Today I want to discuss the dad bod trend that has been requested quite a few times by you all.
So here it goes.
Let me first of all elaborate a bit on with trends and everything.
The pendulum always swings.
So we had a good few years of fitness frenzy as it were.
And now it turns back to not caring about fitness.
So people want to be a bit unique and rebellious and go against the trend.
So now the mainstream thing has been to be into fitness and now they rebel and go against it.
But that's for another topic.
Now I want to talk about the dad bod per se and the articles I've seen about it mainly elaborates on what women find this attractive or this is how you're gonna look to be attracted to the ladies during the summer.
And let me elaborate a bit on that regarding lifting for women.
Like what you have to realize.
Like no I'm not gonna sit here and say like oh I never care about women what they think etc.
Obviously I want to look good for my girl and be well trained, well mannered, well dressed for her but to think that any guy who's serious about reaching physical perfection is doing it to appease the ladies, that's that's absurd and laughable.
I'm sorry girls, but that's just the way it is.
Like you don't have a guy who's been in the gym for more than a year who is still training to appease ladies.
Perhaps some guys go into the gym when they're young with a mindset like okay cool I'm gonna have a bit of a bigger gunch or abs or anything like that.
But when you when you're into it you you don't really think about that.
It's not the case that I've ever gone into the gym like okay foi milin I'm gonna be a fucking beast in the gym I'm gonna deadlift hard and heavy.
Like I'm not gonna do that to think like oh now girls will find me attractive like that's that's absurd and I think I speak for the vast majority of guys who've been in the gym for more than a year or so.
So for me when I hear those sort of arguments like this is what women like this is what is attractive and sexy like it's it's it's nothing to do with that like I don't try to reach physical perfection because of that just as I don't read books to appease ladies I'm trying to reach mental perfection and physical perfection.
Awesome book by the way.
Let's talk a bit about the merits of the dad bod trend and like obviously yeah it isn't sexy to be a fanatic.
It isn't.
But it can be very useful to be a fanatic for a certain period of your life.
I had my fitness fanatic period like two years ago and good god I was shredded back then.
And I'm thankful for that I had that time in my life where I was you know ultra fanatic with everything.
I didn't leave anything to chance.
But now two years later I'm a bit more relaxed because I know where to focus, what to focus on and what not to fuss too much about.
So for me like now I can have a bottle of wine with my girl.
I can have a rule torta with my boys.
That's a Swedish pastry.
It's all about timing it and making it sustainable.
Can I have a bottle of wine with my girl every night if I'm having a photo shoot in three weeks?
No I cannot.
Can I have it once every month or twice every month?
Yeah I can.
Can I have five rule tortas daily with my boys as pre-workout?
No perhaps not.
That would not leave that much room for other better foods for me to indulge in.
Can I have it during the Saturday pre-workout watching a pre-workout film?
Yeah definitely.
It will grant me you know some good pump in my body.
So you tend to when you when you have been a fanatic when you've been there you know what was really important and what was not important.
So for me right now I'm you know quite quite content, quite happy.
I'm cutting right now but aren't really affected mentally by it because I know where to put the focus and the focus is not in obsessing in every little detail.
So to conclude that thought like I do genuinely believe that you should have a fanatic period but then you also have to know when you leave it so you don't always like year round go and obsess overly much about something such as counting every little macro here and eating ultra clean all the time.
Like make it it might sound gay but balance in life is actually good and you should utilize more of it and know what counts and what not counts.
And what I would like to say to more, you know, to the general population, like you should train in the gym, you should lift weights.
That's only positive.
But just because you lift weights and go into the gym doesn't mean that you need to be a fanatic when it comes to your diet.
But like just go into the gym.
You don't have to embrace the whole lifestyle.
You will get better results by embracing the whole lifestyle.
And as I said, if you're really serious, if you're a younger guy listening to this, like in your early 20s or something, have that fanatic period.
Do it by all means.
I've learned so fucking much during my fanatic period.
You know, with mind games, hunger control, how to motivate yourself, everything like that.
So for me, it's brilliant.
But if you're just a regular guy in your 30s, like and don't aspire to have the sickest physique possible, then just go into the gym.
But then if you want to have a beer with your boys during the evening, yeah, sure, fine, do it.
And lastly, I can also see why it would be attractive for a lot of people to adopt a more lazy attitude to stuff because it's, you know, fun to drink beer and eat a lot of shit as it were.
And also obviously more attractive to women that you don't overly obsess of everything all the time.
You know, to have a bit more chill attitude to life.
But then again, like I have a really chill attitude to life right now.
I just have to pick my moments.
So obviously everyone knows that I can't binge every day.
But I can fit in my real tot or my bottle of wine every now and then.
So it becomes a balanced life.
But then to say a few final words, like obviously I don't ever condone over celebrating decadent body ideals.
I think every young man and woman should strive for physical perfection because you learn a lot along the way.
Much more can be said about a topic but I just wanted to make this video really quick right now.
