And I want you to get prepped.
We don't know what's coming.
Who knows?
But regardless whether it's a hurricane, national disaster, or the whole government shuts down, they have awesome deals on freeze-dried food.
In fact, they have a new item.
It's freeze-dried cans.
It's a lot less expensive than the big barrels.
Go there.
HeavensHarvest.com promo code Candice and check them out.
Hey everybody, welcome to Jesus Skins and Babies.
I'm your host, Dr.
Candice Taylor.
Here's my handsome husband today.
We're having a different show.
Actually, we're on someone else's show, our friends Jack and Diane Coulson with Peach State Patriots.
And so we're going to start with scripture and then we're going to explain how today's going to go.
So the verse today is Judges 2.16.
It says, Then the Lord raised up judges who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them.
So what does that mean?
That God is always for us.
And He has a plan.
If there's a time when we feel like the enemy is on our back and we will not be successful, the Lord will raise up somebody.
He will raise up a hero.
And judges are really important because God says that He raises them up.
So Ryan's running for a probate judge in Appling County where we're from and so it's really important.
It's important that God raises judges up and that we vote for people that love the Lord in every single position.
And so we have a different show today.
We were on Peach State Patriots with our good friends Jack and Diane Colson and then we also were with our really good friends April and Brent Lofton.
April was running for commissioner in the second district of of Troop County in LaGrange, Georgia.
And so we have a wonderful show.
You're gonna love it.
So, here you go.
Hi, I'm Jack.
And I'm Diane Colson, and welcome again to the Peach State Patriots.
We are so thrilled today with the two couples that we have here, because they have bit off a lot more than I ever thought about biting off at their age, I'm telling you.
They are in between my grandchildren and my children's age.
And I am so proud of these two couples.
I met Candace when she did.
I have Dr.
Candace Taylor with me and her husband Ryan.
I also have April and Brent Lofton with me today.
But I met Candace when she was running for governor in Georgia.
And so we've got some things to talk about there.
But we're going to also talk about the candidacy of her husband as well as my dear friend, April today and talk about why they decided to run in their lives and that kind of thing.
And so we're so excited to talk to you about it.
And I want to just say, what do you want to say, Jack?
Well, I know, Candace, you've got to be proud because this was your whole message when you were running for governor on the campaign trail about getting people involved.
You know, get grassroot people involved.
And now not only do you have, you've been working on April now for over a year.
A couple of years.
But you got her fired up.
And, you know, she started a coalition here in Troop County.
And that's on fire.
And now you've got your husband who's going to actually run for Southern.
So I know that's got to be, you know, you've kind of got your, just in this area here, it's kind of spreading out a little bit for you.
Yeah.
And so they don't even know I went and stayed with April and Brent and I tried to get Brent to run too.
And Brent said, I'll think about it.
He ain't done it yet, but we're still waiting on Brent.
He's still got a couple weeks he can pull the trigger, right?
Yeah.
So now, Ryan, you were running for a probate judge, is that correct?
Yeah, that is correct.
But what made you decide to do this?
I mean, I know Candace, you've been with her on the campaign trail and all, but what was it about this position that you decided you wanted?
I did not tell him to do it, just FYI. We were at our local Republican meeting, and they were saying, we need somebody to, all these people need to be primaried.
Even if they're great candidates, everybody needs to be held accountable.
It keeps everybody honest.
It's good competition.
And so when they were mentioning all the seats, and I heard probate judge, something just, like, in my heart just leaped out.
I was like, why did that stand out?
And then so I went and did some research, called some judges to see what the responsibilities were and everything.
And then it's like every step I took kept on leading me in that same direction.
It's like, you know, the Holy Spirit just pulls you.
The steps of a righteous man are ordered of God.
And I was like, Lord, you lead me down this path.
And so I... Sign after sign and I just could tell this was the thing that I should do.
And then I've also had plenty of practice and I'm helping her run for office and now I'm going to let her help me run for office.
That's what it's about.
Yeah, he told somebody I was his campaign manager.
I said, who said I was your campaign manager?
I'm like, I am not your campaign manager.
He's like, you're the fundraiser, the campaign manager, everything.
Now, you're in Applin County in District 1 of Georgia.
Is that correct?
Yeah, exactly.
That's right.
Hey, for our viewers, Ryan, I mean, what is a probate judge?
When you say probate judge, I know we know what the Superior Court judges are, but what does a probate judge do?
All right, so first thing, the probate judge seat is nonpartisan.
It's a constitutional seat.
And the word probate means to validate a will.
So you want to prove the validity of a will when somebody passes away.
And so a huge responsibility is to take care of the wills of the deceased.
But there are also several other things that fall under the office.
Like, for example, marriage license, weapons carry license, death certificate.
There's actually...
I believe about 48 different forms you can file through the probate office.
I got you.
Okay.
Is it a full-time job?
I mean, really?
It is a full-time job, and by law, we do have to have the office open eight hours a day.
Oh, okay.
Except for holidays, local, also even locally honored holidays and different things like that.
But it is a full-time job, but there is a staff.
You do have clerks helping run the day-to-day activities and everything.
So it's a pretty big deal.
So now will you be stepping away from the school board?
Will you be in a position for the school?
I will.
So right now I've been teaching for, this is my 11th year.
And after 10 years, you're tenured and you can draw retirement when you turn 60.
So now is like the perfect time.
I've reached that threshold where I can try out new things.
And so it just worked out perfect where I could step away from the school system and run for this office.
And the pay, it will be very similar.
There's also retirement offered as a probate judge.
And so everything, it would be a smooth transition as far as the family, being able to take care of my family and everything.
So how many people are running for this position?
So far, there's me and the incumbent.
So there'll be two people.
It's time for new blood.
And Candace, how are you going to feel about having a judge living with you?
I mean, he judges me all the time.
I'm used to it.
Don't spend money.
Don't say things like that.
Do this, do that.
I'm used to it.
Like, it's constant, like, him judging me.
So, I mean, it's great.
I've had plenty of practice around here.
Now, April, you've done jumped into the political arena down there and over here in Troop County, and we're excited about that.
Oh, yeah.
Definitely an interesting journey that we're about to take on.
So, you know, you're running for commissioner position, right?
Yes.
Is that right?
Seat number two, is that right?
District two.
District two.
Why don't you kind of go over what led you to this?
How, you know, Brent and you guys came together with all this and made this decision.
Well, actually what led me to actually getting involved in the political arena was in 2020 when our local government decided to label certain businesses non-essential due to COVID. And so I unfortunately fell in that category and I did not like having a false identity placed on me.
And so it just ignited a fire and it's just been burning ever since.
And then next thing I know, I'm meeting Candace and it's just been on ever since.
Candace has a way of lighting that fire, doesn't she?
She does.
Pulling it out.
See, Brent, I'm still trying to pull you to school board.
I know.
So, Brent, what you think about your wife jumping in?
I said, we can only do one at a time.
I'm just trying to hang on.
So, you're going to be her campaign manager, Brent?
I think I'm a little bit of everything at this point, but I'm going to do what I can to help because this definitely needs a change and we need some straightforward thinking.
We do.
You know, a lot of times, I think that in so many instances, if we could just get the godly people to vote when we have an election cycle, I really believe we would turn everything upside down in our country.
We just would not have the ridiculousness that's going on in our governments and even decisions that people are allowed to make in our schools and allowing the The stuff that goes on in our schools for our children's reading and just so many things that me as a grandmother really gets upset about.
And I know that there are a lot of godly people that somehow feel like that that separation of church and state is the reason that they can justify not going to vote.
And Candace, I know you've got something, a lot of something to say about that, don't you?
Well, yeah, the separation of church and state is such a cop-out.
You know, they just lie about that.
In fact, somebody yesterday was asking me for my video I did with the Constitution where I broke it down to show because they're having this big pastor event this week on St.
Simons and they're going to talk to the 85 pastors in Georgia about This is a lie.
You know, Jesus, his whole ministry was political.
He was crucified because of politics.
Like, you cannot separate the two.
Our whole country was founded on Jesus Christ.
Our whole country was founded because of bad politics.
And so you cannot separate it.
It's in everything.
We had a girl in Athens, you know, that was murdered because of an illegal criminal.
That raped her and murdered her on University of Georgia campus this week.
And people were saying, well, we shouldn't politicize everything.
I said, you know, it's so convenient to say, let's not politicize everything when it doesn't meet the left's agenda, right?
So it doesn't meet the agenda of illegal people are here and they're killing our children.
And I was speaking in Chatham County yesterday at the GAP meeting, and I said, you know, If you come to Georgia and you murder one of our kids, like, you come here illegally, you're not getting out alive.
Like, I want that message sent.
You don't get to come here and kill our kids.
And so, you know, it's easy for the governor to go and write a letter to Joe Biden and to our 14 congressmen and women and say, y'all do something.
Georgia's sovereign.
We're a sovereign state, and so he has the authority in this state to stop illegal criminals from coming into the state.
And so when we look at government and the structure of government and how it's set up, you cannot separate Jesus Christ out of it.
It says clearly in the Word of God that the government is on his shoulders.
So it is on him.
You can't separate it.
And all politics are local.
They all start locally.
And so it is overwhelming to me.
If we go back and we look, the Lord told me to start, I ran for U.S. Senate, then I ran for governor.
It's like, why did you start at the top?
Because they were like, who are you?
Who do you think you are to come in here and run for these seats?
Because you have to earn your way.
That's how, it's a whole system and it's a lie, but that's what they have us believing.
And I know it was because God was teaching me something.
He was teaching me the corruption here.
Trickles down.
But the foundation is broken.
And so we saw in 2023, last year, at the GOP convention, a whole takeover.
April was there.
We saw a whole takeover of us, patriots, taking over seats the whole way, from local GOP to the state GOP. And that happened organically because we had so many volunteers.
I didn't tell them to do that.
They just started running for their seats.
We're seeing the same thing now.
People all over the state of Georgia that help with our campaign, that are sick and tired of it.
They're tired of being misrepresented.
They won't, like Brent said a while ago, just common sense.
Just do the right thing.
Don't be bought off.
Don't do that.
And they're running for school board seats, commissioner seats, city councils, mayors, judges, state house, state senate.
And the state senators and state house members are calling, blowing my phone up.
Are you primarying me?
No, I'm not primarying you.
Are you getting somebody to primary me?
Not me directly, but I'm motivating everyone.
Because it's like Ryan said, it doesn't matter how good you are, it keeps you honest.
You need to have that person in your face saying, you know what, you can lose this seat.
This seat doesn't belong to you.
This seat belongs to the people.
And you don't get to get in that seat and stay forever.
You know, I was listening this morning to, I love Elijah's dreams.
I don't know if you're familiar with it, either one of you guys.
Well, April is, I know.
And Robin Bullock, Pastor Robin Bullock from Oberyn, Alabama, was on this week, and he was talking about the crucifixion of Jesus and that the authority that Jesus had, even in the garden, I mean, he didn't...
Allowed them to take him, you know, and anybody that's listening to this broadcast really should go back and listen to that.
It's on Elijah's screens and it's, again, Pastor Robin Bullock.
He was talking about that we as children of God have been given the authority.
And even if you go back, it wasn't the Romans that actually crucified Christ.
It was the Jews that crucified.
They called for his crucifixion.
And he said, if the church and the Christians don't understand their authority, he said, because they know it in government.
They really do know it.
But what we've done is we've let the dog wagon...
Instead of the head, wag the tail.
And we have stepped back and allowed them to push themselves and their thought processes on us.
And that's what the whole message was about this morning.
I thought, wow.
I don't know.
He just really opened my eyes even wider to the truth, you know, of we need to take back what God gave us.
He left us here.
He said, you go and take care.
You know, you go win the lost.
You've got work to do.
And he wants us in every pillar of society doing what he's called us to do and to be his children operating in all those different, separate layers of society.
So, any comments on that, April?
You know I agree 100%.
I've just sat and watched it over these years and I've kind of wondered why I've been in different situations or different even just areas for the time being since 2020 hit.
So we're going on four years that I've kind of You know, found my way in the political arena.
And it's definitely uncharted waters.
And for a long time, I've sat back and just said, Lord, what are you doing?
Like, what am I doing here?
Because I would get extremely, you know, aggravated or I would just, I was just appalled by things that I was hearing, things that I was seeing.
And Then it was really cool because at that point, somebody spoke over to my wife and started sharing with me about the position of a watchman.
And that impacted me.
And I was like, okay.
So, you know, for about three years or so, I've just been, like Candace said, I think both of us and we've actually both had people speak into our lives about being in a training period.
And I think that it's leading up to this for sure.
It was hard to watch.
It was hard to sit in establishment environments and just hear the rhetoric just come out over and over and over of just, like Brent said, it's just not common sense stuff.
And then it's just, it's like this haze or this glaze over people's eyes about what's being spoken to them and people just aren't even questioning it.
We've just been programmed to just accept what they're spilling out of their voice and I don't know.
I've just recognized things and I just know that this is the direction that God's telling me to go.
And I will say that when I finally made the decision, I made the decision.
I've been praying about it for going on three years now.
And I told myself I'd give myself till December to really make a decision on it and When I announced at church last weekend, I think I told you after I came back and sat down next to you guys, it was like I physically felt a weight lifted off of my shoulder and the Holy Spirit just saying, okay, you did it.
Are you ready to go now?
You've been holding this on for so long.
You've been fighting me on it.
So it was just the weight was lifted off of me and I knew that I was moving into the direction that God has put me in.
For sure.
Well, you know what just came to my mind when you said that it was a weight off of your shoulders because the government weighs on his shoulders.
And so what you did, even in making that statement, you literally, spiritually, whether you realize it or not, and I hadn't thought about it until just now, you just put it on his shoulders.
Right.
I want to say something here about April and Brent.
As we traveled the state of Georgia, we would meet people in different counties and they'd ask stuff about the state.
April and Brent were two that always cared about LaGrange.
They cared about Troop County.
And so April, from the time I met her, she would, you know, let me tell you what's going on here.
Let me tell you what's going on in the commissioners.
Let me tell you what's going on with our House and Senate member.
Let me tell you.
And she was so passionate about her local government, even her elected people that are at the state level, but they're her people that she votes for.
And Brent was the same way.
Brent, he's friends with commissioners.
You know, you could tell with his business and everything, he's very active in the community and in the county.
And so these are the type of people We need running our local government, people who care.
Because our word this morning church was about, our pastor spoke about where your treasure is, there's your heart.
What you care about, what you love, what you give attention to, where you're passionate.
Where you put your money.
That's what you really care about.
And this is a couple that really cares about their community.
And those are the types of people that need to run.
And that's why April felt this burning in her.
It's stepping out of her comfort zone to run.
It's stepping out of Brent's comfort zone to let her run and support her to do that.
Those are the people.
The people, and I've heard it.
Over and over, from godly men and women who are not in office, but they're watching, they're praying, and they're really seeking God, they keep saying this one thing over and over.
The people we want to run are the ones who don't feel comfortable doing it.
That's right.
And you know, one of the things that I witnessed with April, when she first got involved with the Republican Party, the meetings were at the country club.
Remember April?
Then you got them moved to another venue.
Well, I didn't get them moved.
I feel like the new leadership has really been pushing it and trying to make some changes for the better, for sure.
Well, the reason I said that, but you were behind the scenes with that old prod stick, boom, boom, boom.
But the establishment, the good old boys, and that's one thing that you're facing, there is a good old boy mentality here.
And because you told us when you went to register to let them know that you were going to run, the guy come out and you kind of surprised them.
I think I'm a surprise for sure.
And I know when you did the paper ballot thing, the guy that was sitting in there was like, oh, Lord, what's going on here?
What is she starting?
And I know, Candace, that's something that was big on you.
Let's get paper ballots in Georgia.
Yeah, I mean...
What did you say, Ms.
Diane?
I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to interrupt.
I said, how is that going?
How is that looking for the state of Georgia?
So, you know, we've come a long way.
It's so multi-layered.
It's like an onion.
You just have, like, all these layers to it.
But we are, you know, have a lot of counties that are going to hand count.
They're going to hand count where they didn't before.
And so we're still going to have the same ballots, as far as I know, unless the General Assembly does something really quick before they...
Sign and die and they move that way.
But there are parameters they're putting in.
They're trying to get the QR code off, which we push for that to go off because it's embedded.
You can't read it.
It's unconstitutional.
We've made headway.
We have their attention.
They're doing things.
They're saying things they know.
And so they know we're watching and we're watching like a hawk.
We are going to count the paper.
The main thing is, is that people check their ballot.
When they go in and they vote on the machines and their ballot prints, they read the ballot and they make sure I voted for April Lofton for commissioner.
I voted for this person for city council.
This is who I voted for.
And they look at that ballot and make sure it is who they voted for.
Because when people go back and they do the hand count later, If the wrong name's there, they're not going to be counted accurately.
And because we don't hand mark, that's the only way we can be sure that we can paper count and it be correct.
So, you know, we're moving in the right direction there, but it's because of April doing that locally and doing that hand paper count.
Pushing that in the meetings, and it's happening all over the 159 counties in Georgia, pushing for accountability that we are seeing a big moving shift, and our legislators know we're not stopping, we're not taking the foot off the gas, we mean it, we're going to get it fair and legal.
So, you know, I think that More people, and that's why I wanted to get this out today.
When April asked, will we do this?
I'm like, yes, because I hope people are listening to this and they're thinking, you know, like Ryan felt his being pulled to do something.
I hope they feel like, you know what, there's a school board seat.
There's a mayor seat.
There's a sheriff seat.
There's a, you know, commissioner seat.
There's a judge seat in my county.
And I'm feeling in me like a burning light.
Maybe I should run.
Yes, you should run.
You should run now.
Like, qualifications in March.
Like, don't wait.
Go do it now.
So I'm hoping people listening to this are going to feel a fire inside of them to go and run.
Because how can we get new people if there's nobody on the ballot?
You don't have a choice.
We need to give a choice to the people.
That's how we change this out.
That's how we take our government back, is we provide a choice.
If the people of Applin County want Ryan Taylor, who's going to do an awesome job, he's the closest person to Jesus I know, you're going to vote for him and you will get an awesome man.
Or you can choose to have what you have.
And it's nothing personally.
He's not running against this lady in the job.
He's running for the seat.
So it's up to the people of Applin County to choose.
Same thing with April.
She's not running against that person that's in that seat.
She's running for that commissioner's seat.
And I can tell you something about April.
She's not going to be making backroom deals and saying, hey, lower your bid this much to make sure you get it so then you can give Brent some business on the side and we can pay our house off.
Like, that would never be her heart.
100%, she's going to say, whoever's the lowest, They're getting the bid.
I don't care.
Don't come to me and ask me for a backroom deal.
I'm not doing that.
I love Jesus.
And so when you love Jesus and you love the Lord, you want to be honest and he's going to bless you for being honest every single time.
I will say, when I was deciding to run, I did have this little nervous twitch, like a little bit being unsure because it's something brand new.
That's right.
It can be kind of stressful to do something in the public eye.
But then I was looking at her, and I was like, how could I expect her to get out and do stuff, and me being the man of the household, me not being able...
to be brave enough to step out and do it my own self.
And I was, and then once I started talking to people all over the state that I've already serving in this position, I realized how easy it would be, how I'm overqualified and, and that any, anybody can do it.
Do not be afraid.
All these constitutional seats, all you need is a high school diploma.
And anybody can do it.
And it might as well be you.
And God will give you the grace for it.
I remember...
I'm thinking about, wait, I got all this work to do.
But then I remembered when I was younger in college and I went on a mission trip and how difficult it was passing out flowers and inviting people to come to services and ask them if they know Jesus.
But taking that in on the campaign trail, it's so similar.
You're just walking door to door the same exact way except for in America.
You can treat it as a ministry.
Like, I'm going to do this for you.
I'm going to I'll do everything I can to represent you.
If you need anything in this office, I'm here for you.
And also, having the attitude that if you lose, you're not losing.
Listen, God told me.
He said, you are a winner.
I'm a winner no matter what.
I can either win for the people of Applin County.
I'm going to win.
I'm going to do the best job I can.
Or...
If the people don't choose me, I'm going to win somewhere else.
But listen, do not be afraid of losing or anything.
God will take you from glory to glory, no matter what the outcome is.
Yeah, the enemy wants you to feel shame.
And so that's what we made.
They'll say, oh, on Twitter, especially, it's like 3.4%, 3.4%, which we know is a lie.
We know they cheated.
But it's like, I don't care.
Say whatever you want to say.
It doesn't matter to me.
I had thousands, tens of thousands of volunteers.
I met people that are invaluable.
I would have ran and did all the work I did just to know these two couples on this interview.
I love y'all that much.
We have relationship.
You build relationship.
You build connections in the kingdom that nobody can take away.
They're priceless.
You can't put a price tag on relationship.
And so it's worth it.
Our government's worth it.
And we talk about the government so bad.
Our government is worth it.
Our founding fathers, I was telling Rhonda and a couple after church that I've known forever, I was telling them, it's inside of me to be a warrior and And to be a patriot because my DNA fought for this country.
We've lived here since the inception of this country.
We fought for our freedom here.
And so maybe these illegal criminals coming over, they don't feel that.
Their heart's different because they snuck in and they feel different.
But for me, I feel like tenacious, like I will not give it up.
I will not.
I will do everything I can do to protect my freedom.
Yeah.
Well, you know, and even just saying that, it brings thoughts to me that, you know, we were speaking with someone down in Texas the other day.
Jack and I work this business that we love to do because it's put us out there all over this great nation.
And I know that there are thousands and thousands upon millions of patriots in every great state.
But they were saying that, you know, They know for a fact that people crossing the border, a lot of them get $5,000 in credit cards.
I mean, and we've got veterans that have fought and died, you know, not died.
Of course, they're near death, a lot of them.
They're living homeless and begging on the street, and they don't even get any kind of recognition or love from our government.
And It makes me sick.
And then we're actually giving people that come here illegally all this money and resources of ours where we need to take all that back.
I mean, we've just got to stop this ridiculous stuff that we're doing.
Why would we honor somebody and why would they even honor this country for allowing them to come in the way they did In the first place, they're already criminals.
You know, they're criminals.
And I just, it doesn't make sense to me.
And then we've got people that really need income.
You know, and they've already paid the price to be here.
Well, it's all political.
I mean, the immigration issue, they make it political, and if you don't want them, they label you as a racist, or they put a tag on you.
And that's the thing, you know, when you do run for public office, Even in the local level, you know, you're putting yourself out there for exposure.
You know, Candace, I saw something that you posted about some witches or something came after you.
They sent you a car and all kind of stuff.
You know, we saw that.
I mean, so you're still getting attacked because they saw you as a threat.
They still feel you as a threat.
And that's one of the reasons I think, you know, look at Donald Trump, you know, what he endures.
I can't even imagine Waking up like that man wakes up in the morning, knowing the legal stuff that he's got going against him.
Then they put this ridiculous fine on him.
They're trying to deplete his cash.
But yet he does it for the love of this country.
And I know, April, with you, as a commissioner, you're going to...
Now, if I understand that position right, are you guys like dictate policy in the whole county?
Is that what a commissioner is?
I think they have a lot of roles.
I'm really trying to understand that a little bit better.
I actually downloaded, they actually have an app that I actually went in and downloaded the different, you know, rules and response.
They have like a guide handbook, you know, and you could print out everything.
So I've been looking over that for the past, you know, over this last year.
And there's a lot of different, you know, roles or categories that they fall into.
I have watched meetings over this last year and what I've just been seeing is a lot of excess spending and I see a lot of justification of Funds being brought in through, don't worry, this is a grant, and don't worry, this is SPLOS 5, and don't worry, this is SPLOS 4, but we're covering SPLOS 5 to cover SPLOS 6, but we got a governor's grant for this.
And it's just overwhelming the amount of money that is spent in a public meeting that we sit there, sometimes maybe 15 or 20 minutes.
And a lot of it's unnecessary.
We have seen a lot of things happen in Entry County, and I believe that some of the decisions that the commissioners have made over this last year has pretty much awakened a sleeping giant.
We had a major issue with sanitation, even to the point of where they cut fundings from a local business, which I think is absolutely outrageous.
of things that I'm seeing and hearing.
And what I have just realized through what my role is going to be is just listening because people don't want to hear me talk.
They want me to hear them talk.
And I think that is the biggest thing with any elected position is that if you're not listening to your constituents and actually Wanting, you know, and building a relationship with them.
I mean, that's one thing, you know, about, you know, Candace and Ryan is they made initiative to build relationships with people that they were coming in contact with.
And, you know, we've walked into meetings over this last year and been referred to as visitors.
And I'm like, what?
Excuse me?
Many times.
We have a group of visitors here today.
And I'm like, Okay, well, first of all, I'm a taxpayer.
And second of all, I'm a voter that puts you in that position.
So that didn't sit very well on me because we're not, you know, school students coming in on a field trip to the government building.
Our taxpayer money paid for the government building.
But I think they see us that way, April, don't you?
I really think they do.
I really think they do.
And I fuss about this, and I guess this is kind of petty sometimes, but the way that people speak to Brent but don't acknowledge me sitting next to him in meetings and things, and that's just, that's comical to me.
And so I think that had something to do with the shock factor of me actually stepping up and putting in my declaration of intent to run, you know, kind of You know, I guess rocking the boat when I went into the election office to do that.
But, you know, I know where my heart is and I know that I'm going to do the best job possible that I can do.
But I can tell you right now, I'm listening to the voice of Jesus Christ over the voice of what people think I should do.
And I know that I'm not a yes man.
You know, I may be outvoted on every single issue that gets brought up there.
But I'm not a majority voter if I don't feel that way.
You know, I'm very strong about not, you know, having the reputation of a politician because I don't like it.
And that's not who I am.
And my job over the last 26 years of running my own business and, you know, being a salon owner, my job for 26 years has been listening to people.
If anybody's qualified to do that, I mean, it's me.
That's a good point.
I like that.
You know, I mean, and that's just a fact.
That's a fact is that God placed me in a position, you know, very young in life.
I mean, to where my whole job has been listening to people for 26 years.
They build relationships with me.
They trust me.
They confide in me.
They tell me personal things.
And they know that I'm listening to them.
They know that I give them an environment of Of confidence and respect.
And that's a big deal.
I'm so off the radar of, okay, a salon owner, hairstylist is going to go run for commissioner.
I mean, come on.
I know the stereotype.
I understand what people think a lot of times.
But I also know that I bought my first business at 23 years old.
I mean, that's a pretty big accomplishment.
And I've been running a debt-free business since 2009.
I think a pretty big, you know, accomplishment.
So government set up should be set up like like a business, you know, and be able to be able to function that way.
I think that's why Donald Trump does such a good job is because he's a businessman versus a politician.
And I think the times of politicians need to be over with.
I think the government, like Candace always says, it's a bottom up government.
The people need to be able to, you know, know that their voice is being heard.
You know, I think a lot of times when some of these established people, they get in there and all they do is worry about how to get reelected.
They don't really care.
And they go, they're back and forth and back and forth.
But one thing that you just said, April, is you've ran a business and you've worked off a budget.
So, you know, money coming in, money going out philosophy, right?
And I'm sure you've watched and you've had to cut things, cut that.
So when you go in this new position, it's the same process.
You're going to have a budget seat, you're going to have a budget sheet, and you'll go down the budget sheet.
Can we afford this or not, you know?
Well, I feel like Ryan said whenever he made a, you know, the comment about, you know, feeling uncomfortable or it's kind of out of our norm and stuff.
And this is out of my comfort zone.
I mean, if you think, you know, I haven't been in a, you know, an environment like this for a very long time.
You know, I'm a, I'm a people person.
I'm a, I'm a hands-on person.
Literally, I put my hands on people, you know, so being in a, Atmosphere like this, it does, you know, get a little uncomfortable.
But you know what?
I'm okay because I trust that God's going to lead me every step of the way.
I trust that He's going to speak for me and through me.
And that's all that I care about at the end of the day.
That's good.
But, you know, me and Diane, two, three years ago, we decided, hey, let's do a podcast.
And we didn't know nothing about doing a podcast.
And here we was, almost 70 years old, retired.
Well, who's going to listen to us?
So we just said we're going to be Peach State Patriots.
So we just got on there and started running our mouths.
And, you know, we made a lot of people mad.
But I remember going to the very first event.
And we're going to interview somebody, just do a cold interview.
And you do feel intimidated a little bit until you realize, hey, what?
I'm just me.
They're either going to answer me or they're not.
So, you know, we love what we're doing.
We're trying to make a difference.
And, you know, we got to meet Candace during this deal.
We have got to meet so many cool people.
And the irony of it all, when we met Candace on the square that day, and I had already...
We made contact and we were going to do an interview.
We actually did the interview at April Salon.
So it's just funny how the Lord says, you know, He orders our steps.
And it's so awesome to me when you look back over this journey, you know, that He did literally order our steps.
And I still believe Candace Taylor.
That God is going to do something mighty and going to continue to do mighty things through you.
The word he gave me for you in 22, I'm still standing on it.
I think we're going to still see, I think we're yet to see truths that are going to come forward.
And we've had a lot of politicians And we had one visit our church, actually.
You know, they want to put the 2020 election away, the 2022 election.
They don't want to go back to those things.
They want us to forget because it's behind us.
But if we don't fix those elections, You know, we've got to do that.
And I believe, even though we may forget from time to time, because we are forward-looking, but I believe that that's going to be rectified.
I believe we'll see it in 2024.
I think it's going to come forward still.
I'm still believing that by the Spirit of the Lord that there's going to be a lot of revelation this year.
And I've watched that same politician that came there change his view on the same policy three times at three different meetings.
He's back and forth, back and forth, isn't he?
Double-minded, unstable in all their ways.
Brent, what were you going to say?
I was waiting on Brent.
I'm waiting on him.
I'm waiting on him to say something.
I was just going to speak on April, just one minute, so people really know.
But she, April has a passion for this county.
Through and through, we've both lived here our whole life.
You know, we've raised two beautiful girls in the Troop County school system.
We've helped along the way.
We've coached and have been affiliated with, you know, sports all through our kids growing up.
But she truly has a passion for this county, and she's doing this for the right reasons.
She's doing it for For the people.
You know, we constantly hear the phrase of, that's the way we've always done it kind of thing, and that's why I think we're in the situation that we're in.
But I really feel that she can jump in and make a difference.
Like you said before, she is not a yes man.
Trust me, I know for sure.
But she will listen to the people and hear You know, hear what their concerns are with our county.
I know there's a lot and, you know, you were talking about the budget thing and the financial side of everything.
Well, we, you know, we've always been brought up through, I mean, you bring up like Dave Ramsey stuff, but living within your means, you know.
Just the same advice your grandmother would give, you know, kind of thing.
Just a common sense approach and not just, you know, unlimited spending on whatever.
But she really does have a heart for this county and is in this for the right reason.
You guys have been married how many years?
24 this year.
24.
24.
I know, and you guys both do a Bible study.
We meet once a month there for that Bible study, which is neat.
Twice a month.
He's coming once a month.
He always comes when there's food.
He wants to know what the menu's gonna be.
Yeah, fried chicken, Jack's gonna be there.
The thing that I love about both of you guys is you're just regular people.
You're just good old hearted people.
And, you know, you do the right thing just for the right reasons.
And I know Candace, you and Ryan, you know, we met you guys on the trail and y'all were just Good people.
You can sense good people and you got good foundation and good marriages and all y'all love Jesus and that's what builds it.
And then you carry that same excitement going into your position.
And don't be ashamed of Jesus when you get in those meetings.
I mean, if no one else wants to pray, you still pray.
You know, I remember back when I was working, and we'd have a corporate meeting, and there was this one guy, and he did it just to aggravate me, but he would use the Lord's name in vain.
He did it on purpose.
And every time he did it, right in the middle of that meeting, I would stop and say, Skip, hold up!
And I'd say, Lord Jesus, please forgive this man.
He don't know what he's doing.
Please forgive him.
And then I'd just go back to the meeting.
A few minutes later, he'd do it again.
I'd do it again.
But guess what?
He got ready to do it one time, but he started stopping.
Because, hey, and that's what it takes.
You've got to be bold, and you've got to stand up for this stuff.
And, you know, I'm excited for the difference what both of you guys are going to make.
And like you, Candice, I pray that when people see this podcast, they get there.
They want to make a difference.
You know, one of the areas I think that we're really lacking in is good people for our school boards.
Because, I mean, it was just shocking to me.
And I've got a grandson and a granddaughter in elementary school.
But it was just shocking to me of the literature and the books that they got in there.
I mean, that's pure pornography that they're doing.
And it just blows me away.
And we need people that care, you know, people that are passionate about that and want to get in there and make a difference and care about the teachers and the students and care about getting the budget right.
And we do.
The Board of Education is so important because it is the foundation.
The kids and people say, well, you know, you can homeschool when you need private school.
You can, but there's always going to be a place for public education.
And we are we're The people that can't afford to go to private school or they can't afford to homeschool, these are the kids that need the most protection from evil and from transgender pushing and from sexualization of the kids and the critical race theory and all the other things.
They need just to know who they are and be grounded.
And if we don't have the opportunity to raise them in a school system that's going to protect their innocence, We're the problem.
And that's sad to think about a public school system being the problem, but we could actually be the problem instead of the solution.
I want to say one thing.
I've been listening to when April was talking about going in as a woman and, you know, feeling like you're not seen.
And, you know, they're looking at Brent before they look at her.
And that has happened to me, too, when I was running.
And it's comical to me because...
A lot of times when that happens, it's men who have women who are not strong.
They're narcissists or they're, you know, I love alpha men, but to me, an alpha man is a man who knows who he is so much, he can have a really strong woman and still lead her, right?
Absolutely.
Could never have a woman like me or April or Diane because they're weak.
And so they're the ones that don't want to acknowledge.
But whenever we have a spiritual covering of an alpha male who is like, you know what?
I'm going to lift my wife up because she's smart and she knows and she loves the Lord and I'm going to cover her and I'm going to pray for her and I'm going to, you know, go and campaign for her because she can do it and she can do a really good job.
That says more about his character than it does ours.
And so when people come and they do those things, I just think, bless your heart.
It's something inside of you that is weak.
You're a weak man because you can't acknowledge a woman.
And so I'm not this feminist person.
I want to see alpha men run this country.
We have a good old boy system in Georgia and a lot of the country, but I know here in Georgia, and it's from local to state to federal, where they get in there and they may have a good intention, but they fall right in line with crooked politicians.
And so we're going to have to have women to come up and say, no, you're not going to buy me.
No, you're not going to offer me a million dollars or two or five because I've been offered all three to get me to shut up.
I'm not going to do that.
I'm going to do what's right because I'm bought and paid for the blood of Jesus and there's nothing you can do about that.
And so we have to have a shake-up.
And how we have that shake-up are people who don't feel comfortable, like Ryan, like me, like Like April, Brent, and Jack and Diane to get involved.
And maybe it's not running for the office.
Maybe it's door knocking.
Maybe it's putting out signs.
Maybe it's giving $25 today to April and Ryan's campaign.
Whatever it is, you can do your part and everybody can participate and we can take the country back together.
Amen.
I was going to bring up one thing about us talking about the Board of Education and just share a quick story of one of the other, you know, moments that I experienced before I actually met Candace that really ignited that fire that happened in 2020.
Right before our kids were getting ready to go back to school in 21, they decided two days before the Before school started that August to mask our kids again.
And so, you know, my daughter was, I think, a junior at that time.
But what was happening, she had spent the whole summer there at her high school practicing for volleyball.
The football players were practicing.
The softball players were practicing.
And they had absolute nothing on them as far as, oh, we're going to wear masks to do this.
Two days before school started, the parents get an email stating that they were going to reinforce the mask mandate again.
So, me and a couple other parents got together and actually started talking to some board members, actually got some advice for some board members to help them, you know, help us prepare to be able, because they weren't going to do a secret meeting at like a nine o'clock meeting.
For the public announcement of what they were going to do, then the public found out they had to change it to an afternoon meeting to where people like me who actually work have to take off to do other things as far as going to these events and these meetings.
I will never forget that week calling and talking to my representative in District 2, who was sitting on the board at that time, and when I was explaining to him and talking to him as a concerned parent, The comment that he made to me was, well, if you don't like our school system, you always have the choice to homeschool or put your kid in private school.
Wow.
And let me just tell you, that statement set me on fire because I was like, excuse me, what did you just say to me?
And then as soon as he realized what he said to me, started backpedaling a little bit and started apologizing.
I didn't mean it that way.
And I said, well, you clearly said it that way.
You know, because I don't, you know, some people may have that luxury, but Brent and I, we both provide income for our families.
We're both hardworking people.
And we're not going to spend our money on private schools or homeschooling because we believe in our school system should be, you know, should work for us and our kids.
And, and, but I mean, this was days before they were about to go back to school whenever they redid that.
And so a group of parents, we actually spoke at that board meeting, and I was the first one to speak.
And the whole board sat there.
And I mean, it was a blank stare on every single one of them that were sitting in that position.
And it just opened my eyes to, once again, OK, this is what we're dealing with.
And so it helps you prepare and go in at a totally different strategy after you've experienced that, for sure.
I'm excited that we have been able to just talk about all this stuff today.
You know, I did have a lady talking about the school board again.
We talked to a lady in California, and she had about three years.
She was a principal, and she told us herself, she said, I had to leave, even though I had three years to fully retire as a principal.
And she said, because they were lying about The fact that the counselors were not helping the kids make the decision to transition.
They were denying that they were doing it.
She said, but yet they were.
And she said, I just could not be a part of that anymore.
I had to step away.
It was making me sick.
And I was like, wow.
You know, what a shame.
She needs to go back in there and be on the board, doesn't she?
Yes.
We need to call and tell her that.
She'd make a good one because she knows the inside.
Well, Ryan, do you want to just kind of wrap up and just kind of what you got going on and how people can contact you?
How can they make donations to you and stuff like that?
Yeah, I would like to encourage those that are out at their house watching this that, listen, you may not have interned for a politician or worked in somebody's cabin, but listen, people want normal citizens to run for these seats.
Life will give you the experience you need to run for these offices.
Whenever I sat down to look at the office that I'm running for, which is probate judge, I realized that in my hometown on the website, there's just an address and a phone number.
But when you look at other counties, you can e-file.
They have education about everything.
And I realized that I used to work in IT before I was an educator.
And what would be difficult for another candidate that's running, it would be super easy to I'm already equipped to bring our county into the future so they can e-file, so they have all these forms online, so I can educate the community and make sure everybody has a will.
I can put a template on there.
Just so much that I'll be able to do that's easy, that will be a huge blessing to the community.
And that's just like something given to me so easily.
That's just a life experience.
It's not because I helped a politician or somebody groomed me for that seat.
Listen, Be confident in who you are.
God has given you what you need, and He'll give you the grace to follow through with it.
Listen, you can find me on my Facebook page.
It's Ryan Taylor for her probate judge.
And also, it's linked to our Facebook account, which is just Ryan Taylor or Ryan and Candace Taylor.
And if you'd like to support what I'm doing here in Applin County, I really appreciate you helping me buy signs or any kind of material.
And you can find us on Facebook.
And we'll have it in the comments, too, in the video and embed it in when I share it on mine.
And then Ms.
Diane and Mr.
Jack can put it embedded in their comments when they share it, like links to donate.
And so, April, if you'll, too, tell them how to find you and how to donate to your campaign.
Listen, every little thing counts, even if you just want to buy one yard sign or do anything like that.
It's so honorable.
It's amazing when you feel the support from people that every little seat matters.
We want to put patriots in every seat.
We want to put God-fearing people in every seat.
And one thing that the Lord spoke to me about is that if...
If we put people in office that listen to the Holy Spirit, that are led by the Holy Spirit, then our country will be led by the Holy Spirit.
That's what we want.
We want our nation to be on fire for God, to be led in the right way.
Our forefathers, when they came over here, even on the History Channel, it says that they came here on a mission from God.
And listen, we still are carrying out that same mission locally or even nationally.
Whatever you can step out, whatever you can do, we're still carrying out that mission to be all that God wants us to be.
And so thank you for supporting us.
Thanks for listening.
And I'll say, so $25 is what you're going to spend at a fast food restaurant for even two people.
It's insane how much things cost.
So I'm going to challenge everybody listening today to give $10 to Ryan and $10 to April.
And so we'll have their information where you can donate easily online.
But $10.
So that's $20.
If you can't do $20 and that's too much, give them $5 each.
Give them $10.
$5 each.
But you can do that.
Everybody can do that.
It will not hurt you.
And you will invest in the change of this country and the change of the government.
Our first donation came $20 from California.
Somebody that's been following me since I started running.
That is amazing.
We think California is corrupt and whatever.
She's a patriot in California.
She wanted to invest in Ryan, and she'll probably invest today in April.
So listen, it takes everybody, no matter what state you're in, we change this government one seat at a time.
That's right.
That's right.
And I tell you, I'm sorry, Ryan.
Go ahead.
What I was going to tell you is that Elijah, when he was in the Bible, he got so discouraged and he was telling God, listen, I'm like the only one left.
And God told him, no, no, no, I have many followers.
So listen, let the patriots know that they're not alone.
You know?
So that's a good way to give $10.
That's right.
And you know, we really have discovered that.
We have talked to people all over this country in recent months, and there are so many more of us than there are of who they want us to think they are out there.
And I cannot tell you, both of you couples, from a grandparent standpoint, How precious it is to me to see couples like you going to lead the charge.
And so as we leave this world, if the good Lord sees fit for us to leave, you know, we're in our fourth quarter.
We're hoping it's the beginning of the quarter.
We're the same age.
You know what I mean?
We're the same age.
We're hoping it's the beginning of the quarter.
We're the 11 to 12.
No, I hope not.
But anyway, I wanted to say how very proud.
I know your parents and grandparents are so proud of both of you.
And we are just honored to have y'all in our lives and to be able to watch what God's going to do.
It's going to be so mighty.
And you know what?
You're probably going to even see people saved because of your stand for the love of the Lord, even in the political arena, even if you can imagine that.
I believe that will happen.
I really, really do.
And we're just honored that you chose to be with us today and to share your love, not only for this country, your community, but for your Lord, because that's what it's all about, is really loving Him first, and everything else will flow like it's supposed to.
So it's an honor, isn't it, Jack?
Oh, yeah.
And when you walk in that annoying...
The people around you, they're going to be attracted to it.
And the ones that are against it, they're not going to know what's going on.
They're going to say, why are they different?
What's going on with them?
Why are they like they are?
And eventually, guess what?
They're going to start moving towards you.
They're going to start moving towards you.
And when they start seeing, hey, there is a movement going on here.
But again, we appreciate you guys being here.
We love you guys, and we look forward to it.
And hopefully, we'll have a big old podcast and a celebration of victory.
That's what we're counting on.
Hey, April, tell me your address really quick, April, your email, your website.
Yes, you can contact me at april4commissioner.com, and you can also find me on Facebook for April for Commissioner District 2 on the Facebook page, which is just, it's been so fun, and just the amount of support that we've already seen, it's just, it's humbling, and it's just, it makes your heart just pound out of your chest.
Yeah.
This has been fun so far, so I'm really excited.
I do feel like that once I kind of verbally stated, okay, this is what I'm going to do, A lot of that pressure just went away.
And, you know, I know that Ryan's probably going to feel the exact same way.
It's just, it's so humbling.
And then it's almost like you have to take it in that people are, they're there to support you.
And they are just, they're excited for you and they want success for you.
And that's a really cool place to be.
And I just know that we're going to do great things.
I know we're going to do great things.
The Lord said after the state convention, whenever we were there, you know, he did.
I shared this with Candace and I've actually shared it with my church.
He showed me the vision of a red wave.
But when you hear that in mainstream media or even in a lot of, you know, Journalists, you know, just citizen journalists, you know, you think about, oh, the red Republican wave.
And it was completely opposite of what God spoke into my heart that next day after we got home that Sunday and I was in church.
And he just said, no, he said, this has nothing to do with a red wave of a political party.
This is a red wave of my anointed covered in my blood that's going to take back this nation.
And it's going to start with our seats.
It's going to start with our backyard.
And that's so important.
And I know that, you know, Candace and Ryan both are just, you know, advocates of pushing that.
It's, you know, clean up your backyard first.
Quit worrying about what's going on in Washington right now.
Let's fix our backyard.
And, you know, I'm excited to be a part of it.
And I just know, I know we're going to do good things.
I just want to see a video of Brent door knocking.
So make sure you video him door knocking and say, hey, I need your vote for my wife, okay?
I've already been knocking.
I know, but I want to see a video.
I want to see it, Brent.
I'm going to put it on my video.
I want to say, y'all, look, this is an alpha male husband knocking doors for his wife.
That's right.
Absolutely.
Him and Jack are going to hold hands and do it.
I'll stand behind you, Brent.
He's not scared.
No, but I'm definitely just here to support her and yes, I'm so proud of her and I can't wait to see what happens and what a difference we can make in this community.
Well, 2024 is going to be a big year.
It already is.
2024 is a big year for all of us, so we're excited about it.
And we just want to close the broadcast now.
We feel like it's time.
And so we love you both, both couples, and just pray that everything goes exceedingly abundantly above all that you could even ask or think.
And God's going to prosper you both.
We're excited about watching it.
And just know that we love you.
And remember, we always close the broadcast by saying, remember, you make the difference because Christ in you is truly the hope of glory.
Amen.
See you next time.
And stand for your flag.
That's right.
Stand for your flag.
Absolutely.
I'll find you.
Hey, everybody.
I want you to go to HeavensHarvest.com, promo code KANDICE, and I want you to get prepped.
We don't know what's coming, who knows, but regardless whether it's a hurricane, national disaster, or the whole government shuts down, they have awesome deals on freeze-dried food.
In fact, they have a new item, it's freeze-dried cans.
It's a lot less expensive than the big barrels.
