The Golden One - Marcus Follin - Total War: Warhammer 3. Epic Cinematics and a Look at the Great Orthodoxy Aired: 2022-02-17 Duration: 18:46 === Opportunity Unveiled (02:11) === [00:00:24] The Tome of Fates. [00:00:28] It reveals the secrets of the past, the present, and what may come to be. [00:00:36] Most would think me fortunate to own such a book, but I can only use it in service to others. [00:00:46] That is my curse. [00:00:50] It wakes, tormenting me once more, feeding on the mysteries of this world, unraveling them into opportunity. [00:01:04] that opportunity for whom greetings my esteemed laddingtons [00:01:34] Welcome to a Let's Play of Total War Warhammer 3. [00:01:38] Now, we have done Total War Let's Plays on this channel since 2014. [00:01:45] Imagine that. [00:01:46] Good times, good times. [00:01:48] So I thought to continue this fine tradition of perhaps not a full series of this game, because time is of the essence, and I have some other videos planned, but I thought at least to show the game and of course show you the nice introduction you saw there and the nice introduction you will see now. [00:02:11] So yeah, Warhammer Total War 2, absolutely great game. [00:02:16] I really enjoyed playing it and I've made some let's plays of it as well of course, which you might have seen. [00:02:24] Now, anyway, we will get straight into it with a new campaign. === Chaos Gods and Godbears (15:23) === [00:02:36] This world has been sundered by a tide of arcane energy. [00:02:42] The winds of magic turned into a maelstrom. [00:02:50] The tome of fate drew me north to find out why. [00:02:56] It guided me to a distant fortress steeped in blood. [00:03:03] A battle was fought there. [00:03:06] Though long over, the spirits still lingered. [00:03:13] In the shadow of a broken portal, the trail ended. [00:03:17] It was here the Tome conversed with the dead. [00:03:22] They told of Ursan, the bear god of Tislev, lost in darkness. [00:03:29] A noble prince ventured to save him, yet he strayed from the path and was corrupted by chaos. [00:03:37] Savior became Executioner. [00:03:42] A single shot, bound in Faith Forsaken, pierced Ursan's heart. [00:03:49] And so the bear god roared. [00:03:53] The tide that broke the world. [00:03:58] Spirits, where lies Ursun now? [00:04:02] Is he here in the north? [00:04:04] Beyond the master in the realm of chaos of the Forge of Souls. [00:04:11] Is he alive? [00:04:13] Wounded and dying. [00:04:16] Empress. [00:04:18] It's shadow. [00:04:19] What shadow? [00:04:21] The Demons? [00:04:29] I knew who shackled the bear. [00:04:33] Bellacor. [00:04:45] Only a fool would challenge Bellacor. [00:04:49] And yet, the power of a dying god. [00:04:53] There is no greater prize. [00:04:56] A mere drop of Ursan's blood would break my curse, ending my servitude to this accursed book. [00:05:05] Free to profit from its secrets. [00:05:08] But Ursun is locked in the Forge of Souls, deep in the realm of chaos, and I cannot enter this nightmarish domain. [00:05:18] All roots have been sealed by the Maelstrom. [00:05:22] There must be a way. [00:05:26] Ah, the tome unveils a spell to summon a portal. [00:05:31] One to bypass the minstrum and create a door into chaos. [00:05:37] Knowledge to bargain, for I need an ally. [00:05:41] One who is tempted by the power of the Godbear and can withstand the horrors within. [00:05:53] Absolutely epic is what that trailer was. [00:05:57] Something I always appreciate with these Total War games, the cinematics. [00:06:03] So of course, we need to save the bear god from the vicious forces of chaos. [00:06:10] All too easy to be corrupted by chaos, which is what you see in this modern world of ours. [00:06:16] So we have a few different civilizations here. [00:06:18] We have Kislev, which is based on good old Russia. [00:06:24] Then we have Grand Katai, which is based on good old China. [00:06:30] And we have a few different Chaos Gods. [00:06:34] So Korn is the blood god. [00:06:37] Stands for sheer aggression and violence. [00:06:41] Then Slanesh, which if you have been with me for a long time, you have heard me say that the forces of Slanesh. [00:06:50] So that's basically the god of excess and degeneracy. [00:06:55] Then Nurgle, of course. [00:06:57] I mentioned before as well, the god of sickness and disease. [00:07:01] So when I say that I've been struck down by Nurgle, that's what I mean, that I have gotten sick. [00:07:10] He hasn't struck me down in a good while now, because I bear the blessing of Apollo, and because I garlic Max, and I take my zinc and vitamin D. [00:07:22] So that's how you can withstand the attentions of Nurgle to optimize your immune system. [00:07:28] Then we have Tzinch which is sort of like an evil god of knowledge, a trickster god, a god of scheming. [00:07:38] Now of course we won't be playing any of this because we need to fight the demons of chaos both in Warhammer games and in our own world. [00:07:49] Now of course the demon that is perhaps most powerful in our age is Slanesh. [00:07:56] So we can think of things such as only fans and pornography. [00:08:01] So that's the influence of Slanesh. [00:08:06] Anyway, we have Ogre Kingdoms. [00:08:09] So they are ogres that roam in great migrations and mog others by rampaging through the lands. [00:08:19] Then we have Demons of Chaos. [00:08:21] It's another faction, which is they are demons. [00:08:26] that aren't committed to any of these four main gods. [00:08:30] So this could be interesting as well, of course. [00:08:32] But I think the only reasonable course of action is to go with Kislev here. [00:08:38] So we're gonna choose these guys. [00:08:40] So we have a Tsarina, Tsarina Katerin. [00:08:43] So the name is most likely based on the Empress Katerina of Russia. [00:08:50] And you can see here, some faction effects, some lord effects. [00:08:54] So yeah, we don't need to read through all of this. [00:08:57] I'm sure she is a great character to play with. [00:09:02] We also have this. [00:09:08] Constaltin the Redeemer, the great Orthodoxy. [00:09:12] I think all of my Orthodox Christian friends want me to choose this guy. [00:09:19] So as Supreme Patriarch of the Ursunite faith, Constaltin is one of the most powerful spiritual leaders in Kislev. [00:09:26] Wild and unkempt in appearance, he is a howling, angry firebrand on the battlefield, urging his devoted followers onwards to fight and die in the name of the Great Bear. [00:09:37] Sounds absolutely based. [00:09:39] I think we will actually go with this particular guy. [00:09:42] So he has minus 40 in diplomatic relations with the Ice Court, but otherwise, devotion generated 10 from successful patriarch hero actions. [00:09:55] Sounds absolutely like something many of you would appreciate. [00:10:01] So we will go with this guy. [00:10:05] And of course, campaign going with legendary. [00:10:10] It's the only way to play if you're a true connoisseur of Total War games. [00:10:16] That's what I play in Total War Warhammer 2 at least. [00:10:20] To get a good challenge. [00:10:22] Then we'll go with hard in the battles. [00:10:24] I don't think the battles themselves are the nicest thing with the game, but the civilizational development and trade and that sort of thing. [00:10:35] So anyway, let's get into the campaign. [00:10:38] So you can see this fine artwork as well. [00:10:42] Inspired by both Russian and Polish Hussars. [00:10:47] So you see the cavalry there with the wings behind Polish hussars. [00:10:58] At the icy grave of Kislev's most glorious leader, I found the one I seek. [00:11:07] Kostartin of Kislev. [00:11:09] There is no price he would not pay to save Erson. [00:11:14] And with the death of Tsar Boris Berger, he alone has belief enough to perform this miracle. [00:11:23] It is a mercy that you cannot witness Kislev's desolation. [00:11:30] Your son has been taken from us. [00:11:34] I see it. [00:11:35] In visions, he bleeds, trapped and alone. [00:11:41] Yet instead of worship, the Tsarina dallies with frost magic and courtly intrigue. [00:11:51] Forgive me, my circ, but your daughter fails you. [00:11:57] Doom comes for Kislev. [00:12:05] The shade who follows me shows himself. [00:12:09] I know where Ursun dies, and I can take you to him. [00:12:14] Lies will not save you, disciple of the Dark Gods. [00:12:18] Listen to me. [00:12:20] My book reveals a path to his deathbed. [00:12:23] I will show you the way for one drop, just one, of Ursun's divine blood. [00:12:29] Here is a sin unbound! [00:12:32] It will free me of a chaos-sent curse. [00:12:35] It will make me pure. [00:12:38] And your faith. [00:12:39] Your faith will save your God. [00:12:44] Bring your book. [00:12:46] The motherland endures, whatever the cost. [00:12:57] Is to rescue Urson, the god bear of Gislef, from the clutches of Belico. [00:13:04] After fraught bargaining, my price is agreed, and I will do all I can to guide the Kislevites to their lost god. [00:13:16] Mere moments are left to prove your profane book will aid my work and save Ursun, heretic! [00:13:28] Your grace, if you are to rescue Ursun, you must do so from a place of strength. [00:13:34] We do not have time to persuade, so must chastise those hostile to us. [00:13:40] Wipe out the Ungol kindreds and seed their settlements with followers who share the ideals of the Great Orthodoxy. [00:13:50] Further to the east, an even more despicable threat lurks. [00:13:55] The vile rat men of Hell Pit. [00:13:59] If we are to welcome Ursun back to the Motherland, such abominations must be purged. [00:14:06] But not all are enemies this far north. [00:14:09] Allies can be found in the proud city of Prague. [00:14:14] They have had their fill of heretics and deviants, so we'll welcome your sermons and scrutiny by the Orthodoxy. [00:14:22] Further south, however, is the witch's nest. [00:14:26] She claims the capital and defiles the once great palace of her revered father. [00:14:33] These towns fall under the Ice Queen's influence, but can be won over, or trodden underfoot, if they refuse to see the truth. [00:14:44] And in the southwest lie the lands of the Empire. [00:14:49] Weaklings who have taken Kislev's protection for granted. [00:14:54] Perhaps it is time to punish the ungrateful, or see if they are willing to be converted. [00:15:02] So you see, your grace, we have many heretics to slay. [00:15:07] But be ready, for when the time is right, we shall fight our way into the Chaos Belm itself. [00:15:18] Heathens that stray from the teachings of the great Orthodoxy surround us. [00:15:22] Punish such unbelievers with fire and fury all right. [00:15:33] We are in the game after yet another epic cinematic And I am Kostatin! [00:15:41] And we need to purge these heretics from the realm. [00:15:45] So just having a look here at the Overall graphics and feel of the game really nice, I must say. [00:15:53] I um really like it. [00:15:55] So we have the Empire here and some wood elves, the witch's wood we have here. [00:16:02] So he's having a look here. [00:16:04] Looks good, looks nice. [00:16:06] We have a Griffon there. [00:16:08] We have Erengrad with other Kislevites, I suppose. [00:16:14] And then we have Nuden here. [00:16:16] Nice name for a city. [00:16:20] And yeah, good stuff, good stuff. [00:16:23] And then we have what is Scandinavia, I suppose. [00:16:30] Up here. [00:16:32] So some Chaos Marauders. [00:16:36] Anyway, since this is... I need to illuminate these heretics. [00:16:48] Battle is upon us. [00:16:50] Study your. [00:16:52] So had it been a bit more even, the odds I would have played it out manually. [00:17:00] But now, since we outnumber them quite a bit, I will just auto-resolve here. [00:17:06] And then we have a few different options. [00:17:11] We can pardon captives, or we can Saliak provides how we can reinvigorate our forces here. [00:17:23] A potent ally has joined your ranks. [00:17:26] Embed them in your army. [00:17:31] We have got an as a sort of hero here, we can embed embed in our army. [00:17:43] And then I suppose we can go on to conquer these settlements here in Troll Country. === Moment to Play (00:46) === [00:17:59] Good stuff, good stuff. [00:18:02] And here we have a shrine of Ursun. [00:18:07] Quite aesthetic. [00:18:10] Quite aesthetic indeed. [00:18:12] Now, anyway, I just wanted to show you this fine game. [00:18:17] And yeah, as I said, looks good, looks good. [00:18:20] I will probably take a little moment in the coming time to play a bit. [00:18:28] But yeah, as I said, I have quite a few other videos I want to make. [00:18:34] So this will be it for this fine game. [00:18:37] Maybe later on I will show you some more of it. [00:18:40] Who knows? [00:18:41] Who knows? [00:18:42] Anyway, thank you for watching and I wish you all a great day ahead.
