Freedomain Radio - Stefan Molyneux - There Is No Healing... Aired: 2025-03-05 Duration: 04:47 === No Return to Normal (04:47) === [00:00:00] Okay, so you are a female, right? [00:00:04] No. [00:00:05] Um. [00:00:12] What is it? [00:00:12] I don't know what healing means in this context. [00:00:19] So healing, right? [00:00:20] Healing is something that we generally get from the body, right? [00:00:27] The physical realm, right? [00:00:28] You break your arm. [00:00:29] And your arm heals. [00:00:30] Like, I have this little finger here. [00:00:32] I was playing volleyball, and a guy spiked it straight into my finger and bent it backwards, and I could barely move it for weeks. [00:00:38] Like, now it's, like, 99% back to normal, right? [00:00:40] So it's healed, right? [00:00:42] It's back to normal. [00:00:43] I could stretch it a little bit more, but it doesn't really matter, right? [00:00:45] So, but yeah, it was sore for, like, a long time. [00:00:49] I mean, when I moved it too much, right? [00:00:51] So that's healing. [00:00:52] It's back to normal. [00:00:56] Break your arm. [00:00:57] Put it in a cast. [00:00:58] It heals back to normal, right? [00:01:04] So healing is a return to a pre-functioning state. [00:01:08] There is no healing in abused childhood because you cannot get to a pre-functioning state because you never had that in the first place. [00:01:15] If you grew up in a very violent, abusive, neglectful, dysfunctional environment, there's no healing, right? [00:01:23] I mean, because there is no, you know, pre-functional state. [00:01:28] That you can get back to. [00:01:29] There wasn't like a you that got damaged and then you can heal and go back to the you that was not damaged because you were damaged from the beginning. [00:01:38] And I don't say this to give you despair. [00:01:40] I say this to give you hope. [00:01:42] There is no return. [00:01:44] I do not think there'll be a return journey, Mr. Frodo. [00:01:46] There is no return journey. [00:01:47] There is no going back and being whole. [00:01:50] There is no going back and being undamaged. [00:01:53] You have to work with what is and that can be a great strength for you. [00:01:57] It can turn you into a very powerful person, but healing, from what I understand, and correct me, of course, if I've got something wrong, but there is no healing. [00:02:07] There is no healing in the way that it would happen with the body, where you have something functional, and then you return back to that. [00:02:13] Because there wasn't, if you grew up in a toxic, dysfunctional family, there was no functional you, because you were just surviving that from the very beginning, right? [00:02:20] There was no functional you that you can return to. [00:02:22] There is no circling back and making whole. [00:02:25] There is only pressing on. [00:02:26] And finding strength. [00:02:28] Finding strength in the suffering. [00:02:30] There is no going back and undoing the suffering. [00:02:32] There is no healing. [00:02:33] There is only pressing on and finding strength through the suffering. [00:02:42] I was told by a crazy German woman, don't think. [00:02:46] Okay, when a crazy person tells you not to think, probably the best thing you can do is think. [00:02:53] I was raised... [00:02:55] With an entire group of people who believed in subjective morality and lived pretty terrible lives. [00:03:00] So, if your fat uncle tells you what he eats, you don't follow that diet, right? [00:03:05] If your drunken uncle tells you, well, you know, alcohol technically is a solution. [00:03:17] It's how you deal with things. [00:03:18] Go out, party, have fun, drink, right? [00:03:20] And then he dies of liver failure or something. [00:03:24] And don't do that. [00:03:25] So, I was raised with a bunch of people who gave me massive examples of everything not to do, and I've lived my life in reaction to that insanity and found deep sanity. [00:03:42] you But I can't return to some sane thing that I had because I was raised by crazy people. [00:03:51] I can't return to some sane stuff that's... [00:03:53] Somehow back there, I can only press on to the same step that I get by judoing the trauma into deep and robust health, right? [00:04:04] There's no healing. [00:04:05] There's only health. [00:04:06] There's only pressing onto health. [00:04:08] No circling back. [00:04:09] There's no undo. [00:04:10] There's no original you that was not harmed, and I'm sorry for that. [00:04:13] I really am, and I'm not trying to give you any despair. [00:04:15] I'm trying to have you not wallow and circle back, trying to achieve something that can't be achieved called healing. [00:04:21] You can't heal yourself. [00:04:28] But you can press on and find strength in the suffering, find robustness and sanity, Like, I can't go back and be raised by sane people, but I can use the lessons of the insane people and become super sane myself. [00:04:44] There is no return to healing.
