| Hi, ladies and gentlemen, this is Harrison Smith reporting live from outside of Trump Tower in the heart of New York City. | |
| That's right, the Golden Tower where the God Emperor himself started all of this crazy trip we've been on for the last year. | |
| And we wanted to come here to talk about a couple things. | |
| Basically, the symbolism that this represents. | |
| Not only is it this Golden Tower where this golden-haired phoenix came out of to wrest the controls of the nation away from I mean, fantasy literature couldn't come up with something so appropriate. | |
| But it's a symbol for another reason, and that's the resurgence of New York in the 80s when it was built. | |
| See, New York had suffered at least a decade, even more, of decline, where in a lot of ways they were succumbing to the, they were giving up to the slow degradation, giving in to crime, giving in to hopelessness. | |
| And Trump understood that what you needed to combat that was not to give in slowly, step by step, not to fight these little battles here and there. | |
| It was to go at it big and strong and create something that gave people hope. | |
| And so that's really what he did, and a lot of people really credit him for this resurgence of hope in New York, that he was able to build this massive, amazing, quite classy, I think he would say, tower when everything else was sort of falling apart. | |
| And I really fell in love with this tower and this idea when I read Art of the Deal. | |
| When Donald Trump first got elected, I decided I should probably read Art of the Deal and figure out some more stuff about him. | |
| And that was written, I believe, in 1985. | |
| And it really gives you an insight into who Trump is and how he does things. | |
| And it gives an insight into what it's like to even be a real estate developer and to understand just how many moving parts have to come into place and how you don't just do something quickly. | |
| And that's something that it's been a year since Trump has been president. | |
| And nowadays, people are a little bit more confident. | |
| If you ask supporters, what do you think, how do you think he's been doing with the tax cuts and with the success of the stock market, people are generally saying, okay, yeah, he's doing pretty well. | |
| But in terms of justice, in terms of these things that we actually elected him for, people are a little disappointed. | |
| And they expect things to have been done much more quickly. | |
| But the thing is, if you read out of the deal, if you read some of his old books, you start to understand that to build a building like this, you don't build a building like this quickly. - Right. | |
| Just for all the moving parts, I mean, for years, he decided he wanted a building in this location. | |
| So he found out who owned it. | |
| And then he had to talk to those people and get agreements that he would be the first one to get the first available option on it. | |
| And then he had to get permits from the city. | |
| And he talks about how he deals with the city and how ever since the early 80s, he's been battling with the government, either local or national, to try to get things done in the face of their constant obstructionism. | |
| But the point is that before you ever lay the first foundation stone, there have been years of plans. | |
| There have been years of negotiations. | |
| There have been years of organizing that has gone in to doing something like this. | |
| And so that's the way that Trump works. | |
| You have to think of him bringing back America like the building of a skyscraper, that it's only been a year. | |
| And we're still laying the groundwork. | |
| We're still pounding the foundation and digging the sewer lines and doing all the things that need to be done. | |
| So then you can start laying the piers and beams and rising up to the golden tower that we truly should be. | |
| And so I just wanted to bring that to you all and let everybody know that You know, things might not be moving as quickly as we think, but if you read Art of the Deal, if you read some of Donald Trump's other books, you understand that the way he does things is a methodical way, and not necessarily the quickest way, but it's done right. | |
| And usually it's, what does he say, under budget and quicker than you'd think. | |
| I'm butchering that, but you get what I'm saying. | |

| And one other thing I just want to say about Art of the Deal that I think is really funny, it's just another one of these things that when you read this book from 30 years ago, it gives you insight into what's happening today. | |
| And one of those things is that the latter half of the book is talking about the USFL, which was Donald Trump's attempt to break the NFL monopoly, and how he didn't like that the NFL had this monopoly on pro football, and he went in to establish a... | |
| And that just gives a little bit of insight into his combativeness with the NFL now. | |
| So it's just another one of these things that really gives you a great insight into who Trump is, into his methodology, and the way that he sees the world. | |
| And I think if people understood that more and understood that what he's doing is he's trying to bring hope, he sees things sort of falling apart around him, and he says, we don't need to approach things small, we don't need to nitpick here and there, here and We need to just drive forward and give people a symbol of hope. | |
| And that's what Trump Tower is, and I think that's what Donald Trump is. | |
