Time Text
Will Democrats be bringing a new message to 2018 and beyond?
You know, their plans for bringing jobs back to the country, increasing wages, fixing the economy and healthcare.
You know, all of those things that seem to be missing from Democratic strategy in 2016 and instead were replaced with identity politics?
Well, yeah, good luck with that.
One MSNBC contributor thinks a great strategy would be to make A top priority in campaign platforms.
Let me ask you quickly, though.
You say you want impeachment to be part of the message.
Do you get the sense the Democratic leadership is comfortable with that?
Or do they think, is there a fear there that that's given?
When I see Speaker Pelosi or former Speaker Pelosi, he doesn't seem very comfortable with that right now.
But when you talk to the base of the Democratic Party, you talk to the folks who are out there in the streets, the folks who are claiming hashtag resistance.
Impeachment needs to be a part of the messaging if the Democratic Party wants to reach out to the people who are...
Basically, Peterson wants the Democrats to keep on losing.
This strategy is nothing more than an attempt to distract Americans from the fact that they're keeping more money in their pockets at the end of each month, thanks to Republican tax reform, and instead hopes to preoccupy them with these delusions of impeachment.
No solutions, just divide and conquer drama.
This was the losing strategy in 2016.
It cost them the White House.
Many people were disappointed in Hillary Clinton's apparent lack of a real plan for the country.
She did a disastrous job of communicating that plan to the country.
Most of her campaign ads were just negative attack ads against Donald Trump.
And Democrats were out there campaigning on a platform of racism and sexism, just pointing fingers at their opponents everywhere, not providing any solutions that would actually attract people to their party.
Now, Senator Cory Booker, he's being touted as a possible contender for the Democratic presidential nomination.
He is sticking to that losing plan.
He has been circulating an online petition calling on President Trump to resign over allegations of sexual harassment.
Now, Mr. Booker was one of many senators who called upon Al Franken to step down in the face of mounting sexual harassment allegations against him, but we know that this was just a transparent move by the Democrats to claim that moral high ground so that they could weaponize allegations And take out their political opponents without any due process, right?
We saw right through that.
Now, bless her heart.
Even Nancy Pelosi says impeachment is not the road we want to go down.
She says Republicans would love for us to make our campaign about the impeachment of Trump, but it'd be a waste of time.
People should instead focus on pushing issues that are important to the Democratic Party.
Former Ohio Democratic Congressman Dennis Kochenik agrees.
First of all, we have to be careful that we're not trying to recreate the 2016 election.
And I think that we want to bring Democrats back who may have voted for Donald Trump and a way to do that instead of focusing on replacing President Trump and bringing in a President Pence.
We ought to be focusing on the things that attract people to the Democratic Party.
Pelosi and Kuchenik are holding out hope that the Democrats can show the country that the party can actually govern.
Democrats should really be concerned about the fact that after eight years of divisive identity politics and economic decline, a sizable chunk of Democratic voters were so skeptical of Democratic solutions to their problems, they actually switched their vote to Trump.
Republicans would love to see Democrats stick with this losing strategy in 2018 and beyond.
But beware of that lazy thinking that they're just going to destroy themselves.
Now, it's true, the American people voted against political correctness, they voted against identity politics, but they're also starting to see through the facade of the left-right paradigm and this divide-and-conquer strategy that's rolled out every single election cycle to keep us fighting amongst ourselves rather than focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of our candidates.
That's not gonna work anymore.
The American people have gotten a little taste of what it feels like to be winners.
We are winning again under President Trump, and we're not gonna want to go back to the old system.
I predict that the American people are going to start voting, not on party lines, but they're gonna start voting for the candidate that's there to provide solutions and not just point fingers.
