The Trish Regan Show - MSNBC Crisis! Jen Psaki Being Replaced by Rachel Maddow Ahead of Comcast Spinoff?? Aired: 2025-06-19 Duration: 08:30 === Cable Crisis and Tanking Ratings (07:01) === [00:00:00] YouTube dominating, cable dominating, legacy media. [00:00:03] The news just coming out today, four months straight in a row now, they have taken over this space. [00:00:09] And this has turned into a crisis at MSNBC because you see MSNBC is spinning off into that fancy Versant company. [00:00:17] It used to be called Spinco, but you know, they need a little more panache. [00:00:20] So they went with Versant and that's going to be spun off. [00:00:23] And nobody really knows what's going to happen. [00:00:26] You see they have all of their cable entities that they're spinning off. [00:00:30] And some of them do better than others. [00:00:32] CNBC, my former employer, does actually an excellent job. [00:00:36] I will credit them with that. [00:00:37] I mean, they have their own biases too. [00:00:38] It's partly why I started 76 Research. [00:00:40] But in the scheme of things, I think the business media tends to be a little bit more fair. [00:00:45] They have to be, right? [00:00:46] Because there's money on the line. [00:00:47] MSNBC is a whole other thing entirely. [00:00:50] And now they're realizing they can't make a go of it because they've got really bad ratings Tuesday through Friday night. [00:00:57] Not very good on Mondays either with one Rachel Maddow coming in for a guest appearance on Monday night. [00:01:03] And I I'll tell you, it's no surprise. [00:01:06] You know why it's no surprise to me? [00:01:08] Because I think they got caught lying. [00:01:11] That's the thing. [00:01:13] And in this brave new world where YouTube is taking over, people appreciate authenticity and they appreciate what's real and they don't want to be lied to. [00:01:22] And so you know here on this show, I mean, sometimes I can be a little too opinionated. [00:01:27] I get it. [00:01:28] Maybe a little too opinionated for some. [00:01:30] I mean, hey, when you're too opinionated for Fox, you'll learn pretty quick that you got an opinion. [00:01:35] But it's better this way, I think. [00:01:38] owning my own content, being here with you so directly is very empowering and very exciting. [00:01:45] But when you look over there at some of these cable channels, I don't know what the future is because they've been so badly lying. [00:01:52] I mean, think about poor Biden. [00:01:54] Remember when he was falling asleep with reporters? [00:01:57] Now they're doing an investigation into the auto pen to see if there was any shady stuff going on. [00:02:01] Well, MSNBC wouldn't tell you the truth here. [00:02:07] I mean, you wonder. [00:02:08] I'll start your questions. [00:02:09] I'll get in trouble. [00:02:10] He said, Don't start the questions. [00:02:12] I'll get in trouble. [00:02:13] You wonder why YouTube has taken over for legacy media. [00:02:16] It's because the legacy media was looking at video that was coming into them. [00:02:19] They see the same live feeds that I do, and they wanted to tell you he was perfectly fine. [00:02:23] In fact, I do remember, I do remember the signature host that's going to like live forever, right? [00:02:30] On MSNBC in the mornings, Morning Joe saying, this is the best Biden ever. [00:02:34] I'm sorry, if that's the best Biden ever, I don't know. [00:02:38] I don't even know what to tell you. [00:02:40] I mean, or think about LaMonica MacGyver facing up to 17 years for that little incident there. [00:02:46] over in Newark, New Jersey, where she's caught pushing everyone and somehow they're on La Monica's side. [00:02:54] You know I had to say it. [00:02:59] Unbelievable. [00:03:15] Slowed down just so you can really see it. [00:03:19] There she is in all her glory, making a run at those ice agents. [00:03:24] Okay, so they wanted you to think that this was somehow not at all wrong for her to do that. [00:03:29] And you wonder why their ratings are tanking. [00:03:31] I'm sorry, but you know, she's out there with one Jen Saki, who can't even do as well as Rachel Maddow. [00:03:37] And Saki's like, I totally agree. [00:03:39] You know, Alina Haba had no business charging you for any of that. [00:03:42] Listen. [00:03:43] I think there are so many other important things for. [00:03:45] Alina to be focused on that she should be focused on rather than trying to stop, you know, Congress members from doing their jobs. [00:03:52] No question about it. [00:03:53] Lots happening in every state. [00:03:55] No question about it. [00:03:56] And the woman's now facing up to 17 years. [00:03:58] Like, how is that ever a good thing? [00:04:01] Alina Haba hitting her with violating Title 18, U.S. Code Section 111, A14, assaulting, impeding, interfering with law enforcement. [00:04:09] I have a feeling a lot of people, like that guy, Lander, right, who wants to be the next mayor of New York, is going to get hit with impeding and interfering with law enforcement. [00:04:17] So you wonder why these ratings are down. [00:04:19] You wonder why they're in a crisis. [00:04:20] You wonder why they don't know what to do with the likes of us YouTubers over here that are giving you a little bit more spice and a little bit more personality, right? [00:04:30] In the news where we actually own our opinions. [00:04:33] I'm telling you, MSNBC, here is my advice today. [00:04:37] You need to hire, I'm being facetious, more people that look just like Rachel. [00:04:43] I mean, what the heck are you doing with a redhead in prime time? [00:04:47] I'm seeing a candidate coming up through the ranks. [00:04:51] He, she, I think it's he. [00:04:53] Sometimes it's a little confusing, right? [00:04:54] You know, Chris Hayes. [00:04:55] I nearly said Chris Maddow. [00:04:58] You see? [00:04:59] You see? [00:05:00] Right? [00:05:00] They all kind of look alike. [00:05:01] They're like little carbon copies of each other, and I found one. [00:05:04] The bosses at MSNBC are watching this guy. [00:05:08] Jens Hackie, run for it. [00:05:10] Or squash him. [00:05:14] However, you political people handle things like that. [00:05:16] The big picture is Los Angeles is a so called majority minority city in a majority minority state. [00:05:23] There are more people of color that live in Los Angeles than white people at this point. [00:05:28] And many of those people are undocumented. [00:05:29] By some counts, 10% of the population of LA County, one of the largest counties, the largest county by population in the United States, is undocumented, maybe as many as a million people. [00:05:39] Those people are our neighbors, our coworkers, our classmates, our friends, our parishioners, fellow parishioners in churches. [00:05:48] They are part of the fabric of the city of Los Angeles. [00:05:51] So here's the thing their ratings are in the tank. [00:05:58] They can't actually figure out how to navigate this new position, right? [00:06:02] Joe and Mika are trying, hence the visit to Mar-a-Lago. [00:06:07] And their viewers said, bye-bye. [00:06:08] You know, they were right with Rosie. [00:06:10] We don't want anything to do with you if you're going to be on Trump's side or like try and present something kind of in the middle. [00:06:15] And the rest of the viewers are like, wait a second, you lied. [00:06:17] And you're still lying. [00:06:19] And by the way, you put a Reddit in, in prime time. [00:06:23] What was that? [00:06:24] I'm telling you, watch that guy, okay? [00:06:27] Watch, watch, watch, because they like clone him over there. [00:06:30] And if you look like Rachel and sound like Rachel, you might just have a future. [00:06:34] This one, oh, poor Peppermint Patty. [00:06:37] One Jen Saki is not good on television, has no personality, is an excellent liar, and is looking at sinking ratings. [00:06:47] She's at 971,000 viewers. [00:06:49] Over the last month, down from Rachel's nearly 2 million earned through 2025, a 47 drop according to the ratings that were out in may. [00:06:58] So that's not looking good. [00:07:00] But you know what? [00:07:00] They shouldn't be surprised. === Unsurprisingly Lacking Talent (01:28) === [00:07:02] They really shouldn't be surprised because, i'm sorry, she's not talented, she's just not. [00:07:07] I mean Rachel, she's not my cup of tea, but the, the woman, does have talent. [00:07:12] Okay, i'm gonna tell you that, even when you you may say I can't stand her, I don't like her, she does have talent. [00:07:18] She's got the je ne sais quoi. [00:07:19] She takes you down some crazy rabbit hole. [00:07:21] I mean, I used to think conspiracy theory on steroids. [00:07:24] For goodness sakes, you guys look at us and think that we're the conspiracy theorists. [00:07:27] She's the one with the Russia Russia, Russia rabbit hole non-stop. [00:07:30] She did an excellent job with that conspiracy theory. [00:07:33] That never turned out to be true. [00:07:34] And, by the way, did she ever find Trump's taxes right? [00:07:36] All of this stuff that she kept you going on, day in, day out, constantly on the edge of your seat waiting and, of course, none of it happened. [00:07:46] None of it materialized, but she presented a good little story along the way. [00:07:49] So, even with the short hair and the glasses, you know what it worked for her. [00:07:53] Jen's sake, does not have that. [00:07:55] I'm just saying it like it is, okay? [00:07:57] So MSNBC is going to continue to struggle. [00:08:00] Their ratings are going to continue to dive. [00:08:02] And my prediction is at some point they move Jens Hockey into the contributor role and Rachel comes back, ladies and gentlemen, with a bang. [00:08:12] I know you don't like that, but if I were in charge, if I were producing and I had to produce a Democrat network, that's what I would be thinking. [00:08:23] We shall see. [00:08:24] But you know what? [00:08:25] They're going to have to deal with their crisis and it's going to get worse and it's going to get worse. [00:08:28] And well, who really? cares right
