[00:01:07] the wind and our names will inspire the mighty to rise. [00:01:34] Greetings my esteemed subscribers. [00:01:37] I am taking an ever so quick break from my rather hectic schedule to have a look at Total War Troy now. [00:01:45] I will not play this yet. [00:01:47] I won't make a let's play per se, but rather just a quick overview. [00:01:52] I might give it a go later in the autumn when things calm down a bit, but at the moment I have far too much on my schedule to put aside time to properly enjoy this fine game. [00:02:05] But I thought to just show it to you. [00:02:07] I also thought to give you a book recommendation. [00:02:10] You probably saw it on my Instagram account. [00:02:13] It's a series of four books which really tells the Iliad and Odyssey, but rewritten to make it a bit more easy to digest for a modern reader. [00:02:25] Now, of course, you can read the original Iliad and Odyssey, but if you want to get through it a bit faster, make the language a bit more understandable, then I can definitely recommend the the book series. [00:02:38] I'm on the third book right now and yeah, it's good stuff. [00:02:42] So that is the book recommendation for the day, or book recommendations, should I say so? [00:02:48] Anyway, we are here in Bronze Age Greece, the Greek world, and we're gonna have a look at the main heroes. [00:02:57] So the trailer I opened up with, I'd say, Achilles in my imagination looks a bit more youthful than in the trailer, but you know it's all good anyway. [00:03:08] So we have here the main guy Achilles, warlord of the Myrmidons you can play as him, looking quite aesthetic indeed. [00:03:18] Then we have the king of men, the Mycenaean king Agamemnon. [00:03:22] The main driving force behind the, the invasion of Troy, is the main king of the Greeks and he obviously wants Troy as a prize. [00:03:35] Then we have Odysseus, the brains behind the operation and also the main character of the Odyssey, his way back to his wife in Ithaca. [00:03:47] So yeah good, good man right here. [00:03:51] Also his idea to create the Trojan horse that eventually brings the, the Western Greeks, the Victory. [00:04:00] Then we have the tragic Menelaus. [00:04:04] He gets cucked by Paris. [00:04:06] He gets his wife Helen stolen by Paris, and that is the spark of the war. [00:04:14] So they go to war on his behalf, but it's also due to his older brother's ambition. [00:04:20] So Agamemnon here. [00:04:21] So those are the Western Greek heroes you can play as. [00:04:26] Then we can look at the Trojans right here. [00:04:31] We have Hector, my favorite character in this whole epic saga. [00:04:38] You know, dutiful older brother who defends his city against the invasion force. [00:04:46] So you can play as him. [00:04:47] And if I do play this during autumn, I will probably play as him or perhaps as Achilles. [00:04:54] Who knows? [00:04:54] We'll see. [00:04:56] Then we have the villainous Paris, Paris of Troy, who abducts Helen from Sparta when they're there on a diplomatic mission. [00:05:09] So you can play as him as well. [00:05:11] And here we have the legendary Aeneas, if I pronounce that correctly. [00:05:17] And you have plenty of later European peoples who claim descendantship from this individual. [00:05:24] So the last Trojan who manages to escape westward. [00:05:30] Then you have here a King of Lycia. [00:05:33] You can play as well. [00:05:35] So we're gonna have a quick look at the campaign itself is looking at the aesthetics. [00:05:41] So we'll choose Achilles. [00:05:46] And yeah, you have a bit of different options. [00:05:49] Here I'm not gonna go in far too much. [00:05:53] I'm just gonna get into the game. [00:05:59] Are we mere playthings of the gods? [00:06:04] Or do we plead divine influence to justify our foolish choices? [00:06:14] He's taken her! [00:06:15] He's taken my vote! [00:06:21] You've risked the safety of Troy. [00:06:26] Troy is my home now. [00:06:30] You have my oath, brother. [00:06:33] She will be returned to you, brother. [00:06:38] I can fight! [00:06:39] Go, seek shelter. [00:06:42] There'll be plenty of fighting ahead. [00:06:51] Helen's flight was a grave wound to Achaean pride. [00:06:57] King Menelaus will have his revenge, and his brother will have his war with Troy, just as the gods intended. [00:07:12] Right, so another epic intro there, and you can see the artwork in the background here. [00:07:18] Quite true to the time period as well. [00:07:22] So that is nice to see, no doubt. [00:07:54] And commander of the Myrmidons. [00:07:58] Glory in battle is my god-given fate. [00:08:02] Your ally, King Lycomedes, rules the Isle of Skyros. [00:08:08] As a boy, you were sheltered in Lycomedes' court on your father's command. [00:08:15] Now you must protect the old king in turn. [00:08:20] Heed both threats from enemies like the Elopeans and opportunities that come your way through friends such as prosperous King Oelius and his son Ajax the Lesser. [00:08:34] The independent Thessalians could be a bulwark for your western flank. [00:08:42] Keep your courage, lion-hearted Achilles, for you know well that fortune favors the bold. [00:08:54] Fortune favors the bold. [00:08:57] A most correct the enemy sends their warriors against you to ravage your lands and sack your cities, but perhaps they underestimate your strength. [00:09:08] March out, engage them in battle, and put them to flight. [00:09:15] Alright, so we can see the map is looking absolutely splendid. [00:09:19] I'll say, look at this water. [00:09:21] I want to go for a swim is looking at it. [00:09:25] So yeah, quite nice graphics as well. [00:09:28] And you see the sand-colored things, the sand-colored map here is where you haven't explored yet. [00:09:35] So I suppose you can do that. [00:09:38] Then Achilles there with some of his troops. [00:09:46] So anyway, it looks quite nice. [00:09:49] Nice graphics, nice aesthetics also in the background. [00:09:53] If you look at the skyline there, it's made in the same artwork as we saw in the loading screen. [00:10:01] So yeah, good stuff, good stuff. [00:10:03] I just thought to show you that. [00:10:06] Now I will continue with aforementioned hectic schedule. [00:10:12] So if you haven't already done so, you can follow me on Instagram and Telegram if you want to keep updated on things and get book recommendations, etc. [00:10:22] So anyway, thank you for watching and have a great rest of your day.
