The Golden One - Marcus Follin - Do I Recommend Assassin's Creed Odyssey? Part 10. Epic Leonidas Scene and Review Aired: 2019-01-20 Duration: 11:25 === Glorious Session Indeed (08:01) === [00:00:00] Greetings, Laddingtons. [00:00:02] I just got back from the Temple of Iron. [00:00:04] Had an excruciatingly glorious session. [00:00:07] Actually, did five repetitions at 220 kg in the deadlift. [00:00:12] All time PR feels goodman.jpg. [00:00:16] It might have something to do with the fact that it is full moon, but I will elaborate further on this in a coming video because I filmed the set two. [00:00:30] But let's get into the episode. [00:00:31] We are here at this heroic place. [00:00:35] Hello, mate. [00:00:38] Highly aesthetic. [00:00:39] Lion. [00:00:40] You can hear them. [00:00:43] Their final war cries before every last one of those brave Spartans perished. [00:00:50] Their voices were silenced that day, but their story will be sung for an eternity. [00:00:57] That is very true indeed. [00:01:01] Cattle die and kinsmen die. [00:01:03] But there is one thing I know which never dies, and that is the fame of a dead man's deads. [00:01:11] Tell me why we're here. [00:01:12] You didn't bring me here to talk about dead Spartans. [00:01:15] What's on your mind, Rothos? [00:01:18] The battle of Thermobile still echoes in our hearts, but to stand here is to feel it in your bones. [00:01:25] There is nothing here but ghosts. [00:01:27] My concerns are with the living. [00:01:30] Hold out your spear. [00:01:32] My spear? [00:01:33] What for? [00:01:34] I need to know something. [00:01:52] There he is. [00:01:54] glorious King Leonidas getting swarmed by the Persians. [00:04:01] An intense scene indeed. [00:04:04] Absolutely epic. [00:04:07] I'm fine. [00:04:08] I'm fine. [00:04:11] The stories are true. [00:04:14] That is the spear of Leonidas. [00:04:17] The hero's blade. [00:04:23] What happened to the traitor? [00:04:25] What happened to the traitor, Ephialtis? [00:04:28] King Xerxes paid him well, but treachery breeds treachery. [00:04:33] A contract was put on his head, and he died as he lived. [00:04:37] A coward. [00:04:42] Why was Sparta alone that day? [00:04:45] Where were Sparta's allies? [00:04:47] The Spartans weren't alone in facing Xerxes and his hordes. [00:04:51] Many from across the Greek world were armed and ready to fight alongside Leonidas and his 300. [00:04:58] But when the mighty king looked into their eyes and saw fear, he sent them home. [00:05:03] That sounds like madness, not bravery. [00:05:06] It was foretold by the Pythia that Sparta would lose either its freedom or its king to the Persians. [00:05:14] Leonidas made his choice. [00:05:18] That is an absolutely heroic choice. [00:05:22] What happened to Leonidas? [00:05:23] What happened to Leonidas after the battle? [00:05:26] Xerxes was famous for honoring warriors who fought valiantly against the Persians. [00:05:32] But Leonidas infuriated him so much, he cut off his head and impaled it on a pike. [00:05:39] A bloody battle ensued, and his remains were reclaimed by the Spartans and buried here. [00:05:46] Now, however, he rests where he belongs. [00:05:50] In Sparta. [00:05:54] You knew the spear would do that. [00:05:57] You knew this would happen. [00:05:59] I didn't know, but I did suspect. [00:06:02] There is a place I convinced myself was a dream. [00:06:06] Until now, a peculiar structure on the island of Andros. [00:06:11] Mysterious shapes carved in stone. [00:06:15] Like nothing I've ever seen. [00:06:17] You want to sail to Andros so you can show me shapes? [00:06:20] In my travels, I heard whispers of an ancient civilization. [00:06:25] A people who came before. [00:06:29] Your spear and that place are connected. [00:06:36] Who are the people who came before? [00:06:39] You mentioned the people that came before. [00:06:41] Who were they? [00:06:42] They were not gods, but they lived far longer than any mortal and were far more intelligent. [00:06:49] I've seen carvings in caves, strange symbols that suggest it was this ancient civilization that created humankind and provided them with fire. [00:07:00] But Zeus blamed Prometheus. [00:07:03] Yes. [00:07:04] Well, perhaps his eagle has been feasting on the wrong liver. [00:07:10] Alright, mate, let's go, champ. [00:07:12] We sail to Andros. [00:07:14] The spear awakened to you, Herodotus. [00:07:16] I trust you. [00:07:17] You understand. [00:07:20] I will do everything in my power to help you find your mother. [00:07:24] I promise. [00:07:25] But first, we must sail to the island of Andros. [00:07:29] I'll meet you at my ship. [00:07:37] Absolutely. [00:07:37] Aesthetic place. [00:07:38] Yes. [00:07:38] Yet again, that's because I'm such a fan of these sights. [00:07:45] And there she is, an absolute beauty of a ship. [00:07:50] So, um, indeed, he will, but uh, this wasn't part of my plan. === Thoughts on Recommending a Game (03:23) === [00:08:01] Alright, I utilized a little edit there because I thought about elaborating on whether I can recommend this game. [00:08:06] And Barnabas, the mad cunt, started talking, and then I got interrupted. [00:08:10] And then I didn't want to interrupt the game. [00:08:12] So I commenced a little edit, and here are my thoughts on whether I can recommend this game or not. [00:08:19] And I will say that it is a good game. [00:08:22] I have enjoyed playing it thus far. [00:08:24] I've played some offline, so to speak, as well, so that I haven't uploaded in a Let's Play. [00:08:31] But I would also say that it's very important that we give feedback to Ubisoft so they know that we don't particularly appreciate certain elements. [00:08:40] So, for example, something I probably thought was the most annoying thus far at least is the female bandit leaders, etc. [00:08:53] First and foremost, I don't really want to kill women even in battle, even in a video game. [00:08:58] It just feels wrong and it looks wrong and it's not historically accurate. [00:09:03] So, that is something I would definitely change. [00:09:05] I hope Ubisoft listens to the future to have it a bit less females involved in battle, etc. [00:09:15] Now, that being said, you can definitely have a lot of female characters doing regular female stuff. [00:09:20] There is plenty of intrigues, etc., that you can have storylines and quests revolving around. [00:09:27] But when it comes to the fighting, I'm not particularly a fan. [00:09:35] Then, there is an aspect of a few sexual semi-degenerate encounters also in the game. [00:09:44] I am not overly prude when it comes to that, even though I have a hard stance against porn, I don't really mind in in films and games if it is a bit of nudity and if it's a bit of um intimacy, etc. [00:09:55] But some um some of the scenes requests have been a bit a bit on the edge for uh my taste. [00:10:03] Not a big deal, though it's not game breaking, but uh uh something that perhaps could um could have been a bit less of. [00:10:12] And uh then in regards to the good things, obviously as we saw with the um Leonidas thing there, it's um highly aesthetic in that regard, you get a good sense of of history, even though there are parts that aren't really historically accurate, you still get a good sense of it, and uh especially the first episode that um we had a really cool opening. [00:10:36] So to give my verdict I can recommend it, but I don't think it's perfect. [00:10:41] If you haven't played any games but you want to start, I would probably recommend The Witcher Thrill before playing this game and then Skyrim obviously. [00:10:52] So there are games that are definitely better but since I am a fan of Assassin's Creed I thought this was a good idea to play this. [00:11:01] So anyway let me know in the comment sections if you want more episodes or if you want me to do Let's Plays on another game. [00:11:08] I do have Kingdom Come Deliverance so I might play an episode there to just show it off a bit. [00:11:16] So anyway thanks for watching and comment below if you what kinda game you would like me to see what kinda game you would like me to play next.
