The Golden One - Marcus Follin - Biohacking and Health Update: Coffee and Intermittent Fasting Aired: 2020-04-20 Duration: 05:22 === Daily Coffee Ritual (04:52) === [00:00:02] A trusted friend told me that he misses the narcissism in my videos and I think he might have a point so I will try to be less humble. [00:00:13] I've been too humble as of late so I will start being a bit more narcissistic. [00:00:17] It is after all my way. [00:00:20] And speaking of which I want to remind you of something that I am in fact for you. [00:00:27] I was on Guide to Culture yesterday and we talked about Batman. [00:00:30] So yeah, I was in some bane posting mode. [00:00:33] So anyway, this is just a general health update. [00:00:37] If you've been following me on Instagram, you've seen that I've taken a few of my butter coffees. [00:00:43] I made a recipe on it last year for Gaines Kitchen. [00:00:45] I can link it below if you want. [00:00:47] So basically it's, you know, regular coffee and then a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of coconut oil. [00:00:55] So I've actually started having this every day now and I will get to the reason in a minute. [00:01:01] But I also wanted to make this video because I have talked about intermittent fasting and coffee before. [00:01:07] So this is sort of like an update for those videos. [00:01:10] You can find both videos on my channel if you search. [00:01:12] So basically intermittent fasting is something I've done over many years. [00:01:17] But since I have this butter coffee in the morning, it's technically not intermittent fasting anymore. [00:01:22] But since it is only fat, basically I'm still in ketosis. [00:01:26] So I still have that benefit at least. [00:01:28] But technically speaking, I'm no longer doing intermittent fasting simply because I have that coffee. [00:01:34] And to recap, the coffee video I made a while back, a year ago, I went off coffee for a few months, six months. [00:01:43] Then I started having a coffee each week. [00:01:46] And then I experimented a bit with how I perform best. [00:01:49] Is it a coffee once a week or once a day or something? [00:01:52] And I decided upon having a coffee once a day is the optimal. [00:01:56] And then I might have a pre-workout or perhaps a small coffee in the afternoon or something if I have slept poorly or something. [00:02:04] But back in the day, I used to have four or five coffees even in a day. [00:02:08] That was too much. [00:02:10] And so I decided to go off completely. [00:02:12] And now I have settled upon, yeah, one cup or perhaps two cups. [00:02:16] One big in the morning and one smaller in the afternoon. [00:02:20] Or a pre-workout. [00:02:21] You have Varl Sbrigd if you are in Sweden, of course, the best pre-workout on the market. [00:02:27] Now I will say also that if you do drink coffee in the morning, I personally, I wait one hour before drinking it. [00:02:34] So I wake up at maybe 7 or 8, then I wait an hour. [00:02:38] So if I wake up at 7, I drink it at 8 o'clock in the morning. [00:02:41] Because you already have quite a bit of cortisol when you wake up, especially if you expose yourself to some good light. [00:02:48] You will have those hormones working for you anyway. [00:02:51] So it's unnecessary to have the coffee the first thing in the morning. [00:02:54] So if you take your first cup, perhaps you're at your work or something, you can do your regular routine, get to work, have that coffee. [00:03:01] Or if you're working from home, just wait an hour until you have it. [00:03:05] And that's also really nice because then you have something to look forward to. [00:03:09] So that is my update on coffee. [00:03:11] Basically, one coffee each day. [00:03:13] That's how I perform best. [00:03:15] And that's also the best for my, you know, pleasure of life. [00:03:18] And that's also the main reason I'd say that I take this bulletproof coffee in the morning. [00:03:24] It's just something I enjoy so much. [00:03:26] It makes me feel so good as well. [00:03:28] It's something I look forward to. [00:03:29] And you know, as I posted on Instagram the other day, just having that coffee in the sun. [00:03:35] Yeah, true luxury. [00:03:36] True luxury indeed. [00:03:37] So that is why I use that coffee. [00:03:40] Pure bliss of life, so to speak. [00:03:43] And then I also feel, you know, my energy levels really, really solid and smooth throughout the day. [00:03:50] I will say though, if you are cutting or if you are If you can't afford so many calories, it is a lot of calories in this particular recipe. [00:04:00] So, be cautious if you're trying to get shredded, it might be better to just have a black coffee. [00:04:05] Um, so yeah, keep that in mind. [00:04:07] But for me, as I said in the beginning, I'm a big guy, so I have you know quite a bit of calories to spend to get up to my maintenance level. [00:04:15] And then, if I train and if I go on a walk, etc., I can spend even more. [00:04:19] So, for me, it is acceptable. [00:04:21] Um, I don't know if I will keep doing it when I start to get um shredded for the summer. [00:04:27] Time will tell, I will keep you updated. [00:04:29] So, yeah, that's basically how I am doing it right now. [00:04:32] Technically, not intermittent fasting anymore because I have a coffee, it just brings me so much joy and pleasure in my life. [00:04:37] So, I decided to keep it. [00:04:40] So, yeah, that's my health update. [00:04:42] And if you want training updates, you can head over to my Patreon or subscribe star. [00:04:47] I have just posted another neck routine if you want to become a human toad. === Become a Human Toad (00:28) === [00:04:54] I don't like pit bulls, so that's why I call it a human toad instead of a human pit bull. [00:04:58] If you wonder what kind of dogs I like, I like the more natural dogs, so a Siberian husky or a border collie or Australian shepherd or something like that. [00:05:06] But I don't like pit bulls, and I don't think any one of you like it either. [00:05:10] So, we say something else to you know have a thick neck instead of a pit bull. [00:05:14] Anyway, that is a completely different topic. [00:05:18] So, anyway, I'll see you on Patreon. [00:05:20] Have a great week ahead.
