Greetings, my esteemed audience.
I'm checking in with a quick video.
I thought to read you all a poem from this fine book.
Now, perhaps you saw, I made, uh I wrote a book review on it.
First link in the description box below.
I can also say, if you don't read the book review, you hurt me a bit, but it's okay, I will try to forgive you.
But anyway, yes, I can recommend the book if you wonder.
It's a really interesting book.
Now, I stumbled upon in it a song to Mithras in the book.
So I will read it for you, and you will admire my poetic voice.
So this is a song to Mithras from Rudyard Kipling's Pook of Pook's Hill from 1906.
A poem that beautifully expresses the spirit of Mithrism.
A song to Mithras Mithras, God of the morning, our trumpets waken the wall.
Rome is above the nations, but thou art over all.
Now as the names are answered and the guards are marched away, Mithras, also a soldier, give us strength for the day.
Mithras, God of the noontide, the heather swims in the heat, our helmets scorched our foreheads, our sandals burn our feet.
Now in the ungirt hour, now ere we blink and drowse, Mithras, also a soldier, keep us true to our vows.
Mithras, god of the sunset, low on the western main, thou descending immortal, immortal to rise again.
Now when the watch is ended, now when the wine is drawn, Mithras also a soldier, keep us pure till the dawn.
Mithras, god of midnight, here where the great bull dies, look on thy children in darkness, oh take our sacrifice.
Many roads thou hast fashioned, all of them lead to the light.
Mithras, also a soldier, teaches to die aright.
How about that?
Quite beautiful poetry.
In all actuality, I believe it's really good stuff.
So anyway, I simply wanted to check in.
I enjoy reading poetry.
I hope you do like it too.
And perhaps I will continue to do so.
So anyway, a short poem by Rudyard Kipling.
Now, if you are interested in the rest of the book, do check out my book review.
So good stuff, good stuff.
Now I will hit the Temple of Iron in the honor of Mithras.
Exacto.
