RI BLACKSTONE VALLEY TEA PARTY PART 6
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
- So kind of in this embryonic stage.
And Thursday, is everyone here coming to the rally on Thursday down at the State House from three to six o'clock?
I hope everybody does, 'cause I just got the sausage and pepper guy to say he's gonna show up. - Oh, ooh!
I like the food part.
Yeah, doughboys and all that good stuff.
So it's going to be a lot of fun this year.
And the way I'm looking at the Tax Day Tea Party round every year is being kind of a minor 4th of July.
You know, we've got a big 4th of July.
Maybe now we'll also have a little 4th of July on April 15th every year.
And we're going to start earlier this year organizing it so that we have more food, more entertainment, and more people by advertising and so forth.
So tell everyone to come on April 15th, 3 to 6 o'clock.
Yes, sir.
Yes.
Right.
Yeah.
Yes sir.
Yeah.
Coming in on this evening, from Seth, it's getting real serious.
Does the tea party going to endorse particular candidates who in favor their--?
Yes.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And that's, we're working on candidate vetting.
Excuse me?
Yes.
Yeah.
We're working on candidate vetting.
It's kind of early in the sense that not everyone's declared yet.
But as the primary season accelerates, they'll become more and more clear.
Some people have declared sooner than others.
For example, John Laughlin is running for Patrick Kennedy's old seat.
Other people were trying to wait and see.
But yeah, that vetting is going to be announcing those teams.
Just as an add-on to that, the reason I asked that question, when that time comes and the Kennedy gets endorsed, that local tea party in North Brow, Lincoln, Gunmore, I mean the person has got a mini organization building.
Exactly.
We hope to automate.
Which newcomers need because they absolutely know they're saying, husband and wife, two kids, baby.
They need the strength of the local group to really work with them to make a change.
to make a change.
We need to squeeze every vote out of every district if there's someone that we want to support.
We need everybody to, the reason why we have to start Tea Party groups everywhere all over the state is so that those people in that district can go knock on doors.
We need you to walk the district, knock on doors, hand out flyers, whatever it is that you can do, and get out to vote in that district.
If you have a van and you know some lady needs to ride to the voting booth, go get them and take them to the voting booth.
Because we are such a, historically speaking, such a minority.
We've been rolled over again and again and again for decades in Rhode Island.
And that's only because of apathy.
And also because we didn't know who to vote for or whatever.
So we need to squeeze every vote out of every district possible.
A lot of places are uncontested, which is terrible.
But if there's a contested seat and there's so many goods to support, you have to get out and you have to spend calories.
You've got to make flyers, you've got to donate money, you've got to go knock on doors, whatever.
But you have to invest yourself because it's your life.
And if we're going to make a change here, we're going to get out of this hole, this deep, deep hole that Rhode Island is spiraling down into, you have to get involved.
And, um... Kevin?
I just want to say that.
Yes, go ahead.
I just want to say a few things.
Sure.
I was surprised that all the people who are here tonight are from Lincoln.
Please make them mad, and just kill each other.
That's how the Black Film Alley tea party began last November.
Get to know each other.
Write your name, email address, home address, telephone number you want to share that.
Say hello to each other.
Let one person get that lift.
And then begin to communicate about each other.
And then, when we come to win, lose also.
Please.
Does everyone here want to break up into your talents and get to know each other and start the process?
You guys ready?
The other point is, if anybody knows of any young man or woman who wants to run in that district, let each other know.
People tell me, colleagues, you know, it matters to me.
Because I was the president of New York, and that's what I was invited to.
Many people came to me earlier this morning on Facebook and said, Let me ask you all a question.
I'm running for .
I'm going to have to get information.
Two students in the box.
And they'll get the names of whoever's .
And they're important.
There are a lot of districts that I know there's .
Let me ask you all a question.
How many of you in this room have a computer in your own mind?
Raise them up.
I want to see.
All of you have a computer and you're online?
I know a lot of you here have Facebook.
The only reason why I'm mentioning that is because, you know, Kevin said to spread the word.
And we can do that very quickly online.
You have all these social networking sites.
You've got Facebook.
You've got MySpace.
You've got Twitter.
Which is really beyond my comprehension, because I don't want to be known as a twit.
But there are social networking sites, and we even have our own one for the Rhode Island Tea Party.
As you saw this sign, this is our main site.
RITparty.com.
Get a picture of this one, Dan.
Have another one.
Have another one.
You got it?
Good job, brother.
Now, for those of you who know about our social networking site, it's ritparty.name.com.
The only reason why I'm suggesting you go there is so that you will know who we are online that are also represented in your RIT party.
You can put up a profile.
You can put up pictures of yourself.
You can put up a block, share some thoughts with the rest of the group.
You can also respond to those that you see on the main page.
There are also, there's also a tab where it says groups that you can belong to.
Several of us, Lillian, Kev, Sue, myself, and Ronnie, we belong to several groups.
There's the Northwest group that represents Borough of Forrester, Gloucester, Johnston, those towns there.
The Blackstone Valley is well represented by the towns of the world represented tonight.
There's also the Westerly Pea Party in East Bay.
There are certain groups that, you know, just because you don't live in East Providence, it doesn't mean you can't show your support for them.
And you can do this in a tangible way, too.
And thanks to Ronnie, he's been sending me emails The social networking, the Ning site.
And because of that, I'm made more aware of what's going on just in the state.
And so can you.
So if you want to write this down, or you can come see us later on after the meeting, it's ritparty.ning.com.
You can actually search it.
Could you make sure that contact information like that is on every handout that you're providing?
We will do that, sure.
And before we break up, I just want to re-remind you, On that far table, there are some resources that you really need to take to them before you leave.
Because they're very good at reminding you on a daily basis what you're up against and how you can help fix the system.
There's also that little chart on the world's smallest political quiz.
And like Susan already said, that sheet that David said of all the general assembly members who are part of unions, you need to know who they are.
The districts are well represented on that sheet, and if you're part of that district, you need to let them know you're sick and tired of this.
Uh, Lillian?
Uh, one more point.
Yeah?
There is an excellent flyer in the back.
To the right of me, you'll see on the top of it, it says the reality time of Rosalind T. Crowley.
Read about that, tell me more about it.
Look around the other side and see there are twenty-five committees.
Twenty-five active committees in there.
Thank you very much.
Now, at this time, Kevin has informed me he would like to break up into a lot of hometown groups.
So I'd like to have, like, Lincoln, We're here to be together.
