Hey guys, well I'm here with my favorite doctor, Dr. Mark Sherwood here today.
And guess what I just got?
It is a giant box of a Kingdom Crunch cereal, his new line of cereal called Kingdom Crunch.
And this particular flavor is Acai Bowl.
And let me tell you, it is so good.
So, so, so, so, so tasty and delicious.
But besides being so tasty, I have Dr. Sherwood here to tell us why it's so good for you too and why it's so amazing and should be in everyone's cupboard.
So what's up with this incredible cereal that you sent me that I can't stop eating, Dr. Sherwood?
Well, many times when we hear the word cereal, we think unhealthy, poisonous, chemical, carcinogenic.
You shouldn't be eating it.
That is quite the opposite.
High protein, zero added sugars, organic ingredients and healthy fats, such as medium trained triglycerides.
Deanna, that should be in everyone's cupboard, in every child's mouth, every day.
That is truly healthy and life- giving for kids.
I recommend it all the way.
Not because I made it, but because it solves a real problem in today's world.
Excuse me, I can't stop eating it, but I gave it to my son Maverick, who also loves cereal, but I don't want him to eat cereal except for this.
This is really, really good.
It's really tasty, it actually smells like real acai in your mouth.
And it's packed full of all these nutrients and no sugar, right?
No added sugar.
That's insane.
How is it so sweet then?
Yeah, we used stevia.
Okay.
Monk fruit and some allulose there.
All of which, get this.
These are diabetic friendly.
They won't raise blood sugar, Which is another benefit.
I've had people ask me, can I eat that if I'm diabetic?
Yes, you can, and you can fix your diabetes.
Yay, awesome.
Well, this is so good.
Where can everyone find this Kingdom French cereal?
On the internet.
They can find it at Sherwood.TV forward slash shots and use your discount code to promo code shots.
Promo code shots and they can save some money off there and support your program.
Absolutely.
Promo code shots.
All right, go to Sherwood.TV promo code shots and pick up this delicious Kingdom French cereal today.
Welcome back to Shots Fired.
All right, well, we Americans, especially MAGAs and MAGAs and Trump supporters, or even some former Trump supporters, are painfully aware of the Epstein saga that has rolled out in front of our eyes and computer screens over the last couple of months.
And the actions, or rather, inactions, of President Trump and the DOJ and undelivering of their promises to bring exposure and full accountability to Epstein and his victims.
It's just been seeming more and more like a massive cover up.
Trump is involved too.
We can't deny it at this point.
He doesn't want these files revealed to the public.
He doesn't want know exactly why.
We might speculate, but we don't know why.
But what's really concerning is that the victims never get a voice and it's covering up for a massive pedophile ring that spans all over the world, especially, essentially, with high profile leaders and representatives, world leaders, et cetera.
So Epstein himself, it's not the person that we're so upset about.
It's what he represents.
And that's this injustice, lack of accountability and especially the abuse and torture of children.
And we see this on, you know, such a public level with Jeffrey Epstein, but what about on a kind of a smaller scale level or the people, the pedophiles that are not so public?
And what are we actually doing about them and to catch them or potentially help that problem?
Well, Alex Rosen is known as the Pedo Hunter and he runs an incredible YouTube channel and company basically catching pedophiles, stinging them, setting up sting operations and catching them, leading to charges pressed and arrests for many of them across the country.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Right.
So I had to get rid of it.
So what were the youngest ages on the Mega Links?
That's a hard one, dude.
Like I said, probably around 10, maybe grade school.
Okay.
So basically, I'm going to tell you what we have saved right here.
I'm about to pull up the youngest video you watched.
It's on my phone.
What do you think that video is?
And I'm not saying you got off to it, but just viewing something.
I think I saw a mom with one of her kids that was probably maybe two or three.
Two or three.
Yeah.
What was the mom doing to the kid?
Like oral sex, I think the kid was.
And he joined us a while ago on Shots Fired, but I want to bring him back just because it's so relevant right now.
We need to know, kind of, from his perspective, what's happening in the world of catching pedophiles, real pedophiles, and will justice ever be served?
So Alex Rosen, the Pedo Hunter, it's so great to have you back on the show.
First, tell, if someone is not familiar with you and your work, your incredible work and mission, just give a quick rundown as to what you do.
Yeah, so my name is Alex Rosen, and we have a group called Predator Poachers where we catch online child predators across the country.
We have arrests of sexual predator arrests in 48 different states, convictions in 42 of those states.
And, yeah, typically we pose minors online and predators from across the country message us under the assumption we're minors, and we go get them after that.
That's amazing.
So you set up these sting operations, and they kind of fall right into your hands and right into your operation.
And then you go out there and you set them up and you catch them.
And it's not just like a fun, like a YouTube entertaining viral moment, which they are a lot of times because you record your operations and you put them out on.
on your YouTube channel and social media, but they're not just entertainment.
They actually lead to real arrests?
Yeah, they do.
So at this point, we have over two hundred convictions nationwide.
Our most recent state with a conviction is the state of Vermont.
Surprisingly, they convicted someone of a crime.
And we that was a multi time sex offender, who we caught, Christopher Camp.
We caught him in 2023, finally got convicted in July of this past year, or July of this year.
And he's only getting a year in jail for it.
And while he was out on bail for our bus where we caught him with tons of child pornography, he again messaged another minor and got arrested for that.
We had nothing to do with that.
And all for all that, he's only getting a year year.
And on the other hand, on the contrary, we just had a guy in Tennessee, a sex offender, we caught there as well.
Dennis Gilliam, we caught him in 2024 with a lot of child pornography.
He just got 64 years day for day in prison.
As of, I think, August 12 he got sentenced.
So, lots of sentences, good and bad, but we're getting them, we're getting them thrown in there.
That's the incredible work.
And I applaud your mission and your work.
You're really doing, you know, you're kind of like cleaning up the dregs of society and taking out the trash in a really positive and physical way.
So tell us a little bit about what, like, when you've been following the Epstein story, obviously, from start to finish.
And you're probably more intimately interested in it because of the work you do.
But what is your opinion about what has happened with this Epstein story saga or cover up over the last couple months?
How do you feel about it being someone who literally hunts and tries to catch predators?
Well, I'm not surprised.
I mean, there's a reason or I should say reasons I did not vote for Trump in 2024.
You know, I think a person who pushes a poison vaccine on to the country does not have our best interests at heart.
So I can't trust him with anything if he's going to do that.
So I was off the Trump trance like 2021 when he's out of office still showing the vaccine.
So they can't say that he was only doing it to get us out of lockdowns, but he was out of office showing the vaccines.
That makes zero sense.
So anyway, I knew that he was not going to release the Epstein files because one, he didn't do it when he was in office from 2016 to 2020.
I hear a lot that, you know, but Biden ruined the files.
Okay, but who was the president before Joe Biden?
Whose DOJ arrested Epstein?
So obviously there's co-conspirators.
Good point.
And I think at this point the reason they arrested Epstein.
So nothing with Trump or his very close people gets out about it at this point.
And so yeah, that was a huge reason I didn't vote for Trump.
So I'm not surprised by anything of it.
I was more shocked that they even talked about it after he got elected in first place.
Like when Pam Bondi announced they were coming out, I'm like, oh, they're actually mentioning this.
But I still didn't think it was going to come out.
And I think this whole Epstein thing really shows just how stupid people are.
They still just are following this guy.
They still think there's an excuse for not releasing them.
And it's just pathetic.
It is pathetic.
It's like trust the plan.
People they still think they follow all these little breadcrumbs and it never leads to anything and it never leads to any accountability.
And I have very little faith that anyone that are like high level pedophiles like the Clintons or Prince Andrew or any of these people that are world leaders are really going to serve any time behind bars.
But that disappoints a lot of people, but I kind of want to redirect attention, which is what you do.
Hey, stop focusing on getting Obama perp walked.
It's not going to happen, guys.
What about all the pedophiles that live among us that we don't know about, that are not famous because there are thousands of them that live maybe even in our neighborhood or eating at our schools or churches or our online games and everything.
Those are the things.
Those are the pedophiles that really matter and that are affecting us and our kids.
And that's the work that you do.
You are, you know, you just released a latest video a couple of hours ago about a guy that you just found or you did a sting operation and he had a bunch of child pornography of two year olds on his computer, right?
Or on his phones.
Well, yeah.
So we just recently caught a, um, Mike Reeves in Fountain, Colorado.
He lives in Colorado Springs.
We went to the next town over to meet who he thought was a minor kid at midnight.
And he's a sex offender currently on probation.
Right now he's not under arrest.
His phone is taken, however.
And he told me, he told me, and you all saw in that Twitter clip, that he, uh, bought child pornography of a two year old, uh, since he's been on prob probation and for his first sex offense, they only gave him twenty.
He only did twenty days in jail over it.
I mean, they were so light on these people in Colorado.
So yeah, I mean, then you know, people like that are what you have to worry about because of course we want Clinton arrested.
Of course we want all these EPSU 9 people arrested.
And Trump is not to be trusted since he won't release that list or do anything to them.
But 99.9% of people that sadly go through this as a kid, it's always the person in their neighborhood.
It's always the person in their family.
It's very, very rarely some elite trafficking them.
So if we can take care of that local problem, I think it would solve the vast majority of this issue.
Yeah.
People need to give hero status to someone like you, not panbonding.
Not Pam Bondi, who most likely is not going to perp walk Obama or the Clintons.
You know, you're the people, you're the kind of person that's actually making our neighborhood safer.
And locally, that's what we need to focus on, the pedophiles that hide and live among us.
So, Kwa, I have a lot of questions, but one of them is why do they seem, it seems like historically when I see these pedophile stories in the news of them getting caught, it seems like they get handed down very light sentences when it's actually like one of the worst crimes, if not the worst crime, second to murder.
Why do you see that a lot with, like, these light sentences being handed down to them?
Yeah.
Yeah, it's pretty disappointing.
I would say Dennis Gilliam in Henderson County, or excuse me, Henderson Tennis, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Sumner County.
Him getting 64 years was definitely a very pleasant surprise.
I mean, that was awesome.
Yeah, it was awesome.
Yeah, then you have that Christopher Camp guy in Vermont getting one year while he's already a sex offender, had was facing 32 for our case with child porn.
And then while he was out on bond, messages another account.
I don't know if it was a real kid or not.
It wasn't us.
And all that only gets him a year.
And that sadly, a very common thing.
We just had another predator in Oklahoma take a plea deal.
Christopher Webb in Wareka, Oklahoma.
We caught him while he was out on bond.
for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl and he was prime to just take a plea deal of ten years suspended sentence, no time served for it.
And until we caught him, now he's definitely going to get some prison time.
But I mean, it takes it over them getting caught over and over and over for like anything to happen to them.
And it's very, it's, it's sad, but I mean, it's what we have to work with.
Exactly.
Okay.
And then like, that leads me to my next question.
And you've been doing this for many years now, and your professional opinion, can these people be rehabed or healed?
Or is this just an addiction that if they, you know, they get a month's sentence or a year sentence or something.
Are they going to learn from their mistake or are they going to just go right back and do the same thing?
Is this an addiction that will never be healed for them?
No, there's no rehab for them.
I mean, I just went to jail for ten days.
So I did, I did half of what a pedo, a pedo got sentenced to in Colorado for speeding in Virginia for a reckless driving ticket which is 30 over the speed limit.
They gave me ten days in jail for it.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy.
But, you know, sleeping on that concrete for ten days, I'm like, man, I'm never going to speed again, at least not that fast.
Yeah.
I'm like, man, I'm so afraid to do anything that I'm going to mess up with ever again with this.
Yeah.
And that's for a reasonable person, you know, I, you know, they could have given me freaking six hours in there and I would have been fine.
Yeah.
But, um, you know, with these pedos, you have to be freaking broken to be able to go to jail for like more than a day and still just be like, I, I, and still just be like, I'm going to risk doing this.
I mean, it's crazy.
They're out on bond too.
Yeah.
And there, there is no rehabilitation.
I mean, the amount of sex offenders that we've caught is unbelievable.
I mean, we're primed to get another sex offender here in like two days.
And I'm not even going to say what his name on, um, signal is, but, oh my God.
Is he a big prolific one?
Um, or like, has a lot of.
I mean, his, his name is just very, uh, I probably can't even say what his profile is on here.
Like, it's that bad.
Yeah, well, I don't want to to ruin your sting operation either.
So yeah, that's what I think too.
I think when it comes to certain crimes, some people might be rehabilitated.
But with a pedophile, if you've got that sickness in you that you're going to, that you want to have sex with a child, I think that's so, it's so broken.
It's like a disorder, and I really, I just don't think that can be healed.
I mean, these are Yeah, that's a genetic thing.
Yeah, they need to be treated like animals.
One time, a life sentence in jail, because this is something that they, they are not able to function in a normal society.
No, no, there is no reform pedophile.
There is, I mean, we've caught people who are eighty years old., we've got people who are 17 years old and they all just have the same pattern.
It's, it's scary.
Ugh.
Um, how easy is it for you to set these guys up?
Is it like taking candy from the baby?
Like they take this baby really easily, um, to, to meet, uh, to meet you guys a lot thinking it's a game?
It really, it really depends.
Um, so that, that's, that's different with a lot of them.
I mean, there are some where, like, surprisingly, a sex offender in Colorado, he within, I mean, he wasn't using his real name online or anything.
We found out who he was pretty quickly.
But he didn't ask for a video call.
He didn't ask for anything to verify.
He's just like, I'll show up.
Okay.
He just shows up and he's like, Oh shit when he gets caught.
But then there's some others who are like, they put us through the fucking gauntlet of what we have to verify before they're, before they're like, you know, I guess before they're like, ready to go meet the child.
Like, if they could all get away with it, they would all do it in two seconds.
But there's, I mean, this we had this one guy in North Dakota, David Harrison, who we just caught.
He's in jail now for child porn, trying to solicit a minor.
I mean, man, he put the decoy through hell, like trying to verify everything that he was asking for.
But we did it.
I mean, they're gonna get caught.
So you do have like a child decoy or something that you use?
Yeah, someone is who plays the child.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay.
I mean, that's that's normal.
That's what Chris, Chris Harrison, or is it Chris Hansen from The Predator?
And you're like the real life, modern day to catch a predator..
Guys, if you haven't seen To Catch a Predator from back in the day, check this clip real quick, because it's very much what you do, the modern day.
I saw the ice machine here.
Oh, it's behind you, is that it?
Come on out, Chapman.
Oh, right over there, Chris.
He's about to lose his life.
Keep your hands, keep your hands right here.
See if I can keep my hands.
I know who you are.
You know who I am?
Yes.
So you've seen my shows before.
Yeah.
Well, guess what?
We're starting up again.
Okay.
And you are among our first guests.
Okay.
What's your name?
Joshua.
Joshua.
Joshua what?
Cologne.
Cologne.
And how old are you?
I'm 32.
32.
Right now I want to just transition to another subject.
This is frightening, but a California family is suing Roblox because they failed to protect their child from sexual abuse, grooming, and abduction.
So a family in California, they had their ten year old child abducted in the middle of a night by an older man predator that came through, through Roblox., that video game, basically that online game.
And then he groomed her over time.
He got her to send him her address.
He scooped her up and there was a nationwide search for her.
She was found a couple days later, hundreds of miles away from her home.
I mean, this obviously could have ended in death, but there's another couple, another family in Idaho.
Same thing happened to them.
So Roblox itself is facing many different lawsuits from families that had their children abducted by sexual predators that have come through Roblox.
This is every parent's worst nightmare.
This is horrific.
What do you know about this Roblox sexual predator kind of ring that they're conducting?
Well, we've caught a lot of predators who have used Roblox.
Like we have a guy, Lewis Hastie.
He's a sex offender now in North Carolina since our catch.
And he would basically find kids on Roblox and pay them in Robux, which is the Roblox currency to buy nudes off of them.
And we have another guy that we caught with the assistance of Schlepp, who I'm sure we'll get into soon, a Maury Hunt in Polk County, Florida.
He had child porn in Grady Judds County, which is not the best idea to do.
And we caught him with, God, I mean, I think hundreds or thousands of child pornography images and he's like, it's a lot of these younger pedos who are like in their early twenties going on Roblox and just finding these like ten year olds, eleven year olds, thirteen year olds and getting a lot of nudes from them and other servers.
I mean, it's a whole thing.
I mean, there's countless amounts on there.
And yeah, they do, they do pay money to buy nudes from them online or, worst case, go and abduct them like that girl in California.
And what Roblox is doing now is they're trying to stop people from using their platform to catch these people.
Now, I don't even necessarily hold Roblox responsible for the abduction that happened.
I mean, obviously, I guess if he was reported, maybe they should have done something.
But it's like it's a massive platform.
There's millions of users on there.
You can't just you can't just put the blame soul on your team.
Yeah, it's like pedophiles coming through Twitter DMing a child.
Yeah, and like, yeah, exactly.
How are you to just stop everything from DMing people?
Right, right.
Yeah, and that's in that case, I don't I don't think they should be liable.
Obviously, they need to fully comply with law enforcement at this point, but how are they, how would they know that would have happened?
But what they're doing now, the problem what they're doing is preventing people like us and this guy named Schlepp, who's massively exposing this from catching these people off robocs and helping expose them and get them arrested.
I mean, Schlepp, I know, has six people that he's helped catch off robocs that have been arrested.
And, you know, we've caught some of those guys that he brought to us to us and all that stuff.
And there's a massive amount and their robotics should be thanking him for the work he's doing, but trying to actively prevent it makes it seem, it doesn't make it seem like they're protecting people like the abductor in California and that's sickening.
And they make it seem as if it's like a bigger issue that people are catching pedos and the fact that there's pedos to catch on themselves or itself.
Right.
So basically like vigilantes or whistleblowers who are trying to expose what's going on, expose the pedophiles or even catch the pedophiles, they're preventing them.
I think that they, this guy named Schlepp you're talking about, they banned his YouTube page or they banned his profile or something.
So now all of a sudden that looks nefarious and suspicious.
Like, wait, now all of a sudden you're complicit in this.
Right.
Yeah.
They banned his Roblox profile and Yeah.
And it's crazy because they're like, oh, report the behavior, report the behavior to us.
And I guarantee you, first of all, on Roblox you can't send photos, you can't give out really personal information too much.
So the solicitation and the abduction stuff, it wasn't planned on Roblox.
And Roblox wants you to just report a suspicious profile to them.
Well, I'm sorry, profile being suspicious is not committing a crime.
The crime is when they go off the platform on a real communication platform.
Then they start sending the photos and they start asking, hey, what's your her phone number?
Then they start asking, send me your house address, stuff like that.
So it's important that we decoy them on Roblox and get them off platform so they're talking to us instead of, God forbid that ten year old.
Because I guarantee you that ten year old and the person who abducted her, it was the communication was probably hardly done on Roblox.
They just met each other there, then they went somewhere else, they went somewhere else and Roblox wants us to just, oh, report it to us while they're just still, you know, being weird.
But being weird is not a crime.
That's going to let the peto go.
So we got to, we got to follow through with it and Roblox is trying to prevent that and they're evil for that.
Yeah, that's, yeah, now all of a sudden they're complicit.
Right.
So that's, that's really scary.
And it does seem like that's why I wouldn't want my phone to go.
That's why I wouldn't want my children playing all these online games.
And I know so many kids play Roblox and parents think it's all innocent.
They spend hours a day on this thing and you can easily, people can message you and everything from there, right?
Like, you know, that's how they get groomed or, um, abducted.
Yeah.
Well, you can like, you can message someone, like just say hi, hello and stuff like that.
And I think they censor a lot of stuff, but if you exchange in other social media, that's where, that's where it gets bad.
Like, the meet on Roblox goes somewhere else.
Yeah.
Like Discord or some other usually Discord in that case, yeah.
Okay, got it.
Wow.
That's so frightening and scary.
And parents really, really need to watch out out for that.
Just imagine that happening to you.
You know, you have to have supervision of your children, have teaching.
You know, if you're going to put them on Roblox or something, teach them.
You never give out your address.
You never talk to people.
You know, start any kind of relationship or friendship with these people.
It's like a pedophile's paradise, basically.
Yeah, Roblox, Fortnite, all these platforms.
We had a parent come to us earlier this year.
We caught a guy named Troy Haig in Hanover, Virginia in March.
He's doing five and a half years in prison now.
But he was talking to a real twelve year old girl that he met on Fortnite.
Obviously, you know, from there they exchanged telephone numbers.
And the mom caught on pretty quickly and I guess she kind of knew my Twitter page.
So she reached out to us and we took over the chats with him.
And of course, he gets very sexual.
He wants to beat up for sex.
He sends his penis picture.
So we end up going to his home and he admits doing all that and admits having child pornography of other kids he's talked to on his phone.
So now Troy's doing five years of Virginia.
So this is a very real thing.
I mean, he was talking to a 12 year old Roan Roble on a Fortnite.
And who knows how many other kids he's talked to, you know?
Yeah, exactly.
Wow, it's incredible and horrifying actually.
All the pedophiles that live among us.
I'm seeing more and more, you know, teachers or boy scout leaders and everything that are pedophiles.
It's just so crazy.
Yeah.
My last question for you is how these pedophiles obtain child porn sometimes of infants or two-year-olds or whatever, and their pedophiles get caught.
What about the people that actually make this child porn?
I mean, the people behind the computer that are filming these two-year-olds or making the child porn.
What about them?
Are they just they always remain protected and anonymous?
I'm sure they're a lot harder to find and locate though, right?
They are because a lot of that comes from overseas.
So when we ask them, like, where do you think it's coming from?
They're like, oh, it's in Spanish groups and Russian groups.
So it's like, it's very, I guess, you know, the FBI can monitor all this shit on the internet here if they choose to.
Yeah.
But I guess they're not really as protecctive about that in Russia or India or Mexico or wherever it's coming from.
So usually the production is done from outside the country and the consuming is done in the country.
However, recently we caught an individual named Jewel Butler in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He's not convicted yet, but he got arrested and he's going through the court process.
We only caught him like last month.
He was making his own molestation videos of him molesting a six year old girl he was babysitting and he gave up her name to give up her name to us and everything like that.
Now he's charged for that and meeting our decoy for sex.
So we've caught a few producers of it, but it's few and far between.
It's giving me nightmares and shivers just thinking about it.
Thank you so much, Alex Rosen, for all the work that you do.
I know it's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
Everyone talks about it, but you guys are actually doing something tangible about it and positive to help our communities and help our kids.
So I can't thank you enough.
Appreciate it.
It wouldn't be possible without your support.
So we appreciate you all.
Yeah, please give us a plug, direct us to where we can follow you, find you, watch your videos and of course support you.
Well, if you all want to go check us out, it's Predator Poachers on YouTube PRED ATOR Space POACHERS Predator Poachers on YouTube and Rumble.
And if you want to support us further from there, we'll see you all on stream over there.
Okay, perfect.

Why is Kingdom Fuel so much better than a lot of other supplements and nutritional supplements out there?
Because this is a really, really good shake.
My favorite, by the way, is the vanilla, but I've got the vanilla and the chocolate.
Well, Kingdom Fuel is not just a protein shake.
It has organic pea protein, full spectrum, full amino acid profile, twenty grams of protein, but it's also got added to it greens and red.
A lot of people buy those separately.
It has vitamins and minerals, and soluble and insoluble fiber.
That is a complete meal and it's under $5 per serving and people use three scoops.
Yeah.
That's what most people don't.
They use one or two.
So you're talking about a full complete meal and the shelf life is two years.
If you don't open it.
Pretty cool.
Oh yeah, absolutely.
And if we're in any kind of apocalypse, you can pretty much eat this all day.
You can.
And the cereal and be really, really healthy.
All right, cool.
And guys, you can find the Kingdom Fuel line of products.
at Dr. Sherwood's website, of course, Sherwood.tv, and use promo code shots to get 30% off.
Again, that's promo code shots to get 30% off.
I love this shake.
It's a nothing we wouldn't do for our pets.

Welcome back to Shops Fired.
All right, well, we're going to talk about something a little bit different but very timely today, and that is media that we live in.
You know, we're sort of in this saturated.ated media culture and social media culture where it's all about the clicks.
It's all about the views.
It's all about really the shock value.
When we look at headlines or when we're scanning social media X, when we're scanning Rumble or even news and everything, what are we looking for?
We tend to be looking for the most shocking headlines, the most interesting things that really grab our attention.
And of course, now living in the digital age, we have an average of about three seconds to catch our attention.
So, you know, news outlets and podcasters et cetera are driven more and more to grab that attention in three seconds with salacitious headlines, shocking type of articles, and then also confirmation bias.
We see a lot of networks and we're guilty of that on our own too, I must admit, but there's a lot of news networks, CNN, you know, Fox news, et cetera, where they kind of confirm things that you're already thinking about or worried about, and they put more fear into your hearts, right?
Like you're worried about the economy, and then there's a bunch of news about the economy and how bad it is or how bad it could get.
You're worried about your health or COVID.
And now let's give you even more fear porn and more salacitious headlines and articles and news and let's get doctors to talk about this looming disease that's on the horizon.
And so, this kind of social media world we live in where it's all about shock and awe and getting us to feel a certain way emotionally, whether it's fear or shock or excitement or something.
What is that really doing though to our bodies?
What is that doing to us physically?
What is it doing to us emotionally?
What about spiritually?
And is this actually really healthy for us?
It's very different from a culture that people lived in about a hundred years ago.
So, of course, here to weigh in on this very important topic is our favorite and resident doctor, doctor Mark Sherwood of Sherwood.tv to join us to talk about this.
So, first of all, happy Thursday and welcome to Shots Fired.
Of course, how are you, Doc?
I'm doing well.
Happy Thursday as well.
I appreciate that opening and just to tag on super quickly the confirmation bias.
That's a very key thing to understand because, Deanna, people today confirmation bias really propagates the idea that it's it's true by we continue to seek information.
to confirm it's true, but it eliminates the possibility that it's not true.
In other words, we don't have the ability anymore to critically think over anything and by design, because if you get your mind made up and it gets closed minded, the mind is so closed you become just driven in that one way and sometimes there's truths on both sides of this to discover the ultimate truth probably in the middle.
That's very true.
Yeah.
And we'll get into that in a minute more, the confirmation side, confirmation bias side of things.
And all news networks are really guilty of that.
You know, we start to create in content that has people living in a kind of an echo chamber because we cater our content to our audience, right?
And who our main audience is.
So it's not it's not necessarily a malicious thing that we're doing.
It's just that it kind of happens naturally.
We cater to our audience.
So in their certain views and opinions that we know they have.
And, you know, I want to talk first about sort of like the shock value, the shocking headlines and articles and those kinds of news that people digest all the time of the day.
And people tend to look for what's interesting to read or watch or news clips of.
And it's usually stuff that's shocking or that's fear based or something.
So from your point of view, from a doctor's point of view, what is that doing to our aud bodies?
Well, let's go back to the primal brain, a place that goes back eons of time called the amygdala.
The amygdala is really this primal brain that can detect threats or rewards.
So in its detection of threats, it's always surveying the environment and the detection of a threat, once discovered, is going to drive dopamine, cortisol, and adrenaline.
It just does.
That's the way it works because we have to have that response or the threat is going to kill us.
And that threat really from a historic standpoint, genetics, if you will, and the way we were developed as humans, if you will.
If we don't respond in that way, the bear that's chasing us is going to eat us.
So it's all about the fight or flight response.
And so as we detect this thing going on through the social media, fear point or shock and all headlines or the thumbnails that just kind of draw your attention to that three second window.
Yeah, click baby.
We seek that over the course of time because we want to confirm, back to your word, whether it was true or not or could have happened to me.
So it just keeps that fear thing alive and once the fear has subsided we want to make sure that it's not going to happen again so we keep going back.
So it creates this cycle of addiction.
And from the broadcasting standpoint, I get it because you're going to get a lot of clicks on that, a lot of viewers on that, a lot of followers on that.
But the healthy addiction there in that is not there.
It's actually voidant from there.
True.
They've actually come up with a term for that recently.
It's called doom scrolling.
There you go.
Doom scrolling.
We're just kind of scrolling on this habit of scrolling on our phones or computers and looking for almost the worst kind of news or the shocking kind of news, most shocking kind of videos or social media stuff.
And it's putting us in a state of depression and fear and kind of just like hopelessness.
And when you think about it, it's addictive.
It, trust me, it's addictive even from my standpoint.
I know it's unhealthy, but I mean, what, how unhealthy also is that like emotionally and spiritually when we're kind of in this doom scrolling habit every day before bed, waking up in the morning, throughout the afternoon?
You look at the doomsday or doom scrolling concept, it is the ultimate and the epitome of the end.
The end of life.
The end of life as we know it.
Death.
All those things.
Calamity.
Destruction.
The world's going to end.
The power grids are going to go off.
The economy is going to end.
They're going to start shooting you and hanging you from the trees.
And the federal forces are going to come to town and override everybody.
Yeah.
I could go on and on with this.
And it's really not healthy from a standpoint, from a spiritual perspective, first of all, because we know, and not to be preachy, but this is what we generally believe.
You and I have had this talk is we believe that God is on the throne.
Yeah.
We believe that he made us.
We believe that the world's going to be a place where we there's a lot of anxiety, a lot of bad things happen, and some days you're not going to have a great day.
But we also know that God promises us he will not only keep us, but he will get us through and he'll preserve us through it all.
He promises to walk with us through this valley of the shadow of death.
And I think the valley of the shadow of death tells a story of what we're talking about here because the shadow is not reality.
The shadow is a reflection of what could be reality.
So we're walking through this shadow.
And remember in human terms, if we're scared of a shadow, you know, the shadow is not reality.
It's the reflection of what could be but might not be.
And so even those uncertain times, God walks us through.
And from the emotional standpoint, as it relates to physical health, too much cortisol in our life is not a good thing because it's about survival.
And if you're running from that bear all the time, Deanna, at some point in time, and this I've seen this before, and I want to just draw a story if I could.
So here's Deanna, and you're walking through a park.
You're out there and you decide to go for a little run.
It's dark.
And you see a figure, a shadowy figure out of your periphery, and you start picking up the pace a little bit to get away from that.
But then you notice that the shadowy figure is now behind you and is coming along with you at the same pace.
You pick up the pace again and it picks up its pace.
The person picked up and eventually you realize the person's gaining on you.
So you're going to really pick up the pace.
And once the person catches you, and I'm not speaking this, this is just I want you to think like this.
Once the person catches you, you're going to fight like the Dickens.
You're a little Spitfire man, you're going to fight like the Dickens.
Definitely.
But there's a point in time where if you were overpowered, what do we do?
We freeze.
We're frozen.
And we finally give up.
That is the end of the fight.
That is the end of the, the, the, the.
The fleeing from the thing.
Yeah.
And we die.
And the systems of the body internally are neglected when all of our energy is pushed on the outside, dealing with the threat of the shadowy figure.
And so when we see that people are suffering today, we see fat gain, inflammation increase, sleeplessness, paranoia, fear.
People begin to eat their emotions and eat poor foods.
Yeah.
They begin to make poor financial decisions, you know, right?
Making poor investments or pulling things out of places they should leave it in there and putting things in places they shouldn't because they're they're scared.
Yeah.
And we know we don't make good decisions if we run scared the majority of the time.
So true.
Yeah.
And you're and you know, I agree with all of what you said and just from a spiritual standpoint too, if you're doom scrolling all day and getting involved in salacitious articles and headlines and shocking news or dooming type of news, you're certainly not thinking about God.
You're not in a prayerful, uh, a prayerful state of mind.
You're not in a faith based state of mind because you're in a negative, you're literally in negative feelings or fear or depression, which is distancing yourself further from God and from faith, from hopefulness.
So I just think people, and maybe that's by design, right?
That they have us so addicted to social media that and so addicted to these kinds of shocking headlines and view and doom scrolling and stuff that it just puts us at a further distance from God and from faith.
They want us in a negative state, a hopeless state.
And what do we do when we're hopeless?
As you said, we make bad decisions and we do things that are unhealthy for us all the way around.
I think that when people are in that place, and I don't necessarily think everybody's evil with intent, I think it's just the fallback that mankind has.
You know, we like to, if you got a show or a brand or a television series, you want people to watch it because that's that's part of that feature ego, man.
If nobody's watching it, you're not going to be able to make a living with that.
And I really get that.
But at the same time, along those lines, who's your provider?
And from the human standpoint, faith is not going to sell tickets nor is peace not going to sell tickets.
Fear sells tickets.
It really does.
It's what drives the world.
The world is a place that's driven by fear.
Whereas heaven kingdom's a place that's driven by faith.
And faith and fear are like, well, I wonder you can't put them in the same mix because they don't gel together.
They're always separated.
And so looking at things from a perspective from one place or another makes all the difference in the world.
And you bring up a very good point about, you know, where is God and all that?
You know, I look at the story of the disciples in the boat.
You know, they're in the middle of a storm man the sea is raging The wind is howling and the rain is coming down and the water is getting in the boat.
But here's Jesus over sleeping.
So he has peace in the storm and they have panic in the storm.
And I think that tells us a story right there.
When they finally wake him up, they realize he is the master, not just of the storm, but in the storm.
And so to not recognize him.
at first in the middle of the storm is promoting panic.
And I think that's where people are, even people of faith today, you know?
And if we claim to be Christian people or people of faith or faith, a faith-filled nation.
Then I don't, I think we've got some introspection to do in that.
I think we've got to really think through what we're doing and are we promoting peace?
And even though it might not sell tickets, does it change lives for the better?
And for me, and I know you, is that when I have an opportunity to be a guest or be a friend or be in a conversation, I honestly think about this.
How can I leave the person or the therapist?
And does that matter?
I believe it does.
And I think the opportunity we have in front of us with the mass media, social media these days.
These days, all media is tremendous.
It's never been this way before.
So this is a blessing, man.
And we've got to really take that responsibility and use it, I believe, in a way that's going to promote health.
And I'm not saying to hide negative information or negative headlines from people, that's not the point.
We need to share those things of what's going on because people need to be aware, but they don't need to be aware of that because we need to share a balanced perspective of that.
And it does help people kind of unwind it a little bit.
I like that.
Be aware of any of important information or threats that they should be aware of, but don't be aware of.
Don't just be living in a state of fear due to that information.
That's right.
And if we live in a state of wariness or a state of beware, we just talked about, again, we're driving that engine of fear in our lives, of anxiety, of anticipation or perhaps reinforcing that it might happen to you.
You might be the one.
They're going to get you.
They're coming to get you.
I'm standing the gap for you, for all of us.
You know where I'm going with that.
We see politicians doing that all the time.
It's a political tactic.
And I really get that.
You know, the Democrats are so bad and the Republicans are so bad.
And you see that that sort of platform is being enhanced today by media on both sides.
And we have got to consider in our own lives and our own influence groups and our own spheres and opportunities to do something a little bit different.
Yeah.
And again, it's not knocking anyone or anything.
It's just, what are we doing about it?
We look ourselves in the mirror.
What is what good is it doing?
Exactly.
Yeah.
What good is it doing on a personal level?
What good is it doing on a, you know, a nationwide level, because if we're feeling one certain way because of all this kind of doom scrolling and negative news and stuff, then millions of other people are feeling the same.
And that's like, that's a massive impact, a negative drain on our country when, when we could have a positive influence on our country and lift our country up in a vibrational, you know, faith based state instead of bringing it down.
You know, we're just bringing it down.
So we got to think about not only ourselves, but how is our emotional state come, you know, times the millions of people here all affecting the greater good of everyone, all affecting our nation as a whole.
Yeah.
I love that because ultimately, in all of our followerships, you know, people will only go as far as the leader takes them or they only reach the level as far as the leader will go.
And as they only, the way it goes, it only goes as high as the, the, the highest boat, you know?
And so we got to hold our levels high up there and really just check ourselves and how we're promoting hope out there.
Because if we're talking about faith and we say we're faithful to our faithful people, then why would anyone want a part of that if you're running around making people mad all the time?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Don't be hypocrite.
You know, if we're a faith based, faith based country or faith.
Faith based country or faith based people, bring it, you know, bring it, bring that faith, bring that faith state on a, on a grand level, on a great level.
So, uh, great conversation today.
As usual, always enlightening and inspiring.
I think it's a conversation that we really needed to have that a lot of people are not having, um, Our mental state and how we react to the news and everything, how it affects us on a personal level, a spiritual level and on a nationwide level.
