Comedian Kevin Hart has stepped down from hosting the Oscars over offensive, anti-gay jokes he made almost ten years ago as tweets from 2009 and a stand-up routine in 2010.
Initially, people were outraged when these tweets resurfaced.
Kevin Hart has already apologized for them.
He actually addressed it in 2015 in an interview.
But they're still mad and they demanded he apologized.
Now, defiantly, Kevin Hart said no.
He refused.
He made two statements where he said, listen, we've been through this before.
I'm not going to apologize again.
And if the Academy, the Oscars, don't want him to host, then so be it.
However, unfortunately, he caved.
And only about a half an hour after posting his defiant message to Instagram, he gave up and issued two apologies on Twitter.
Unfortunately, these will do nothing.
Because time and time again, we can see that in the past, there were things that weren't as offensive.
And over time, they become more offensive, and comedians, actors, personalities will apologize for them.
But those apologies do absolutely nothing.
Was James Gunn saved because he apologized for his offensive tweets years ago when they resurfaced?
No, he wasn't.
He still lost his job.
So today, let's take a look at the news about Kevin Hart and let's talk about how apologizing to the outrage mob does literally nothing.
But before we get started, please take a look down below this video and you will see a little join button.

Yesterday, Deadline.com reported defiant Kevin Hart won't apologize, tells Academy to move on if it must.
Kevin Hart was slated to host the Oscars, but refused to apologize for past jokes he made.
They say the Kevin Hart Oscar hosting crisis just hit DEFCON 1.
In his latest Instagram post in handling a crisis that has been escalating all day, Hart essentially says that he has dealt with his homophobic statements in the past, and he's not going to let internet trolls win.
He will stand his ground and not apologize, despite the Academy's persistent demand for an apology.
He says that if the Academy can't accept that, they can replace him, and it'll be no harm, no foul.
So it seems just a matter of time before the Academy cuts ties with him, a move that can come as early as tonight.
Because even though Hart has a point in objecting to have postings from nearly a decade ago thrown in his face, his stubbornness has established him as a clear liability, and his unwillingness to apologize for homophobic comments could reverberate with nominees and in other areas.
Says Hart, We feed internet trolls and we reward them.
I'm not going to do it, man.
I'm going to be me.
I'm going to stand my ground.
Regardless, Academy, I'm thankful and appreciative of the opportunity.
If it goes away, no harm, no foul.
For the record, this is the second Instagram post Hart has filmed today, and he didn't apologize in either one.
What an unfortunate turn of events.
Watch this unfortunate and surreal event unfold in real time.
On Instagram, we saw Kevin Hart post this video.
I'm not gonna play it, but he essentially says he's apologized for this before, and he's not going to keep playing this game.
And I gotta say, his initial statements, I respected.
I respected a lot.
His first post talked about how the world was going crazy.
He said, stop looking for reasons to be negative.
Stop searching for reasons to be angry.
I swear, I wish you could see, feel, understand the mental place that I am in.
I am truly happy, people.
There is nothing that you can do to change that nothing.
In this post, he talked about people are trying to be angry, to rile people up, and you have to ignore it.
And we have seen things like this happen time and time again.
A random group of vocal minority demands an apology.
The celebrity, personality, whoever makes the apology, and nothing changes.
Period.
I think by now people would realize you have to stand up to the nonsense.
There is a tiny minority of people who actually care about this.
Let's take a moment to talk about the song Baby It's Cold Outside.
You may have heard that various radio stations in the U.S.
are pulling the song for this Christmas.
And in Canada, the CBC will not be playing Baby It's Cold Outside either.
And the reason I bring this up is that no one is actually offended by that song, for the most part.
Not only has the song been defended by conservatives, which you'd expect, the song has actually been defended by feminists.
So why are these radio stations pulling it?
Well, there's a tiny fraction of people who claim to be outraged.
And these radio stations are scared of a backlash, so they create a problem that never existed in the first place.
And this is what happens with celebrities.
Who's actually offended about Kevin Hart?
Actually, a decent amount of people for sure.
But he already apologized for it.
So why is it coming up again?
Because angry people on the internet are looking for things to be angry about, and for some reason, massive, powerful institutions bend over backwards.
Unfortunately, the respect I had for Kevin Hart was lost when he actually apologized for something he already apologized for, and not just once but twice, when he tweeted, This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists.
I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from the past.
He added, I'm sorry that I hurt people.
I am evolving and want to continue to do so.
My goal is to bring people together, not tear us apart.
Much love and appreciation to the Academy.
I hope we can meet again.
So let's make something clear.
Kevin Hart's jokes were actually pretty offensive.
And I do think it's fair to say that as culture changes, some things become offensive and we don't do them anymore.
We used to do things in the 1920s and 30s that are considered greatly offensive today, we don't do them now.
And I'm talking specifically about performance art.
We change.
The problem here is not that Kevin Hart was making bad or offensive jokes.
It's that people won't allow it to change.
They won't allow someone to apologize.
They won't allow you to evolve.
In his Instagram post, Kevin Hart says he addressed this, he apologized for this, and if you can't believe that people will evolve or change, Then he can't help you.
If someone doesn't understand you and they want to be angry, there's nothing you can do about it.
What we're seeing now with this outrage culture is that even though Kevin Hart has acknowledged what he did was wrong in the past years ago, it doesn't matter.
People can't change and the social justice regressive left refuses to forgive and forget.
They don't care.
You make a mistake once, you're done.
But not just that.
There are certain things that happened 10 years ago that actually weren't that offensive.
Now, Kevin Hart's jokes, I think, are rather offensive to the LGBTQ community, and I can respect that.
And I think it's fair to say that as time goes on, we eventually stop making some jokes.
But I think it's also fair to say that the outrage mob is pushing as hard as possible to basically make everything offensive.
We have to move slow and try and understand whether or not we're becoming overly sensitive to nonsense, or if there's actually something we should consider should change.
Regardless of what we do change, if someone like Kevin Hart in 2015 says that he's sorry, he's changed as a person, and he won't make those jokes again, we say, very well, thank you for the apology.
What's wrong with that?
But that's not how it works.
The apologies will do nothing, as evidenced by what happened with James Gunn.
You may recall that on July 20th, we saw this story from The Wrap.
Director James Gunn apologizes for offensive old tweets joking about very bad things, I'll put it that way.
Gunn tweeted, Many people who have followed my career know, when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo.
As I have discussed publicly many times, as I have developed as a person, so has my work in humor.
He said, in the past, I have apologized for humor of mine that hurt people.
I truly felt sorry and meant every word of my apologies.
But of course that doesn't matter.
James Gunn was still fired from Guardians of the Galaxy franchise over his offensive tweets.
And Guardians of the Galaxy was a huge franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making a ton of money.
It was kind of crazy to see the studio say, you know what, we know you've apologized for this before, but we're gonna fire you anyway, even though it means us losing hundreds of millions of dollars, and potentially more, in fan backlash across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I'm really, really upset that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is basically on indefinite hiatus.
Am I a fan of James Gunn's politics?
No, of course not, but I don't care.
He made really bad jokes.
Okay, he shouldn't have done that.
He apologized.
I appreciate it.
I forgive you.
Let's try to move on.
What happens if you refuse to forgive someone?
Well, Kevin Hart, what's his choice?
He apologized multiple times now.
Is that going to change anything?
Probably not.
You're effectively excising Your own supporters and people who are willing to agree with you because you want them to bend the knee.
And all that will happen is you'll end up seeing more angry people saying, you know what?
I'm done with this.
Let's take a look at what happened with Aziz Ansari.
He was accused by a women's blog of doing something inappropriate to one of his dates.
The story was considered extreme because, in effect, it was a story about a bad date.
Well, what happens after Aziz Ansari is dragged over the coals for something that wasn't even really that bad?
He comes back, and according to The New Yorker, his new stand-up tour is a cry against extreme wokeness.
The outrage mobs are fake, in my opinion.
People aren't really offended, and if they are, they're being offended on behalf of other people.
It kind of makes no sense.
Not only that, there are people who are actually members of these marginalized communities who aren't offended, and have these weird white elite progressives Acting like they're offended on their behalf, and then telling the minority who isn't offended, they're internalizing their oppression.
It seems absolutely insane to constantly have people who are not a part of the affected community acting like they're the ones who are offended.
All that will happen, in my opinion, Is that Kevin Hart's apologies are effectively an admission of guilt.
That he knows he's a bad person, he knows he's done something wrong, and it will be lorded over him forever.
And that's why we're seeing this again.
That even though he apologized before, he better do it again.
That's all that matters.
The mob doesn't care.
They don't care what is or isn't defensive.
They don't care who is or isn't defended.
They just want to be a part of the mob, and they go after anyone.
It's really crazy, honestly.
I think what we'll end up seeing is the total collapse of this system.
Kevin Hart tried to defy the outrage mob.
He did.
And then he caved in about a half an hour after a second post, and that's rather unfortunate.
It's not gonna do anything for you.
