TruthRadioShow.com And welcome everybody to The Dan Bedani Show On the Book of Matthew series guys
We're doing a Bible series in-depth study of the Bible So we are in the book of Matthew and today you're not gonna see my wonderful face today guys because I didn't shave I look like a mess But just because I forgot to shave doesn't mean or been lazy to shave doesn't mean I'm too lazy to study the scripture So a comprehensive study of the book of Matthew if you missed chapters 1 through 8 guys It is on our channel here, and we also covered the book of Jude as well
So we got so much to talk about here and now this is such an amazing book I mean, I can't say it enough the book of Matthew it debunks all false religions really does It's a nuclear bomb against false religions secret societies the occult and everything else.
It's such an amazing book So like we say all the time guys, this is a comprehensive study.
So we're not just gonna zip through the book of Matthew here, and the book of Matthew chapter 9 only has about 38 verses, which normally a person could read probably through in a minute or two.
But that's not what we're about today, and because what we do here, guys, is our Bible study approach is number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So let's do this now.
So Heavenly Father, first of all, Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah, please forgive us of our sins and transgressions and our wrongs, and please forgive us and bless us, Lord, And we call upon you, Heavenly Father, to install the Holy Spirit, the Divine Teacher into us, to teach us your wisdom and help disseminate the Word that you're trying to teach us here.
So, and what we do, guys, is again, pray for wisdom and understanding.
We count on the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and our Teacher.
As written in the book of John.
So, what we do here also, we read the scripture in context.
Context is key.
Something most religions, unfortunately, most churches today, don't do.
That's what we're gonna do.
And let the scripture interpret scripture, guys.
And the approach here, we go, don't take somebody else's word for it.
Don't take my word for it, guys.
You need to read this for yourself.
Bottom line.
So that's why I'm encouraging you right now and I'll give you a second.
If not, pause the video.
Go get your Bible or open another tab and click on the Bible.
You know what I mean?
And we'll go right to the book of Matthew here.
And now you can find it in Matthew Chapter 9.
Just type Matthew Chapter 9.
We prefer King James Version or older.
Nothing to do with King James, but King James is an old one.
The Wycliffe Bible, whatever the case.
Geneva Bible, that's good.
So, anyway, we encourage you to open the Bibles, guys.
Because, again, don't take my word, anybody else's word.
We want you to read it for yourself.
And we're going to start off right here.
Now, we left off with Chapter 8, when Jesus confronted a man possessed with many demons.
And he was going around healing people and everything else.
Chapter 9 is very similar to Chapter 8.
Very similar and now it starts right off he entered into a ship and passed over and it came to into his own city.
So where he left off in chapter 9 is that he actually had to jump in the ship to get away from the people there.
So actually let me go back here in the previous chapter and I'll show you where he left off to make sense here.
So And behold, they came to the whole city.
They all came out to meet Jesus.
And when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coast.
Because he just got done casting this demon out.
Nobody could get away.
Nobody could capture these guys.
Nobody could do anything.
These people were possessed by demons.
And Jesus literally, like, He bedazzled everybody.
And just, like, made these demons go away out of these people.
And it scared a lot of people.
So they told him, he's like, yeah.
And it says, they kept them fled and went their ways into the city and told everything.
And that was the people that were rescued from the demons.
And what was befallen to possess them devils.
And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus.
And when they saw Jesus, they besought him, begging him, in other words, that he would depart out of the coast.
So that's exactly what he did.
He departed out of the coast.
And now we move on to the chapter one, chapter nine.
So, and he entered into the ship and passed over.
Over the, you know, the bay there.
And came into his own city now.
And behold, they brought him a man.
So basically, as soon as he got off the boat, he crossed over.
Got off the boat.
And they brought him a man that was sick of palsy.
The same thing in Chapter 8 we learned.
Right away, somebody was sick of palsy.
On the other side of the water.
I guess palsy was a big thing back then.
And so, it's a skin disease.
And the same thing is in chapter 8, over here in chapter 9, on the other side of the water now.
They brought a sick man with palsy, lying on the bed.
And Jesus seen their face and said to the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer.
Thy sins be forgiven thee.
And behold, a certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemous.
So they think this guy is coming at me because they don't know the Savior, you know?
So they think this guy's committing blasphemy.
And Jesus, knowing that thought said, Wherefore, think ye evil in your hearts?
For whether it is easy to say, Thy sins be forgiven, or say, Arise and walk?
But ye may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.
Then said to the sick of the palsy, the man who's sick, Arise and take up your bed and go into the house.
So he just got done addressing the scribes.
And it's funny because they were just saying to themselves, they're talking with themselves.
And Jesus could hear them, their thoughts and everything else, and he just told them, would it be easier to say thy sins be forgiven to thee or to say arise and walk?
So he told the man with the cerebral palsy, because he was laying on his makeshift bed, pick up your bed, arise, and take your bed and go into your house.
And he arose and departed into his house.
And when the multitude saw it, they marveled and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
So they're all glorifying God now, they've just seen this miracle happen.
So this is very similar to the book of chapter 8 we just covered.
So this is very similar to the book of chapter 8 we just covered.
Very similar.
And it came to pass as Jesus sat at meat in the house...
In other words, he came to come to pass, he sat to go eat dinners.
So, and behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and the disciples.
And when the Pharisees saw this, the Pharisees are the traditional Jews.
They saw this and said unto his disciples, Why ye eateth your master with publicans and sinners?
So why is Jesus eating with publicans and sinners?
But when Jesus heard that, he said to them, because the thing is, the Pharisees, it's like, you know, they're going to eat with people of their own, you know what I mean?
Just like their version of righteousness, you know what I mean?
So it just made them like think, oh, what the heck?
I mean, why is this guy eating with publicans and sinners?
But when Jesus heard this, he said to them that they may be whole in need, not a physician, but they are sick.
So, but go and ye learn for what that means.
So basically say, he just kind of read out, that they behold need not a physician, but they are sick.
So they say they're sick, but they don't need a physician.
But go and learn what that means.
He says, I will have mercy and not sacrifice.
For I am not come to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.
So because, you know, in like the way that Jewish traditions were, you had to sacrifice something to be absolved of your sins.
You had to spill the blood of a lamb or something to atone for your sin.
And there's Jesus right there saying, hey, I have mercy and I'm not, I'm not sacrificed.
Okay.
In other words, they don't, they don't need to sacrifice.
I will have mercy on them.
And for I have not come to call the righteous, he says.
Now, I'm not here for the righteous because remember the Pharisees, like, yeah, they're traditional Jews and everything.
They're like, why the heck are you sitting with Republicans and sinners for?
Why?
You know, it makes no sense you should be sitting with believers, right?
No.
Because Jesus says, I am not come to call the righteous.
I'm not here for the righteous.
I'm here to save the sinners.
And, you know, basically you save them from, you know, spiritual death.
But the sinners to repentance.
In other words, the sin is to turn away from their sins.
That's what I'm here for.
And then came to him disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast off?
But thy disciples fast not.
And Jesus said to them, Can the children of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them?
He's talking about him, he's the bridegroom.
And the children of the bridegroom, the disciples.
So I love the way Jesus talked using these like metaphors or these different sayings that so people of all generations could understand him.
And because we know things change over the years, different meanings and words and all that.
So he used these things to, so people, all generations could understand him without misinterpretation.
So he's telling them, As long as I'm here, are you gonna mourn?
You know what I mean?
You're not, you know what I mean?
But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and they shall fast.
No, it's telling them, hey, I'm not gonna be here forever.
You know what I mean?
I'm gonna go back to the father.
And no man, he says, no man puts a piece of new cloth onto an old garment.
For which is put in to fill, up take up the garmoth, and rent is made worse.
So basically you're not gonna put a piece of new cloth, okay, on an old gun.
Because the rest of it is going to crumble, and you got to keep at it.
So it doesn't make sense, you know?
So, and he also goes on to say, and again, I love these parables, I really do.
Neither do men put new wine into old bottles, else the bottles will break and the wine runs out, and bottles perish, but the new put, yeah, sorry, but put, they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
So in other words, This is, to me, this is sounding like a lot of salvation here.
You know what I mean?
It's like, you gotta... be born again.
If you want this new spirit into you, the new life, you gotta be born again.
You gotta... Off with your, not, you know, commit suicide, of course, I'm not saying that.
You gotta do away with the old self, in the spiritual sense.
You know what I mean?
This is why the parables are very important, guys.
And this is why the Bible needs to be read very slow, not skimmed through like a book or a novel or something like that, or a magazine.
This is very important, why we need to take our time with each set of verses in their context, so we can clearly understand them.
And on to verse 18, it says, So as he's speaking to everybody, this ruler comes out of nowhere and says, hey listen, like, my daughter is dead.
even now dead but come and lay your hand upon her and she so she will live and Jesus rose and followed him and showed his disciples so as he's speaking to everybody this rule comes out of nowhere to say listen like my daughter is dead I come for you to lay if you could come lay your hands upon her that she may live so Jesus got up and the disciples and they get up and follow them to the man's house and And behold, on his way there, this is on his way.
And behold, a woman, which was diseased with the issue of blood twelve years, came behind him and touched of the hem of his garment.
And for she said within herself, and now mine within herself, right?
This is amazing stuff.
So if I may touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Again, if I but may touch his garment, I shall be whole.
So she's anxious to touch his garment because she has that much faith, okay?
If I could touch the Savior's garment, I may be made whole again.
That faith, you know what I mean?
And she said it with himself.
But Jesus turned, Jesus heard her.
He turned him about, you know, turned around, and when he saw her, he said, daughter, be of good comfort.
Your faith has made thee whole.
And the woman was made whole from that hour.
So she had to start with himself.
If I could just touch his garment.
If I could just reach out and touch his garment, you know, because she had that much faith in Jesus.
If I could at least just touch his garment there.
And she'll be made whole.
And Jesus, when he passed by, he seen him, and he goes, yeah.
You're made whole now.
That's awesome.
You know what I mean?
And when Jesus came into the house, the ruler's house there, he saw the minstrels and people making noise.
So everybody's around him, you know, probably mourning and everything, all the body and everything else.
And people just like, all kinds of chatter going on, right?
And he said unto them, Give place for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth, and they laughed at him to scorn.
So they said, yeah, right, dude.
He's dead.
She's dead, I mean.
She's dead, dude.
You know, and there were probably some people mocking about, oh, look at this guy.
You know, people mocking, scorning him, all that stuff, right?
Like usual.
But when the people were put forth, he went in and took her by the hand, and the maid rose.
And the famed hero went abroad into all the land.
So now you got people you know you know again there's all kinds of people at this point you know someone laughing crying not laughing but uh you know ridiculing him uh because people you know when somebody dies it's mixed emotions you know what I mean and you plus you get the people out there who like um you know try to be jerks you know what I mean but anyway regardless okay he told him no listen get out of the way went over took him by the hand and the maid rose and just dazzled everybody
So they all went, and because of the fame he's talking about, right?
In other words, like what he just did, went abroad into all the land.
So people went everywhere.
Oh my God!
Jesus healed the man's daughter.
He resurrected her from the dead.
And when Jesus departed, then two blind men followed Him, crying, saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.
And when Jesus was coming to the house, the blind man came to him, and Jesus said to them, Believe ye I am able to do this?
Do you believe I am able to do this?
And they said, yes.
Yes, Lord.
So, you got these two blind men, they're probably walking with sticks or something, no one knows, but, you know, they said, Jesus, Jesus, have mercy on us, please.
And Jesus turned around and said, hang on, do you actually believe that I can do this?
And they say, yes, Lord.
Yes, they do.
Then Jesus touched their eyes, saying, according to your faith, be it unto you.
This is a pure demonstration of faith.
Two things here.
Yeah, I mean, uh, three, I'm sorry.
Uh, you know, you got the, um, the woman deceitous to touch his garment.
He made a hole.
He rose this ruler's daughter from the dead.
Now, two blind guys here, that were just healed, and according to your faith, it would be done unto you.
And their eyes were opened, and Jesus straightly charged them, saying, See that no man knoweth.
But they, when they departed, they, whoops, sorry guys, hate when that happens.
So as they, when they departed out, They spread and brought his fame in all of the country.
And the fame at the time was like, you know, just boasting about it.
You know, you should see what Jesus did.
He healed our blindness.
And everybody in the land knew that these guys are blind.
He healed, look, our eyes are open.
We can see now, you know?
And so as they went out, and behold, they brought him a dumb man possessed with the devil.
So another story, this is like, again, almost a mimic of chapter 8, but different accounts of different people.
And so demon possession is huge back then.
So is the palsy and many other things.
And Jesus is going around healing people left and right.
This is amazing.
And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake.
And the multitudes marveled, saying it was never so seen in Israel.
So what does this mean?
So this man actually is probably somebody that's not too smart to society.
if I put it that way in a nice way, right?
So he's possessed, and Jesus casted the devil out, and the man spoke, and the multitude's marveled, like, oh my God, because the dumb, back then what the dumb meant is, like, that you can't speak.
Yeah, I mean, you're imbecile, basically, plain and simple.
So Jesus casted the devil out.
Now, him being imbecile or dumb is probably from the demons.
We don't even know how long this man was possessed.
So Jesus casted this demon out.
And the multitudes around, everybody around, like, oh my God!
Because they never seen this man talk, ever, this dumb man.
And it was never so seen in Israel.
This has never been done in Israel, ever.
And people were just marveled over this.
But the Pharisees said, he cast out devils to the prince of the devils.
So Jesus went about in all the cities of the village, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
I can only imagine.
I mean, heh.
Yeah, I'm just reading from chapter 8 and 9 here now.
The amount of people just, just these two chapters.
The things that he's doing.
Multitudes of people everywhere just being healed.
Sickness, death, demons, all this stuff going on.
And um, yeah.
That must have took some work to do that.
You know, non-stop.
Multitudes of people just keep coming and coming.
You know what I mean?
And he's out there healing people and everything else.
And uh, freeing them from their sins and all that.
But at the same time, the Pharisees are getting a little bit upset, right?
They're seeing all this stuff, they're watching it go on, and now they think this is blasphemy, and they even accuse Jesus of being of the devil.
We'll get to that some other time.
But when I saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd.
Then he said unto the disciples, The harvest is truly plenteous, but the laborers are few.
So what does this mean?
What is he talking about?
Now, like I just said, by the multitudes.
I don't know if you can comprehend what multitudes means.
It's never-ending.
People, as far as the eye can see, just keep coming and coming and coming, right?
It's like a bunch of sheep with no shepherd, right?
And so they're coming to their shepherd, Jesus.
And then he said to the disciples, So in other words, that's why I love the parable, so you cannot possibly misunderstand us, right?
All these people need to be saved, right?
We need people out there.
This pertains to today, too.
There's more people now than there was back then.
And it's more sinful people out there than it was back then.
Multitudes of people different today than it was back then, right?
And he's saying there's plenty of harvest out there.
In other words, just say you have a farm, right?
You have a farm that's a thousand acres, right?
And you only got two people working that farm?
And you got all the plants up there ripening and all that?
Yeah.
Try to get all those, you know, the fruits out, you know, to put them in the truck to send them off to the stores before they start going bad.
Plenty of, again, harvesters truly planters.
Plenty of them.
But there's only a few laborers.
Teachers, you know what I mean?
In other words, the people need help, but there's only a few out there that bring the word of God.
And he says to them, Okay, this is so big right here.
In other words, he's saying we need more people.
laborers into his harvest.
Okay, this is so big, right?
In other words, he's saying we need more people.
We need to spread the gospel.
And I think it's not too soon after when the disciples started going different ways to bring forth the gospel.
And they had other people too, and to go around preaching the word of God.
You know, we'll get to that later, you know, chapter 10 and so on.
But yeah, this is an amazing chapter, it really is.
So when we get to chapter 10, we'll discuss more of this.
And this is like a continuation.
Again, chapter 8 and 9, this is unbelievable.
Like all the stuff that Jesus has done.
You know, just helping people.
And he's saying we need more people to work this farm.
You know what I mean?
Because you got, you know, the people referred to as the harvest.
You know what I mean?
That's what he's referring to.
The multitudes of people of the harvest, right?
And it's plentiful.
In other words, so many people need to be saved and healed and everything else, right?
But the laborers are only a few.
There's only him and his disciples.
Apostles.
That's it.
And he goes, pray that the Lord of the harvest, that's the Father, That he will send forth laborers into his harvest.
He's telling the disciples that because there's only a few of us.
There's like 12 disciples and him, 13 people.
And maybe a few other people here and there.
But yeah.
It's a handful of people, not even compared to the multitudes.
You know what I mean?
So he said, pray to the Father that we need more people to go out there and spread the gospel.
And we'll get to that stuff in chapter 10 when we cover that next week there.
But guys, this is a very important book, man.
And I can't emphasize this enough how important the book of Matthew is.
I can't.
This is such a powerful book, guys, and we always encourage people to read the Scriptures.
Study the Bible, pray for wisdom and understanding, like we just did.
Read the Scripture in context, and context is key, and let the Scripture interpret Scripture.
And do not take, not even my word, don't take anybody's word for it.
And you always trust in the Bible, guys.
That's the only plan you should be trusting.
You don't trust any plans from men, no plans from our leaders, no plans from anybody but the Holy Scripture, but the Father himself.
This is the only plan that's infallible, 110% dead-on-accurate, that will not be tampered with.
Plain and simple.
