Now, we all know about the attack that happened in Chattanooga where a lone wolf attacker shot up a Marine and Navy recruiting center, killing four Marines and a Navy soldier.
Now, this has sparked debate all over the country where people are asking why our armed service members who go overseas and fight and die for their country cannot come back.
Now, we understand that the governors of Texas, Oklahoma, and many others have signed in a bill to allow the National Guard to carry, but they also have armed security and fences around those perimeters.
Armed Forces Recruiting Centers that are all over the place are in the middle of shopping malls.
They have zero protection whatsoever.
Now myself and a few other people guarded an Armed Forces Recruiting Center in South Austin where the police department left a dummy vehicle unmanned.
And then that was it.
A few police officers drove by and talked to me only because a couple people called in 911 because they saw a guy wearing a bulletproof vest, which was me, and an assault rifle standing in front of the Armed Forces Recruiting Center pulling guard.
Now, that's understandable.
People might see that in question, but there was also many more Americans who drove by saying thank you, and then all the servicemen and women who work inside the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines came out and said thank you for protecting us.
We wish we had the ability to do so ourselves.
Now, a lot of people are wondering if this would happen again.
One of the staff sergeants in one of the armed forces recruiting centers came up to me yesterday and said that, in fact, that a lot of the different offices throughout Las Vegas, Florida, and even in San Marcos had gotten death threats from people.
And then a lot of the different recruiting offices are getting calls where people call, hang up, call, hang up, call, hang up, back and forth.
So there's definitely a lot of suspicious activity going on.
So what I want to do is encourage a lot of people to get out there right now.
Go to the local recruiting office near your hometown.
And stand guard.
Help those guys out.
Those are the ones who go overseas and fight and die for your country so you have the liberties, the freedoms to sit around, moan, complain, and gripe, whatever it is you do.
You're not happy with what I said.
You don't like what I have to do.
And you have that ability to gripe about it.
You have freedom of speech because of the fact these guys go over there and fight and die for those liberties.
So please, if you have nothing to do today, tomorrow, try to get a little group going in your neighborhood, set up shifts, just be there when they're there.
You don't need to be there when they close down after 8 o'clock at night or on the weekend when they're not there, but just a few hours a day if you can drive by, stop, go in, let those people know that you're out there, you're helping keep eyes out, just in case something does happen, because no one wants to feel vulnerable, and especially now that the Marine Corps feels like they're singled out.
And I think that's why they've ordered that stand-down of the uniforms.
So you'll see a lot of these Marine recruiting stations where they'll be in civilian attire because of this.
You know, there's nothing worse than the feeling for a Marine to not be able to wear his uniform.
You know, my father was a Marine.
My best friend, David, who basically is my brother, was a Marine.
So I grew up around Marines my entire life.
And to strip them of the uniform is something that's very demeaning.
And I know it just kills them inside to not be able to have that because they take a lot of pride in it.
So just show these people that you care.
Go out and do something because I'll be out there today and tomorrow.
I'm going to do as much as I can to make sure that these guys feel safe at home and to let them know that there's people out there that care.
