Skeptoid - Skeptoid Adventures: Death Valley 2024 Aired: 2024-05-02 Duration: 03:41 === Skeptoid Adventures Begin (03:38) === [00:00:02] Okay you guys, here's the thing. [00:00:04] You've heard me talk about Death Valley a million times on this show and in our documentary films and in live videos. [00:00:12] I always talk up the Skeptoid Monster Jeep. [00:00:15] I've told you all the stories about the mysterious moving stones of racetrack playa ever since I videotaped the mechanism by which they move in 2001. [00:00:26] So now I'm finally stepping up and inviting you to come there with me in person this October and go to all those places. [00:00:35] We're starting Skeptoid Adventures and Death Valley is going to be our first exploration. [00:00:41] We're lucky to have on our board of directors Jeff Wagg, the former general manager of the James Randy Educational Foundation. [00:00:48] And as a group travel agent in his secret identity life, he put together all the amazing cruises and amazing adventures with Randy. [00:00:57] Now in his current iteration, he's doing the same thing for Skeptoid Adventures, upholding the same standards of excellence in education as he did for Randy. [00:01:07] Therefore, this will be an all-inclusive trip. [00:01:11] Your transportation, lodging, and meals are all covered. [00:01:15] You just show up and we'll take you to places that very few people ever get to go. [00:01:20] For example, the racetrack, even for people who have gone far enough off the grid to get to Death Valley, is still very hard to get to. [00:01:29] We'll take you there. [00:01:30] We have connections to sites the general public is usually not able to visit. [00:01:34] We'll take you there too. [00:01:36] This is going to be three days of lifelong memories that most people will never have. [00:01:42] The trip is October 27th through 30th, 2024, and it starts and ends in Las Vegas, Nevada. [00:01:50] That means it's very easy for anyone to get to our rally point. [00:01:53] If you happen to be going to SaiCon, we connect seamlessly to the end of that. [00:01:58] Get yourself to Las Vegas. [00:02:00] We'll take care of you from there. [00:02:02] You get to see the site of the hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth. [00:02:06] And don't worry, it won't be nearly that hot at the end of October. [00:02:10] You get to stand at the lowest point in North America. [00:02:13] You get to run your fingers through the borax flats and mine tailings that created so much of the history of the Old West. [00:02:19] You'll get to see petroglyphs and pictographs that don't appear on any guidebook and that are completely unspoiled. [00:02:27] And with the experts we're bringing along, you'll be on the receiving end of a science and history and geology fire hose for three days. [00:02:36] So I really do want you to come on this trip. [00:02:39] By this date in October, I'll have been doing this podcast for 18 years. [00:02:44] And it's been the best 18 years of my life. [00:02:46] And that's because of all of you. [00:02:48] The people I've met from all walks of life, who are now almost the entirety of my circle of friends, and 99% of you I've never had the privilege of meeting in person. [00:02:59] And I want to. [00:03:00] The one promise I'll make to you is that you will never forget a single hour of this incredible trip. [00:03:06] We're calling it Skeptoid Adventures. [00:03:10] You can learn all about it and punch your ticket at skeptoid.com slash events. [00:03:16] That's skeptoid.com slash events. [00:03:20] A portion of your ticket price will be a tax-deductible donation to Skeptoid Media, a 501c3 educational nonprofit. [00:03:28] Thank you for being my listener, my friend, and for at least considering being my traveling companion on this amazing trip. [00:03:37] skeptoid.com slash events.
