Steve Pieczenik - Local Opus 1 Write In Stasia Rudolph Aired: 2018-10-18 Duration: 02:26 [00:00:01] Hello, local citizens in North Central Florida. [00:00:04] My name is Stasha Rudolph, and I'm here to tell you about a big problem in Bradford County. [00:00:10] I'm a resident of Melrose, Florida, which is in Bradford County, and this problem is really big, as in 11,000 acres of a phosphate strip mine proposed for Bradford and Union County. [00:00:23] Union County said, this doesn't smell right. [00:00:26] Let's do a year moratorium. [00:00:28] Oh, and then a second year moratorium so we could really work on our land use regulations to protect our water and our wetlands and our aquifer. [00:00:38] Bradford County took a different approach. [00:00:40] They said, oh, waltz right in and do a permit, do another permit, predatory mine company, under the shill of a local company called HSP. And even the county attorney says, yes, let us help you by establishing a quasi-judicial situation where now no representative of the county No Bradford County Commissioner can even talk about the proposed mine to local citizens that are concerned. [00:01:05] Hmm. [00:01:05] And then we were supposed to have a workshop so the mining company could tell us how great this phosphate strip mine is. [00:01:12] Hmm. [00:01:13] Workshop canceled. [00:01:14] So now, two years into this, we ask ourselves, what is going on? [00:01:19] We read all about phosphate strip mining and how DeSoto County said no. [00:01:24] Four to one. [00:01:25] The County Commission said no to Mosaic's mine. [00:01:28] Expansion plan. [00:01:29] So Mosaic Mine and other mining companies are looking for virgin turf and they've settled on Bradford County because it's an easy mark. [00:01:38] What to do? [00:01:39] Well, there is one thing you can do and it's really easy. [00:01:42] It's vote for me for County Commissioner. [00:01:45] Now you're going to have to do a little work because I'm a write-in candidate. [00:01:48] So here I'm showing you what to do. [00:01:50] It's County Commissioner, District 4. [00:01:53] Right underneath Danny Riddick's name, there's a spot for a write-in candidate. [00:01:57] Write in my name, Stasha Rudolph. [00:02:00] And make sure you color in the little circle. [00:02:03] I am not afraid of predatory mining companies, and I will not listen to bad advice from county attorneys. [00:02:10] I do not want a phosphate strip mine. [00:02:13] Many people don't. [00:02:15] And I say, just say no. [00:02:17] And write me in Stasha Rudolph, District 4 County Commissioner, and I will fight for clean water and no phosphate strip mine.
