.
And bewitching the people of Samaria, given out of himself was one great one.
So now this is not Simon Peter, guys.
This is another Simon, right?
There was a great man, a certain man in this city, he practiced witchcraft and sorcery.
Did a lot of very evil things, cultism, right?
To whom they all gave heed.
And from the least to the greatest, saying that this man is a great power of God.
And to him, they were had with God because that long time he had bewitched them with sorcerers.
So he fooled these people.
That's what's going on here.
So this Simon here, who's practicing witchcraft and everything else, right?
He did all these great things.
Well, to them, the people look like great things, right?
He tricked them.
He baguiled them.
Fooled them.
Deceived them to think these powers are from God.
Right?
And he's a great man with great power of God, right?
Wrong.
But when they believed Philip preaching that the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Then Simon himself believed also.
So Simon did a little transformation, right?
He ended up believing the gospel of Jesus.
And when he was baptized, he continued with Philip and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
So this is Simon, right?
Even though he got baptized and all that, he was tagging along with Philip.
And just marveling after the miracles and signs that Philip was able to do.
And mind you, Simon was the same guy who was doing witchcraft in that same area, in the same city I mean, fooled people to make them think that he had power of God, right?
So now when the apostles which were in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John.
So Peter and John came along.
Who, when they come down, pray for them that they might receive the Holy Ghost.
So, this is Peter and John.
They heard this because Samaria was full of witchcraft.
Right?
And there's a reason why they mention this guy Simon for, right?
It's full of witchcraft.
So they were so excited that they converted people in Samaria that Peter and John came down so they could bring the Holy Ghost to them.
So they could receive.
The people that got converted could receive the Holy Ghost.
For as yet he was, remember, the Holy Ghost guy is the comforter.
Jesus told them, remember, John, I will send you a great comforter.
And that comforter is he, the Holy Spirit.
That's right.
It's a he.
Don't let any religions in.
I want to point out real quick, guys.
There are blasphemous religions out there right now and beliefs like the Essenes, Gnostics, Kabbalistic, and all these mystic religions and cults out there.
They blaspheme the Holy Spirit to say the Holy Spirit's a girl.
It's a female.
It's not.
It's a male.
And what does the Bible say?
The unforgivable sin is those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
You will not be forgiven in this lifetime nor the next.
Jesus says, you can curse me and I can forgive you.
You curse the Father, you'll be forgiven.
But you curse the Holy Ghost and blaspheme the Holy Ghost, you will not be forgiven in this life or the next one to come.
Which is the second when you die.
You've got to go to hell, bottom line.
For as yet as fallen upon them, they were baptized in the name of Jesus, the Lord Jesus.
Then laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
So Peter and John, after they were baptized, Peter and John laid their hands on them, that they received the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost came into them, right?
And when Simon saw, through laying the hands of the apostles' hands, when Simon was witnessing this, right, the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money.
It's saying, give me also this power, that whomever I lay hands on it, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
So, this is Simon, right?
Remember, he's tied along with Philip.
Now, Simon was the guy who walked around all over Samaria, that he had these magic, you know, these dark powers.
He was doing witchcraft, right?
So, supposedly he converted.
We don't know the man's heart, right?
So, now here he is, orphaned money.
Money, right?
Right?
To Peter and John, so he could have the power to lay hands on people and give them the Holy Ghost, right?
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
He's like, are you serious?
You think the gift of God could be actually purchased with money?
Wow, it sounds like a lot of religions today, doesn't it?
Taking the Bible out of context, give us your money or, you know, whatever.
Yeah.
Not the new one in the sun, right?
There's still people to this day that take us.
Look what the Catholics did with their indulgences.
For generations, they told people if you buy an indulgence, it's a ticket out of hell, no matter what you do.
You pay us some money, we'll give you a ticket, you go on that street, heaven, no matter what you do, right?
They made money off rich people doing that.
This guy here thinks, oh, we can purchase the power of the Holy Spirit through money.
And Peter's like, yeah.
Are you kidding me?
He's laying right into Simon, right?
Calling Simon out for exactly what he is, right?
He says, thou hast neither pot nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.
So Peter just puts Simon right in his place here.
And he says, Repent therefore of this wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
So he just chewed Simon out.
Are you kidding me?
You're not going to purchase, you can't purchase the power of the Holy Spirit with money yet.
And he told me your heart is wicked.
It's not in the right place of God.
It's the right sight.
And repent.
He's telling Simon, repent from this.
For I perceive that you in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.
Then answered Simon.
So Simon said to Peter, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which you have spoken come upon me.
So Peter just set Simon straight, right?
And he's scared the heck out of him.
So now Simon's asking him, Could you please pray for the Lord?
Please forgive me.
Because I don't want none of these things you've spoken unto me to happen to me, right?
And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
So I don't know if I say what happened to Simon afterwards, but Peter just called him out because he told me, yeah, you've got a wicked heart.
You can't buy the Lord like this and all that.
It looks like he's repentant.
We don't know.
Maybe he did repent.
But he's like, please pray to the Lord that none of these things happen to me.
So I'm hoping and praying that Simon did end up truly repentant.
Because remember, he studied witchcraft and everything else still.
So, yeah.
And I think, what I think too, and I think Peter called him up for what he was, right?
I think he was just doing this to seek power.
That's all I do.
And again, I'm not judging the man's heart.
Because he was the big cheese in Samaria, doing all his magic things and all that.
People thought he was a god, but he wasn't.
He was doing witchcraft.
So he's seen these guys come along and doing all his miracles.
So he tagged onto them and claimed to be converted.
Tagged on to Philip and then he tried to buy Peter to say, yeah, let me buy some power.
And Peter just called him out for who he was.
So I hope that Simon ended up repenting.
I really do.
So anyway, when they left there, when they testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
And the angel of the Lord spoke unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goes down from Jerusalem into Gaza, which is desert there.
Desert.
No, desert.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
The Lord is the angel of the Lord, so it's told Philip to need to go down into Gaza.
And he arose and went, and behold, a man of Ethiopia, he's an Ethiopian here, an eunuch of great authority under Cadence Queen of the Ethiopians.
So he's a eunuch, which is a figure of authority under the queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of her treasure and had to come to Jerusalem to worship.
So it sounds like he was a treasurer.
That's what today we'd be called a treasurer.
If you're in charge of a treasurer of money, it's the same thing, right?
That's where the word treasurer came from.
Like organizations and we have a US treasurer, you know what I mean?
For the treasury and all that, that's where this comes from.
If you're in charge of a treasurer, you're a treasurer.
In this case today, money, right?
Anyway, he had to come to Jerusalem to worship and was returning.
And sitting in this chariot, read Isaiah the prophet.
So he's sitting in this chariot reading the book of Isaiah.
Then the spirit said unto Philip, Go near and join thyself to the chariot.
And Philip ran to the tomb.
And heard him read the prophet Isaiah and said, understanding as though what I read?
So Philip ran over to the chariot and asked this Ethiopian guy, right?
The treasurer, I'll call him.
Do you understand what you're reading?
You're reading the book of Isaiah, right?
But do you really understand what you're reading?
Right?
And he said, how can I? How can I? Except some man should guide me.
So the Ethiopian treasurer, he's like, well, yeah, he was asked by Philip, do you understand what you're reading?
He goes, well, how can I? Except some man could help me, you know, guide me.
And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
So he's like, could you come out of my chariot and help me in this?
Because I don't understand this, right?
So the place of the scripture which he had read was this.
And this is a quote from Isaiah.
He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb dumbed before the sharer, and opened he not his mouth.
In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away, and who shall declare his generation?
For his life was taken from earth.
So this is the prophecy of Jesus from the book of Isaiah.
And a eunuch, yeah, treasurer, answered Philip and said, I pray thee of whom speaketh the prophet of this, of himself or some other man.
So he's asking Philip, who is he talking about?
Is this you?
Or me?
Or is this somebody else?
And Philip opened his mouth and began, at the same scripture, he read the same scripture to get it to him, right?
And he preached unto him Jesus.
He goes, no, that...
That man that Isaiah prophesies about, that's Jesus.
I'm one of his apostles.
And as they went on their way, they came into a certain water, and the eunuch said, see here is water.
What does hinder me to be baptized?
So there's water, so what do I have to do to be baptized?
So Philip told him, right, if you believe with all your heart that Emmaus and the answer said, yes, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
So this is Philip baptizing this noble treasure for the queen of Ethiopia, right?
And he commanded the chariot to stand still, so they basically stopped the chariot, and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized them.
And when they were to come out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more, and he went on his way rejoicing.
Wow, that's awesome.
So if you get what that's saying, right?
After...
There was a reason, because for them to mention you in the Bible, right, there's a reason for that, right?
So this high noble man, I really think this is how, if you ask me, right, this notable man, this eunuch, again, was a treasurer of the queen of Ethiopia, right?
And I believe this happened here, and that's when, I believe this is part of why Ethiopia became a huge follower of the Christians, you know, Jesus Christ.
I mean, the Ethiopian Bible was long before the Catholic Church.
I mean, this is a theory of mine.
I mean, I think this could be what inspired the teachings of Jesus Christ to go through Ethiopia.
But this is amazing.
So they stopped the chariot and they went down to the water and then we, after Philip baptized them, and when they would come out of the water, soon they came out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took Philip Disappeared.
Right before the eunuch's face, right?
Because he saw him no more and he went on his way rejoicing.
Wow, could you imagine that?
Seeing something like that?
But Philip was found at Azotus and passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.
So, as soon as the Holy Spirit of the Lord took away Philip, right, he ended up putting him over at Azotus.
Hope I pronounced that right.
That's amazing.
So, question is my question here, right?
And if anybody wants to help me out in the chat room, Or the comment section.
Do the comment section if you can.
Because when this premieres, this is not live, but it will premiere as if it's live.
And there's a chat room there.
But if you could put it in the comment section, if you want to help me out with this.
Could this be the very person that helped inspire the faith of Jesus Christ in Ethiopia?
Yeah, that's a good question right there.
So anyway, Philip went on.
So a pretty interesting chapter here.
And again, the Bible mentions names and people for a reason.
So could this eunuchia be, like I said, one of the main people who inspired the Christian view, I'm sorry, the gospel of Jesus Christ, let's say, in Ethiopia, the country?
Again, he was a treasurer of the queen.
So riding the chariot and all that, this guy was a noble person in Ethiopia.
So that remains to be seen.
And yeah, they didn't say his name, but they say he was a eunuch.
So whatever the case, but pretty interesting stuff.
And there'll be further down in the scriptures that we can find that out.
Because if God wants us to know more on that, He'll let us know.
So that would be pretty cool to find out more about that.
But other than that, guys, thank you for joining me for Chapter 8. It's a pretty good chapter.
And if you've got any questions, comments, concerns, anything, put them in the chat room.
I'm sorry, the comment section.
So trust the real plan, guys.
That's the Bible.
And don't take my word and nobody's word for it.
Read it for yourself.
Easy, you know what I mean?
Do this Bible study approach, pray, read the scripture in context, and let the scripture interpret itself, and yeah, read for yourself and let the Holy Spirit work through you.
