TruthRadioShow.com And welcome everybody to the Dan McGonaghan Show Right here at TruthRadioShow.com We are now on to Chapter 28 of our Comprehensive Study of the Book of Matthew.
So this has been an amazing book, it really has.
So this chapter here is a very short chapter, so we're going to review some other stuff as well, along with discussing the Book of Matthew, Chapter 28 here.
So, awesome stuff, man.
And before we go any further, guys, we pray once again for wisdom and understanding.
So Jesus, yes, sure, we always like to confess our sins.
I pray to you, Yeshua, Jesus, that you forgive us for our sins, our trespasses, transgressions, or any abominations that any of us may have committed.
And Heavenly Father, we come to you once again to ask you to install the Holy Spirit upon us, the Great Divine Teacher, to help us understand and disseminate your Word, to pull out the truth in all the contexts that you want us to know.
In your heavenly name, Amen.
So what we do also, guys, is read the scripture in context, because context is key.
You've got to understand that.
We've demonstrated several times throughout this Matthew series when people take one single verse and they can make it sound like ten different things, but when you read it in this context, yeah, there's no misinterpretment.
Plain and simple.
Another reason why Jesus talked in parables as well, so you could not possibly misunderstand him.
So, let the Scripture interpret the Scripture.
Don't lean on your, or mine, or anybody else's understanding.
Let the Scripture interpret itself.
It ain't plain and simple.
So, we move on to chapter 27, 28, I'm sorry.
But yeah, chapter 27 was where he was crucified.
And they mocked him and everything else, and they, you know, brought up false witness against him to get him crucified.
And Pontius Pilate, the governor of Rome, he clearly stated, hey, I don't want nothing.
I washed my hands of this.
I want nothing to do with it.
So it was the Jewish priests and the Jewish elders who had him put to death.
So that being said, now this is when Jesus was crucified.
He's in the tomb now at this point, right?
So now chapter 28 of the end of the Sabbath.
And now check this out.
You gotta read this very carefully.
In the end of the Sabbath, right?
It's not the end yet, in the end of it, right?
As it began to dawn, began to dawn on the first day of the week, right?
So it's not necessarily the first day of the week.
The first day of the week is Sunday.
Came Mary Magdalene and other Mary to see Decepticon, right?
Now, because this is very significant, we talk about this a lot, and that's why I postponed when I was going to talk about this in chapter 27.
Jesus on, you know, the so-called Easter Sunday, right?
And this is where a lot of people get the misconception that we honor the Lord's Day on Sunday.
No, the Lord's Day is a Sabbath.
It always has, always will be, right?
Even if this is such a thing, right, that Jesus resurrected on Sunday, it doesn't change the Sabbath.
No way in scripture does it even remotely.
That was a thing by the Catholic Church.
Constantine was the one who changed the Sabbath by his own omission, which was unbiblical.
He had no authority to do that.
So, that being said, Jesus, right?
He resurrected.
He has other proof.
It's not just this yet, right?
He did not resurrect on Sunday.
People always misconstrue this, right?
So again, in the end of the Sabbath, alright, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, right?
It's not necessarily that first day of the week yet, Sunday, right?
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, they came to see the sceptical, right?
And behold, there was a great earthquake.
When they went to the sceptical, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven.
Now mind you, this tomb was sealed.
And I think the earthquake was to break that seal.
And, uh, the door, you know what I mean?
The door, the stone rolled back.
So, anyway, uh, behold there was a great earthquake, just as they got there, and an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came, rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
Alright, so this angel is the one who removed the stone.
And his countenance was lightning, and his raven was snow.
So countenance is like the apparition of God, you know what I mean?
As we read here, What is countenance?
It's like another word for face or more specifically visage.
Meaning facial expression.
The expression appearing on the face of the Lord as he spoke upon his people.
That's what countenance means.
So this angel appeared and rolled the stone back before Mary Magdalene and the other Mary.
And for fear of him, the keepers did shake and became as dead men.
So, the two people at the tomb... Like, they were scared, you know, because there was guards at the tomb, plus Mary Madeline and all that.
They became as dead men, like, wow!
In other words, that's the only way you get to say it, you scared them to death.
It's not that you actually died, you became like dead men, like, you're just paralyzed, you're frozen.
That's saying again.
You know the saying like, I was scared to death.
I want to scare you to death.
Yeah, that's what that means, right?
So not that you actually died.
No, they were just scared, like paralyzed and frozen in fright.
Like, whoa, the keepers, like the guards, the tomb there.
So an angel answered and said to the woman, Fear ye not, for I know ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
So, basically he got the keepers there, Mary Madeline, and they went there.
Big earthquake happened, and this angel came down from heaven, right?
Rolled the stone back, and everybody, all the people that they were there, I think it was like four or five people, stood there in fright.
Scared to death, right?
An angel was told, Mary, the woman, they looked at the woman, not them, It told them, right?
Don't fear, for I know you seek Jesus which was crucified, right?
And he goes, he is not here, for he is risen, he said.
Come see the place where the Lord lays, right?
So now, let's put this in context, right?
We told you he didn't rise on the Sunday, the first day.
Because it's the end of the Sabbath, okay, going toward the first day, right?
Towards the dawn, beginning.
It is beginning to dawn, starting to begin the first day, right?
But this is when he encountered the angel, right?
Right about the first day, right when he was about to return the first day, but the angel told him, he's not here, he's already risen.
So therefore, a lot of people think that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came there, then he rose.
No.
He was already risen before they got there.
Because the angel right there is confirming it.
He said he is not here.
It's not even technically the first day of the week yet.
He said he's not here.
In other words, he's already risen.
He's risen.
He's not here.
As he said, come and see the place where the one laid.
You know what I mean?
So come, look at the place where you laid him, you know?
And go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead and behold he goes before you into Galilee.
There shall you see him, though I have told you.
So this is amazing.
You know, the angel's like, wow.
You know, he comes down and rolls the tomb back.
It's like, yeah, don't be afraid of me.
He's already gone.
So they ran out quickly and departed the sceptical with fear and joy.
And they ran to bring his disciples word.
So run and say, Jesus is alive, he's alive, you know?
And as they went into his disciples, behold, Jesus met them.
Now he was saying, all hail.
And they came and held him by the feet and worshipped him.
And said Jesus unto them, don't be afraid, go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee and there shall they see me.
Right?
So this wasn't a secret thing.
You know what I mean?
Like Jesus, His resurrection wasn't a secret.
Many people see it.
You know what I mean?
So, now they went... Now, when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city.
Some of the watch that people kept watching, right?
To make sure... Some of the watch was the people who got into the tomb and all that, right?
Showed on to the chief priest of all the things that were done.
So they went up to the priest and said, listen, he's alive!
And the angel rolled the tomb back.
This is what the ones who watch, right?
Remember they said the ones who watch were scared to death?
They went into the city and showed on to the chief priests all the things that were done.
They're like, this is what happened.
Angel rolled the tomb back.
His body was gone.
And he told the woman that he's going to be in Galilee.
So right away.
And then when they were assembled, with the elders that had taken counsel.
In other words, they had gathered up together again.
It's like, what are we going to do?
This is bad.
So they counseled together and come up with the idea to give money to the soldiers, saying, say, his disciples came by night and stole him away while we slept.
Coming up with a lie, right?
And this comes to the governor's ears, right?
In other words, if Pontius Pilate hears about this, we will persuade him and secure you.
In other words, so they're saying, well, we're going to tell him that his people, his disciples, stole his body.
So they took the money and did as they were taught.
And this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
And that's true.
To this very day, this is what they say.
Well, his apostles stole his body.
He never resurrected and all that stuff, right?
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
Now mind you, right?
Many people, it wasn't just the apostles, right?
These two people right there, right?
The two guards there?
The watchman?
They seen the angel roll the tomb back, right?
They witnessed it all, right?
They were afraid.
They ran and told the chief priest that, right?
And don't you think the chief priest told them to keep your mouth shut about this?
Now we're gonna come up with a lie because they knew if the people found us out, this is gonna be bigger than the first one.
And it gets into that, right?
So the disciples went away to Galilee and into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Because he's conquered death.
We get more into it as we go through the New Testament, yeah.
More details about the stuff.
He says, So this is the account of Matthew of this happening.
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
So this is the account of Matthew of this happens.
So we're going to get into Luke next.
Luke is the next book we're going to get into that's going to give other descriptions that's going to fill in some of the holes and gaps that you may think there are.
You've got to remember, there's four accounts.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
They're giving their account of what's going on.
You have to read all four books to get the great detail of all that's happening.
Like I said, the men on the crosses.
In the last chapter there, we talked about when Jesus was crucified, the men on the cross, the two guys, the thieves.
The book of Matthew doesn't talk too much about them, you know, one of them telling Jesus to remember him in his father's kingdom.
You know, you don't learn that through the other books there.
But there's other details that go along with this whole witness there.
That's why it's good to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
You know, it's good, great books for all this stuff.
So many people besides the apostles witnessed Jesus in Galilee, walking in the Spirit.
And the next book will tell you in even greater detail about this.
So that's why it's good to know the Bible in its context.
Very important, guys.
Extremely important.
This is a short chapter today.
But yeah, this is like so amazing.
You know what I mean?
It really is.
And this is the book of Matthew.
Yeah, I mean, now he's in the Spirit.
And then we're going to learn about what he tells the apostles.
So, awesome stuff, man.
It really is.
And so, again, right from the get-go, they tried to doubt him.
You know, they were afraid.
They were afraid, okay, that this was gonna blow up quickly.
You know, the chief priest and all that.
So they had to pay all the guards off.
That's crazy, man.
So the, again, now they were going to behold some of them watching, you know, basically some of the people who watched this whole thing happen, right?
Came into the city and showed it to the chief priests, all the things that were done, right?
Again, they were, I want to emphasize this here.
The people that were there guarding and watching the tomb, right?
They came and ran over it to say, oh, this is what happened, right?
Scared the heck out of the chief priests and all that, but they didn't want that.
So they come up in the console, come up with an idea, let's pay the soldiers off to say the body was stolen.
And if the governor was to find out, we're going to tell him, you know, just persuade him that, you know, to the soldier there, just tell the governor that the body was stolen.
And this is something that's preached out to this day by the Jews, by the way.
You know what I mean?
I'm not anti-Jew, I'm not saying, I'm just saying, like, this is, uh, a lot of the messianic movement and all that stuff, they believe that Jesus is not the Messiah.
Which we know Jesus is the Messiah.
You know what I mean?
He's come to life, conquered death.
And we're gonna also learn, too, uh, in the next chapter, so, you know, the next books, how Jesus was in the grave in Sheol for three days and three nights.
He was, uh, he was given a key to the bottomless pit to redeem the lost souls before him.
In other words, practically almost cleared out hell.
Of the good people that were, you know what I mean?
That didn't meet the criteria at the time.
Because you had to sacrifice, you know, blood sacrifice with the animals and all that.
But back then, a lot of people didn't make the cut.
So Jesus went down there to redeem them.
The good people that would accept them, you know?
And to bring them to paradise.
And when I get to that too, The next books we're going to get into a discussion between Paradise and Heaven.
Because a lot of people think everybody goes to Heaven.
But the Bible, Jesus says, Paradise.
You know, you're going to be with me in Paradise until Resurrection.
You know, Paradise is Abraham's bosom, which is discussed with Lazarus and the rich man.
In Shoal, one half is Paradise, the other half is Hell.
You know what I mean?
And the people in Hell stay there until the Judgment.
They're brought up for Judgment, they're cast into the Lake of Fire.
The people in Paradise, they're brought up from the Resurrection.
Then they inherit the Kingdom of God.
You know what I mean?
So, there's a lot of teachings within these books here that are very important.
Spiritual warfare especially, that we need to know.
So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna include this here this chapter in the prior chapter into one consecutive video tomorrow So guys, thank you so much and for joining us for the Book of Matthew series and I can't wait to the mock series now, so it's gonna be pretty cool So again, thank you all for joining us for this series and trust the plan the real plan That's the Holy Bible and don't take nobody's word for it guys.
