Hi everybody, Stephen Molyneux from Free Domain Radio.
I hope you're doing well.
Sorry for the somewhat significant service outage at the YouTube presence of the official Free Domain Radio channel, which is youtube.com forward slash Free Domain Radio.
I was actually at an animal shelter with my daughter.
We were dropping off some food for the animals and playing with some kitties.
And when we were going back to the car, I checked my cell phone.
And I got a whole bunch of messages like, hey...
Weren't you that guy who used to have that YouTube channel that you were working on for, say, about eight years and had 1,500-plus videos of experts' interviews and ethics and philosophy and history and all that kind of stuff?
And I was like, why, yes, I believe that I was that guy.
And they said, well, you're not that guy anymore because your YouTube channel is gone.
And I was really quite surprised.
We've never had any trouble with YouTube anymore.
We've never had any significant copyright problems.
We were in good standing and so on.
So I was like, gotta be a mistake, a DNS problem, whatever.
So I went to go and check the YouTube channel and it said, hey, you bald bastard, you don't have a YouTube channel anymore.
Your Gmail is gone. | |
Your Google Drive is gone.
Your Google Plus account is gone.
And that's it for you. | |
There's nothing but a smoking pile of digital ash slowly dispersing into the memory hole.
And I was a bit surprised.
So I talked to Mike and we found out that you can lose all of these digital footprints for just about anything.
We didn't have any copyright problems.
We've never violated community standards and so on.
Once we had a video that was age restricted, but that was about it.
So we were a little surprised at why our channel might have just vanished.
I don't know what happened.
We're back up now. | |
Nobody communicated with us from Google.
They didn't say what the problem is.
They didn't tell us what the resolution was, although the channel did reappear like the Crypt Keeper, like that hand from the grave in the horror movie that grabs your ankle when you try and get away.
We're back. | |
But I have a theory. | |
I don't know. | |
One possibility, which seems...
Plausible is that on Friday, I gave the speech of my career in Amsterdam to over 40,000 people and giant video screens and the whole whatchamacallit, and we'll put a link to that video that may have got us eliminated.
We'll put a link to that video in the low bar and on the video here.
But the speech was a pretty blistering fusillade against political corruption and fiat currency and warmongering and so on.
And it was seen by tens of thousands of people and it was uploaded to their site and our site and has had a pretty significant effect.
And that was Friday. | |
I gave the speech. | |
Then it was broadcast live and we uploaded it right away.
Saturday, I met up with a whole bunch of free-domain radio listeners from Europe and we...
Ate grapes, and we had foot rubs, and we talked philosophy for about 11 hours.
Actually, only one of those is true.
No, wait. | |
No, there were some grapes.
But that was Saturday, Sunday.
I got up godforsakenly early, something that makes a dairy farmer look like he's sleeping in, and flew back to Toronto and chatted philosophy with my seatmate for the last couple of hours.
And then Today, this takedown occurred.
Really the first business day after I gave my speech about political corruption.
Is that related? | |
It seems after eight years of no problems, I give this quite incredible speech to my largest audience ever and Monday.
The first business day afterwards, the channel vanishes and Gmail and everything vanishes without warning.
And... | |
I really want to thank everyone who stepped up and retweeted.
We got hundreds and hundreds of retweets of what had happened to the channel.
And we had people who have contacts at Google who buried them with emails of mass digital protesting.
And we had memes created and just a massive flood of support and encouragement and enthusiasm for the show, which I hugely appreciate.
And then we were back up.
By around 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
So we're only down for a couple of hours.
And I think the speed at which we came back up says, I think, that a lot of the activism that occurred around the channel had its intended effect.
So thank you, I've always said, greatest and best and wisest and smartest and downright sexiest listeners that the world has ever seen.
So thank you everyone so much.
And I will tell you this, that if the takedown of the Free Domain Radio YouTube channel Was a result of my speech in Amsterdam, then I will tell you this.
I know exactly which topics I'm going to start hitting harder in my speeches.
Because, you know, if you are an airplane with bombs, they only shoot at you when you're over the target.
So, as Churchill said, you have enemies.
Good! | |
That means you have stood up for something, somewhere, sometime.
So I know which nerve to lean on further, because that may have been responsible for what happened.
Thank you again for the community.
We're back, baby! | |
And we will continue plowing on, but with a slightly more refined direction now, back into the storm.
Thank you so much, everyone. |
