Hello, it's Howard in London at the Home of the Unexplained.
I realized today that it's been a long time since I sent a message like this one about where we're at with the show and where I'm at.
So I think it's high time I did.
I just wanted to say a few things about it.
The first thing is that I'm really grateful for all of your feedback that keeps coming in.
And we've been reviewing lately a lot of that feedback, not only the emails, but also things that are said elsewhere about the show.
And I realize that, you know, we need to do more to make sure that you're getting the kind of guests that you want to hear on this show.
It's always been a bit of a democracy.
And, you know, I've always taken into account the things that you want.
And wherever possible, when you've made a guest suggestion, I've tried to make it happen.
But I think we have to take everything to the next level now.
And I think that's only fair and only right.
One of the things, of course, that has held me back always has been funding, because this is a free show, and consequently I have to do what are basically low-paying shifts in broadcast radio in order to fund my other activities, which is very boring.
I've talked about it before, but that's how things are.
But having said that, we're going to be rolling out quite soon a new website.
It will be mobile friendly, and hopefully it will be more relevant.
It will take time to develop some of the kinds of content that you would need to put on a site like that.
We'll take financial resources that I don't have at the moment.
But, you know, we're working on that.
But one of the things that it will have is a way for you to suggest guests that you'd like to hear, perhaps more effectively than sending me emails.
I love to get emails suggesting guests, and if you do email with a guest suggestion, just make sure that you put in the subject line guest suggestion so that I can put it in the right place and make sure I keep coming back to it.
That's important. | |
But we will have a place on the new website and possibly on the existing website at some point where you can actually go and file guest suggestions, which will make the whole thing, I think, work an awful lot more smoothly.
That's the aim of the thing.
I know some of you have said recently there have been too many shows about UFOs and space.
And the only thing I can say about that is I take that point on board, but also there's been an awful lot of news lately that we've kind of had to cover about UFOs in space.
And I actually believe, for whatever my view is worth, that we're due for some very big news on all of this fairly soon.
Not only the revelations about that secret US government program that ran for five years or maybe more, and that was released to the public or came out to the public, was revealed to the public just before Christmas.
I think there are more revelations coming out from that.
But I think also there will be other things as well, scientific discoveries that we need to be across.
But having said that, we don't need to neglect the cryptozoology or any of the other things that we do.
You know, I'm hoping to do a show on the psychology of serial killers before long.
We did that years ago, and it was a very successful show.
It was fascinating as a listen.
So, not only can you suggest particular individual guests by name, but also subject areas you'd like to hear covered.
Always grateful to hear that, because you are the most important part of this show.
There is no point in doing it if I'm not giving you exactly what you want here.
You know, it's a small operation.
I want it to get bigger. | |
I always have wanted it to get bigger, but I realize we're going to have to roll things forward, and we're going to have to do that now.
So, when you make a guest suggestion, can you tell me who the person is?
If you know how to contact them, that's going to help too, because I don't have on the podcast teams of people, you know, doing those things for me.
So that's always useful.
And like I say, before very long, Adam Cornwell at Creative Hotspot and myself will come out with a brand new website, a brand new look, and ways for you to interact with the show that you haven't been able to do before.
I've been concentrating for years on delivering shows and haven't thought about all the other stuff, particularly that is so important today.
So this is where we change our thinking.
It's not going to happen tomorrow, but it is going to happen.
And thank you very much for being part of my show and all of this.
I am committed to doing it.
I'm committed to doing it better, more importantly, and I'm committed to doing it with you.
So thanks very much for all that you've done for me and keep listening to The Unexplained.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care. |
