True Anon Truth Feed - [PREVIEW] Episode 204: Inflation Nation Aired: 2022-02-05 Duration: 04:53 === Another Country's Currency (02:47) === [00:00:00] Elizabeth, I want to tell you about a really good way to make money that I found. [00:00:06] So, a long time ago, I just found this out. [00:00:09] A long time ago in America, there was actually another country. [00:00:12] A lot of people don't know this. [00:00:14] It was mostly the southern part of the regular country. [00:00:18] For some reason, for a little while, it was a different country. [00:00:21] And then, listen, I don't really care what I'm not like too much interested in the history of it as to what that history produced, right? [00:00:30] So, during that time that these states were part of a different country called the Confederacy, they started printing their own money, right? [00:00:41] Called Confederate money. [00:00:43] Well, they called it something different, but it's kind of colloquially known as Confederate money. [00:00:47] Greenbacks. [00:00:48] Greenbacks, exactly. [00:00:50] So, what I've been doing is I've been buying a bunch of Confederate money. [00:00:56] In fact, spending almost all of my regular quote, American money, union money is what they actually used to call it on Confederate money. [00:01:06] So, that's mostly what I have now. [00:01:10] It is technically fiat, which to me, I think, just means something that's made out of paper. [00:01:15] It is a fiat type currency. [00:01:18] And so, I have this. [00:01:19] If there's ever, if they, because this is the other part of this, this is the real key part. [00:01:25] All the people who made that money before they went away for whatever reason, they were like, We're going to do this again. [00:01:31] They were, in fact, they kept saying that we're actually going to rise again and make this country again. [00:01:35] And so if they do that and I have all of their money, I'll literally be president of their central bank. [00:01:55] All right. [00:02:07] Liz has informed me that there's some logistical problems maybe with that idea and that people might get mad at me if I do that. [00:02:14] But I promise I'll take a lot of workshops and I'll make it a really good central bank, equal opportunity lender. [00:02:23] Oh my God. [00:02:24] Hello, everyone. [00:02:25] Hello. [00:02:26] I'm Liz. [00:02:27] My name is, check this one out. [00:02:29] I came up with a new one: Colin Goyles. [00:02:34] Wait, I don't think that's like that one, Colin Girls. [00:02:38] Oh, I see. [00:02:39] Colin Goyles. [00:02:40] Yeah, that's kind of funny. [00:02:41] I thought of that one. [00:02:42] I thought of that one. [00:02:42] And Warren Iraq. [00:02:45] That one's stupid. [00:02:46] That one's good, I think. === Fed Raises Interest Rates (02:05) === [00:02:48] No. [00:02:49] My name is Paul Smulker. [00:02:52] I am. [00:02:56] You love that one. [00:02:58] Love Pole Smoker. [00:02:59] They could have ended the recession if someone had just said that to him. [00:03:03] Yeah. [00:03:05] And the podcast, of course, we are joined by Hyong Chomsky, the statistics chief for the country of Turkey, the Republic of Turkey, excuse me, and producing this podcast as a sideline because his lira is worth no more. [00:03:20] And we are called Truanon, and we're taking you a little rocket ship to Planet Money. [00:03:28] Yeah, hello, everyone. [00:03:30] We haven't talked about money in a while, funny money. [00:03:34] So we're doing it now. [00:03:36] And we're doing it for a reason because the Fed, your favorite institution, the federal bank, is back in the news. [00:03:45] Yes. [00:03:47] You mean the private institution, the federal bank? [00:03:50] That basically, I mean, unelected? [00:03:53] It is unelected. [00:03:54] Yes. [00:03:55] I'm just, I mean, these are all true. [00:03:58] Why is it back in the news other than I've only been reading ronpaul.com? [00:04:04] It's back in the news because Jay Powell, Jay Powell with three W's, as he's so affectionately called, came out last week and announced that he would be that the Federal Bank was going to, the Federal Reserve was going to raise interest rates because everyone's been freaking out about dang inflation. [00:04:28] Okay. [00:04:29] So say there's a guy who spent most of his life, well, frankly, he can't think of it, what he's done for most of his life now. [00:04:37] It's kind of having an existential crisis. [00:04:39] Say that he didn't pay attention enough to understand what any of that means. [00:04:44] Why would they be raising interest rates? [00:04:47] So they're raising interest rates because the economy has been running a little hot.
