Winning the Fight
00:09:18
|
|
| I think the problem here, peers, is that you think that your opinion matters. | |
| The only proper boxer you thought was Tommy Fury, and he beat you. | |
| Peak Tyson, you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds. | |
| YouTube this, YouTube that, Disney that. | |
| This shit is not a joke. | |
| I'm knocking out the best of the best. | |
| You versus going to the gym. | |
| You're still a fat ass. | |
| I mean, Canelo Alvarez there says that he would potentially kill you. | |
| He's a 5'8 little peon. | |
| People don't realize I'm a real killer. | |
| I really fucking do this shit. | |
| I think you're a great YouTuber, a great influencer. | |
| You can sit there and make up shit, but you actually don't know your facts. | |
| Jake Paul is one of the biggest YouTubers and influencers on the planet. | |
| Is he a serious boxer? | |
| Critics say his record on the ring is undermined by his choice of opponents. | |
| Half of Paul's wins have been against retired MMA fighters, and he's memorably defeated by Tommy Fury, a professional boxer of a similar age. | |
| Saturday's fight may be a chance to start setting that record straight. | |
| Jake Paul will take on former world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., live on the zone. | |
| But before that, both men get to spa with me. | |
| And I'm joined by Julio now. | |
| Julio, welcome to Uncensored. | |
| Yes, yes, I'm ready for the fight. | |
| And I'm super excited. | |
| Let me ask you one question on behalf of the entire planet. | |
| Can you knock Jake Paul out for the world, please? | |
| Yes, of course. | |
| Yes, I'm ready to put him down. | |
| And I'm super ready. | |
| Yes, for answer. | |
| Jake Paul is hugely popular on YouTube. | |
| He's a massive influencer. | |
| But many people in the fight game, in the boxing world, think he's not a proper boxer. | |
| What do you think? | |
| What's your answer? | |
| Do you think Jake Paul is a proper fighter, proper boxer? | |
| I think it's a good fighter. | |
| Not a great fighter. | |
| He tried to be a good one, but if not already a good fighter, so it's okay. | |
| I mean, you've been a champion. | |
| Your father was one of the great iconic champions in boxing. | |
| Do you think Jake Paul is finally going to get his comeuppance on Saturday? | |
| I think for the first time fighting like I fighting a real boxer. | |
| So I want to test him. | |
| And I want to find out if he's good or not. | |
| So I want to find out this early. | |
| What did you think of his fight with Mike Tyson, who was obviously 58 years old? | |
| I think it's a great show, make a lot of money. | |
| And that's it, you know. | |
| Mike is old. | |
| It's not the same. | |
| And that's why it looks like that. | |
| So Jake, take advantage of him. | |
| You think Jake exploited him? | |
| Yeah, of course. | |
| Mike is 58, so I don't know why Jake fighting Mike Tyson, but is. | |
| I don't know. | |
| There were no drug tests for that fight, and there are no drug tests for your fight. | |
| Do you think there should be? | |
| You know, I don't know why that fight told me the anti-doping. | |
| But this fight is thermal. | |
| Bad testing, so he's testing me and him. | |
| So it's different this time. | |
| Julio, you haven't had many fights in the last sort of four years. | |
| Some people say you've been out of the game too long, out of the ring too long in competitive boxing. | |
| What do you say to that? | |
| You know, I stay a little bit inactive, you know, but I'm stay training every day, you know, sparring, be ready. | |
| So inactivities is a reality, but at the same time, I never stopped training. | |
| So I always training, I always stay ready. | |
| And I think this is the difference. | |
| I mean, your last fight, you lost to an MMA fighter, which wasn't great, was it? | |
| I mean, people say that was a bit embarrassing. | |
| How did you feel? | |
| You know, I have 20 years in boxing, so I'm trying to put my best all the fights, but some fights, you know, it's not excuse, but I'm not in my best performance. | |
| So that's what happened. | |
| And every single fight is different. | |
| So I'm super ready for this fight. | |
| And it's different. | |
| You know, it's totally different. | |
| Anderson Silver, who beat you then, obviously he is one of the great MMA fighters, but Jake Paul is not. | |
| And boxers like Tony Bellew have said this about you. | |
| He will be embarrassing real fighters if he loses. | |
| He carries an absolute icon's name. | |
| He no longer loves or lives the game. | |
| And that's why he lost to the likes of Anderson Silver. | |
| What do you say to people like Tony Bellie? | |
| So, you know, wait, wait for this Saturday. | |
| You know, everything changed. | |
| You know, I'm ready and I want to win this fight. | |
| That's for sure. | |
| You know, I'm much better than Jake Paul and I'm better for super focused. | |
| So this time is very different than before. | |
| Do you think there's any way you can lose? | |
| No, I'll see. | |
| Anyway, Jake can beat me. | |
| I'm much better than him. | |
| If you do lose, would you retire from boxing? | |
| Yes. | |
| So, you know, I'm much better than him. | |
| So I don't want to think in retirement and loss. | |
| So I'm for sure want to win the fight. | |
| I'm better than him. | |
| And I put everything in his place. | |
| So what is it, Julio? | |
| What is it like for you to be the son of one of the greatest boxers in history? | |
| For me, it's great. | |
| You know, it's great because changed my life, you know, sport of boxing. | |
| I love sport of boxing. | |
| So it's all good about being the son of one of the greatest fighters ever. | |
| Of course, it's not good that comparisons, you're like, my dad is great, but I feel great. | |
| I feel proud about my dad. | |
| Of course, it's difficult for me, for me, because every time people want to compare with my dad, but I'm super happy. | |
| It's one of the things why I have this opportunity. | |
| I win the world title and 160. | |
| So I'm a good fighter. | |
| So you can see my fights. | |
| You can see all my fights. | |
| And all my fights are action fights. | |
| good fights. | |
| You know, I fight the best opposition, the bad fighters for 15 years. | |
| So I'm ready and it's a great opportunity for me. | |
| Not only the fight, you know, because the fight is good, but the opportunity is to take advantage of the inexperience of J. Paul and win the fight. | |
| I just interviewed Canelo Alvarez with Terence Crawford. | |
| They've got a big fight, obviously, in September in Las Vegas. | |
| Canelo believes if he wins that fight, he is the greatest fighter in Mexico history. | |
| Many people think your father is the greatest fighter in Mexico history. | |
| What do you think? | |
| I think. | |
| Because you fought Canelo. | |
|
Canelo vs. Mexican Legend
00:08:16
|
|
| You did 12 rounds with him. | |
| I still think thinking that my dad is the best Mexican fighter ever. | |
| You know why? | |
| Because Canelo is a great fighter. | |
| It's not doubt. | |
| But the old warriors, the old fighters is fight the best opposition, fighting the best with the best. | |
| So that thing is not happening no more in boxing. | |
| Good champions today pick more his opponents. | |
| So that's that small thing make the difference. | |
| You know, I think that the old fighters are better than today fighters. | |
| Finally, Julio, how much money are you being paid for this fight? | |
| A couple millions. | |
| A couple of millions. | |
| A couple of million. | |
| And if you knock out Jake Paul, you become a global legend. | |
| That's not a bad deal. | |
| That's the business. | |
| Knock out Jay Paul. | |
| And, you know, next fight. | |
| You know, everybody's be happy. | |
| Saturday. | |
| Give me the round. | |
| Which round are you going to knock him out? | |
| Which round? | |
| I paid him nine. | |
| Nine, okay. | |
| So the ninth round, you knock him out. | |
| And knock out last rounds. | |
| Well, I think you become very popular if you do. | |
| Julio, best of luck to you. | |
| Thank you very much for joining me. | |
| Thank you. | |
| And I'm now joined by his opponent, Jake Paul. | |
| Jake, how are you? | |

| Just chilling, man. | |
| How are you? | |
| Some blatant cultural appropriation going on with your massive hat there. | |
| I'm the greatest Mexican fighter of all time. | |
| I don't know what you're talking about. | |
| So I just interviewed your opponent, Julio. | |
| Very confident. | |
| Says he's going to knock you out in the ninth round. | |
| Yeah, man. | |
| You know, he's a dumbass. | |
| And so it's going to be apparent on Saturday when he's the one that gets knocked out. | |
| I mean, genuinely, fighters always say this. | |
| There's the back and forth, but Piers, I'm being so honest, man. | |
| This guy is easy work. | |
| I mean, you say that. | |
| Your last fight was with Mike Tyson, who's now 58 years old. | |
| Many people sort of mocked that and wrote it off as a bit of a joke. | |
| I interviewed actually Canelo Alvarez recently. | |
| He was very scathing about it. | |
| I've got a clip actually. | |
| Let's just listen to this. | |
| How lucky is Jake Paul that this fight is happening and you're not going to get in a ring with him? | |
| Oh, he's very lucky. | |
| I can't even think of what would happen to that guy if he got in the ring with you. | |
| I mean, you probably could have killed him. | |
| Could be. | |
| I mean, you're probably not even joking, right? | |
| I mean, no, I'm not joking. | |
| When I'm establishing the ring, I'm not joking. | |
| No. | |
| Do you like those sort of fights? | |
| I mean, when you see Mike Tyson get back in the ring at my age. | |
| No, I hate that. | |
| Seeing him doing that kind of stuff, I feel sad as a fighter. | |
| This guy, Jake Paul, no, no disrespect against him. | |
| I ain't got nothing against him, but can walk around today for the rest of his life to say, I'm being Iron Mike Tyson. | |
| Yeah. | |
| And it's on my record. | |
| That's just heartbreaking. | |
| It's sickening, actually. | |
| Yeah. | |
| So, Jake, not a lot of love in the room for your Tyson fight. | |
| You guys got all your panties in a wad. | |
| Also, butthurt. | |
| You guys should go see a therapist, all three of you. | |
| Did you think it was really an edifying spectacle? | |
| I mean, I love Mike Tyson. | |
| He was one of the best I've ever seen. | |
| Entertainment, man. | |
| If Mike Tyson wants to fight you, of course you're going to say, yes, he walked away with tens of millions of dollars to support his family for the rest of their lives. | |
| And we've made the biggest fight in history. | |
| So 128 million people would disagree with you that it wasn't something amazing. | |
| I mean, Canelo Alvarez there says that he would potentially kill you if you got in the ring with him. | |
| He's a 5'8 little peon. | |
| If we were in the streets, I would grab that little ginger and smack him upside the head and make him forget who the fuck he was. | |
| People don't realize I'm a real killer. | |
| I really fucking do this shit. | |
| YouTube this, YouTube that, Disney that. | |
| This shit is not a joke. | |
| I'm knocking out the best of the best, beating all of these people time in and time again. | |
| And it's about time that you old heads and all these fucking boxers who think they know about the sport put some respect on my name. | |
| Yeah, but you're not going to get, look, you're going to make a ton of money. | |
| Listen, I think as a businessman, you are brilliant, right? | |
| I give you full credit for that. | |
| When you took on Mike Tyson as a business enterprise, there's no argument. | |
| You absolutely crushed the numbers, crushed the money and everything else. | |
| But the idea that you can say on the one hand, I'm a killer. | |
| I get in the ring with the best people. | |
| And you get in the ring with a guy who's 50. | |
| He's literally nearly as old as me. | |
| I'm not talking about Mike Tyson. | |
| I'm talking about Anderson Silva, Tyrone Woodley, champions in their sport, Golden Gloves champions, Ryan Morland, Andre August, undefeated fighters. | |
| The list goes on and on. | |
| Former world champion on Saturday, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, besides me, of course. | |
| Like, I don't know what you guys want to see. | |
| I tried to fight Canelo. | |
| He ducked out of it. | |
| You asked him about that. | |
| You said he's going to kill me. | |
| So what do you want? | |
| You're laughing when you say, oh, Jake, Jake is going to fight Canelo. | |
| I think you would kill him. | |
| But then you're like, oh, you're not fighting this guy. | |
| You're the problem here with this whole situation and criticism of my career. | |
| I'm trying to fight the best people. | |
| And that's why Chavez is here on Saturday. | |
| I want Canelo. | |
| I want Anthony Joshua. | |
| I want all these people. | |
| It's been five years in this sport. | |
| But the problem is, the only proper boxer you fought was Tommy Fury, and he beat you. | |
| And he's not even the best fighter in his fight. | |
| Golden Gloves champion Andre August, Brian Borland as well. | |
| Anderson Silva was an undefeated boxer. | |
| I mean, you can sit there and make up shit, but you actually don't know your facts. | |
| I've fought multiple boxers with professional records and including Mike Tyson himself, who I think is going to be a harder fight than Chavez. | |
| Yeah, but Tyson, Pete Tyson, you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds. | |
| That's what you think. | |
| That's what you think. | |
| I know that. | |
| You know that too. | |
| No, you don't. | |
| No, you don't. | |
| You don't actually know that. | |
| You can't sit there and say that. | |
| You think you'd have beaten Pete Mike Tyson? | |
| Hey, back in, I think anything is possible. | |
| That's why self-belief is the most powerful thing in the world. | |
| You would have had two hopes. | |
| No disrespect. | |
| Jay, no disrespect. | |
| That's what I wanted to do. | |
| You would have had two hopes of beating Mike Tyson. | |
| You'd have had two hopes of Anthony Joshua as well. | |
| You against Mike Tyson. | |
| You'd have had two hopes. | |
| No hope, Bob Hope. | |
| And you versus going to the gym, you're still a fat ass. | |
| Actually, I'm just going to do that. | |
| I've been in the gym the last two days. | |
| We can make up hypotheticals. | |
| You should go to the gym. | |
| Oh, if you went to the gym, you would. | |
| I've been twice this week. | |
|
Self-Belief in Boxing
00:01:32
|
|
| Okay. | |
| Well, this is what we're talking about. | |
| Like, I admire your work. | |
| I admire your work. | |
| I don't think I can beat Mike Tyson. | |
| I don't think you go to the gym. | |
| Okay. | |
| Well, I do go to the gym and there's actual photographic evidence. | |
| But here's my point to you. | |
| I think you're a great YouTuber, a great influencer. | |
| I admire what you try to do in boxing. | |
| But I do think when you actually come up against a proper serious boxer, and I suspect that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. may be that person, it could all come crashing down. | |
| Is that you think that your opinion matters? | |
| Well, why are you doing my show if it doesn't? | |
| Oh, I'm just taking your audience to sell pay-per-views. | |
| I don't give a fuck about you. | |
| Dumbass. | |
| This is a fucking business enterprise. | |
| Buy the pay-per-view on Saturday, June 28th. | |
| Me versus Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. | |
| Thank you. | |
| Tune in, everybody. | |
| Cheers, Jay. | |
| Really enjoyed that. | |
| And good luck to Julio. | |
| Knock him out for all of us, Willie. | |
