The Golden One - Marcus Follin - Battle of Frigidus. Total War: Attila Aired: 2015-05-15 Duration: 14:41 === Battle Of The Phrygius River (09:26) === [00:00:09] Greetings you, proud sons of Rome. [00:00:13] Today we're gonna do God's work and I thought this battle would be very interesting. [00:00:19] Considering how much I've been talking about Christianity versus Paganism, and as it is a reoccurring theme, I thought that the Battle Of The Phrygius River would be very appropriate for me to play, as I am on the wrong side, as it were, since I am a Pagan myself. [00:00:37] But, as I always say, like I have a lot of true friends who are Christians and you can be a true friend and a Christian as well. [00:00:43] And as always, I will remind you all that I have my no less than two necklaces necklace I don't know how you say it, really they have a cross and the all father himself. [00:00:57] It's one necklace I have. [00:00:59] The other one is you've seen this before the hammer of Thor and the cross of the Christians. [00:01:12] So the Phrygius River I've actually played it on very hard already. [00:01:17] I will just go with hard now, because it is much, much harder to be interactive and to make a cool let's play than when you're just by yourself and playing. [00:01:29] So that's the reason for it and that's also the reason sometimes my performance isn't isn't the best when I play ladies, but as you see here, conflict arose within the Roman Senate due to the Christianization of the Empire. [00:01:44] After gaining power in the West, Flavius Eugenius appointed pagan senators to key positions in the government. [00:01:52] Taking umbrage Teodesius, Emperor of the East, attacked at the Phrygidis River. [00:01:58] And now obviously Teodosius was a devout Christian, so he couldn't have none of that pagan paganism. [00:02:09] And then also I I'm merely speculating now, but I suppose it was a bit of a show off between the Eastern Roman Empire and the Western Roman Empire, where the Eastern Romans tried to solidify their power as the the better of the two. [00:02:26] So we're gonna go into the battle right now. [00:02:31] And you see they are. [00:02:33] We have Visigothic allies, but they outnumber our Romans. [00:02:39] So we're gonna start the battle right now for God himself. [00:02:45] alright let's enjoy this cinematic true friends pagan sympathizer Eugenius leader of the Western Empire contests the Christianization of Rome the Eastern Emperor Theodosius I a devout Christian has marched an army from the east to challenge Eugenius Theodosius legions are bolstered by his Visigothic allies led by their chieftain Alaric Alaric the Glorious [00:03:15] The two sides finally clash on the banks of the Frigidus River. [00:03:19] The future of the Empire will be decided on this battlefield. [00:03:24] Alright, highly glorious indeed. [00:03:27] Let's take a moment to admire the Visigoths first. [00:03:37] Look at this, the crack units of the Visigoths. [00:03:42] And we will actually do like this. [00:03:45] The key to this battle is taking out the General Eugenius the Glorious. [00:03:54] Now, the fun thing here is I would actually rather have been the pagans, but I'm doing it for my Christian true friends. [00:04:00] And I actually have a Christian true friend who is studying to be a priest. [00:04:05] So, Josef Edwal, big shout out to you, much love from your semi-pagan friend here. [00:04:13] But I will make you make all my Christian true friends also shout out the patriarchy at Facebook. [00:04:20] So, this is for you guys. [00:04:24] But let's not get overconfident now. [00:04:26] We will try to win this battle here as well. [00:04:33] And the key to that lies within taking out the general. [00:04:37] So, I'm gonna send out my own cavalry in all actuality to try to, as usual, take out him as soon as soon as possible. [00:04:49] A lot of SS there. [00:04:51] Hard for a Swedish guy to pronounce. [00:04:55] Also, Alaric I is our Visigothic ally. [00:04:59] And I've actually thought about naming one of my sons Aularik. [00:05:06] Really cool name. [00:05:07] Now, it isn't a common Swedish name or anything, but if it ends with Rik, it can be quite common indeed. [00:05:16] Frederick is a common enough Swedish name, actually. [00:05:21] And I know a guy called Gutrik, also. [00:05:24] Very, very cool. [00:05:27] And then another one of my sons called Gustav. [00:05:31] In all actuality. [00:05:32] A lot of Swedish kings bear that name. [00:05:37] So I'm going to speed up the gameplay just a bit now. [00:05:41] And they are responding to my advances there. [00:05:51] And we're going to let the Visigoths take the runt there. [00:05:56] And we're just going to sneak up behind them. [00:06:01] And see what crack is. [00:06:06] Okay, cool. [00:06:08] Their general is. [00:06:12] Alright, let's speed them up. [00:06:16] Not the gameplay per se, because this will be crucial. [00:06:21] Utilize heavy shots and on you as well. [00:06:29] And go time now, brothers for God himself! [00:06:37] No, get at him, boys. [00:06:45] I'll corn him. [00:06:46] Get at him, boys. [00:06:49] Heavy melee cavalry. [00:06:51] And the key to the battle lies within taking out this general. [00:07:00] Ah, there we are. [00:07:01] Come on now. [00:07:03] Glory to Roman! [00:07:05] to God in heaven. Glory. [00:07:15] And now it would be prudent to walk in with the rest of my troops here. [00:07:26] But as I said, the key to the battle lies here. [00:07:32] Okay, they're getting a lot of support there from their infantry. [00:07:37] I'm still rocking my barbarian beard. [00:07:40] It would probably have been more suitable, I mean, if I was clean shaven, as according Roman ideals I'm gonna try to get. [00:07:57] Get him. [00:07:59] Don't you flee now. [00:08:01] Come on, Aeginis. [00:08:03] The punishment of God will be upon thee. [00:08:10] Let's admire when he dies now. [00:08:13] Yes, glory to God in heaven. [00:08:20] His false gods could not stop him. [00:08:24] Save him. [00:08:25] I mean obviously, their pagan gods could not stop the true father god. [00:08:38] I'm feeling a bit bad here to to slay my, my pagan brothers like this actually. [00:08:44] Okay, so this went better than expected. [00:08:47] This we should have. [00:08:48] The battle now in all actuality should not be that much of a hustle when, when the general is dead, because that is the case when in Total War, that you get the general, and that's, that's good. [00:09:06] It's really good, because when, when you lose your leader, you you don't know what to do and the morale is breaking. [00:09:17] Now, what Alexander The Great did that was what made him so lovely always led the charge, so the men could draw inspiration from that. [00:09:27] He led from the front, did not ask anything of his soldiers that he wasn't willing to do himself, and that obviously is is inspiring. === Winning Battles and Videos (05:05) === [00:09:35] So it's good that they've taken that kind of psychological thing into the game. [00:09:45] So that they aren't totally immune to psychology, as it were, and they'll try to chase those guys. [00:09:57] So we're gonna, now that we have basically the game, the battle in our, in our pocket I won't say that yet, but you can admire the action of it stand firms. [00:10:25] It would be embarrassing if I lose now, when I talked about winning here, but no, I should have this. [00:10:36] And this is about as Christian I get. [00:10:40] But I will create, I will start a new campaign with the Western Roman Empire. [00:10:47] That that's just something I want to do. [00:10:50] And for me to have a, a good YouTube channel, I need to do what I, what I want to do myself, and no, Alaric has been struck down how, how blasphemous, blasphemy. [00:11:13] So, and I'm really pumped up for that. [00:11:15] I realize that there's probably a higher demand for other things on my channel, but You know, it's rather me playing that just by myself because I want to do it. [00:11:29] I love Total War. [00:11:31] I've played Total War since I was 14, that's 11 years ago. [00:11:36] So I really want that and I hope people can at least sense my excitement for it. [00:11:52] So that's actually what's up. [00:11:54] But... [00:11:54] But if you are more into my other videos, like I try to make a lot of videos regarding everything, so it's not the case that I'm ever taking time out of other videos to make gaming videos or anything like that. [00:12:09] And for me to make this historical Let's Plays, like for this battle, for example, I genuinely had no clue before I opened up Attila and said to myself, like, okay, cool, let's make a Let's Play. [00:12:26] I had no idea about the Frigidus River. [00:12:28] I had no idea that the Western and Eastern Roman Empire actually clashed in open battle. [00:12:34] And that's something I really enjoy with gaming as well, that you learn so much. [00:12:40] So that's glorious. [00:12:44] That's really glorious. [00:12:45] I love that. [00:12:45] I'm gonna speed up the gameplay now. [00:12:47] So we got this victory. [00:12:53] Cool, cool. [00:12:54] wonderful and um as i might have said like i i do try to this is a learning experience for me as well to concentrate on two things at the same time To concentrate on actually winning the battle and being talkative. [00:13:13] So that is progression in all farms. [00:13:19] And I am looking at my beard right now. [00:13:23] Don't know for how much more I will have it. [00:13:26] Perhaps it should have been more suitable if I made a barbarian campaign, let's play with a beard, and then when I'm Romance, I switch back to the clean shave again. [00:13:35] But we'll see. [00:13:37] I'll shave it, I mean, during the summer. [00:13:42] All right, let's boom. [00:13:51] The last remnant. [00:13:55] In God's name! [00:13:57] For God Himself! [00:14:00] Highly glorious. [00:14:02] Okay, there you go. [00:14:03] To all of my Christian tree friends. [00:14:05] I dedicate it to you. [00:14:08] Alright, wonderful. [00:14:10] Cool. [00:14:10] Close victory. [00:14:11] Theodosius, Alaric and Eugenius. [00:14:14] An epic clash. [00:14:16] So thank you very much for watching. [00:14:17] Feel free to come with any comments that might be fun for me to read. [00:14:22] Otherwise, drop a like if you have liked the video. [00:14:27] And as I said, more videos of everything is coming. [00:14:34] And who am I? [00:14:37] I'm the Germanic general of the Roman Empire.
