The Golden One - Marcus Follin - My Colonial Addiction Had To Go: Quitting Coffee Aired: 2019-02-23 Duration: 04:25 === Quitting Coffee Routine (04:24) === [00:00:00] Hello lads, today I want to talk a bit about my colonial addiction. [00:00:05] So what I'm talking about here is coffee. [00:00:08] If you have been with me for quite some time you know that I am a big fan of coffee, of this colonial luxury good. [00:00:18] So basically I thought to make this video about three months ago but I always have so many video ideas so usually I say to myself that I will talk about something and then a lot of things come in between. [00:00:30] So yes we're a bit behind schedule here because I stopped drinking coffee on a regular basis at least in September last year. [00:00:40] So it's been quite a while and what I mean with quitting drinking coffee is that during the last seven years or so I had three or four cups of coffee every single day. [00:00:51] So that was my routine addiction as it were. [00:00:55] And I thought to myself, you know, this is not reasonable to do anymore. [00:01:00] So I stopped cold, which meant that I had one last cup of coffee during a Friday, I remember. [00:01:07] And then the Saturday after I had a tremendous headache. [00:01:11] So if you are thinking about quitting the coffee consumption, be prepared that at least one day will probably be quite hard in that regard. [00:01:22] The days after that I felt a bit sluggish but after that it was back to normal and then I felt regularly energized etc. [00:01:31] And one thing you will notice when you go off coffee as well that sleep yields much more and this makes perfect sense because if you drink coffee for a long period of time your brain will become dependent upon caffeine to stimulate the awakeness hormone in your brain. [00:01:51] I will link our video below so you can get the science behind coffee. [00:01:56] But anyway I thought to myself that since I'd been on it for so extremely long I thought you know why I'm gonna challenge myself where I'm gonna quit this addiction and see if it's any problem and it wasn't really a problem. [00:02:08] The first day was yeah as I said a bit unpleasant but it was good. [00:02:15] Anyway so what I did after that I waited about two months and then I started having one cup of coffee every Saturday and that yielded a tremendous effect I can tell you that much. [00:02:27] Then I was hyped the entire day. [00:02:29] Very good for video production because then I could just you know make three videos for one day just because I was so hyped from that cup of coffee. [00:02:38] So what I do now is that I have a cup of coffee every once in a while maybe three cups each week or something like that. [00:02:47] The thing also with coffee in Sweden that it's such a social thing that you have a filka which basically means that you have a coffee with someone and that is a social thing so it's not reasonable for me to cut it out completely but it is also not reasonable for me to drink it three or four times a day because it's unnecessary simply simply put. [00:03:08] And it's also a thing about the teeth. [00:03:10] That's actually something my dentist said that if you drink coffee with either sugar or milk, I drank it with milk, then you have the onset of carriers every time you drink it. [00:03:20] So now I drink the majority of times now I drink it black. [00:03:24] So that was also one thing, the teeth. [00:03:27] But yeah, mainly it was just I didn't want to feel addicted to something. [00:03:31] I wanted to you know let the sleep stand for the rejuvenation of the body each night. [00:03:38] So yeah that was my experience of quitting coffee. [00:03:42] If you're doing it yourself be prepared for maybe one day at least where you feel an unpleasant headache but after that it's it's fine after a week and then you're back to normal. [00:03:53] And then also even if you want to continue drinking coffee on a regular basis, I would still recommend that you go off every once in a while. [00:04:01] And going off being then that you don't drink for a week or so because then you reset the receptors in your brain. [00:04:07] So basically what we'll do going forward is that I will have a coffee every once in a while but not going back to the you know regular routine of drinking like three or four cups a day. [00:04:19] So that was just an update so you all know. [00:04:24] Exact so.
