Trish Regan speculates on Michelle Obama's absence from Trump's inauguration, contrasting it with other former First Ladies while addressing rumors of a divorce or affair. The broadcast shifts to CNN leadership changes, suggesting Jim Acosta might be replaced by Wolf Blitzer under Mark Thompson, before highlighting Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi's confrontation with Democrats regarding deep state investigations. Regan praises Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for his fiscal conservatism and defends Trump against homophobia claims, ultimately framing the inauguration as a display of corporate support that defies 2016 turnout trends. Rumors About Obama's Absence00:11:23
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to the big show.
I am Trish Regan.
And, you know, normally I don't report on stuff like this because it feels a little too much like I'm trafficking in some kind of gossip.
But the Obama stuff's getting kind of weird.
Okay, Michelle Obama completely dissed the Jimmy Carter funeral.
And now she's dissing Trump at the inauguration.
Well, you might be able to understand Trump.
I don't really understand the Jimmy Carter thing.
And now it's led to all kinds of speculation.
Could they be getting a divorce?
Does Jennifer Aniston have anything to do with this?
Can you believe we're even talking about this?
Oh, we're going to talk about it.
We're going there.
You know, we have to.
It's a big deal.
She's the former first lady.
I mean, heck, even Hillary Clinton's going to the Trump inauguration.
We're going to talk about that.
Plus, big shakeup coming at CNN and one key anchor may be out of a spot.
He's someone who, I'll give you a hint, definitely doesn't like Trump.
I know that doesn't narrow it down much, but this one really, really doesn't like Donald Trump.
And wow, did you see Pam Bondi?
We saw some of it yesterday.
I've got more of it.
to show you today because she really put one Adam Schiff right smack dab in his place as he so badly needed to be put.
And you know who else got a talking to?
All the Democrats in Congress that don't seem to understand that you can just keep spending money.
Money just grows on trees.
Scott Besant doing an absolutely outstanding job today there on Capitol Hill.
So I want to share with you a little bit of that.
But we begin today with where the heck is Michelle Obama?
Michelle first totally blew off the Jimmy Carter funeral, and now she's going to blow off the Trump inauguration.
Remember, no Michelle at Jimmy Carter's funeral?
I mean, heck, Barack Obama's having a good time talking to Donald Trump.
Check it out.
Gossiping, talking, you know, commonly giving them dirty looks.
Wow.
And no Michelle.
So we had Hillary, we had Laura Bush, hey, even Dougie, Doug Emroth made it.
Melania Trump obviously there, but no Michelle Obama.
So what was going on?
Well, of course, people are asking this question.
And when you couple that together with the fact that she's not going to bother showing up for the Trump inauguration despite the fact that every other first lady is going to be there.
Now, people are starting to put two and two together and they're asking questions naturally, as they do.
When you have an information vacuum, it leads to lots of questions.
And she knows that.
She absolutely knows that.
And so, people are going back to articles like this and statements like this that she's made about her husband.
Like she couldn't stand him for about a decade.
She actually said this.
On a podcast or a television show, Revolt TV had the sound.
Let's play it.
People think I'm being catty by saying this.
It's like there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband.
Michelle Obama is getting candid about love and marriage.
The former first lady doesn't hold back during a December panel with Revolt TV.
When talking about her relationship with her husband of 30 years, Michelle reveals things with Barack weren't always picture perfect.
Especially for about a decade.
And people think I'm being catty by saying this.
It's like there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
So maybe there have been some additional years?
You know, we're just asking.
Apparently, Barack was trying to work on his marriage.
He mentioned it sort of in jest, but not entirely.
Do you remember this one?
The truth is, after eight years in the White House, I needed to spend some time one on one with Michelle.
If I wanted to stay married.
And she says hello, by the way.
I also wanted to spend some quality time with my daughters, who were suddenly young women on their way out the door.
Okay.
Okay.
So, again, just asking, why is she skipping the inauguration?
Here's AP saying, Michelle Obama to skip Trump inauguration, but ex-presidents Obama, Clinton, Bush, and all of their wives are going to be there.
Now, the New York Post says nothing to see here, really, you know.
There's just no excuse.
Actually, the New York Post, I should forgive me.
They're not necessarily saying there's nothing to see here.
They're just saying that she simply won't give an excuse.
So apparently the excuse on Jimmy Carter was that she was on an extended vacation in Hawaii.
That's what she told CNN.
An extended vacation in Hawaii.
Jimmy Carter, he's kind of like, you know, a big deal for Democrats.
You're the former first lady.
You were first lady for eight years, for goodness sake.
Some say you have political aspirations for the future and you can't even bother to go to Jimmy Carter's funeral.
I think it's a little strange because you're on an extended vacation.
And then they tried to massage it some more, and her staff said, well, she had some scheduling conflicts.
You know, that vacation thing that can get in the way of those funerals, I'll tell you.
Is it scheduling conflicts or is it something else?
So, of course, the rumors have started.
Divorce, divorce, divorce is being talked about.
That's one of them out there.
I mean, I'll throw another one out there.
I hope she's okay.
I hope it's not a health thing.
Because this is just not normal.
You don't just blow off Jimmy Carter's funeral followed by the inauguration of the next president.
I know you don't like him, okay, Michelle?
But I'm sorry.
Even Hillary's there.
Laura Bush is there.
They're all there.
Everybody's there except for you.
So it doesn't make a ton of sense.
And then there's this little nugget.
You see, some are suggesting that Michelle's absence, both at Jimmy Carter's funeral and at the inauguration, is actually because Barack might have something going on the side.
I mean, again, I can't believe I'm reporting this as a completely rumor mill city.
But again, when there's no information and the former first lady says she's going to diss the funeral of Jimmy Carter because she's got an extended vacation in Hawaii and some scheduling conflicts, I mean, people start to ask some questions, okay?
You know, you're like, okay, they got a real problem in their marriage, or maybe it's a health issue.
I would say, you know what?
If it's a problem in the marriage, she still should have gone to both events, just as an American patriot.
And the fact that you were first lady for eight years, have some class.
I mean, I know she hasn't always shown that in the past, but like, this is history in the making.
Come on, lady.
Unless it's, well, what In Touch magazine would have you believe.
Okay.
So this is In Touch back in October.
Hmm.
The truth.
about Jen and Barack.
Michelle betrayed as Aniston steals her husband's attention.
They're, quote, obsessed with each other.
Power circles in Washington and in Hollywood can't stop gossiping.
Yikes, that's quite a headline.
Huh.
So apparently the gossip was so strong back in October that Jennifer Aniston actually had to go on Jimmy Kimmel's show and say, no, no, no, it's not true.
No, no, no.
So she broke her silence about all those dating rumors between her and Barack.
And she's like, it's not the case.
I'm speaking the truth here.
And she actually said, and I quote, it's untrue.
There is no truth.
I met him once.
I know Michelle more than him.
And so then Kimmel was like, well, you got anything going on with Michelle?
And then she laughed and denied that too.
But there's a gossip political columnist named Jessica Reed Krause who came out with a story today saying that insiders are predicting an Obama divorce announcement coming soon.
That Michelle Obama's absence at Jimmy Carter's funeral raised a lot of eyebrows.
But yesterday's announcement that she would not be attending Donald Trump's inauguration confirmed something is definitely going on between her and Barack.
And, you know, I I again want to reiterate that this is entirely hearsay, okay?
I have no sources close enough to Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, nor Jennifer Aniston, to be able to confirm or deny any of this.
It's amusing, I guess, but this is what happens in an information vacuum, which is why my advice to Michelle and to Barack is to just come clean and tell us what the heck is going on.
And God forbid it's a health issue.
We saw the same kind of rumor mill startup, remember?
Kate Middleton was going through her issues and people were asking, well, why isn't she there?
Why isn't she there?
This woman writes, it's disheartening, honestly.
Michelle has always been Barack's most trusted partner, both personally and politically.
I like them together.
She's the steady force behind his image, his secret weapon.
To imagine their marriage unraveling is a shock to the legacy they've built.
And then she goes on to say, the question now isn't if, but when.
If I had to guess, they will wait until after the inauguration to announce it.
Timing, you know, is everything.
And yet the story doesn't end there.
For months, I've heard she rides Jennifer Aniston's name tied to Barack.
At first, it seemed ridiculous, like I said.
But the rumors have remained steady among New York and LA circles.
She got a DM yesterday He's with Jennifer Aniston.
My old manager, now a friend, is connected to her inner circle.
At a gathering with Jennifer's friends, the affair came up casually.
Jennifer herself admitted it.
They were sitting with a psychic, which makes it sound surreal, but it's definitely not a secret among her closest friends.
Huh?
All right, so maybe Jack's right when he put out the other day hearing Sirius talk that the reason Michelle isn't at the funeral isn't that she wasn't invited, but that she and Barack are on the outs.
Well, I guess I would add to that and say, you know what?
I think the reason that she's not going to be at the inauguration actually has nothing to do with her despising Donald Trump, which of course she does, and perhaps everything to do with something else going on in her life, whether it be her relationship with her husband or lack thereof, or whether it be with her health, we don't know.
But indeed, it's a mystery because I would just say, look, you know what?
CNN Shakeup and Bias Concerns00:09:15
Suck it up.
You're the former first lady.
You held that position in the White House for eight years.
So get your act together, suck it up and do your duty.
Go to the former President Carter's funeral.
Go to the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States and get over what's going on in your personal life.
Unless, of course, it really is something of the Kate Middleton fashion, in which case then I'm willing to forgive her.
Otherwise, sorry, I don't have a lot of forgiveness.
You're getting a divorce.
Okay, so what?
A lot of people get divorces.
You're the former first lady.
Show up.
Show up.
Do your duty, Michelle Obama.
Quick shout out.

Okay, big shakeup coming over at CNN, ladies and gentlemen.
You remember this guy, right?
You see, the numbers are plunging.
You see how good we're doing.
After this rally in Florida tonight, the president heads off to Pennsylvania for yet another rally tomorrow.
And then later on in the week, Iowa and North Carolina.
Pennsylvania is obviously a critical battleground state.
But Iowa and North Carolina are really states that should be in the bag for President Trump right now.
That's an indication as to how much trouble he's in politically right now, Wolf.
And as this crowd is chanting that there are members of the press here who suck, I should also point out, Wolf, what also sucks, getting the coronavirus.
Wolf?
Yeah, that would be really, really awful over the weekend.
The president said the coronavirus was disappearing.
Clearly, if not disappearing, it's getting a whole lot worse.
Sorry, Jim Acosta.
Thanks very much.
Let's get some more on the breaking pandemic.
Okay, okay.
So there's a shakeup coming at CNN, and both people you just saw on screen. are involved.
Jim Acosta possibly losing his seat to none other than Wolf Blitzer.
This is being reported in the Daily Mail, as well as a newsletter, a newsletter written by a former CNN employee who tracks the media and all the ins and outs, shall we say.
So the headline is CNN boss to announce major shakeup to flailing network's daily lineup.
Of course, it's no secret that CNN is under a lot of pressure.
CNN has always really struggled, shall we say, to define itself and what it is.
And, oh, you know, it's pure news, but it's not really pure news.
We know that.
It's a very biased news product, and the American public has certainly caught on to that.
And so they pretend they're not biased, but they're really biased, which leaves them in a really delicate position.
Because on the one hand, you have Fox, and Fox doesn't pretend to be anything other than a conservative network.
You have Newsmax doing the exact same thing.
They show their bias, they wear it on their sleeve proudly.
And then you have MSNBC, which we don't especially like and in some ways is even worse than CNN.
But at least they admit it, right?
They know what they're doing and that they're proud lefties over there.
And they wear that with their lefty flag day in, day out.
In fact, they're going to be doing it even more because Rachel Maddow is making a comeback.
She's going to be there Monday through Friday, lucky you, for the first 100 days of the Trump presidency.
You see, they're struggling as well with ratings.
Well, CNN is in such a pickle that they're not really sure which way to turn.
They pretend that they're real news, but they're not.
And so no one trusts them and no one watches them.
And so this guy, if you see his picture here over in the corner, he came from the New York Times, which means he really doesn't know what he's doing.
And I can tell you that because I've had this happen before.
I've worked in newsrooms where all of a sudden you get the print guy in, print guy thinks he knows everything.
He doesn't know squat about television.
He doesn't know squat about personality.
He doesn't know squat about how to run a television newsroom, which is entirely different than a bunch of little print reporters.
So you get this guy, Thompson, in there who used to run the New York Times, and he's like, I don't understand it.
I don't get it.
Like, why aren't we rating?
You're not rating because you got no pizzazz in any of your anchors.
You got no personality.
Nobody stands for anything and nobody wants to watch them.
Okay, there you go.
So his answer right now is maybe to take Jim Acosta off and replace him with Blitzer because, you know, Blitzer really lights up the room.
You just got to tune in every day to watch Wolf Blitzer.
I got nothing against the guy.
I'm sure he's a very nice guy.
He's like monotone.
No excitement.
And maybe that's what they want.
You know, it's kind of like a TV version of a print newspaper like the New York Times.
He's just reading the news.
So they're going to put Wolf Blitzer in to the slot that Jim Acosta has right now.
And I think that Jim is a little worried.
I think Jim actually was sort of telegraphing that on his show earlier today.
I pulled a clip.
He's trying to warn everybody that the freedom of the press is going to be absolutely gone because, you know, he's going to lose his 10 a.m. slot.
I want to take a moment to talk about something President Biden said during his farewell address.
He warned the free press is crumbling in this country.
I would add that's only if we, the people, let that happen.
Journalists exist to seek the truth, to tell people's stories, to lift up voices that may not be heard otherwise, to shine a light on injustice, and to hold the powerful accountable.
Can I stop him for one second?
Because I just can't stand that.
To tell stories.
Journalists exist to tell stories.
No, I'm sorry, journalists.
Exist to give the facts and the news.
And maybe if you get a few opinionated journalists out there, a la yours truly, to put a little bit of their own pizzazz and spin on it.
But to tell stories, I cannot stand that.
I'm so sick of the storytelling aspect of it all.
No, no.
We don't need stories.
We need facts.
We need information.
And then we need people that are intelligent enough to actually decipher through all that information to understand what it means on a broader basis, which no one at CNN can actually do.
We are not the enemy of the people.
We are the defenders of the people.
Walter Cronkite once said freedom of the press is not just important to democracy.
It is democracy.
I want to take a moment to show you something.
A woman sent me this sign eight years ago.
She carried it here at a march in Washington.
She wrote on the back of the sign to me and the press here in D.C. You have our support.
To Nora, wherever you are, right back at you.
Reporting from Washington, I'm Jim Acosta.
Okay.
So that was a message to his boss.
the former New York Times guy.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, I'm at her.
Someone made a sign for me.
I'm at her.
You better keep me in the gig, buddy.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Look, I'm just going to say that no matter what they try, they're really not going to get anywhere.
Okay.
They got a print guy trying to remake a television newsroom.
So the print guy is clueless.
He doesn't know what a camera is.
He doesn't know what a light is.
He doesn't know what a television personality is.
So.
He doesn't know how to actually pull the best players together.
I mean, look, Jim is what Jim is.
But if you know how to use your people correctly, you'd know how to put Jim in the right spot.
Jim has a viewpoint.
I don't agree with Jim's viewpoint.
You don't agree with Jim's viewpoint, but it's a viewpoint, which is, frankly, better than some of their anchors.
Like, I guess they're going to put this Pamela Brown in with Wolf Blitzer.
Gosh, she's, I don't mean to be cruel, okay?
Like, don't get me wrong.
but that's a prompter reader if there ever was a prompter reader.
She can read a prompter, barely, and that's about it, but there's nothing there there.
There's nothing beyond the prompter reading.
And Wolf, kind of similar story.
I mean, he's better at ad-libbing, but he's just going to try and give you the news with his own sort of bias built in and nothing more.
So Thompson doesn't understand how to actually create a product that people want to watch.
And guess what?
It's television, for goodness sake.
So give them something a little bit more exciting.
You know, put Jim on opposite Scott Jennings.
Carrie Underwood's Country Star Rise00:07:18
Then you got a show.
Then you got some debates.
Then people might actually tune in, but nobody's going to tune into CNN because they're never going to get it.
They just can't get this one right.
Going back to the story, it looks like Mark Thompson, sorry, I was calling him Scott Thompson, the old New York Times boss brought in to overhaul the network is trying to figure out how to actually spice it up.
And his answer is Wolf Blitzer, who's been there since 1990.
He's like almost 80.
He's like almost as old as Joe.
Oh my gosh.
All right.
Forget about it.
I'm sorry.
CNN.
See ya.
See ya, see ya, see ya.
That is one dying, dying business, shall we say?
You know what's not dying right here.

We got a lot going on.
We got the hottest ticket in town.
That's the inauguration happening.
Carrie Underwood performing.
We're going to get to that in just a quick moment.
But before I do, just a shout out to one of our great sponsors on the show.
That would be Balance of Nature.
I take my fruits and veggies every single day.
You better believe it.
You know, this company, I like numbers and there's lots of numbers to talk about with them because they have thousands and thousands of testimonials on their website of people that absolutely love this stuff.
I know some of our viewers, for example, love it.
Leslie, you've messaged that, that you actually have been taking this for years.
Well, I've been taking it for about a year.
I absolutely love it.
I take the fruits and veggies.
So thousands of people like this.
They have hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide.
They have millions of orders delivered each year.
They have billions of fruits and veggies that are made every single year.
And so all you need to do to add to these numbers is to add you.
Listen, it's new year.
I'm a big believer in prioritizing one's health, one's health and one's wealth, right?
You want to be financially sound.
You want to be physically sound.
I've been very fortunate this year.
I have yet to get a cold, which is saying something because I got three kids who bring all kinds of viruses home, literally, like every single week.
They've all had colds.
I'm going to put them on Balance in Nature too, I'm thinking.
Anyway, fruits and veggies so far, so good.
It's really been working.

It's definitely, definitely well worth it.
Oh, wow.
This is going to be an exciting few days.
This is the hottest ticket in town, I'm telling you.
And everybody wants one.
And all these people that wouldn't go near Donald Trump before all of a sudden are in the game.
I'm talking Mark Zuckerberg.
the guy who's the CEO of TikTok, the ByteDance company.
You've got Jeff Bezos.
You've got Elon Musk.
All of these tech titans are going to be there seated actually with Donald Trump at the inauguration, which is just so super cool.
They have all these balls happening.
There's a crypto ball.
There's all kinds of balls going on.
And everybody's going to this.
And it's just incredible because I'll tell you what a difference four years makes.
Well, eight years makes.
I mean, I remember being there in 2016 and like hardly anyone was there.
So I was broadcasting from one of the big balls.
Remember when Donald Trump got up with Melania and he danced and they played Frank Sinatra's I Did It My Way?
It was really quite a moment.
Well, you know, we had to get guests on set with me.
I'm there, you know, all dressed up in my evening gown with the big headset and everything.
And there weren't a ton of people because you know what?
Nobody was willing other than sort of the diehards to go and do this.
I remember we had Tim Allen.
Remember him from Home Improvement, the comedian.
He was fantastic.
He did a great job.
But it was sort of, it was challenging.
I mean, you had the regular cast of characters, but in terms of the big, big names that you would see, say, at Davos, which incidentally is going on, and a lot of these people are blowing off Davos because they want to be here.
This is the hottest ticket in the world right now.
You know, you weren't getting the Mark Zuckerbergs or the Jeff Bezos or the Jamie Dimons of the world.
But now guess what?
They're all there.
All the big corporations, they're all donating money.
They're all sending CEOs.
You get McDonald's, you get Delta Airlines, Lockheed Martin, Johnson Johnson, JPMorgan Chase.
It's like a who's who in Fortune 500.
And listen, everybody's excited.
Everybody's optimistic.
Some are even delusional, like Jeff Bezos, who suddenly thinks that the media is going to get in line.
I have news for him, but nonetheless, hear him.
I'm super about this president.
And the reason I ask is because I'm very optimistic that President Trump is serious about this regulatory agenda.
And I think he has a good chance of succeeding.
What about the idea that he thinks that the press is the enemy?
Well, I think he.
I'm going to try to talk him out of that idea.
I don't think the press is the enemy.
And I don't think, you know, he's also.
You've probably grown in the last eight years.
He has too.
Like, it's, you know, this is not the case.
The press is not the enemy.
I hope you're right.
I hope I'm right, too.
Oh, sorry.
You know, Jeff, you're really smart at a lot of things, but unfortunately, it is what it is.
And I'd like to see it change too.
But as long as I've been in the media business, it's all been filled with lefties.
And maybe it's a hangover from Vietnam, the Nixon administration.
I don't know, but it is what it is.
And look, there's not a lot of diversity of opinion, shall we say.
But I am excited, at least, for this inauguration because everyone's going to be there.
Coca-Cola, look at this.
They gave him some award just the other day, like an actual coke bottle with Diet Coke, but it's like a trophy.
It's like a glass trophy.
It's really cool.
And this is the CEO, James Quincy of Coca-Cola.
Like all of these people are suddenly like, thank goodness, thank the Lord Trump is back because we don't know how much more we could deal with Biden and his inflation and his ridiculous, stupid economic policy where he was spending all this money into nowhere and oblivion.
And hey, you know what?
The world is going to pass us by if we don't get a handle on this.
Carrie Underwood, she knows that.
Carrie Underwood, I predict, is going to become the number one country star.
is amazing.
Carrie Underwood is going to be performing there and she said she's honored to perform there.
You think about what happened back in 2016.
Do you know that he had to get a 16 year old runner up?
She was like a second runner up on American Idol to perform because nobody would be there.
He's got the village people.
Think YMCA, you know, his song.
He's got to dance to that, right?
It's going to be a grand old party.
I'm super excited.
I'm happy for him.
I'm happy for conservatives.
And you know what, most of all, I am happy for our country.
We deserve this.
We have been through a lot and we need a fresh start.
Leticia James, Judge Marshawn, the other Judge Arthur.
I keep wanting to call him.
Erdogan.
That's not really his name.
Anyway, Judge Arthur, who's slapped a nearly half billion dollar fine on the newly elected president of the United States because somehow Arthur and Letitia think they know how much Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower is worth more than Deutsche Bank or the owner himself.
Anyway, Pam Bondi is coming in as attorney general.
And you know, Pam, she said in the past, let me see if I have this sound for you, because she has said in the past, That she would go after folks.
Watch.
When Republicans take back the White House, you know what's going to happen?
The Department of Justice, the prosecutors will be prosecuted, the bad ones.
The investigators will be investigated because the deep state, last term for President Trump, they were hiding in the shadows.
But now they have a spotlight on them and they can all be investigated.
And they will be.
And so this is what Pam is going to do.
So let me start with an easy truth that you could speak to the president.
Can you tell us, can you tell him that Donald Trump actually hang on?
I want to get to that in a second because that's Adam Schiff and Pam and they have quite a go around.
But before we do that, there was this moment where Pam was asked about just exactly what she would do in terms of going after people like Leticia James.
And here's her response You have said that Department of Justice prosecutors will be prosecuted in the Trump administration.
Department of Justice prosecutors will be prosecuted and why?
I said that on TV.
I said prosecutors will be prosecuted to finish the quote, if bad.
Investigators will be investigated.
You know, we all take an oath, Senator, to uphold the law.
None of us are above the law.
Let me give you a really good example of a bad lawyer within the Justice Department, a guy named Kleinsmith, who altered a FISA warrant.
One of the most important things we can do in this country.
So, will everyone be held to an equal, fair system of justice if I am the next Attorney General?
Absolutely.
And no one is above the law.
Under what circumstances will you prosecute journalists for what they write?
I believe in the freedom of speech only if anyone commits a crime.
It's pretty basic, Senator, with anything, with any victim.
And this goes back to my entire career for 18 years as a prosecutor and then eight years as Florida's Attorney General.
You find the facts of the case, you apply the law in good faith.
And you treat everyone fairly.
Did you hear that, Leticia?
I hope you heard it because I have a feeling she's coming for you, hon. I will not fear Donald Trump.
I have steel in my backbone.
And the reality is, I will not allow this person, Donald Trump, who unfortunately is a broken man, to get in the way of progress and to separate us.
It's unbelievable what they did.
For four years.
I mean, it's really unbelievable.
And I don't care what side of the aisle you're on, you can't tolerate that, okay?
They can't try and make someone into a criminal that's not a criminal.
It's just un American.
And we need to fix the system so that that doesn't happen to anyone on either side ever again, period.
It just can't.
So Pam Bondi got a taste of the Shift Show.
Yes, I'm tucking one.
Adam Shift, you remember him?
Central character in the Shift Show.
You know, he wanted to be a producer or an actor or something in LA and he had to settle for.
Heading to government.
Lucky him.
Anyway, he started to quiz Pam.
And let me tell you, he's no match for her.
President, so let me start with an easy truth that you could speak to the president.
Can you tell us, can you tell him that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election?
Can you say that?
Do you have the independence to say that?
Do you have the gravitas, the stature, the attestable fortitude to say, Donald Trump, you lost the 2020 election?
Can you tell us that here today?
Senator, what I can tell you is I will never play politics.
You're trying to engage me in a gotcha.
I won't play politics with any ongoing power.
So let me ask you another question.
Like you did leaking your colleague Devin Nunes's memo.
If you can't.
Ha ha ha!
Awesome.
Okay.
Score one for Pam and another.
Will it be your advice to the president?
No, Mr. President, I need to go over them on a case by case basis.
Do not issue blanket pardons.
Will that be your advice to the president?
Senator, I have not looked at any of those files.
If confirmed, I will look at the files and review the files.
And will you be able to do, will you be able to review hundreds of cases on day one?
I will look at every file.
I am absolutely.
So, will you advise the president?
Can I answer the question?
Well, my question is.
Clean Energy Portfolio Debate00:06:06
I would have plenty of staff.
You said, of course you want.
You'll be able to review.
I'm not going to mislead this body, nor you.
All right, let me ask another question.
You don't want to answer that.
Let me ask another question.
You were censured by Congress, Senator, for comments just like this that are so radical.
Yeah, she got him right where it hurts, right?
He's just awful.
He's absolutely awful, highly irresponsible, sent everybody on a wild goose chase, most especially that anchor, Rachel Matto, who's.
Coming back for a 100 day stint over at MSNBC.
She was down that conspiratorial rabbit hole like none other with this guy in the wings, right?
He's whispering lines.
I'm sorry, those days are over.
America voted all of that out.
We're tired of it.
We don't want it.
We actually want a country that works.
We want great stuff.
And wow, we're talking great stuff ahead, you know, in part because we got one great Treasury Secretary coming in, along with a great president, along with a great AG, Pam Bundy, along with a great, great Secretary of Defense, my former colleague, friend, Pete Hegseth.
I'm telling you, you got a A list cast of people that are like, we're not going to do it the old way.
No, no, no.
We're going to change things and we're going to change it big.
More on that in a second.
But don't forget 76 research.

This is my company.
This is my company that I started because too many people throughout my career have said, Trish, you know like I want to invest, I don't know how to invest.
How do I start investing?
I mean, everyone that i've come across and I I said to a very dear friend, Rob Horton, who started this with me, look, there's a lot of good that we can do.
I hope we can do and I want to get people excited about investing because I'm excited about the next four years.
I think there's just tremendous, tremendous change that's on its way.
And part of the reason for all this change that's coming, it's because we have got a fabulous, glorious new team coming in.
Treasury Secretary is an incredibly important spot.
I love the guy that was picked for Treasury Secretary.
And I'm just going to tell you something on background.
I know a lot of people that have worked with him, worked with him very closely, and they say he's brilliant.
He's one of the smartest people.
Most sophisticated financial thinkers they have ever come across in their careers.
That would be one, Mr. Scott Besant.
He's going to be the next Treasury Secretary of the United States of America.
And he wowed everyone.
Let me start here with this little glimpse into Senator Wyden asking him, Aren't we going to do more to make sure that we have clean energy?
Because China's going to basically totally kill us with all their clean energy.
It's like, Senator Wyden, what kind of Kool Aid are you drinking?
Last I checked, Channel wasn't necessarily all that clean with their energy, right?
Well, Besson called them out right in front of everyone.
It was a glorious watch.
The more you reduce carbon, the bigger your tax savings.
Now there is a big effort in the Trump administration to reverse it.
I think that's going to be bad for the economy, but it is going to be damn good for China because we are in an arms race on clean energy with them.
Are you going to be on the side of people who want to unravel this?
Senator Wyden, just so we can frame this for everyone in the room, China will build 100 new coal plants this year.
There is not a clean energy race.
There is an energy race.
China will build 10 nuclear plants this year.
That is not solar.
I am in favor of more nuclear plants.
And I would note that the IRA, as scored by the CBO, is wildly out of control in terms of spending on the upside.
This is great.
You know what?
Incidentally, did you see who is seated behind him?
His son?
and his husband.
And I flag that because for all those people, I'm looking at you, Whoopi Goldberg, that said Trump was homophobic and all the horrible things that they said about him.
Your new Treasury Secretary is a happily married man married to another man with a child, a son that they have raised together.
So it's not an issue.
In fact, I haven't talked about it before because I don't really see it as a, you know, Donald Trump is somebody who's all about who is the best person for this job.
Male, female, black, white, gay, straight, I don't care, he'd say.
Who's the best person for the job, period?
And that's all he's looking at.
We got a really good person for that job.
It was interesting.
Today, he was asked actually something about why it was that he had never been in government before.
And his answer was rather interesting.
He said he was shot down from the Naval Academy in Foreign Service because of his sexual preference.
And he praised Donald Trump for not caring about this.
This was in response to a question, as I said, about why he had not previously served in government.
So you know what?
I'm sorry, but Whoopi Goldberg, CNN, MSNBC, all these nutjobs that were trying to say that Trump is one thing.
I got news for you.
You know what?
He's not what you think.
He's really not.
He's about fixing America and whoever can help him fix America, he's on board with.
You know what?
Besant gets it.
Besant understands.
America Returns to Its People00:06:55
You cannot spend more than you make indefinitely.
Now bear with me because this is kind of a wonky soundbite, but it's a big part of what I believe in.
I've said this for years.
Like, you know, you're a family.
Think of this, right?
You're a family and, you know, maybe you get an increase, a raise.
Does that mean you go out and you buy a new car?
Do you go redecorate your house?
Or maybe you ought to just still try to live within your means.
You don't need to spend everything you have.
What has the United States done?
These idiots on the left think that if our GDP or our economy is growing, that we need to grow spending accordingly.
Well, they've not only grown it accordingly as a percentage of GDP, which historically was somewhere around 17%, they've bumped it all the way up to 25%.
We haven't seen anything like that since like days of wars.
Like, or the, you know, Trying to get out of a great recession.
Scott articulated this beautifully.
I want you to hear it.
We do not have a revenue problem in the United States of America.
We have a spending problem.
That historically, for the past 40 or 50 years, revenues, federal government revenues, have averaged about 17 to 17.5% of GDP.
And spending has been slightly over that, leading us to a 3.5% budget deficit.
Which is manageable because we have roughly 3.8% nominal growth, 1.8% real growth, 2% inflation.
Today, as you stated, and to be clear, this is one of the things that got me out from behind my desk and my quiet life in this campaign the thought that this spending is out of control.
We are spending about 24%, 25% of GDP.
So, as you said, 6.8% to 7% deficit.
We have never seen this before when it is not a recession or not a war.
And I am concerned because several times the Treasury of the United States has been called upon to save the nation, whether it was the Civil War, the Great Depression, World War II, or the recent COVID epidemic, Treasury, along with full government and Congress, has used its borrowing capacity to Save the Union, to save the world,
and to save the American people.
And what we currently have now, we would be hard pressed to do the same.
Wow.
You can't spend more than you make.
You have to live within your means.
We can't turn ourselves into an emerging market developing country, which is the direction we have been heading, and you have only to look at what's going on in California right now to understand that.
We're better than that.
We need smart people, not DEI politicians just trying to stuff their own pockets.
That is a banana republic.
We are the United States of America.
We need the right people in charge.
We need people who understand business and understand the economy and understand the beauty of a meritocracy, which is what we are and always have been until these clowns showed up and tried to take it away from us.
But we're taking it back.
America is coming back to the people that love it, believe in it, and are willing to work their asses off for it.
Excuse my french.
All right, that's what's happening, so it is a glorious time.
I don't think i've been this excited in years.
I mean really.
I mean it's been.
It's been a long time coming guys, has it not?
I mean, when you think, when you think of everything that we have been through collectively, and now, here we are today And there's so much capacity for change and so much capacity for greatness.
Another reason to make sure you go to investinmaga.com, okay?
It's free.
It's my gift to you or go to 76research.com.

D-O-L-L-A-R.
We just came out with a piece on housing because guess what?
There's a lot of great stuff that can happen on the housing front too.
You got a developer, for goodness sakes.
A developer now in the White House.
America has a housing shortage.
How do we fix that?
Let's come up with some innovative smart.
capitalist incentives and reasons to be able to fix all this.
I mean, it's sort of limitless right now, this opportunity.
And you think about the technological changes and the fact that you do have this birth in AI.
It's very different than in the year 2000.
I was never that enthusiastic about tech stocks way back when.
I remember warning people over and over and over again.
Why?
Because, you know, sneakers.com just wasn't going to do it for me.
Now you have ChatGPT.
You have Perplexity.
You have Grok.
You have so much technological change.
Let's lead the world as we're doing.
But if we're not careful, if we don't protect that position, if we don't grow that position, what happens to us?
We become France.
And China becomes the next USA.
We needed this.
We needed this clean slate.
We needed this fresh start.
And it's here, America.
So congratulations to all of you.
Congratulations to this great country.
It's good to see all of you guys here.
Don Baca, thank you.
He's always after you guys to make sure that you like the show and that you subscribe to the show.
Alphonse, a pleasure to see you.
You're looking forward to the inauguration.
I am too.
I'm just looking forward to some great stuff.
And you know what?
It's going to be four years of greatness.
And then I think.
We're getting ready for a whole period of greatness because MAGA is here to stay.
People have finally recognized this.
Wonderful stuff ahead.
Wonderful stuff.
Okay, I'm here with you for all of it.
We're on the front lines of history together right here on The Trish Regan Show.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for tuning in.
Make sure if you haven't, if you haven't, do make sure that you go ahead and you subscribe to the show, that you hit the bell, that little alert bell, so that you know when I'm here because sometimes the time changes, especially if I'm traveling.
