TruthRadioShow.com Shalom and welcome to the Dan Bidani Show at TruthRadioShow.com So we are on chapter 4 in this comprehensive study, in-depth study of the book of Luke.
So guys, before we begin, like usual, we want to pray for wisdom and understanding.
This is our Bible study approach.
So we begin with a prayer.
Jesus, he is your Messiah.
We pray to you once again.
Once again, I ask for forgiveness for our sins and trespasses.
To make us pure and holy before the Father.
Father, we come to you before your throne.
Once again asking for your divine intervention, for your wisdom, and to descend the Holy Spirit upon us in our hearts, Lord, to teach us and write the word of your word on our hearts, and write the truth upon us, Lord.
And to help us fully understand your wisdom and your awesome scripture, such as the book of Luke today, and that's chapter 4.
And so guys and we pray for your wisdom and understanding and we pray for everybody here that might be feeling sick.
All right, anything like that.
We pray for everybody's health and understanding and all that in your heavenly name.
Amen.
So guys what we do also is we read the scripture in context.
We don't just read through the Bible.
We read in its context and the context is key and we try to break down and understand what the chapter is about.
So if you miss chapters 1 through 3, Um, please look in the descriptions here of the video or the, I'm sorry, the playlist.
And let the scripture interpret scripture.
Don't lean on your own understanding.
Let the scripture interpret itself.
When you don't understand something, just keep reading, then it'll interpret itself.
And most of all, the Holy Spirit will interpret for you.
Which is awesome!
So let's get, begin guys, and uh, what we left off is chapter 3.
We seen the baptizing, the baptism of Jesus.
And we went through his entire lineage, all the way back to Adam.
John and Jesus' lineage, all the way back to Adam.
So, let's begin with chapter 4 here.
And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.
And being 40 days tempted by the devil.
And in those days he did eat nothing, and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
So, Jesus was instructed to go into the desert, right?
Into the wilderness.
And for 40 days, Satan has tempted him left and right.
I'll give you the kingdoms of the world.
Jump from here and the angels, you know, trying to tempt Jesus.
Jump off a mountain, I'll try to save, you know, they'll save you.
And all that stuff.
Turn this bread into stone, stuff like that.
And, um, the stone into bread, I mean.
Just constantly tempting Jesus.
But he was instructed to for 40 days not to eat nothing or anything like that.
And he was there to withstand all and any temptations from the devil, as we're going to see.
And the devil said, verse 3, And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command the stone that be made to bread.
Because if you're hungry, just make that stone into bread.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written.
Now again, I'm sorry for the redundancy there.
Alright?
In the last three chapters, if you don't know the Old Testament, you can't and won't understand the New.
Because Jesus himself, the apostles, all tell you, it is written.
Reciting the prophecies from the prophets of the Old Testament.
You need to know the Old Testament.
So you can fully understand what they meant.
You know what I mean?
Because they're reciting their words.
But Jesus says, it is written.
He says this, I don't know how many times in the New Testament.
Reciting the Torah and the Old Testament.
But Jesus says, it is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
That Satan's trying to tempt him, hey, if you're hungry, let's just make that stone into bread.
He goes, no, it's written, you shall not live by bread alone, but every word of God.
And the devil, taking him up into a high mountain, showed unto him the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Now, You know, you get this from a lot of Bible scholars, right?
And these, like, uh, blokes out there who go to these conferences, right?
They do seminars.
They got thousands of people in the stadium, right?
And, uh, I forgot the guy's name, whatever the case, but they sit there and pull Bible verses out to say, oh, this is impossible, it's a contradiction, and all that.
You know why they do that for?
And they, yeah, they seem very intelligent, right?
They know the Scriptures!
Because the devil works to them, right?
But the thing is, they don't, you know, they don't know, the difference between knowing the scripture and having the scripture written upon your heart.
Still, they'll go up there and say, oh look at this!
How could this is gonna be, this is stupid, eh?
Because look, he's shown them all the kingdoms of the world from the mountain.
Nobody can see all the kingdoms of the world from the mountain.
And he's right.
They would be exactly right.
Nobody could see all the kingdoms of the world from the mountain.
You could go up to the highest mountain in the world right now.
Even with a telescope.
You will not be able to see every kingdom in this world.
So what's going on here?
You're forgetting one thing.
And these people out there, they forget this.
Or they don't care to mention.
We're not dealing with human beings yet.
We're dealing with spiritual beings.
Satan here, the devil, and Jesus.
These are spiritual beings.
They're not limited by our limitations.
You gotta understand that.
So, this is not fallacy, this is not fairy tale, this is not stupidity or anything like they like to say.
Because they're so set in the mind of mankind, the limitations of mankind, they can't comprehend such things.
But what you need to really break down and understand is these are not human beings, okay?
These are spiritual beings.
And yes, Jesus is in the flesh, but he's the spirit in the flesh, so... So, you, me, and everybody else, if you want a telescope, we could never possibly see... I forgot what mountain it is, so... I think it's, uh... It's in Jerusalem, I believe.
But I forgot the name of the mountain, but regardless, it doesn't matter.
Even Mount Everest or whatever, right?
You could not see all the kingdoms of the world.
Because of human limitations.
Because remember, these are spiritual beings.
They don't have the limitations we do.
So, next time some bloke comes up to you and tells you, hey yeah, yeah, oh look at this, this is stupid, whatever the case, whatever they want to tell you, you go back and tell them, say well, maybe you and I can't do that, but Jesus could.
And Satan.
They're not limited by our standards.
That's what people don't understand.
That's why they can't copy on the Bible.
Because in their mind they have a limitation.
And they think they're smart.
Oh, we know science and all that.
All they do is get a box over their head.
Because they're bound by their science.
All it does is bound you by man's limitations.
That's why when things happen that break science.
Like the paranormal world, right?
They dismiss as paranormal.
Because they can't explain it.
They don't want to bother doing it.
Well, they dismiss it as fake or something.
You know what I mean?
Because they can't explain it.
God is not sent by the woman to man.
Remember when we talked about the impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle?
It's impossible for all of us to understand, right?
But Jesus said later, hey, anything's possible through God.
So please understand that.
Right?
Sorry to spend too much time on that.
But yeah.
You understand that.
Because you're going to have Bible scoffers out there.
Who constantly take things like this.
And they'll use them out of context.
Or just make them sound ridiculous.
But again these are spiritual beings we're talking about.
They don't have our limitations.
So yeah.
And the devil said unto him.
All this power they're getting right now.
Like the devil took Jesus up on a high mountain.
Showed him all the kingdoms of the world in the moment time.
Right?
And the devil said unto him, All this power I will give thee, in the glory of them, for that is delivered unto me, and whoever I will give it to.
So men, remember that Satan is the prince of this world.
Yes, God oversees things.
And he, you know, he only allows Satan to do what is permissible.
But he is the prince of this world until Jesus returns.
That's scripture.
So, yes, he can't offer Jesus all these kingdoms of the world.
And again, he says, So basically he's saying, I'll give you all the kingdoms of the world.
I'll make you rule over all the nations and all the power within, right?
just worship me, and all shall be thine.
So basically, he says, I'll give you all the kings of the world.
I'll make you rule of all the nations and all the power with it, right?
Just worship me, and it will be yours.
In verse 8, he says, Jesus answered him to say, Get behind me, Satan, for it is written, once again, it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only, thou shalt serve.
I'm not going to serve you.
You know, you play it simple.
If Satan appeared to you right now, right?
Or if it anywhere else right now to say, all right, look, I'll make you rule this world right now if you serve me, right?
A lot of people will take it.
But, maybe years ago, when I was young, I didn't know it better.
But right now, I would tell them to go shove it.
Because if you take any of these kingdoms, they're all going to fade away.
Everything's going to turn to dust one day.
All the greatest cars and riches and everything else you could ever desire, right?
It's all going to be eaten by moth and dust someday.
Because you're supposed to store your treasure in heaven, right?
Jesus knew that.
Jesus sits at the right hand.
He knows he's going to go sit at the right hand of God again.
So you think he cares about these kingdoms?
He's going to crud?
They crumble?
He goes, no, yeah, get behind me Satan.
For it is written, you shall worship the Lord thy God and him in thine own holy.
Thou shalt serve.
This goes out to the people in Hollywood and the music business too.
Southern souls.
To get a little bit of fame and be famous and all that.
Yeah.
Where's it get you?
You can't take none of that where you're going.
So no matter what you're tempted with guys.
I don't care what it is.
The deepest, darkest desires, whatever the case, you tell Satan to get behind you.
None of it's worth it, guys.
Especially if you knew what heaven's gonna be, the kingdom of God's gonna be, like, better than anything you could ever imagine this world put together.
So, and he brought him up to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple.
And said unto him, If you be the son of God, cast yourself down from hence.
And now here's Satan saying, oh it is written that he's using it back on Jesus.
For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee.
Cause the prophecy say when the messiah comes the angels will watch over him.
So nobody can go kill him or whatever the case may be.
They'll keep him.
You know, protect him, right?
So, Jesus, you know, like, your word is written, because remember, I'm sorry, you're not Satan.
Now, now, mind you, Satan, demons, and all that, they know the Scriptures, guys.
That's why you have false prophets in the pulpits today.
They know the Scriptures better than most people.
And they use that.
But the thing is, again, there's a difference between knowing the Bible and having it written upon your heart.
You go to any, you know, no Bible academy, no Bible school, no college, or nothing, no university on the planet, could teach the Word of God the way the Holy Spirit can.
None of them could write it upon your heart and ordain you like the Holy Spirit can.
You want to keep that in mind, right?
So, here Satan says, all right, we're at the top of this temple.
Jump off this temple.
And if you're the son of God, yeah, an angel will help you.
Because it's written, your prophecy said that angels will protect you.
And in their hands they shall bear thee up, and at least at the time they'll dash thy foot against the stone.
So you say, yeah, go ahead, jump.
Because it is written, your angels will protect you, and before you even like fall far enough, even before your foot or something even touches a stone, your angels will help you, right?
And Jesus said to them, saying, it is said, there was, again, back Adam, it is written, it is said, talk about the scripture, right?
Thy shall not tempt the Lord thy God.
I'm, you know, I'm not going to tempt my father.
You're trying to make me tempt my father, I'm not going to do it.
Cause he's like, oh look, it is written the angels will protect you.
Yes, they'll protect me, but I'm not going to tempt God to do that.
So it shows you that Satan knows the scriptures too, but he's trying to use that against Jesus.
But Jesus knows, he's a lot smarter than Satan is.
And when the devil had ended the old temptations, he departed from him for a season.
So for a little while, you know what I mean?
He's like, alright, I'm done with this guy.
I can't tempt him.
And Jesus returned in power of the Spirit to Galilee.
And there He went out in fame of Him through all the region about.
So, yeah.
Talk about when He returned, multitudes of people came out.
It was like, almost like a rock star coming out.
You know, people were like all over the place.
Guys, all the stuff He's done.
We explained in Matthew.
Mark the healer and all the stuff He's done to people.
He was very famous.
That's why the priests and the, you know, the scribes and all that could stand Jesus.
And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and as a custom was, he went into the synagogue on Sabbath day and stood up to read.
So Jesus went into the synagogue on Sabbath day to read the scriptures.
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah, Elias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written.
Now mind you, when I said different names, like they're spelled different ways for the same people, this is Elias.
Isaiah is Elias.
But anyway, he opened the book and he found the place where it was written.
Talk about the scriptures, guys.
It's probably the Old Testament and the Torah, you know what I mean?
And the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, he says, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.
Now mind you, this was even before a word was even jotted down for the New Testament.
Let's talk about the Old Testament.
When they said, you need to understand the Old Testament, because Jesus preached the Old Testament.
And he goes, "...the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and to recover the sight to the blind, and set at liberty that are bruised." To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
So he's showing everybody, because they all seen what he did.
They all could see what Jesus could do, right?
Now this is Jesus' affirmation, through the prophecies of the scripture, that he is the one.
That the, you know, Elias prophesies about.
And he closed the book and gave it again to the minister, and sat down, and the eyes of all them that were there in the synagogue were fastened on him.
They were just like, wow, he is the Messiah.
And he began to say unto them, The day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears.
This day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears.
So basically, what I just read to you, the prophecies from Elias I just read to you, they're fulfilled, you're looking at them.
This is right there.
This is the prophecies that Elias gave to him, right?
Generations before Jesus was born, right?
He read it to the people in the synagogue, because everybody knew the prophecies, right?
And it's like, you're looking at that prophecy being fulfilled, you're looking at it right here in the flesh.
"...and all bear him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, that this is the son, Joseph's son." They were like, is this not Joseph's son?
What?
Man, he's the Messiah?
And he said unto them, Ye shall say unto me in this proverb, Physician, heal thyself.
But whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
And he said, Verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.
Which is true, because if you look at our prophets, where they came from, where they originated, right?
Nobody accepted them.
Everywhere else but where they came from.
And Jesus in Nazareth, nobody accepted him in Nazareth, but everywhere else they did.
You know what I mean?
Then he says, But I tell you of truth, many windows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when the great famine was throughout the land.
But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sepurda, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
And many lepers were in Israel at the time of Elias, the prophet.
And none of them was cleansed, save in Naaman or Saria.
So just reaffirming, you know what I mean?
This is what Elias said, alright?
He done this and that and all that.
And this is who I am.
I'm the Messiah that was preached.
But why are you in your receptory?
Mainly talking to the scribes and all that, you know.
So, in all that they were in the synagogue, they were heard of these things were filled with wrath.
So like, damn, these people ticked off.
You know what?
I don't use Joseph's son.
Now you're saying the Messiah?
So he rose up and thrust him out of the city and led him into a bro of the hill where the city was built.
And they might cast him down headlong.
But he passed through the midst of them and went his way.
So they were ready to throw Jesus off this high hill or something.
City where they might cast him head down.
So off this hill, I'm sorry.
They were like, as soon as he said, basically, let me summarize this, right?
Jesus read the prophecies of Isaiah, right?
Elias.
The prophecies of the Messiah, right?
The Son of God.
And then he says, look, this is me.
I am that prophecy that's filled.
It enraged the people in the temple, because they didn't think he was the Messiah.
He was just the son of Joseph.
They were mesmerized, yes, after his words and all that, because of wisdom.
But when he proclaimed to be the Messiah, the Son of God, yeah, they instantly got filled with wrath.
And they were ready to throw him off this hill head first.
But all this chaos going on, Jesus's men just slip away.
And he came down to Capernaum, the city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days.
And they were astonished at his doctrine.
Mind you, the people wanted to do this, guys.
These are the leaders in the synagogue.
You know what I mean?
They wanted to throw him off.
They were always trying to condemn him to kill him.
Which he ended up doing.
And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his words was power.
With power.
And the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, saying, Let us alone!
What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth, that would come to destroy us?
I know that who out there he is, the Holy One of God.
So this guy, it wasn't the man speaking, it was the devil, the demon in him, instantly knew this was Jesus.
It's like, you come to destroy us?
And I got, you know, I'm interested in the book of Matthew.
If you want to know what a demon is, guys, it's a son of the fallen angels called the Nephilim, right?
The Nephilim are the men who are now the giants and whatnot.
So basically, when they were, you know, out of punishment, the fallen angels are not allowed to see their children.
And their children, when they died, they were killed in the flood and also after the flood too.
Their souls are cursed and roam the earth until judgment day.
they don't go to hell they roam the earth into judgment day And after Judgment Day, they're thrown into the lake of fire.
But, you know, when they were on the earth in the flesh, they craved.
They had lustful, you know, pleasures, you know, cravings, I mean, and all that.
Hunger, you know, they were just wild, untamed people.
So, they were, um, in the spirit, they have the same cravings, that's why they're nasty things.
And when they possess people, they do unspeakable things.
But they were cursed to the earth until Judgment Day.
So when they see Jesus, they were afraid.
They go, hold on.
You're not going to cast us into hell, right?
Because we're supposed to be here until Judgment Day, then the lake of fire.
They know that.
They know they're done, you know.
But they thought that Jesus was going to come here to cast them away before their time.
But Jesus told them and rebuked them, saying, hold your peace.
In other words, shut up.
Because they're trying to negotiate with him.
He says, just shut up.
Hold your peace.
That's what that meant back then.
Come out of the man.
Come out of him.
And when the devil had thrown him in the mist, he came out of him and hurt him not.
So the devil right away came out of that guy, the possessed man, and didn't hurt him at all.
And they were all amazed and spake among themselves, saying, In what word is this?
And for what authority and power commanded it to the unclean spirits that come out?
So everybody around just witnessed this whole idea.
They're like, wow!
Instantly, with his command, they came right out.
The demon was afraid.
Everybody knew this guy was possessed.
And, you know, nobody could help them.
They probably got attacked even going near the guy.
But right away, when they see Jesus, they're like deathly afraid.
It's like the one with Legion and Matthew.
Same thing.
Every time Jesus came near a demon, they were frightened of Jesus.
Instantly came out of him.
They didn't even argue with him.
Jesus said, just shut up and get out of him.
Boom.
Just done just like that.
People were just like, wow.
And they just witnessed this whole thing, right?
In verse 37, and the fame of him went out to every place in the country around the boat.
So they went out.
Jesus did this.
It was amazing.
You know what I mean?
So it just spread like wildfire.
And he rose out of the synagogue and entered Simon's house.
And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever.
And they besought him for her.
So yeah, Simon's wife.
Uh, his wife's mother, his mother-in-law, right?
In today's German it's called mother-in-law.
She had a great fever and she was like basically on near death, right?
And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and he left her.
And immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
So imagine you're sick, probably on your deathbed, you're so sick you're about to die, right?
Jesus stood over her, told the fever, leave her now.
Boom!
Instantly!
Boom!
Left her and she felt like a priest on Sunday.
If you want to put it that way, right?
Or she'll be a minister on Saturday, Sabbath.
You get the point, right?
And she got up and started, you know, ministering to them.
Like praising God and everything else.
I would too, you know what I mean?
And I'm sure you would too if you were just like deathly sick and instantly you got cured, you know?
So when the sun was setting, and they all had any sick with Diarrhoea's disease brought him unto him and laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.
So it was just about, you know, right about night time.
People from everywhere, sick people with diseases and all kinds of stuff going on, inflections.
And Jesus went to every one of these people that needed it and laid a hand on them and healed them all.
And devils also came out of many, crying out, saying, Thou art Christ, the Son of God, and rebuking them, suffering them not to speak, for they knew He was Christ.
So they acknowledge Him, and all these people, more people that were possessed.
There was a lot of possessed people.
Even to this day, and people don't even see it, because there is so many people up there that are possessed.
I've seen many myself.
So right away when these possessed people brought to him, they like, you know, they acknowledged Jesus Christ, the Son of God, right?
They tried to talk it out of him.
Gee, every time you said shut up and get out of him, I don't want to hear what you have to say.
Get out of that person.
Boom!
Just like that.
And when it was day, he departed and went to the desert place.
So this has been going on all night.
All night he was healing people.
Casting out demons and all this stuff.
Right?
So when it was day.
The sun came up.
He went and departed to a desert place.
And the people saw him.
They were looking for him.
And came onto him.
And saying to him.
Yeah he should not depart from them.
So they don't want him to leave.
Like to stay with us.
And he said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, for there I am sent.
So I can't just stay here guys.
Thank you so much.
I can't stay here.
I got to go to other cities and help other people.
I mean, would you want Jesus to leave your city?
Your house?
No, of course not.
You know what I mean?
But today him being a spirit, he's within all houses.
He's within all our hearts and everything.
So that's a good thing.
But he was trying to tell them, look, I would love to stay with you guys, but I have to go to other cities.
I have to preach the kingdom of God to other cities.
And they preached it in the synagogues of Galilee.
So simply amazing.
It really is.
