TruthRadioShow.com And welcome everybody to the Damp and Donnie Show right here on TruthRadioShow.com We are doing the book of Matthew comprehensive study.
We are now on chapter 27 with just one more to go.
28 chapters in the awesome book of Matthew.
So as we learn in Matthew 27, Matthew 27 is where, I'm sorry, Matthew 26 is where Jesus was betrayed by Judas.
They captured Jesus.
And now Jesus is waiting for trial.
So, we're going to get to this book in a minute here, but before we get going any further, guys, we ask you to join us in prayer.
Pray for wisdom and understanding.
This is our Bible study approach here.
So we ask Jesus to forgive us all our sins and trespasses and abominations or transgressions that we may have committed.
We ask you, Heavenly Father, to make us pure before you and to help give us great wisdom, great understanding through the power of the Holy Spirit that teaches us, Lord.
And we ask you to give us that Holy Spirit as our divine teacher today to help us understand the full context and the full value of your scripture today.
We ask you in your heavenly name, Amen.
And what we do also, guys, is read the scripture in its context.
We don't read, you know, the verse on its own.
We read it in its context, because context is key.
And let the scripture interpret scripture.
Plain and simple.
So like I said, chapter 26, we talk about how Judas betrayed Jesus, and Jesus was taken and captained by the Jewish elders.
So, we start off with chapter 27 here, and so, when the morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus and put him to death.
So what they did was taking counsel, which means Uh, getting together a meeting and say, hey, discuss what we're going to do.
How are we going to put this guy to death?
Right?
That was their plot, right?
Mind you, Jesus committed nothing wrong.
So this is the Jewish elders and the chief priests all got together to say, what do we got to come up with to put Jesus to death?
And they had him bowed and led him away and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Now this is the governor of Rome, right?
Pontius Pilate, right?
So then Judas, remember Judas is the apostle that betrayed Jesus?
Which had betrayed him when he saw that he was condemned.
Talk about Jesus being condemned.
Repented himself and brought again the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests of the elders.
So this is where the guilt killed him.
Instead of just taking the money and running, okay, he went into seeing Jesus condemned, and that's when it really hit him in the heart, you know what I mean?
He was like, oh man, I made a big mistake.
And saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed an innocent blood.
And they said, what is it that to us?
Seize out that.
So you do that?
So in other words, what do you want us to do?
We got him now, what are you gonna, you know, it doesn't matter.
You brought him here, that's it.
We're done with you.
So Judas threw the cast down, the pieces of silver, in the temple and departed and went and hung himself.
So that's how much guilt he repented that he repented means sorry and he wanted to turn away from what he did, you know what I mean?
So, but at this point it was too late.
That's what they were saying.
Yeah, and what is that to us, you know?
To see that they'll do that, whatever.
It's like, in other words, what do you want us to do?
It's too late.
So he threw these pieces of silver down in the temple, departed, and went out and hung himself.
That's how much it killed him.
So anyway, and the chief priest took the silver pieces and said, it is not lawful to put them into the treasury because it is the price of blood.
So basically, blood money.
It's against Jewish laws to use blood money to put into the temple treasury.
And they took counsel and brought with them the potter's field to bury strangers.
So there was a field for sale by a potter.
And that's what is called potter's field, obviously, you know.
And so what they did is they bought the field to bury strangers.
In other words, people that they found dead, whatever the case, that didn't get proper burials, whatever the case, they would just bury them there.
And I see, it says here today, right?
I'm on this, I'm sorry.
Wherefore the field is called the field of the blood unto this day.
Even to this day, as we speak, 2022, we have, in Rhode Island, at least, we have what they call potter's field, you know, potter's cemeteries in Rhode Island.
In other words, there's cemeteries where some of the people are not even known.
People can't afford burials.
They just bury them in there.
So when that was fulfilled, which was spoken by the Jeremy the prophet, because Jeremy the prophet said that Jesus would be brought into captivity.
He would be sacrificed for the sins of the world.
So this is prophecy being fulfilled.
As much as all of us, when we read the rest of this, we're going to either tear up or get angry.
We're like, we should go back in time and save Jesus.
But the thing is, Peter tried to do that.
Remember, you know, in the last chapter, chapter 26, he tried to stop, he cut one of the elders ears off.
And Jesus told him to put that sword away.
Because you would be killed with that sword.
In other words, because they would overpower them.
So Peter was attempting to put himself in harm's way for Jesus' sake.
But Jesus told him, don't do that, because this is fulfilling the prophet of Jeremy.
Prophet Jeremiah, also known as Jeremiah as well.
So saying, that he took the 30 pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom the children of Israel did value.
So I guess during the council, when they went to go, it's like, alright, what are we going to do to get Jesus?
So somebody come up with the idea, it's like alright, he's worth 30 pieces of silver.
Let's offer somebody 30 pieces of silver for the captivity of Jesus.
That was Judas, right?
But this was a prophecy by Jeremiah the prophet.
And gave them up to the potter's field as the Lord appointed me.
So they bought the field for the burial of the dead.
So anyway, and Jesus stood before the governor, that's Pontius Pilate.
And the governor asked him, saying, Are you of the King of the Jews?
And Jesus said unto him, Thou, yes, sayest.
In other words, yes, I am.
He was punched by, Are you the King of the Jews?
He says, yes.
And when he was accused of the chief priest and elders, he answered nothing.
So when the chief priest and elders accused Jesus of things and said, Are you this or that?
Whatever the case, Jesus didn't answer nothing.
Because here's the thing too, Jesus could have answered, right?
So it didn't matter what he said.
That's why he didn't talk.
Because number one, he needed for this prophecy to be fulfilled.
Because he could have probably talked his way out of this.
And to do that, he would have had to lie, which Jesus would have never done.
Okay?
But the best thing to do is just not say nothing, because this prophecy had to be fulfilled.
But Jesus could have told the truth and probably talked his way out of this.
But that's not who he was there for.
He knew he had to be like this, right?
A lot of people don't get that, you know?
So then Pilate said unto him, Here thou art now, many things they witness against you.
In other words, he said, he punched his pile, asked him, said, listen, to Jesus, you don't hear all these things are against you by all these witnesses?
All the elders and scribes and whatever?
You know, the chief priests, I mean?
You don't hear all them, what their testimonies witness against you?
And Jesus answered to him, never a word.
And so much that the governor marveled greatly.
So Jesus didn't say nothing.
Stood there in silence.
Which made Pontius Pilate, you know, marvel like, wow, all right.
And now, that at the feast of the governor, was wont to release onto the people a prisoner whom they would... So, and they had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.
So, this festival here being held, They had two notable prisoners, Jesus and Barabbas.
I hope I don't butcher that name.
Barabbas, right?
So, one of these two, by the vote of the people, would be released.
So, one of these two were going away afraid.
And the other one was going to be sentenced.
So, anyway.
Therefore, when they were gathered together, which is all the people and everybody else over there, the chief priests and the Jews and everything else, right?
Pilate said to them, Whom will ye that I release unto you?
Barabbas or Jesus?
Which is called Christ.
And Christ is the Messiah.
And for he knew that the envy they had delivered him.
Amen.
So they were saying, you know, because of the envy, they wanted Jesus dead.
That's what was going on there.
So when they sat down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man.
Talk about Jesus, right?
Punches Pilate's wife, saying, Don't have nothing to do with that man.
For I have suffered many things in this day, and a dream because of him." Which means, you know, suffer, like we call it today.
That means, I have went through many things, and you know, I had dreams and all that's because of him.
And she's telling Pontius Pilate, don't condemn him to death.
Have nothing to do with it.
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitude, which all the people, remember, he was asking the people, everybody around, Pontius Pilate's asking everybody around here, which one do you want killed?
Jesus or Barabbas?
Well, you know, set free, be Jesus or Barabbas, right?
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas to be free, and destroy Jesus.
So they really got into people's heads everywhere.
So then, the governor answered and said to them, Whither of the twain will ye I release unto you?
Said, They said, Barabbas.
So, which one of the two, he said, will I release unto you people?
Which one shall I set free?
And they all yelled, Barabbas.
So Barabbas was set free.
So Pilate said unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus, which is called Christ?
Notice the second time Pilate said Jesus, which is called Christ.
Right?
In other words, he's acknowledging him as the Messiah.
They also say unto him, Let him be crucified.
So now they got him in captivity and he's like, hey, now what are we doing?
All right.
We set Barabbas free.
Now Jesus is the chosen one to be, took him into prison, right?
Now what are we going to do with him?
And people yelled out, let him be crucified.
Which again, where that came from was the Jewish priest there and all that, that got into the heads of the people in the area.
You know what I mean?
So they're all yelled, crucify him and all that stuff.
And also this is part of prophecy as well.
And the governor said, which is Pontius Pilate, Why?
What evil has he done?
But they cried out more, saying let him be crucified.
And Pontius Pilate said, what did he do?
What bad things did he do?
Because this guy was held blameless, you know what I mean?
He didn't do nothing wrong.
Some people say, well, who killed Jesus?
The Jews or the Romans?
Well, it was the Jews that made sure he got killed.
At the time.
But it's not the point though, you know what I mean?
Like today, it doesn't matter what the point.
But back then, yeah, Pontius Pilate's like, you know, he didn't do nothing.
But, because he was a governor, he had to go by the will of the people.
Much unlike politicians today, that do what they want to do, rather than what the people want, you know?
Like our governor here, you know what I mean?
He does what he wants, he doesn't care what the voters say, you know?
But, you know, this guy here, he had to do what the people wanted.
So when Pilot saw that he could prevail nothing.
In other words, he couldn't do nothing or say nothing to stop this from happening.
But that rather, a tumic was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying... Now mind, you're washing your hands, right?
Back then, when you washed your hands, a tumic was, a tumic, I'm sorry, was made, it was like something to hold water, right?
So he took the water, and washed his hands before the multitude.
So that meant, plain and simple, I'm washing my hands clean of this?
Or is it public to display this?
I am officially washing my hands clean of this.
In other words, if it was up to me, he wouldn't even be prosecuted or crucified.
This is on you.
Because he had to go by what the people wanted, right?
Saying, I am innocent of his blood and of this just person.
See it to be.
So this is a bunch of pilots that are going to a room there saying, I'm innocent.
So I'm going to wash my hands in front of you because I want nothing to do with this.
His wife told him to do that as well.
Then he answered all the people, said, His blood would be on us and on our children.
So the people, yeah, all the people that condemned him, crucified him and all that, they said, alright, fine, let his blood be on us.
And then look at this, they're cursing their own children.
Then you sit there and wonder why the Jews went through a lot of hard times during those ages.
They cursed themselves, and if you know anything about spiritual welfare, yeah, they cursed their generation like that.
Because Pontius Pilate, the governor of Rome, says, I want nothing to do with him, wash my hand of his blood, because he is innocent.
And he acknowledges Jesus twice as a savior.
And he goes, I am innocent of the blood of this just man.
Just man means a person that hasn't committed nothing wrong.
That's what just means.
You're blameless, you're spotless.
In other words, you didn't do nothing wrong.
He's saying, you're condemning an innocent man.
I want nothing to do with him, him and his wife.
And again, they all answer, say, look, the people did.
They said, his blood will be on us.
And that was, you know, the Jewish elders and the high priests and all that.
And then our children.
They brought their children to it.
That's why the next generation, as you notice, was crushed.
Then released the Barabbas onto them.
So he was to say, they set Barabbas free.
And when they had scourged Jesus, that means beat him up.
They beat them.
Snot on him.
And that's an understatement, by the way.
He delivered him to be crucified.
So after they whipped whatever they did to him, man, they delivered him up to be crucified.
And then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into a common hall and gathered unto him and a whole band of soldiers.
So they all got up in the hall, a bunch of soldiers, right?
And yeah, they stripped him of his robe and they put him in scarlet robe.
So I think a scholar robe would be a blasphemer or something like that, which, yeah, we talk about the Catholic Church in the end times of Revelation, the scholar church, whatever the case, but yeah.
Anyway, they stripped him and put him on a scholar robe.
And this is what they were doing.
They were mocking him.
And when they had plaited a crown of thorns, they made a bunch of thorns into a crown, right?
And they put it on his head.
They literally nailed it right into his head.
Thorns sticking to his head.
And the reed of his right hand, and they bowed the knee before him and mocked him saying, hail, king of the Jews.
So they put a crown of thorns on him, took his right hand and bowed before him, calling him the king of the Jews.
And they spit on him and took the reed and smote him with the reed in the head.
So I gotta see what the read is.
What does it read in the Bible?
Sorry, I sometimes wanted to go wrong here too.
What is a cane?
Alright, so a reed was a cane.
It was like a stick.
Dry reeds are canes where used for walking sticks, arrow shafts, pipes, and all that musical instrument.
All right, so they took a pipe, okay, a stick or whatever the case, a club, all right, and they smote him with it in the head.
So they smashed him in the head with it.
In other words, they put the crown of dawns on him, right?
And took a reed and smashed into Jesus' head.
That's what they did.
Nailed the thorns into his head.
And after they mocked him, and they took the robe off from him, and they put his own raiment back on him, and led him away to crucify him.
So this looked like, to me, some kind of ritual being done here.
this could be a whole subject altogether, but they stripped him into a scarlet robe, right?
And they put a, they took the crown of thorns on him, smashed him into him with a stick on his head, right?
They did a bow before him, mocked him, called the king of Jews, right?
And they spit upon him and took the and all that.
So, and after they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him and put his own raiment back on him and led him away to crucify him.
So was this some kind of pagan ritual?
Because Rome at the time was pagan too.
So, was this, what kind of ritual is this?
If anybody knows, put it in the chat room, because that could be something altogether.
Because, you know, that's something weird, you know, why would you put, take his clothes off, put another robe on, do this little ritual, whatever he's doing, then put his clothes back on again, you know, it's kind of weird.
So again, they mocked him and they took the robe off from him and put his own raiment with his clothes back on him and led him away to crucify him.
And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by the name, him they compelled to bear his cross.
So they had him carry Jesus' cross.
And when they got to a place called Galapagos, there was a saying, it's a place of the skull.
That's why every time you see a window, a barrel, whatever the case, you always see skull and bones.
It represents the place of the skull.
Which is Skull and Bones Society too, that's in the occult.
That's why there's a Skull and Bones Society, because it's a mockery of Jesus.
So that was a place where they were going to crucify Jesus.
So, they gave him vinegar to drink, mingle with gout, and he had taste and therefore it would not drink.
I don't know what gout is, but yeah.
So, it's probably something nasty.
But regardless, they gave Jesus, they tried to give Jesus the drink, but he wouldn't do it.
So, and they crucified him.
Now, mind you, Luke, Mark, and John talks more details about this.
It's other details and more descriptions about the same accounts here and we're gonna get into them next, you know after this area's here So they crucified him and parted his garments cast them lots, which means our judgment The risk I'm sorry gamble castle lots means it's a gamble.
You're taking a gamble on something.
Because I read that here.
You know what I mean?
So they're taking a gamble that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet.
They departed my comments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
Because upon him they're taking a gamble, a risk, you know?
And sitting down they watched him there.
And set up over his head his accusations written, this is Jesus the King of the Jews.
That's those letters over Jesus' head.
There you see on the common crosses and all that stuff in the churches, whatever.
This is Jesus, King of the Jews.
So then there were two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand and one on the left hand.
And they had passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads.
Now mind you, when we get to Mark, Luke, and John, it talks about these two thieves.
It doesn't mention it here, but in the next chapters it does.
So the two thieves, and one of them, as we learn, ends up believing in Jesus the last second before his death.
And Jesus tells him, you're going to be with me in paradise from this day forward.
We're gonna get to that when we come to that road there.
But it's very significant.
There's very powerful messages behind that too.
So anyway, he's crucified with two D's.
One on the right and one on the left there.
And they passed by and reviled him.
Wagging their heads.
And saying that he has destroyed the temple and built this in three days.
So people like walking by they pass by him and just looking at him like shaking their heads like this is a guy just said they're gonna destroy that he's gonna destroy the temple and it's gonna be built in three days save thyself if they be the son of God come down from the cross so they're sitting there mocking him.
Likewise also the chief priests mocking him with the scribes and elders said imagine them all standing at Jesus hanging across a bloody pulp right barely alive and they're sitting there mocking him.
The Jewish chief priests and the elders, the scribes, they're all just doing it, right?
And he saved others, himself he cannot save.
You saved other people, but you can't save yourself.
If you be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross and we will believe in him.
Here's the thing, too.
Even if he did come down from the cross, right?
You think for one minute these elders and scribes and priests would believe him?
No.
They would accuse him of being the devil or something.
And Jesus at any second could have come off that cross.
He could have sent a legion of angels down and just smited him, as he mentioned in chapter 26.
Because he told Peter, put your sword away because you don't think I could send a legion of angels?
You know what I mean?
So he could have came off that cross, but this is the prophecy, right?
And they're sitting there mocking him.
Even if he did come off the cross, they would still find fault in him.
So he trusted in God.
Let him deliver him now, if he will have him.
For he said, I am the Son of God.
So they're sitting there mocking him.
Throwing his words in his face and all that.
The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
So I think this means a...
I don't know what that means, actually.
to Jesus.
And I don't know, it sounds like to me that at first they were mocking Jesus, you know what I mean?
Or agreeing with him, whatever the case.
Or they were condemning them, too.
You know, the scribes and all that were condemning the two thieves.
So from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the land, and on to the ninth hour.
So before we get to that, when we get to the other books, We're gonna talk about the two thieves on the cross, right?
So I guess the two thieves, what I'm gathering right here, is at first they thought this guy was a joke or some clown or something.
No, I'm sorry, they thought Jesus was some joke or clown or whatever.
So they're probably thinking the same thing, right?
This guy thinks he's the king of the Jews, son of God, all that stuff.
And, um, yeah.
Because it says, cast the same in the teeth.
That's what I'm gathering at.
But later on, one of the other thieves, you know, they were hanging there for a while.
One of the other thieves, they learned that Jesus didn't do nothing wrong.
They thought Jesus was some kind of criminal or something.
But when they learned afterwards, no, this is a guy who did nothing.
And one of the thieves said, hey, you know what?
We deserve this death.
He doesn't.
He didn't do nothing wrong.
Then he looked over at Jesus and said, Jesus, will you remember me when you went to your father's kingdom?
And Jesus turned to him and said, from this day forward, you shall be with me in paradise.
We're going to get to that in the next book then.
So now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the land and on to the ninth hour.
So about three hours here, it was pure darkness, right?
So that must have scared the heck out of the people there.
And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out loud, with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lam shepoka.
I can't pronounce that right, but yeah.
That is to say, my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Now, here's the thing, right?
You hear this from people all the time.
People who don't understand and know the Bible.
They'll sit there and mock the Bible and say, oh, whoa.
If Jesus was God manifested in the flesh, the Son of God, why would he tell the Father, why have you forsaken me?
Because if you knew what that meant, alright?
He's bringing up the Psalms.
The book of Psalms.
I forgot exactly what verse it is.
Which I do have mocked here, guys, I'm sorry.
So, why has thy forsaken?
Is that Jesus saying, you tell him, the Father, that he's been forsaken?
No.
And so, anytime some, uh, scoffer comes along, somebody that hates the Bible or whatever the case is like, well, he wasn't of God because, uh, why would he say, uh, you, God forsaken him?
He didn't say God forsaken him.
Because if you read in Psalms, right?
Psalms 22 says, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Why art thou so far from helping me in the words of my roaring?
But if you read this in a context, right?
It's not saying what you think it's saying.
It's not doubting God.
He brought that up word for word here.
To remember Psalms, in other words, to tell people what's... As you read through Psalms 22, you understand, wait a minute, that's not what he's talking about.
Yeah, the first verse, I was like, alright, yeah, this is why we didn't read things in context, guys.
And if you read the first verse, yeah.
Yeah, it sounds like, yeah, this guy thinks he's being forsaken by God, right?
And it sounds like Jesus is saying that he's been forsaken by God.
Now, when you read this in its context, you understand now it's not... He's glorifying God.
I know it sounds weird, but you have to read this in its context to understand what I'm talking about.
Read the book of the chapter of Psalms 22.
We're going to get to that eventually, but I'm just saying, for now, after we get done here, go read Psalms 22.
And you're going to completely understand what this means.
And it's not denying God.
It's not doubting God.
Not at all.
So next time some scoffer comes along and says, oh, you know, trying to be a smart butt, right?
Oh yeah, why did Jesus say that then, if he knew the prophecies and all that?
Well, first of all, if you actually read Psalms 22, you would know exactly what he's saying.
This is the importance, guys, right here.
Right here, when Jesus recites the Torah in the Old Testament, and most modern day churches today say, oh, you don't have to, don't worry about the Old Testament.
Well, this is why you got to worry about the Old Testament.
Because most people today that, you know, the 5-1-C-3 churches, the dispensationalist churches that say, oh, just read Matthew through Revelation, don't worry about the Old Testament.
Well, guess what?
People who don't know the Old Testament because they were told not to worry about the Old Testament, they're not going to know what that means.
They're going to think this is some kind of contradiction.
They're going to think this is why people come to conclusions like this.
Because they think the Old Testament is invalid.
Jesus is, once again, how many times has he done this already in the book of Matthew?
Recited the words from the Old Testament.
This is what he's doing again.
And you're not going to understand and know what that means, unless you know the Psalms.
Chapter 22.
Look at this, right?
This is the meaning of it, right?
My God, my God, why have you forsaken?
Why have doubt from helping me?
And from the words of my Lord, right?
He goes on to say the same stuff, right?
And he says, he trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him.
Let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
So if you're reading this context, okay?
This is why context is key, guys.
The context of this is not what you think it is.
It's not him doubting God.
It's not him questioning God at all.
It's trusting in God.
That's why he yelled, my God, my God, why is it forsaken me?
Because he's reciting the Psalms, guys.
How many times again does Jesus say, as it's been written, then he recited what was written.
You wouldn't know any of that if you didn't know the Old Testament, right?
So next time some pastor or some church tell you, don't worry about the Old Testament, tell them, yeah, you need to go back and read the Scriptures.
I don't care who they are.
Verse 47, some of them that stood there, when they heard that, they said, this man called for Elias, which is God, you know.
And in a straight way, one of them ran and took a sponge and filled it up with vinegar and put it on the reed, the stick there, and gave him to drink.
So they had to reach up with a stick and a wet sponge to give him something to drink.
And the rest said, let be, let us see whether Elias will come and save him.
So they said, don't give him nothing to drink.
All right, leave him alone.
Let's see if God will come save him.
So Jesus, when he cried up again with a loud voice, yielded up his ghost.
In other words, he died.
And behold, the veil of the temple was rent with twain from the top to the bottom.
It was ripped in two.
That's what it said.
The veil of the temple was ripped in two, from top to bottom.
And the earthquake, it did quake in a rock's ring.
It was like, it was a massive earthquake going on, right?
And the graves were opened, and many of the bodies of the saints which slept arose.
And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
So many people seen this happen.
Soon as Jesus passed away, right after.
All the graves were open of the people who believed in him and all that stuff, and you know, the saints, the people that God's people, you know, that chose to believe in him.
They came out of the graves after his resurrection.
So this is a talk about afterwards, when Jesus resurrected, I'm sorry.
They went into the holy city and appeared to many.
So Jesus appeared to everybody, many people, after the resurrection.
But now, when the centurion and that, that were with him watching Jesus saw the earthquake and those great things were done, they feared greatly, saying, truly he was the Son of God.
After they seen all the stuff like, whoa, okay, this is the Son of God, all right.
And many women were there, beholden or far off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto them.
So the people, this is good, right?
So all the people that were there, a lot of these people accused Jesus, you know, demanded him to be crucified, right?
They sat around watching him, right?
And when all this happened, right, the earthquake and all this stuff, a lot of them were like, oh my God, that is the Son of God, we were wrong.
So the woman who had followed this whole thing from far off, they came down and started ministering unto the people, to save them.
And yes, God will forgive them, you know what I mean?
And among which Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
And when evening had come, which was the evening, the night time, there came a rich man of Arithma, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple.
And he went to Pontius Pilate and begged for the body of Jesus.
Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
So when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in clean linen cloth, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn down from the rocks, and rolled in great stone at the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
So I guess Joseph bought this nice tomb for him, or whatever the case, or made it, whatever the case, for Jesus to be rested in the body.
And there was Mary Magdalene and other Mary sitting over against the sceptical.
And now the next day, the following day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together at the Pilate.
Now here's the thing too, guys.
Right?
People say, well, Good Friday is the day he resurrected, right?
That's what the Catholic believes is.
I mean, sorry, Good Friday was the day he was crucified, right?
Now, you talk about the next day after the crucifixion, that followed the day of the preparation, which is Oh yeah, I'm sorry guys.
Now the next day, the following day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together.
It's a new teaching for another time, guys.
Because I don't want to goof that up, because that's very significant and important that we know the actual day and time, you know what I mean?
So, don't let this confuse you.
I apologize about that.
We'll get to that some other teaching because I took a book of John and Luke nails that down good.
The exact times with the High Sabbath and all that.
So I don't want to confuse you right now.
So I'll just scratch that right now.
So anyway, now the next day, the following day of this preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came in together to Pilate.
So they all came to Pontius Pilate to go and say, Sir, we remember that the deceiver said, talk about Jesus, right?
Blasphemy of Jesus.
While he was yet alive, three days I will rise again.
So command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day.
In other words, I command that you guard the sepulchre.
That I have troops there, whatever the case, to make sure it's guarded and watched.
And lest his disciples come by night and steal him away and say unto the people, he is risen from the dead, so the last error shall be worse than the first.
So they're saying, like, make sure the tomb is... This is, uh, again... The priests and Pharisees, right?
They're like, make sure the tomb is secured.
Because we don't want, uh, them to steal his body so people won't believe he rose again.
And that's gonna create a bigger problem than we had the first time.
So, Pilate said to them, ye to have a watch.
Go your way, make it sure you can, as you can.
So, in other words, yeah, go for it.
Go watch the tomb, whatever you gotta do, right?
So they went and made a sepulchre sure, sealing the stone and setting the watch.
So they sealed the stone and they made, had people watching.
To make sure nobody stole his body.
Then we get to chapter 28, the final chapter, we learn, yeah, Jesus resurrected, resurrected, I'm sorry, And there's an angel there and everything, that's pretty cool.
And that Jesus, like he said, okay, in here, that he appeared before, you know, when he walked through Galilee, in the city, I'm sorry, went to the Holy City and appeared unto many.
This is after he resurrected, and all the graves ripped open of the just, all the graves of the So that's discussed in the next chapter.
