Hi, this is Dr. this is Dr. Steve Pachanek and this is Steve Talks.
Pchenik.
This week I want to talk about an incident that occurred in England, which in some ways baffles me.
A double agent, particularly a Russian double agent who Who was in the military intelligence, the GRU, and was transferred in exchange for another spy, was poisoned, as was his daughter.
Everybody was up in arms, and I began to say to myself, why is this so important?
Usually, double agents usually work for two different customers, and they receive money on both ends, and this individual, Sergei, let's call him, was also corrupt, and he brought in millions and millions of dollars into London.
Now, why is Theresa May so upset that this was an affront to her national character or to England?
Well, it wasn't an affront.
In fact, Putin has the right to take out any of his operatives that he wants at any time for any reason.
That is not our concern.
It is neither the concern of America nor really the concern of Britain.
What Britain has to be concerned about, and this is what I'm afraid Theresa May really doesn't understand, is I've said for quite a long while that she is not really prepared to develop the strategy and tactics for an effective Brexit, the exit of Britain from the EU. At the same time, I don't think she wants to address the issues that England, and particularly London, the financial center, It's rife with corruption.
The reasons Russian kleptocrats come there and usually ex-KGB agents is because they have very loose financial regulations.
In fact, there are no regulations as to finances with respect to Russian exiles.
Most of these exiles have received their money from the Kremlin legally and illegally.
And Putin has overseen them.
When I lived in Miami and South Beach, I was very much aware of all the Russian immigrants who came there, all of whom were kleptocrats, all of whom had been formerly KGB operatives, all of whom took advantage of the fact that we, I and others, had taken down the Soviet Union, but we didn't want to rape it for its money or its assets.
But in turn, The ex-KGB agents went in and raped the hell out of England.
So now I'm wondering why in fact is Theresa May and the EU so upset?
The simple fact is that the EU and Britain has their own problems.
They have their own financial problems, their own national security problems, and other problems that have nothing to do with Putin.
To understand Putin, you have to understand that he has been in the KGB and will act as a KGB operative most of his life.
He grew up in Leningrad.
His family died and suffered during the siege of Leningrad and he remembered that very well.
He also understood the takedown of the Soviet Union with guys like myself and others who were involved and he wondered how was that possible To take down an entire communist country and at the same time leave 25 million Russians without a country and that I do understand and in the strategy that I developed for the takedown of the Soviet Union I did not take that into account but I do understand his concerns and his pain on that.
He is very much a Russophile.
He understands Russia.
He understands the need for Russia.
Unlike most of us, he has suffered through the growth of Russia under Stalin and under the period where we took down the Soviet Union and we put in a drunk like Yeltsin, and then we took in an individual who was Gorbachev, a very bright man but not very effective, and there was a coup exercised against him.
In turn, Putin had to become what Russia really needed, a strong autocratic leader who would have Russia's concerns and interests in his mind.
Russia is a huge country.
It is far larger than the United States.
In the United States, we have four time zones.
In Russia, we have 11 time zones.
Its economy is not a strong economy.
It depends on gas and oil.
And for the most part, Putin has to maintain a balance between China, the EU, and the United States.
He has no reason to go around and killing other people other than the ones who work for him in the Kremlin.
That's his prerogative.
Let me say the following.
Otto Bismarck, the genius of the 20th century from Prussia, said the following.
If you want to make peace with Russia, create a peace treaty.
