Freedomain Radio - Stefan Molyneux - "CUTIES" CONTROVERSY! Aired: 2020-09-14 Duration: 04:05 === Controversial Children's Content (03:17) === [00:00:00] Talk about children. I haven't seen that film, or I think the film is called Cuties. [00:00:05] Everybody's talking about that. [00:00:07] If it's not real, they're using children to do twerking, stuff like that. [00:00:12] Is that... [00:00:14] Because I don't even want to see it, to be honest. [00:00:16] So, I don't know what to say about it. [00:00:19] Well, I mean, I've heard about the controversy. [00:00:22] I have... I mean, like yourself, I try not to eat food That's got tire tracks on it. [00:00:29] And I try not to watch content that is just appalling and horrifying. [00:00:34] And I think it's a Congolese woman who came and wrote this movie and directed this movie. [00:00:41] I don't know, man. [00:00:43] I mean, you've got people in the States calling for investigations into Netflix for distribution of child pornography. [00:00:52] And, you know, a guy I quite like, Scott Adams, he's a real free speech guy. [00:00:58] A real free speech guy. [00:00:59] And he watched some of it and he said, yeah, I'm a real free speech guy. [00:01:02] It's pretty hard to shock me, but somebody needs to go to jail for this. [00:01:05] And so I think it's absolutely appalling. [00:01:08] And it just shows you like the chain of, like the echo chamber, right? [00:01:12] That there's nobody... In that whole process, right? [00:01:16] This whole process of, you know, you write a script, then you get your funding, then you cast your actors, and you get your distributors, and you go to film festivals, and then you sign a deal with Netflix. [00:01:26] Like this whole chain of people. [00:01:29] It doesn't seem like there was anyone who said, wait a second here. [00:01:34] Something's wrong. We are hyper-sexualizing 11-year-old children. [00:01:38] Now, the fact that my daughter is 11 is making this one hit pretty close to home. [00:01:42] But no one along the line says, hmm, no. [00:01:46] And of course, the Obamas are neck deep in with Netflix and other people and so on. [00:01:50] So it just shows they seem to be genuinely surprised that anyone could have a problem with this. [00:01:59] And I don't know, maybe it's the Congolese woman. [00:02:02] Maybe they say, well, it's not gross if it's diversity hired. [00:02:07] I mean, I don't know. I don't know what, because I don't know anyone who would get involved in anything like that. [00:02:13] I mean, you've got parents who are putting their kids up for these auditions. [00:02:17] Can you imagine what these auditions are? [00:02:19] Put on this bikini and twerk? [00:02:21] Yeah. At what point did the parents say, hell no! [00:02:24] What are you doing? I thought we were selling some toothpaste here and you've got my woman shaking her ass like Cardi B on a trampoline. [00:02:32] Like, no thank you. Right? [00:02:34] So, like, nobody at the film festivals is like, I'm not putting that on the screen. [00:02:40] What are you, crazy? We can't normalize this. [00:02:42] This is horrifying. And the whole step from conception to it flowing into people's homes. [00:02:53] And nobody, it seems, raised the alarm along the way, which tells you just what a predatory echo chamber these people are in. [00:03:04] And to quote Mike Cernovich, you know, if it's a choice between cuties and Sharia law... [00:03:10] And then he quoted some Arabic phrase that I didn't understand, but I think I knew which side he came down on that. [00:03:16] So yeah, I don't know. === Big, Complicated Movie Effort (00:47) === [00:03:17] I don't know. It really is a different universe. [00:03:19] It's a different moral universe that this whole thing... [00:03:22] Like, this isn't just someone who filmed it in her house with a phone, right? [00:03:27] I mean, I've made a movie before. [00:03:29] I'm not just the documentaries. [00:03:30] I've made a fiction movie and so on, right? [00:03:34] So it's really a big, complicated, expensive, massive team effort. [00:03:40] And nobody on the set is taking pictures and leaking them and saying, what the hell is happening? [00:03:45] This is not good. [00:03:46] Like the whole thing just kind of barrels and slopes along and doesn't seem like anybody raised an objection. [00:03:54] I don't know how a society functions. [00:03:57] When you have lots of people saying, this is beautiful, high-moving art, and other people are like, this is child pornography and people have to go to jail.
