truthradioshow.com And welcome to the Dan Bedani Show on truthradioshow.com We're in this comprehensive in-depth study of the book of Mark chapter 15.
So chapter 14 was an amazing book.
We learned that, you know, when Jesus talked about his crucifixion, he gave specific details of how they would come and get him and everything else, who would betray him.
As we learned that in chapter 14.
So in 15 we're going to see in this chapter here about his crucifixion.
So anyway, what we do guys is we pray for wisdom and understanding because this is our Bible study approach we take.
And sorry to sound redundant, but we have to do this because it's very important that we must do this before we actually study the scripture.
Number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding, so let's do that.
So Heavenly Father, we come to you, Jesus, here's your Messiah.
Lord and Savior, we ask you for forgiveness for our sins and transgressions.
And we come before you, Father, to ask you for divine wisdom to install the Holy Spirit upon us to help us understand and learn your amazing book, the book of Mark, today in chapter 15.
We ask you in your heavenly name and your precious blood, Yeshua Messiah.
Amen.
So what we also do, guys, is we don't just read through the Bible.
We read the Scripture in context.
Because remember, context is key.
And let the Scripture interpret itself.
Let the Holy Spirit work through you.
Don't use your own understanding.
Like the Scripture says, lean not on your own understanding.
But let the Holy Spirit work through you.
The Great Teacher.
So that's it guys, we're at Matthew chapter 15.
So if you've got a Bible guys, please open it up.
So again, chapter 14 we learn Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and it led up to his arrest and everything.
So now...
Jesus is in captivity, right?
So in chapter 15 he says, So the whole day and night, I mean up until the morning, they were consulting different ways to convict Jesus.
with the elders and scribes and the whole council and bound Jesus and carried him away and delivered him to Pilate.
So the whole day and night, I mean up here to the morning, they were consulted in different ways to convict Jesus.
Now, the main thing they convicted Jesus on, right, as we read in chapter 14, is they asked Jesus, Jesus wouldn't answer nothing, okay?
All these people came up with accusations against them.
None could hold the story right or agree with each other.
So they did ask him, are you the son of God?
And he goes, yes I am.
So to them that was blasphemy enough to correct Jesus.
And we learned that Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, right?
And Peter denied Jesus three times.
As Jesus prophesied to him, saying, before the end of the day, you're going to deny me three times before the cock crowed twice.
And that's exactly what happened.
And we learned that as soon as the cock crowed twice, this is the third time that Peter... I keep saying betrayed him.
I'm sorry.
This is the third time Peter denied him, denied Jesus.
And once that cock crowed the second time, he realized, oh my God, Yeah, this is exactly what Jesus said I was going to do.
And therefore, he went away and wept.
So chapter 15, guys.
And straight away in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council.
So they're all sitting there discussing this whole ordeal, right?
And bound Jesus and carried him away and delivered him to Pilate.
So they arrested him, tied him up, and brought him to Pontius Pilate.
Pilate asked him, I'm sorry, asked him, Are thou the king of the Jews?
And he answered unto them, Thou sayest it.
So Pontius Pilate, the head of Rome, asked Jesus, Are you the king of the Jews?
And Jesus says, Thou sayest it.
In other words, yes.
You said it, I am.
You know what I mean?
And a chief priest accused him of many things, but he answered nothing.
And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answereth thou nothing?
Behold, how many things they witness against you?
So he's saying, like, you're not answering nothing, but there's so many accusations and witnesses against you.
But Jesus said, Yet answer nothing.
So Pilate marveled.
So he's like, wow, all right.
And then now the feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomever they desired.
So now the feast is here, right?
The Feast has been done, I'm sorry.
This is the end of the Feast.
The Passover Feast, right?
So now you got two prisoners, right?
Two prisoners, Jesus and this other person.
So Pontius Pilate asked the Jews, which one do you want released?
And the other one was a convicted person, right?
And Jesus didn't really, you know, he didn't really, he did nothing at all.
He was, you know, guiltless, you know?
Then that person's name was Barbaros.
Which laid bond with them.
He had an insurrection with him.
Who had committed murder in the insurrection.
So this is a guy, Barbaros.
Barabas, I'm sorry.
Barabas who rebelled against Punch's pile, right?
This guy went against him.
Tried to overthrow him.
He committed murder in the insurrection.
So this is a murder or somebody broke the law and everything else, right?
Jesus, completely innocent, right?
So Pontius Pilate is asking the Jewish scribes, elders, and priests, Which one do you want me to release?
Barabbas or Jesus?
And the multitude, crying out loud, began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
And Pilate answered them saying, So do you people want me to release the King of Jews to you?
Which is talked about Jesus.
So Pontius Pilate knew what was going on.
He knew the chief priests were trying to do anything they could to convict Jesus.
So this is Pontius Pilate trying to actually defend Jesus.
Because Pontius Pilate knew he did nothing wrong.
However, barbarians tried to overthrow him and he murdered people.
So he figured, hey, the people say we'll release Jesus.
But the chief priests moved the people that they should rather release Barabbas instead of them, you know what I mean, instead of Jesus.
So in other words, the chief priests moved people In other words, they got into their ears and said, Jesus did this and that.
You know, they probably made up a bunch of lies.
So now the people, at first they were for Jesus.
Now they're like, alright, release Barabbas.
So now, Pilate answered, said unto them again, What will ye then shall I do unto him, in whom ye call the king of Jews?
So what do you guys want me to do?
What do you want me to do to him?
And he all cried out, crucify him!
Which is one of Rome's most horrific death sentences.
So, if you can see what's going on here.
Yeah, punches a pile of new darn wool.
Yeah, with the Jews erupting.
The head, you know, the priests and all that.
So, he tried to save Jesus.
He said, alright, I'll let you guys release one person.
There's insurrectionists who kill people, Barabbas, or Jesus, who did nothing.
And of course the chief priests drilled into the minds of everybody around the area, oh, we should just release Barabbas.
So they released a criminal, a murderer, instead of Jesus.
Then Pilate's like, what do you expect me to do with this guy?
You know, you're referring to Jesus, the King of the Jews.
And they cried out, Crucify Him!
Then Pilate said unto them, Why?
What evil has he done?
And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify Him!
Crucify Him!
So you see Pilate defending Jesus.
He says, What has this guy done?
What evil has he done?
And of course they didn't answer him.
They just said, I'll crucify him.
And so Pilate, willingly to content the people, released Barabbas into them and delivered Jesus.
And when they scourged him to be crucified.
Then the soldiers led him away into the hall and called Pratyarim and they called together the whole band.
And they clothed him with purple plaited crowns of thorn and put it upon his head.
So they literally took a crown of thorns and nailed it to his head.
Now, the Book of Matthew gets into a little bit more details about this stuff too.
And they all began to slew him and hail him King of the Jews.
They were mocking him.
That's what they were doing.
They put, you know, instead of a crown of gold, they put a crown of thorns and literally smashed it into his head.
So the thorns are sticking into his skull.
And they are, you know, mocking him, you know, spitting at him and laughing at him, calling him the King of the Jews.
Now again, I don't know if this is meant, but Pilot, right?
In the Book of Matthew gives greater detail.
Pilot, when he released Barabbas, and they all told him to crucify Jesus, Pilot washed his hands.
And he goes, his blood's on you.
Like, I want nothing to do with this.
But he listened to the will of the people, and he goes, I want nothing to do with this.
He's on your hands.
Tell him to the Jewish leaders.
It's your hands.
So, when people say, oh, who killed the Jews?
I mean, I'm sorry, who killed Jesus?
Was it the Jews or the Romans?
Well, actually both of them did.
Because Pilate really didn't have... I mean, he could have stopped that from happening.
However, you know what I mean?
It is written that Jesus had to be killed.
But Pilate wanted nothing to do with it.
He goes, you want him killed?
I washed my hands of this.
He's done nothing wrong.
He actually defended Jesus and gave them a chance to release him.
But they released a criminal murderer, Barabbas.
Anyway, and they clothed him with purple and plaited crowns of thorns and put it on his head.
And they began to slew him and hail the king of the Jews.
And this was out of mockery, not respect.
And they smote him on the head with a reed and spit upon him and bowing their heads worshiping him.
Bowing to the knees, I'm sorry, worshiping.
So this is all out of, um... Just sat, you know, just being mocked.
That's all it was.
And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put on his old clothes on him, and let him out to crucify him.
So they dressed him up in his purple clothes, which are like what a king would wear, right?
To make him look like a king.
Again, it was out of mockery, right?
Then they did all that to him.
It was like a ritual.
That's what that was.
They put Jesus up for this ritual to mock him.
You notice how they put purple on him too?
And when you read the Bible, Revelation talks about the end times.
Yeah, the false church.
And you know, they had to wear scarlet clothing.
And who was that?
The Catholic Church.
And this is where the Catholic Church came from, it was Rome.
A couple hundred years later, Constantine turned the Church of Rome into the Catholic Church.
And they all wore the purple raiment.
See, this is amazing.
Just like when you read this stuff, and you learn later when you read to the Bible, it all connects to each other.
So this was a ritual.
And here's the prophetic stuff of this, right?
And the mockery that the Catholic Church does today, right?
What do they do?
They have, when they do these communions and all that, they have all the bishops and all that wear purple stuff, you know, scarlet clothing.
And when they do the...
You know the rituals there, it's crazy man, it really is.
The consecration, the communion and all that.
It's out of the mockery of Jesus.
They're constantly crucifying Jesus at the cross.
With the Eucharist, and the monstrous and all that.
That's a whole thing all together guys, and we could do a whole show on that.
Which we have in the past, but we could do that again in the future.
But yeah, you can see this right here.
And this is a mock ritual that they were doing.
So, and they compel one Simon of Cyrene, who passed by coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
And they bring him into the place of Galata, which is being interpreted as the place of Skull.
And they gave him to drink wine mingled with mirth, but he received it not.
So they would, you know, they would make him drink wine.
Mingled with mirth about Jesus which we did.
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, cast them lots upon them in whatever man should take.
And it was the third hour and they crucified So, yeah.
And this is when, you know, they get into the details of the book of Matthew.
How they crucified him.
Swipping him and doing all kinds of horrific things to him.
And Jesus was like a bloody pope.
And the superscription of his accusations was written over the king of Jews.
That was written over his head on the cross.
Over his head.
And when Him crucified them, two thieves, and one on His right hand and the other on His left.
So there were three crucifixions that day.
Jesus and two thieves.
And a scripture was fulfilled, which said that He was numbered with transgressions.
So, this is scripture being fulfilled.
As Jesus said many times, as it is written.
He told them exactly how his crucifixion was going to come.
So did the prophets before him.
Elias, Moses, and so on.
And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, oh, they'll destroy the temple and build it in three days.
Just mock them.
Say, oh, I thought you were going to destroy the temple and build it in three days.
Shaking their heads at him, just rallying him, just mocking him, spitting at him, do whatever to him, right?
And they said, save thyself and come down from the cross.
And likewise, also the chief priests mocked him, saying themselves with the scribes, he saved others, himself he cannot save.
So they're sitting there mocking him.
Oh, come down from the cross if you're the son of God.
You can save others, but you can't save yourself?
So let Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, and we will may see and believe that they were crucified and have reviled them.
So then Mark is saying, if you could come down from the cross now, and show us this, and we'll worship you now.
And when the six hours was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
So there was some kind of an eclipse going on.
Now here's the thing, people say, well, why didn't Jesus come down?
Well, you gotta remember, you can't get... Jesus could have easily came down off that cross.
He could have sent a legion of angels come down to destroy all his enemies, right?
He didn't do that, because this had to be fulfilled.
The purpose, the whole purpose of him being born in the flesh, coming into the earth here, was for this very moment.
To be crucified for our sins.
It's horrific, absolutely.
And as much as probably any of us would have went back in time to see this, you know, that human nature would take over and want to try to stop it.
But we couldn't do that because that would be going against prophecy.
Much horrific as this is, this had to be done.
The whole mission of incumbency was for this very moment.
And they said, oh, come off the cross and I'll believe you.
You know what I mean?
The thing is, all the miracles that Jesus already did are ready.
If they didn't believe him then, even if he did come off the cross, they still would have not believed him.
Jesus talked about this all through the scriptures, man.
Yeah, I'm here, you still don't, all the stuff I've done, you don't, you don't believe me?
But a prophet comes and you believe them?
Yeah, it's crazy.
But, you know, of course, Jesus just let it happen.
Because this is his mission.
So before anybody out there mocks Jesus, like, oh, why didn't he do that, that?
Well, guess what?
His purpose was to come to die for us.
He was the final lamb sacrifice of the Passover.
And not a coincidence that this happened right after the Passover either.
And if you remember, the Passover is the sacrifice of the lamb.
To save the people of God from the angel of death over Egypt.
Jesus became that final lamb sacrifice to die for all our sins.
His blood atoned for our sins.
This had to happen.
So, and again, when the 6 hour was here, there was darkness over the whole land until the 9th hour.
So, it sounds like to me there was an eclipse going on.
And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, Mama Shakarta, which is being interpreted as, my God, my God, why has they forsaken me?
So, before people say, oh, why would he accuse God of forsaking him?
Well, here's the thing, Jesus said this, not out of accusing God of forsaking him, no.
Because he was bringing up the Psalms.
Psalms 22, that begins and ends with, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why art thou so far from helping me in the words of the white roaring?
And if we read through it, right?
This is the Psalms of David.
David prophesies this very thing.
He gives full... it's just amazing.
The book, Psalms chapter 22 gives full description of this very thing in the future.
Which is our past now, but I mean like, this is well before Jesus' time.
This is David talking about the crucifixion of the Messiah.
So when Jesus yelled out, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
It's not that the father forsaked him, no.
He was saying, this is prophecy fulfilled.
All has been fulfilled.
That's what he's talking about.
This is Psalms 22.
We're gonna get to that book eventually.
But yeah.
Look at it, it's crazy.
It really is, it's so prophetic.
And boom, right there.
Right then and there, this prophecy was fulfilled.
Prophecy of many, Elijah, Moses, and everybody else.
So next time some Bible scoffer comes at you, oh, why would Jesus say, my God, you have forsaken me?
Well, tell him to go read Psalms chapter 22.
He was just bringing up the Psalms prophecy.
Because Jesus is the bloodline from David.
Once again, this is like amazing.
No other book, no other doctrine in the world does this, guys.
Every chapter, every verse is connected to another.
Through the Old and New Testament.
This is why I explain all the time, you need to know both.
You cannot possibly understand.
Here's the other thing, too.
The last chapter, I brought it up again.
I'm gonna bring it up again here.
How many churches and ministries out there say, oh, don't worry about the Old Testament, right?
Well, guess what?
If you don't know the Old Testament, you're not gonna know the New.
So, if you didn't know the Old Testament, you have no idea knowing that, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
You would think that's just Jesus thinking in the Father's face.
Forsaken, right?
This is why it's important to know Genesis through Revelation.
Not just Matthew through Revelation, Genesis through Revelation.
I'll say it again and I'll say it a thousand more times to come.
Because as much as I say it a million times over, these false ministers out there every day are telling people, oh don't worry about the Old Testament.
Yes, worry about the Old Testament.
Yes, the Old Testament applies to you.
Because if it did, you wouldn't know what he's talking about.
At first, I didn't know what that meant.
I thought, why is he saying that?
We all did.
And if we understood what that meant, it's from Psalms 22.
And some of them that stood by, and when they heard it, and behold, he calls Elias.
Elias?
Elijah?
The prophet that told everybody about this very event happened.
And one ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar and put it on the reed and gave it to him to drink.
century.
Saying, let alone, let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
So now everybody's watching because they know the prosody of Elias, right?
They're saying, alright, the list is fulfilled.
So they're thinking Elias is going to come to spare it and take Jesus off the cross.
And Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the ghost.
So he passed right there.
So right there, that was when it was filled.
That's when Jesus went into the grave.
Which he went into... Now people, you gotta understand.
The grave doesn't mean you sleep.
Your body sleeps, yeah.
Doesn't mean you don't know what's going on in the earth, no.
Absolutely not.
But your soul goes into show.
And it's not just a parable.
With the rich man in Lazarus.
You got Shoal, which is the one side of paradise, I'm sorry.
The other side is hell.
Lazarus in Richmond explains.
It's not just a parable, it's the truth.
So Jesus went into hell to redeem all the souls, that's why he's got the key to hell.
You learn this in Revelation.
Jesus has the key to death and hell because he went there.
Death in the spirit is hell.
Life in the spirit is paradise, then later, heaven.
The kingdom of God, I mean.
Because you gotta understand this, right?
Hell is a temporary place.
Paradise is a temporary place.
So, when Jesus returns, the dead in Christ are gonna rise up, resurrect, and the living are gonna catch up with them, right?
Then the dead in Chri- the dead, I'm sorry, the dead in spirit, which are the ones in hell, the unrighteous people, right?
They're gonna be brought up for judgment.
And they're going to be cast into the lake of fire like the fallen angels.
Satan in hell itself is going to be cast into the lake of fire.
The lake of fire makes hell look like a walking park.
So Jesus went there, okay, to redeem the lost souls before him.
To give those people a chance.
He literally almost emptied out hell.
That was his purpose.
to save the living heaven and go save the people from before him.
Then it was three days later.
You know what I mean?
It's awesome.
Three days and three nights, 72 hours.
So this one right here, it was the beginning of the fulfillment.
And the veil of the temple was rent from twain from top to the bottom.
So the veil of the temple, the roof of it, just like ripped right off from the top to the bottom.
And when Centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he was so cried out and gave up the ghost, he said, truly this man was the son of God. .
So the Centurion and the guy, when the guards there, that were guarding him, seen this all happen, right?
Jesus gave up the ghost and the eclipse happened.
And this guy right here, I think this is the guy who pierced him too, with the spear.
Regardless, whatever, but when the guy's just standing at God, I'm like, he's witnessed this whole thing.
Now, here's the thing too, guys.
The book of Mark leaves this out.
Because the book of Matthew explains it better.
The two guys on the cross, this is amazing.
It's not written in here, but in Matthew it is.
The two thieves on the cross, right?
The two thieves there?
One thief was telling the other one, it's like, hold on, why is Jesus on the cross with us?
He's done nothing wrong.
And he told the other day, we deserve to be here because of our crimes.
He didn't do nothing.
He doesn't deserve to be in this process.
Then he looked at Jesus, right?
He said, Jesus, please remember me when you enter your father's kingdom.
And Jesus looked at him, what did he say to him?
From this day forward, you shall be with me in paradise.
Just like that, the guy received. - Right.
And I know there's a lot of religions out there.
Oh, you gotta do this and you gotta do that.
You gotta do appendices and baptism and all that to be saved and all that.
Well, a bunch of things, right?
Did this guy have time to get off the cross to do all that?
No.
Jesus told him right away, from this day forward you shall be with me in paradise.
Alright, this guy's near death, okay?
He was saved from that point.
Now, I'm not saying baptism is not important, but I'm just saying.
Many people are saved on their deathbed.
And it just shows you the salvation of Jesus.
In verse 40 here, there is also a woman looking off afar from, and among who was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Lester the Joseph, and so on.
So the two Marys were just watching from afar, and who also was in the Galilee, followed him and ministered unto him, and many other women which came up with him to Jerusalem.
And now when the evening was come, because it was preparation, that is the day before the Sabbath.
So, yeah, the day before the Sabbath was preparation.
And Joseph of Arismia, an honored consular, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came and went bullying to Pilate and craved the body of Jesus.
So Joseph wanted the body.
Went to Pontius Pilate and said, hey, listen, I want that body.
I want the body of Jesus.
And Pilate marveled.
And if he were already dead and calling unto him, the centurion, he was asked whether he had been any Been any while dead, right?
So when he knew the centurion, he gave up the body to Joseph.
So he bought fine linen and took him down and wrapped him in the linen and laid him in a sepulchre, which he had shown on a rock, I'm sorry, and rolled upon a stone in the door of the sepulchre.
So, and Mary Magdalene and the mother of Jesus Mary beheld where he was laid.
So, mind you, the centurion, the centurion was sent by Pontius Pilate to guard the tomb to make sure they didn't remove his body.
And also the elders demanded it because, this is explained in the book of Matthew, they demanded a guard to be there because they didn't want them to remove the body in the middle of the night.
They claim he resurrected from the dead.
Because they were trying to shut this whole thing down.
The belief in Jesus and Jesus' movement.
So they sent the guards there basically to stay in God while the body was in there.
Because it was prophesied he would rise in three days and three nights, right?
So guards were sent there to stay there to make sure nobody removed the body.
But as we learn later, the body, it transfigured into the spirit.
And nobody, you know, will remove the body.
Amazing stuff, though.
So guys, thank you for joining us on this chapter here, because it's very important stuff.
And if you notice the difference between Matthew and Mark here, Mark just lays out the bullet points.
And that's why there's more chapters in the book of Matthew, because Matthew gets into a little more detail.
Because you've got to remember, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, it's four different accounts of this stuff going on.
That's why you're going to see the same things written different ways.
And of course there's no contradictions either.
Because it's just... The witness is saying the same thing, but we of course say it in different ways.
As if it's just me, you and a few other people witnessed something.
We would have a different wording for the same thing that went on.
That's pretty amazing, really is.
So yeah, this is such an awesome chapter.
We will be back for chapter 16, which will conclude this series on the Book of Mark.
So guys, please, by all means, trust the plan.
That's the real plan.
It's the Bible.
