Brad and Dan begin by discussing the case of Aaron Rodgers, who was recently found out not to have been vaccinated. They discuss the various components at play in the case--from becoming an anti-vaxxer wiithout realizing it, to blaming the "woke mob" for cancel culture, and the politics of scientific authority. This leads to a discussion of Ted Cruz's criticism of Big Bird's immunization. Yes, Big Bird.
Staying with Ted Cruz, Brad and Dan then analyze how and why our nation's freeways and other structures were built via segregationist and racist ideals. Given that the infrastructure package will mean money for investing in roads, bridges, and other projects, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has said that rectifying these wrongs is part of his agenda. While Cruz criticized him, history shows he has no case.
Brad and Dan finish with comments on vigilantism, law and order, and the ways White men take it upon themselves to instill order when they feel the law isn't doing what they want.

Welcome to Straight White American Jesus.
My name is Brad Onishi, faculty at University of San Francisco.
Our show is hosted in partnership with the Kapp Center, UCSB.
I'm here today with my co-host.
I'm Dan Miller, Associate Professor of Religion and Social Thought at Landmark College.
Good to see you as always, Brad.
Yeah, we are.
We're in that part of the semester where everyone is tired.
And if we had a kind of rational system, we would all like have a break right now and then come back and do three or four weeks to the end of the semester.
But we don't.
We have Thanksgiving break in this country, which, you know, I don't even want to get into that debate.
But it means, Dan, that as university professors, if we know everybody needs the break now, but we're going to take the break in two weeks, then come back for one week and finish the semester.
And I get angry about it every November, and my classes have to hear the rant, And it's a great way to talk about how you don't think you live by a myth, huh?
Well, you do live by a myth.
It's called the Thanksgiving myth, and you're going to go home and celebrate it, even though none of you believe in it.
But if you don't, mom and grandma will yell at you, and so you're going to do it.
Anyway, I have a whole curriculum on that.
If anyone would like nine hours of me yelling about Thanksgiving and myths, please email me and I'll send you that for a very low price on Venmo.
Okay, Dan, we've got, I think, a whole show with no January 6th content because we have a whole show where we need to talk about Big Bird, NFL quarterbacks, and Cancun Ted Cruz.
So, Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
He has been a quarterback for them for over a decade.
One of the best players in the NFL, on state farm commercials, and recently, It's been uncovered that he did not get the vaccine, as he claimed to, and he's had some pretty interesting responses to this whole set of events.
So, Dan, not only are you our COVID connoisseur—that came out wrong—you are the person who talks about COVID and vaccines quite often.
You're also our NFL Beat Reporter.
We all wear a lot of hats here at Straight White American Jesus.
So one of Dan's is NFL Beat Reporter.
Take us through Aaron Rodgers and what happened with the vaccine and his comments.
And we got Joe Rogan in the mix.
It's going to be a wild ride, everybody.
So buckle up.
So first, I just wanted to congratulate Brad for that, you know, good NFL background.
Cause I know that that's, that's not his sport of choice, league of choice.
I know all about all kinds of things, Dan Miller.
I contain multitudes.
I know all about the NFL.
I know all about a lot of things.
What do you want to talk about?
19?
I'm the guy at the party.
19th century French novels.
I'm your guy.
Okay.
NFL?
Brad Onishi is Legion.
Yes, that's right.
Renaissance man.
What can I tell you?
Yeah, so the way this works is, first of all, the NFL does not have a vaccine mandate, right?
There is some misunderstanding in my view of some of this.
So players in the NFL don't have to be vaccinated, but players who aren't vaccinated have to follow a different set of protocols than players who are vaccinated.
And those protocols were agreed upon by the league and the players union and all this other stuff in the preseason so back in like maybe it was August something like that in an interview uh you know press it wasn't just an interview with with Aaron Rodgers it was like appearances from players to the press pool and things like that they asked Aaron Rodgers if he'd been vaccinated and he says I've been immunized Turns out that he had not taken the vaccine, any of the vaccines.
He had gone after some things that have not been disclosed, different kinds of holistic treatments and things like this that were supposed to boost his immune system and so forth.
His team knew this.
The league knew this.
He and his people apparently petitioned to the league to have this work in lieu of a vaccine.
It did not.
Um, so the league has known this and so forth.
So it came out recently that, uh, just a few days ago that he tested positive for COVID and because he's not vaccinated, that's a different protocol as well.
Um, I should also point out that as an unvaccinated player, he'd been tested, I believe daily, like all, all, all league or all season long.
Why does this matter?
It matters because, you know, it turned into this big thing.
He missed a game for the team.
But it's also because Aaron Rodgers is kind of a notable NFL player.
He's considered to be kind of one of the best spokespeople for the league.
As you mentioned, he's really, really good.
He's the reigning league MVP.
He's dating Shailene Woodley, I know Dan, because that's what I know all kinds of things.
He used to date Danica Patrick, so, you know.
Brad Onishi is legion, right?
And people who want the biblical reference can go look that up.
Brad Onishi's demonic levels of knowledge.
Anyway.
