| This time they botched a major bombshell report by misreporting key details alleging contacts between WikiLeaks and Don Jr. So they published this early morning account of a September 4th email that was sent to the Trump team and it contained a decryption key and website address for hacked WikiLeaks documents. | |
| And this would have been the same day that Trump Jr. first... | |
| and Hillary Clinton. | |
| So they thought they totally had this in the bag. | |
| They also added that the email indicated the Trump campaign could access some hacked documents from former Secretary of State Colin Powell, whose hacked emails were made public by a Russian front group 10 days later. | |
| The only problem? | |
| They got the date wrong. | |
| This would have been a major bombshell for CNN to get it out first had it been true because that would mean that the Trump team was given access to WikiLeaks about 10 days before WikiLeaks actually dropped those bombshell emails. | |
| So they had to issue a correction. | |
| This story has been corrected to say the date of the email was September 14th, not September 4th, 2016. | |
| They also changed the headline, removed a tweet from Donald Trump Jr. | |
| And then CNN has to go on and say the new information indicates that the communication is less significant than CNN initially reported. | |

| But yet an entire day went on with CNN pumping out this fake bombshell story. | |
| And it's very significant, the date change here, because if indeed this email had been sent on September 4th, it would mean that someone... | |
| The Russian agent was trying to get the Trump team, give them access to some WikiLeaks documents that still had not been made publicly available. | |
| But the fact that the email was sent September 14th shows that the WikiLeaks drop had already happened. | |
| And I think it was about 12 hours that it had already been made publicly available. | |
| So CNN got this majorly wrong. | |

| Outlet to point this out, that the WikiLeaks, they were already made public, that you guys got the date wrong. | |
| Now Washington Post is saying, wow, CNN just armed Trump with new ammunition to launch another fake news attack. | |
| CNN originally reported this because... | |
| Two sources who had seen the email told that to CNN. So Donald Trump Jr.'s attorney is really upset over this and wondering how this type of information could have been leaked out early from the House Intelligence Committee investigation. | |
| His attorney said that this message was one of thousands turned over to the House Intelligence Committee and others investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election. | |
| Those emails included spam and junk emails. | |
| The email was never read. | |
| He said, Trump Jr.'s attorney is also really upset, | |
| saying that he and Trump Jr. had to surrender their electronic devices during this interview for security reasons, but details of the session leaked out before it was even concluded. | |
