My channel's main focus is on self improvement, bodybuilding, powerlifting, strongman, culture, gaming, books, politics etc.
Greetings, you proud sons of the old father, and welcome back to the Balkans and the year of 396 AD.
We're here with our Gothic hordes, and this is the second episode of my Ostrogothic campaign, which I am very excited to commence.
Now, last episode we raced this settlement because we were trapped by it, basically.
And then we saw here Legio Ex Gemina, led by the Western Roman Emperor Flavius Stilico.
And he is not a guy I want to tangle with at the moment.
So we're actually gonna withdraw a bit up here.
And if we look at our objectives, and now you can't see me, but you can hear me.
And I'm gonna utilize a glorious sip of Linwald's coffee now.
Coffee and gaming is an excellent combination.
Since we're gonna go with a minor victory, Dardania, Dalmatia, Pannonia are the regions which we are going to try to control.
So we're actually gonna move in this area and then I want Ravenna as well.
But I'm gonna wait until the Western Roman Empire are a bit weaker to do that.
So what I'm looking to do now is acquire these settlements, perhaps stay in horde mode for a bit longer because I would want to settle perhaps in these territories because I don't want to settle down in one of these little poverty settlements.
So we're gonna see what the crack is up here and continue to expand a bit.
Or alternatively, we could try to fight off these Romans because these two armies should be able to take this one and then take Salona.
But no, we're gonna go up here.
So this army.
And big shout out to Styrkir who pointed out that if the two hordes are in the same region they will see each other as rivals so it's better to have them in different regions.
So this obviously is a different region to this.
So there is the border.
So we're gonna take these guys and we're gonna measure up there should be a quarter of the distance left, I suppose.
Gonna go into stance encampment now.
These guys, with our beloved king, try to, and we're gonna see how far they can reach up to there.
So we're just gonna camp there then and do it like that.
Now let's build something fun, shall we?
Can't really really build anything.
Can we build anything here?
Warriors, all insufficient funds.
Can I build anything?
and we need surplus so okay we can't do anything at all How silly.
Oh well, let's recruit a conspirator.
Or a hunter perhaps.
Ah, that seems like a fun thing to do.
Can you actually join him directly?
No, you can't.
We're gonna see if we can you perhaps recruit anything.
No, obviously, it's a world worldwide effect on that.
And we can't recruit any but why okay, okay, cool.
We can raise new horde armies.
Yeah, still learning, I suppose.
How can I help?
Let's see if we can recruit some units though.
Germanic band and then we'll see what these guys decide to do.
Gonna create some more units there as well.
And let's also look at the diplomacy as well.
They are our true friends, actually.
Alright, cool.
Let's take the turn and see what crack is in all actuality.
It is time to talk like men of many things.
We can put aside swords for the time it takes to speak a word or two.
They offer us drunkard.
It makes me happier than you ever could, you bastard.
Okay, but we'll I'm sure my ostrogothic Bethrod to her will talk her out of that blasphemous behavior to drink alcohol.
And yes, our brothers, the Visigoths, let's and they're actually offering us.
Thank you for that.
That was a mighty fine gift of a young fair maiden in need of a husband.
And obviously to bring our two great hordes together.
And obviously back in the day, marriages were primarily political with little regard for love.
And I mean that's not all too unreasonable that two men and a woman has to sacrifice themselves for the better of the people.
And besides all these high-born nobles would have a quite happy life either way in contrast to perhaps the lower classes of society where the women were perhaps subject to more gruesome fates, especially in times of war.
You have recruited so many units, the treasury is buckling under the weight of their upkeep.
Capturing new territory would spread the cost, as well as putting your troops to good use.
Indeed, indeed.
Okay, you are still there.
Emperor.
Emperor bra.
I love that signal knife in the dark.
Hmm.
Is there nothing else?
Well, I mean, we could settle.
It was stupid of me to lay waste to that.
But if we do, like this, take these two settlements and then we have these guys are still there gonna approach these guys right there,
and these guys will then Salona decisions, decisions.
No, let us go beyond here with this army.
Let us do exactly, can actually sack Siskia on the way up and then continue up here.
Sack this settlement alrighty, then you can come forth here and see what the crack is right, and both are in forced stance mode, which is not the best for integrity, but that will um, that's cool, that's fine, for the moment at least.
Are ye honest warriors who will come to brothers eight?
Will you send your spears against these enemies or will we?
How much okay, I hope we don't will regret that
And obviously, a new DLC campaign is coming to Total War Attila, which I'm quite excited for.
Oh, look at that, the Roman Emperor left.
Yeah, I'm quite excited for that.
Actually then, playable factions are Ostrogoths Visigoths Franks, Vandals and the Eastern Roman expedition of Belisarus.
okay our allies have been attacked let's Ah no!
God!
Retreat my warriors!
Retreat!
Alright, we're safe.
Father be praised.
Now, the question remains.
I'm going to see if we can level a bit on these guys.
No, critical failure.
All right.
that is fine I suppose oh look at that we can research our technology upkeep minus 10% brilliant Warriors all!
Salona.
We want Salona.
Indeed we do.
So...
what I will do take some of these areas as well.
but no we're actually gonna settle right now that is better I think at least so let us take that little settlement
End your migration.
perhaps that was a silly mistake on my part perhaps I need a lot more money God I'm I'm a bit wishy-washy in this campaign I'm afraid but yeah since this is my very first time playing with a horde mechanism I'm not really sure but I suppose that you need more
That was not particularly much what we got out of that.
Northern Italy will probably be heavily guarded.
Alrighty, then integrity and growth, yes, settle you, and then we're gonna settle down in Salona and then obviously I'll try to take these two settlements.
So yeah, that is what I will do, and then I won't spend anymore cash.
all right and done yeah god I was very indecisive I will that's not a very admirable quality in a in a chieftain but it is what it is
maybe if I do another perhaps a Visigot campaign later on something I'll oh look at that they erased the settlement the bloody hunts maybe later on I'll know exactly what to do and where to settle etc the vandals starting position is hard or if it was yeah hard oh look at that Retreat!
Destination reached!
Ah no!
Alright then, let's fight it out.
All right then.
What do we do here?
Group you together there.
Missiles ready.
Heavy shot.
Armor piercing against the Romans there.
Brigands.
We're actually gonna keep the setup as it is right now and we'll react to what the Romans might do to us.
So, we're gonna let them advance.
These guys will try to take out their general.
See, we have a pretty solid base army here with a lot of missile units and gothic warband.
Love it.
Love it.
Let's admire them.
Some good arms there.
Juicy.
Juicy sick cunts, as it were.
I'll try to keep hidden here.
And we are actually in a very good starting position in this battlefield.
See, we're up on the glorious hill.
I suppose stay hidden here and stay hidden there.
And there as well.
I want to keep this hidden for as long as possible.
And then if possible get around to their general man of the north.
Oh, look at that.
And I'm gonna do like that.
Ah, look at that.
Well, let's admire the action.
They got butchered.
They got absolutely butchered.
This horseman that had the audaciousity to attack us.
Ah, look at that.
Hello, general.
our way to die, and let's get the general now.
Okay, they're reacting to it now.
Yes, come on.
Glory to the gothic nation.
Boom!
There we are.
Now kill them.
Kill them, you proud sons of the old father.
Ah, look at that.
It's burning in the background.
Chaos and AM.
it and obviously coming to tentes are a lot better than Our units.
Ah, that's not good.
They did not get the general.
Fuck.
I will.
Gothic Warband.
time to engage these guys okay we're gonna try to get around with our archers we have to get their general some way or the other and these guys will try to get around in flank here to get a good good shot on the enemy
Oh, there's the general.
All right, boys, get at him.
I wish we had perhaps saved some of the I wish we had additional cavalry forces I'd say because I I would do the same again.
Oh look at the mountains in the background there.
Let's admire that for a moment.
Look at that.
Love it. Love it.
Men of Germania.
Oh their general is breaking wonderful And yes, get at them.
Get at them boys.
We have unengaged troops here.
legio obviously are not something you really want to tangle with hopefully we can catch these guys also
And primary concern get their general God I hate missiles when they do like that Can I get the general oh brilliant, yes Enemy general, yes Come on and I must have this battle otherwise our empire is
It's dead before it even began, and this is the matter of the Warriors of Germania.
And we're gonna charge and we have this little fine feature and we can catch them with their spears right there Men of Germania.
I love that God.
I um yeah, they did a perfect job on Attila.
I really really hope that Attila will get more love so that Warhammer doesn't come in and completely takes it all over, takes all the attention away from it.
With that said, I do love Warhammer.
I've played Warhammer like the tabletop game since I was 14.
So I'm very excited for that as well, but I don't like the whole just rushing to the next thing all the time.
I don't like that kind of mentality.
So I hope they stay in Atila for a long time also.
Because this is the first total wargame.
I might said it before as well.
But first total wargame where I've actually enjoyed basically every single aspect of it.
It's a bit poorly optimized.
You can see it's almost lagging on my quite good computer.
The specifications of my computer is in my narcissist.se link by the way.
But yeah, the optimization of the game is probably the only thing I don't like with Attila.
But other than that, the siege battles are always entertaining.
And the politics is very interesting as well.
And obviously, new things like horde mechanisms, etc.
So yeah, big yet again, love Attila.
Looks like we have this battle.
I might edit the rest away when I chase them down.
Alrighty then.
I will end the battle now and edited a little part away there.
And yes, obviously Pyrrhic victory.
But look at the statistics for these guys.
Almost 300 each there.
Very glorious.
So yeah.
I'm gonna take on warriors.
13% plus in replenishment rate, which obviously is very good.
Okay, the king is back in Salona.
So let's not go there.
But perhaps they want to tangle with the Visigoths there.
Hmm.
Decisions, decisions.
It feels like I have to do something constructive in this.
Ah, no.
Alright, no.
We don't want to fight these guys at all.
We have nothing to gain from it.
So we're gonna retreat.
Nope, they don't.
Okay, cool.
They left over.
Flavius, notorious disease.
Mission issued.
Fight the Bastarnians.
Alright, cool.
We can actually upgrade these guys.
Let's do that.
To a Germanic band.
And perhaps it's unnecessary to antagonize them further.
We're kind of trapped there.
Between the Hans and the Romans.
But I'm taking Andy Jusigatis or however you wanna pronounce that.
I'm not sure.
Now, Steeds of Doom, what we could do is take our chances and settle down about here And get support from these guys and see what the Hans and these guys are up to.
I'm gonna upgrade you in all actuality.
And then we're gonna see if we can build something.
No, not really.
We can build with these guys though.
Nice.
We can actually take them on.
Oh, God.
That wasn't in our favor at all.
Okay, let's not do that.
Let's get settled, lads.
We're gonna upgrade to tent camp.
But then again, we don't wanna spend that much more money.
We need money if we're gonna settle, otherwise, we'll be poor.
And the blasphemous thing here is that I'm not sure what to do at all.
I might actually go down and raid these territories a bit.
Perhaps give Macedonia their freedom worthy cause.
Let's perhaps recruit some units before I end this episode.
And what we need two more of those guys, and then we'll turn down this way.
So perhaps sack some of these settlements and then come up again to see what the status is of all these territories.
There is so much chaos and mayhem in Norikum and obviously in Venetia, so I suppose the Romans will not just lay flat yet.
We're gonna look at the diplomacy for just a little while.
The Hunts do not waste time better spend hunting.
They okay, it is improving actually that much is nice.
And how about you guys?
Deteriorating.
No, you don't really like us anyway.
In any way, shape or form.
Okay, cool.
So I suppose I will end the episode right there.
And then as always, thank you very much for watching.
Always a pleasure.
one last thing the lord guides my steps i could be of further help okay look at that And Aquilia is actually up for grabs.
Okay, cool.
Thank you very much for watching and talk to you next time.
