[00:02:15] Selling. [00:02:16] We talk about generations. [00:02:19] We talk about- We talk about mental health awareness. [00:02:22] Yes, this is kind of, you know what? [00:02:24] Low-key? [00:02:25] This is a mental health awareness episode. [00:02:27] Yeah. [00:02:28] It's a little out of pocket. [00:02:30] I like it. [00:02:30] Yeah, I liked it too. [00:02:32] I was a little nervous because I feel like I'm just so used to making other people aware of their mental health that to me, this was a bit of a change. [00:02:40] But no, this was, I feel, I had a good time doing this. [00:02:42] Yeah, so let's get into it. [00:02:56] All right, ladies and gentlemen, we have with us today inside the bunker Brad Phillips, an artist and a writer who wrote a book that I really liked called Fiction and Essays or Essays and Fiction? [00:03:11] The last one. [00:03:12] Essays in Fiction. [00:03:13] Well, they're both both words are in there. [00:03:14] Because you didn't like it that much. [00:03:16] Well, anyway, I'm not looking at the cover. [00:03:20] I know, yeah, I do have it with me because I was checking before we fucking recorded. [00:03:25] Hello, welcome to the show. [00:03:26] Thanks for having me. [00:03:28] Thanks for coming down here. [00:03:29] Thank you. [00:03:30] So I want to talk to you. [00:03:32] I brought you on the show, or bringing you on the show basically, because there's a couple of things in the book I found pretty curious. [00:03:38] One was, I think it's called Proposal for a Medical Memoir. [00:03:41] Yep. [00:03:42] It's an essay, or that one qualifies as an essay. [00:03:44] Yeah, they're all short stories. [00:03:46] Yeah, okay. [00:03:46] Well, it's an essay-like short story. [00:03:48] Okay. [00:03:49] And basically, it's about being nuts and all fucked up. [00:03:53] That's correct. [00:03:54] Would you say that that is the case? [00:03:56] I agree. [00:03:56] Yeah. [00:03:57] And there's a lot in it about what you call somatoform disorders. [00:04:02] Somatoform disorders. [00:04:03] Yeah. [00:04:04] Did you know about this? [00:04:05] Yeah. [00:04:06] I mean, we've kind of talked a little bit about them sort of on the show. [00:04:10] I feel like the TikTok. [00:04:12] Yeah, when we were talking about it. [00:04:13] Did you know about TikTok disorders and kind of like, I don't know how else to like, they're like basically internet-diffused, like psychiatric presentations of things like Tourette's. [00:04:29] Yeah. [00:04:29] But people who certainly don't have Tourette. [00:04:33] But then do they? [00:04:33] So we've kind of, that's like more like functional, I guess what you would call like functional disorders. [00:04:38] Yeah. [00:04:39] But we haven't really talked specifically about the phenomenon, which is like increasingly becoming, I don't know, this sounds like a very Trump thing. [00:04:47] More and more, being recognized more and more. [00:04:50] Yeah. [00:04:51] Yeah. [00:04:52] I don't know what's going on, but I don't, like, I don't look at TikTok.
