Time Text
This is Richard Reeves in West Des Moines, Iowa with Infowars.com, and we just got through hearing Donald Trump come make his acceptance speech for second place.
Who are we with here?
My name is Dan.
This is my wife Sharon.
So we've got Dan and Sharon.
So Dan, what do you think about tonight's event?
Well, I think it's been a lot of fun.
We participated in the caucus.
There were a lot of people that came out, more people that caucused than ever before.
People are very excited about being part of the process.
They're really into it.
They want to see leadership change over.
And we got to hear a lot about some really good candidates, lots of great ideas on the Republican side.
And I think we were very positive about what went on with Trump.
It was a very close race, but I think his message...
He continues to be very positive.
He still shows to be a leader.
And I think it'll pan out over the next several days with all the different states.
So tell me, do you recall roughly what the results were in your caucus?
Yeah, in our caucus, we were in Urbandale, and it went Rubio, and then Cruz, and then Trump.
And it was all very close.
So in our area, Rubio actually won.
Right.
As a matter of fact, my cameraman and I, we attended a caucus here in West Des Moines, and Rubio won that.
But one thing we've heard is the constant drumbeat, and let me ask you if you've heard this, ever since last Thursday's Fox News debate, the drumbeat has been Rubio is surging, Rubio is surging, Marco Rubio is surging, Marco Rubio is surging.
I mean, have you experienced that?
Well, I think we did in our caucus.
I think there were a number of people that were still undecided when they showed up to the caucus tonight.
And when the vote came out, you know, Rubio won in our area.
But what I'm saying is the media, by just constantly that repetition of Rubio's surgeon, it's almost like a mind control event that I think really made it come to fruition.
That's okay.
It's energizing the system.
We're getting out to vote, and that's what we need.
We need to energize ourselves, and it energizes the candidates, and they get tougher, and they become actually more and more friends.
They become friends on that stage.
You don't think so, but they do.
They support each other at the end.
Well, Donald Trump is going to have to figure out some way to up the game because, you know, it's kind of a surprise.
It looked like he was really going to be able to run the table here in Iowa.
But also, Ted Cruz, you've got to congratulate him because...
He definitely had the full ground game going on.
I mean, to do the full Grassley, do 99 counties.
Did you see any cruise events, and what are your thoughts about Ted Cruz?
Well, I didn't see any cruise events personally.
Just the debates.
But, you know, the thing I like about Ted Cruz is his idea to get rid of the IRS. Wouldn't that be awesome?
I'd do my own taxes.
It'd be so great if they were easy.
Oh, yeah.
I'll tell you what, if we could bring that down to zero pages would be terrific.
That would be awesome.
This is the Republican year.
We're going to do it.
Absolutely.
Speaking of Republican, Democrat, what do you think about this tight race between Hillary and Bernie?
You know what I think?
I think that President Obama is going to allow Hillary to get prosecuted so that his candidate, Biden, can get into the race.
And not having to debate.
What an easy way, huh?
Right.
I just think Biden didn't want to run through the gauntlet of doing the Iowa, doing the full Grassley, doing all the different campaign events.
I think he wanted a shortcut.
Yeah, I think they're going to run the end around or the Statue of Liberty play when it comes to football, you know?
I think United States, we're missing the superpower, and we need to come back to be a superpower again.
Well, I think we're on our way one way or another.
Donald Trump, no matter what, no matter what the result is, he is having a huge influence, right?
I think as conservative as Iowa is in different ways, I think this was a good result for Donald.
I really do.
Yeah, Iowa's tough and, like...
Somebody asked me a while back, I said, what's it going to take for Donald Trump to win this?
I said, well, one thing that a lot of Iowans want to do is they want to touch the hem.
They want to touch the Emperor's hem.
They want to shake the hand.
They want to look in the eye.
And that is a big thing for Iowans, isn't it?
It is.
It is.
And being able to go first, Iowans get that opportunity probably more than anybody else.
But the rest of the world gets to see that happen, gets to see people...
Meet up with people who are farmers and iron workers and small business people.
And we have big businesses in Des Moines and on the Quad Cities and in Council Bluffs.
So you've still got three cities that they have to go to in addition to all the rural areas.
So it's a good dichotomy for everybody to go through.
All right.
Well, any last thoughts for our viewers out there?
Vote.
Yep, get out and vote.
And read.
Read.
Understand what our candidates want to do.
Enjoy the process.
